181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: September 18, 2017, 07:17:33 PM
Long time lurker, first time poster! (Be gentle)

Sent an email to Baikal about the x10 only having 3x 6-pin connectors and pulling 800W. Got a replay saying "you will need total six 6 Pin connectors to power one Giant X10".

Still not sure this is going to be enough connectors since each 6-pin is only rated at 75W. Anyone have experience with pulling more than 75W per connector? Undecided

Your main concern being that the mother port ( on the baikal ) or the father connector ( the one from the psu ) will melt or?
Be a bit more specific and maybe I can give you an answer
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: September 18, 2017, 12:31:36 PM
Well, the D3 is still available for purchase. The site is not crashing any more and everybody can get a hold of one. This is not good news for all those folks that bought one trying to resell it.
Also not good news for us, who bought it. I hope they are not going to release a D3+ soon because that would mean the D3 units will be worth nothing. My guess is people will start reselling them at a discount now.

But, I would really be interested in some confirmations about the real power usage and hash rate from the D3s in the first batch.

The first batch is always risky.  Bitmain doesn't have the greatest reputation with the first batch of anything.

On the other hand, it may be perfect.

Shut up, I kill you!  Grin
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: September 18, 2017, 08:21:00 AM
Anyone else get the impression Bitmain has been trying to push as many of these out the "presale" door as they can while they can, before the flood kills X11 profitability?

PS - there's stlll some up of the most recent batch, guess folks are starting to pay attention and WORRY about "is this gonna make me ANYTHING by the time I get it".

they are pushing the lower version out because they accidentally put up 17.5 Ghs version which uses 900 W so 16.6% faster 25% more efficient.

Looks like on the site they have the D3 with older chipsets which uses a lot more electricity.

as I said before in this topic:
if the so called D3+ can only do 17.5 Ghs I do think it's not worth it at all due to the hashrate increase we'll definetly see after the normal D3 batches.
just my 2 Mhs  Grin
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why you shouldn't buy from BAIKAL - JUST DON'T on: September 17, 2017, 06:31:35 PM
Ah to clarify, a friend of mine ordered and paid two days after me and he will have the first batch.

Sadly that proves eben more what I've said in the first post.
A very shitty business practice with some very shitty tactics
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why you shouldn't buy from BAIKAL - JUST DON'T on: September 17, 2017, 08:09:11 AM
Baikal has many faults all around. Simply put, these are some of the many issues they have, and a few fixes they could implement to better serve their customers. If you don't want to read all of them, at least check out #4, as it's pretty messed up from my findings.

1. They request users to email them to make a purchase, which leads to too many confirmed orders compared to stock. Firstly they need to address the order process, and add an online 'store' to complete and confirm your order (reservation - pending payment), on a first come, first serve basis. Then provide the customer with a set amount of time (24 hours) to complete the payment and upload photos/screenshots of the completion to their order. If no photos/screenshots are uploaded with the specified time, the unit(s) is automatically put back into stock online immediately. If a staff checks the photos/screenshots and they are not valid, then the staff manually cancels the order, and the unit(s) is added back into stock online. This should help create a set of rules for everyone to follow, and will be fair to all customers.

2. Their announcing/releasing of products is horrendous at the moment. Announcing a product via Twitter, but having nothing on your website to back it up is just bad organization. First organize and announce everything on your website, quickly followed by Twitter, Facebook, and social media accounts as soon as you can afterward. This provides the users with all the information on the website, and at least links to more information on Twitter and Facebook. This should also result in less questions for their staff to deal with, since all necessary information should be available on the website.

3. Their announcement to Sale time and date should never be immediate. This should never ever happen. Period. What if Apple said during its iPhone announcement, "You can get them in stores right after I push this button". Everyone in the audience would be pretty upset they can't rush to an Apple Store to buy one for several hours, whom are potentially their most loyal shareholders and customers. Anyways, a specific date and time should be set, allowing at least 24 hours for customers to find the announcement, and prepare for the sale. This would at least provide customers all around the world with the same opportunity, and not just the specific time zone that's awake during the instant announcement and launch. Also, pending the transaction type, Saturday and Sunday may not be the best if requesting a bank transfer, as a lot of banks are closed on weekends. However if via coins, then any day should be fine.

4. Provide at least a similar amount of stock to customers directly, as to the supposed "contact resellers". If Baikal can't provide a similar amount of stock to its customers as they do to their mass resellers, then they need to fulfill these contracts prior to a product announcement. Therefore the customers won't even know thousands of units have gone to these resellers, while Baikal only has a couple hundred available.
Example - From the announcement on Sept. 12th, Baikal stated they only had 100 units available for preorder in October, and before they even uploaded anything on their website, all 100 units sold out. This was very clear from their website, and the several emails everyone received stating they are sold out. However, after the first sale was stated as Sold Out, Asic Miner Market online stated they had several units available (The most I saw was 20 units at the time, and for $2550/unit). This amount quickly Sold Out within a day. Then, when I check again 2 days ago, the supply had been replenished, and another 100 units were available from Asic Miner Market, under the October Presale availability as well ($2450/unit this time). I'm assuming the first batch was also possibly 100, but let's play dumb and say it was only 20 units. Adding the 100 units for their second batch, that's still 120 units from Asic Miner Market, and only 100 units sold from Baikal.
I thought it would end here;  however, I watch the amount decrease to 78 units over a day, before rechecking today with a huge surprise of now seeing 149 units available for shipment in October as well. Adding all of these together, we get a minimum of 191 units for sale between $2450-$2550 (Over double the price compared to Baikal) from a reseller, and still only 100 units from the actual company Baikal! (Of course it was more the 191 units via AMM, but we're going with minimums I can confirm)
Overall, I understand this is just business, and these partnerships need to exist for certain companies, but that's also a ridiculous amount of products being sold and shipped just for resellers to mark up and make more of a profit than the actual company. Baikal needs to step it up with their direct sales to consumers, to increase their popularity and image. One can assume they do this because it's an easy and instant sale, with no hassle, bulk shipping likely within the same city, and minimal effort involved. Let alone no one else has any X11 miners available in stock anyways, so they are trying to get as many sales at double the price because there's nothing else to even buy. If Baikal would sell these units direct to customers, in a proper first come, first serve order, I guarantee they would surpass almost every other ASIC manufacturer on the market for popularity.

If someone from Baikal is even reading this, hit me up if you guys want a hand working on your customer service and image. I could help you guys change the market for ASIC producers.

I do agree with you 110%.
However I need to comment 1 littel thing on your number 4:
Asic miner market is considered to be very fishy and maybe even a total scammer so I wouldn't take for granted the number they post as stock and I don't really know if they'll have the miner at all.

Tai_Pan almost word for word same experience I have with trying to order..... but may be a good thing because I saw that someone mentioned that there could be some power problems with them as they can top out at 800 watt and only have 3 pci-e connectors to power 3 boards.. that's a lot of juice on those lines... not sure how safe that would be?
As for the power issues, I think Baikal would have figured it out before delivering. 2 in 1 pci-e cables to share the load, perhaps?

Even with the 2 in 1, it still ends up to 1 PCIe connection that is receiving 266+ watts to a board. Even if you have a 3 in 1 or 4 in 1 PCIe connection, it's still just 1 PCIe jack that is taking all the power. That is the concern that I see. Lets say for example you use a 3 in 1 PCie cable so there will be no fault to the wires at all since there will be minimal resistance. Would that PCIe jack fail instead? I know wires/gauges are rated for a certain amount of amps/watts, just not sure what those PCIe jacks are rated for.

Well I know what you are saying but I never heard a baikal miner to melt the pci-e connector .The only one I've heard about doing that was a Panda miner.
But in the end it's just plastic so it's a risk / possibility. If you know a bit of wiring and circuits you could easily replace them yourself if it happens.

Why not email baikal and seek their clarification on this issue?

Good one, really made me laugh  Grin Grin Grin. Yeah, email them and see when and if you get the totally off-topic answer.

It shouldn't be a problem at all if you use a 1000 or beter a 1200w PSU with 6+2 pci-e cables.
And some extra cooling ( air conditioning or just medium size computer fans ).

The x10 model has 1 intake fan but no exhaust as I've seen from the pictures and no holes either in the metal enclosure.
That could be the real problem but it can be fixed by adding extra vents for exhaust.

Did you paid with wire or crypto? If wire was it what were the exact details of their bank?
EDIT: sorry I saw now that you paid in BTC.
well, see? they said I can't pay in crypto, only wire, so.......does that prove even more my point?

If You would like to take a chance when it appears, for taking good offer on ASIC equipment, You should have BTC ready all the time. I even maximized transfer expenses for that transaction to faster go trough.
And yes, announcement for this batch was for crypto and wire payment at the beginning. I was emailed that I have 2 hours to make BTC transaction. They had my BTC on their disposal in less than an hour. Couple of hours after my payment, BTC started to dive, therefore they gave up of crypto payments.
I'm not saying that their service is good, but if You like to success in something, You should adopt to the (bad) conditions.

I had crypto & fiat to cover the expenses but as I told you I was denied crypto from the start.

I wasn't aware any what use that tiny little site. It's a very small sight with a very isolated group of people that touched it first place. That we were told in the beginning about this scam and anyone that touched it after that pretty much deserves to lose their money. I just wonder why dont people listen to other people advice and keep on investing in scam.

I don't qute understand.Can you please rephrase a bit?Thanks

I understand, not saying you snoozed. But due to the incompetence of your banks you missed out, hence snooze you lose. I've managed in the past wire funds to them, same details, others here have seemed to be able to wire successfully. Why couldn't the banks tell you what was missing? I would investigate this matter further, try and find out why the banks couldn't send. They should be able to tell you whats missing.

Before giving shit to the banks ( which will lead to nothing as there are....banks ) I am more curious to:
-why others were able to pay with crypto and I wasn't allowed
-why was I told when wanting to pay with wire that the unit that was booked for me was sold out
- would I've been delayed to a second batch if I managed to pay via wire like other users have reported

and other mysterious and kinky stuff like that.

Ok heres your answers
1 Others were able to pay with crypto likely right up until BTC took a nose dive....too volatile right now
2 Unit that was booked for you got sold to next buyer because your bank couldn't send the money when someone else could, you would likely do the same if you were a business
3 Quite possible....but now your just speculating

In reply to your enumeration:
1.you are not well informed my friend.for this batch, this preorder of giant x10 some of the users paid with crypto while baikal stated that only wire is allowed

2.if I was a business and I said 2 days deadline I would fucking stick to that in order to be a respected business.2 days doesn't mean 1 day and 2 hrs or 1 day and 12 hrs or 1 day and 9 hrs (in my particular case).2 days=48 hrs unless you are a greedy bastard or a business whit fushy/shitty schemes

3.again you are not well imformed.such at least this forum to see how many complained about that.search google and you will have a revelation.

Please be kind and read the entire context/situation from the internet for a certain problem before taking sides or posting an absolute truth

I tried to read your super long post but it is far too long winded for me to read in regards to a company I have had many good dealings with. I never said customer service was there strong points. But I'm trying to make you realize that had your banks sent the money on time you would likely have 2 X10's coming to you in October...Below is the bank details I have sent my payments to in the past. Did they give you same bank info? Was something missing on your end? did you give the exact same details to your bank? If so then you can blame them this time around for missing you out. I understand all previous times was Baikals fault yes, but look at it this way, you should be thanking them. All those previous miners are pretty much rendered useless now with such little hash power.  Details below

Doesn't matter as I really won't lose my and your time having a fight here.

You have your experience with baikal, I have mine and I hope for your sake that you won't experience mine ever.
Next time when you order something from them and they are so kind to reply to you please let me know.I will kindly ask you to buy 1-2 items for me also and I will pay you a good fee for your trouble.

I am not trying to argue with you either...Baikal makes phenomenal products hence why I felt it a bit harsh creating a thread with the title you did. But I also understand your frustrations.

No, no, nooooo. You got me all wrong.
The products are extraordinary, I love them so much.
The business is the problem, the way they handle things, the slimy tactics they use.
Too bad the products cannot sell themselves and they need the human factor.

NOTE:
WE ARE TALKING HERE ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BAIKAL AND NOT ABOUT SOME SCAM SERVICE PRETENDING TO BE THEM.
If you support this road I've taken please be kind and share this topic wherever you can.Let's help baikal change as it has a beautiful piece of hardware.

I do invite all the members who had any type of issues ordering from BAIKAL to come forward and post here.
I do plan to go to the sky and beyond with what I'm going to write here.
I will share this post on every forum I am part of and on every social media I have.
So let's make together this utter nonsense correct as I hope BAIKAL will do something about it in the very near future.

I will state here my entire experience with them. For some of my statements I will post proof but for some I have none because it happened a while ago.
Please keep in mind that I only wanted to buy 1 unit each time.

So I've been trying to buy a BAIKAL since they had the 1st model of Quad ( the one with 600 MH ).
Always got no reply on email / skype / facebook.
On skype I was able to see that baikal was active after I sent the message but no reply.
I also sent messages on skype while they were active but no reply.
On facebook my messages were showed as "seen" but no reply.

Then the cube arrived ( with 300 MH ).
Same situation, no reply.

Then the QUAD CUBE ( 1200 MH ).
Of course I tried to contact them again and buy 1 unit. After a couple of tries I got a reply on skype telling me that I can make an order.Needless to say I was exploding of happiness.
Baikal asked me to make the order via email which I did. They replied in minutes with this text:
Subject: Re: new order as we talked on skype

While I was in the middle of making the payment I realised that the amount of BTC they asked is not at all equal to the amount of USD they wrote. In fact what they asked as BTC was, at that time, 600$ more.
I mean I was full aware of the different value exchanges give to BTC but nowhere in this world the difference would be so big ( 600$ ).
So I wrote them on skype and got no answer and I sent them this email:
I wanted to pay you but there is something wrong and on Skype nobody answers.
You wrote "3196+147 =3343usd BTC:2.906btc."
But 2.906 BTC is 3920 USD and not 3343.I know that exchange is different but that much I don't think so.
Please check and let me know.
I have the money ready.
What do you think? NO REPLY.

I was so disgusted by their tactics that I didn't even bother trying to get an A900 or a Giant.I gave up on them as a company.

Then, 3 days ago I saw they tweeted something.I saw the tweet about their GIANT X10 and I decided I have to try this.I went to their website but there was still only the old Giant model...so I asked myself WTF?!?
So about 10-15 minutes after the tweet I sent them a message on skype stating that I want to buy and just to be sure I sent them an email also.
Couple of hours later no reply so I went to bed telling myself that it's going to be all ok now because I was at least among the first 50 people who stated they want to order.

The 2nd day in the morning still no reply so I really got into fuckin' hulk rage mode.
On facebook nothing, on twitter nothing, on the website they still had the old model of GIANT.WHAT THE DOUBLE FUCK?!?
I went on skype and wrote a couple of messages. Finally they replied.
This is what followed:
now really guys. I want to buy your products. Why are you so difficult to get along with. I want 5 units, I am willing to pay in advance just to be put on the waiting list for the next batch. come on, let's work on this together and figure something out

.

The second day I tried to make the bank transfer via the internet banking. It gave some "validation failure" error.I said to myself that maybe I am a dumbass and I put some wrong info.
Tried again with attention. The same error.
I sent them this email:
Guys, I tried several times paying you with bank transfer but my bank always gives me "validation failure".
I think something is wrong or incomplete with the details you provided for payment.
Can I pay you using another service, please ( bitcoin, paypal, skrill )?

In 15 hours my order will expire and I really really don't want to miss the chance of buying from you.

Hours passed and nothing.Tried on skype:

hello
are you available for 3 minutes? please

I went on twitter and I saw that they tweeted minutes before that the batch is all sold.On their website still nothing.

Then I also received an email to which I replied:

My email was about a failing payment.
I cannot pay with the bank.

From:baikalminer

But you didn't pay, and when you were asking other questions, someone else gave us the payment voucher, so we would keep it for those who already paid for it
So we give priority to those who pay the vouchers

as I emailed you the bank declines the transfer with the details you provided. you said the voucher is valid for 2 days. that will end in 6 hours

From:baikalminer
I think that's why I've told you many times, because there are so many people buying, we will certainly keep orders for those who are in the front payment. Isn't that fair?

no it is not fair. if you say something then stick to it. that would be an honorable thing to do. you said 2 days then let it be 2 days. plus it is a problem with validating your bank for the transfer

From:baikalminer

Sorry, we have no quota for the first batch at present, otherwise we will wait for your payment. We will launch the second presale as soon as possible. We will release it as soon as possible

what the fuck..... I thought you asian people have a devotion to honor and respect itself and to respect other people..... I am utterly disappointed

Meanwhile I went to the bank to try and make the payment manually with the help of a bank officer. The same result "validation failure" from the bank itself. The bank officer told me for sure it is something wrong or not accurate with the details provided.

Not too long ago they replied to my last email and I wrote them the last email they'll get from me:

Yeah....be honest and just say YOU DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR CLIENTS and that's that.

miner

2 days after they announced on twitter the miner was sold out the product appeared on their website too......with that big ass stamp "SOLD OUT"

Why couldn't your bank send the funds??? Time is of the essence with these Chinese miners...you snooze you lose

I've ordered more than once from Baikal.

As I wrote in the first post it gave validation failed from 2 different banks. And it's not about snooze as I started trying from the moment they sent me the payment details so............
Bank officers said it's something incomplete or incorrect in the details provided by the seller.
Baikal did not answer and when they answered they said only that it was sold out even if I had another 15 hours from the 2 days they gave as deadline.
When asked about BTC transfer as I methode of payment they said no but I saw members on the forum who paid with BTC.

What more do you want me to say?

I agree with OP regarding Baikal.. I was in a similiar situation before. btc exchange rate was crazy! opted for wire instead. they couldn't honour my full order quantity. made sure I never will be doing any business with them again.

Same is the case for iBeLink they keep on telling you to read T&C as long as its in their favor and as soon as its against them they will become rude with you.

I have to disagree with you. I feel ibelink has one of the best customer service compared to ALL of the other hardware manufacturers. Qing was always accessible, he always answered my calls or messages. I had a few issues regarding my order and he made sure to always correct it. I highly respect ibelink and their customer service!
Now the ibelink dm11g T&C.. oh man!

I for one can't be pro or against ibelink as I don't own any of their miners nor have I ever contacted them.
So......I'll keep my fingers at rest on this one  Smiley

Chan8 what country are you from?

Yea dont buy from baikal, payment sent and they reply / said i am on 2nd batch..wtf!  Angry Angry Angry Angry

Ouch, did they mention to you of end of October delivery date before you send payment?

Yea and then right after send proof payment they said first batch sold out. WTF! They said MANY customers have same experience as me! LOL... so thats why who were here same experience??

Sounds like bait and switch to me.  Probably only 10 in the first batch if there even really is a first batch.  Wink

Neeeah, it's not quite like that.
I've seen users around stating that they bought 2-3 units.
I've even seen users saying they bought the units with BTC or Dash transfers while Baikal stated they only allow wire transfers for purchasing.

I do wonder if innosilicon has the same ways of dealing with customers.
Maybe is something about the national attitude.

Not sure, but heard that greed makes people's attitude difficult to tackle

I do really think it's only a matter of character.

Those are just rumors / statements / intentions. From words to facts it's a shit long way

and like in case of iBeLink what could be more funny that when they violate their own T&C (the ones which they drafted themselves) they will still blame you for their violation...Lol...

It really, really wouldn't surprise me.
It seems that it's a very hard thing in our days to say: yes, I fucked up, not you and I'm sorry.
It's much more simple to blame no matter who or what than to admit your own fault.

I wish Americans and Europeans jump into mining machines atleast they do admit their mistakes and compensate.

Yeah, I'd wish that too.The unattractive thing about USA and EU is that electricity is pretty expensive compared to Asia

I heard Russians and Japanese are jumping in next year

I received payment info from them Tuesday night around midnight eastern time. I was traveling weds so I had my wife do the wire mid day weds. I sent them the receipt and my passport photo weds. They replied thanking me and said they would let me know once they received the payment. No talk about still being in batch 1 or not. I will let you know once I hear back from them. Anyone know how long international wire transfers take?

It really depends on the banks but usually no more than 2-3 working days
