@lambdaE: How effective/efficient are they? I'd like to avoid any hardware solutions as electricity isn't free for me x_x

One USB Block Errupters draws 2.5 W, this cost almost nothing. I meant you could actually get something physical and bit fun to play with. They wont mine the BTC back, no doubt.

History was made in Bitcoin world on Tuesday when the world’s first Bitcoin ATM opened in Operated by Las Vegas-based Robocoin and Vancouver-based Bitcoiniacs, the ATM scans your palm and allows you to exchange cash for Bitcoin, or do the reverse. Customers can make up to $3,000 worth of Bitcoin exchanges per day.

Pretty scary they scans your palm and store this information. Hopefully future ATMs will not do this

Some pointers on where to get started. I've already gotten myself some from faucets/etc, but it isn't exactly that much (like 0.0013 BTC I think). Wondering what I should do with this now? Visit one of the gambling sites possibly? Invest? Loan out? Perhaps CEX.io, even though I've heard that isn't a very reliable option. Thanks ahead of time for any help guys!

The USB Block Errupters cost now around 0.04 BTC. I guess you can wait a bit, these will cost less probably soon. You can get something physical this way, not bad considering you got it from free faucets

187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starting a new (novelty) alt-coin on: October 25, 2013, 10:27:47 PM
Aren't all alt coins novelties?

Nope, mostly just renamed copies of currrent alt coins with few different parameters. Not much work needed

I hope it is best to use the latest firmware version available, as I dont have so much time to test all the firmware versions.

Wish it worked best with the first version, but hey at least I received as promised

I'm bored tonight, so I'm writing. Fantastic start, right? It's been a year and a half since I've posted, and this is the first time I'm so bored that I'm going to update my blog.

The Bitcoin advantage is its useability, not just speculative coin, so I believe in bright future of Bitcoin, regardless of the future price

Hi there everyone!
Also new here, just started getting to know about bitcoins today!
Read about gpu mining, too bad i left my rig back at home for my job, could've put those gpu's to good use.

Welcome.

In fact the GPU is not good for mining Bitcoins anymore, you may try to mine some alternative coin with it though
195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Payment (if I discover a block) when solo-mining..? on: September 30, 2013, 10:03:42 PM
What do you mean, there is very small chance of finding a block solo mining with such small hashrate, I know it

My best guess is that he means that if you ever do get lucky enough to mine a block, you will very likely have spent far more than 25 BTC worth of electricity to do so.  In other words it would be much cheaper and much faster to simply buy the bitcoin now with cash than to spend all that cash on electricity in a Captain Ahab effort of mining.  If the current mean time between solving a block is 55,000 years, then the odds are pretty darn good that you aren't going to find a block before the block reward gets cut in half again in about 3 years.

This. I never understood why people wasting money on Lottery tickets. They would be better to save these money for future and their childrens

0-100 BTC is too wide range,
better would be 0-1, 1-10, 11-100  Wink

But at least I can say I have between 0 and 100 BTC   Cheesy
