BULLISH:

Polish Authorities Issue Sweeping Condemnation of Bitcoin and Other Digital Currencies

https://news.bitcoin.com/polish-authorities-issue-sweeping-condemnation-of-bitcoin-and-other-digital-currencies/

Quote
Polish authorities, regulators, and banks issued a sweeping statement warning of the risk of bitcoin, ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies. They said these currencies are not national or legal tender and cannot be used to pay taxes. They do not fall within the guidelines provided by Polish Financial Supervision Authority. Businesses, especially, should be wary about adopting or trying to use “virtual currencies.”

This warning comes as more Polish restaurants and eateries have begun to accept bitcoin as a method of payment. Poland’s largest food delivery service, with 5000+ restaurants, recently started accepting the digital currency. It will be interesting to see how the general public and investors react to recent condemnations of bitcoin and other digital currencies.

Hello Wall Observer, my old friend
I've come to troll with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while Adam was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Was a block chain
Within the sound of trolling

In restless dreams I trolled alone
Narrow threads in speculation
'Neath the halo of a monitor glow
I clicked a tab to bitcoinity show
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of an all time high
That split the night
And touched the sound of trolling

And in the all time high I saw
Ten thousand trolls maybe more
Trolls posting without typing
Trolls moderating without reporting
Trolls writing posts that voices never shared
No one dared
Disturb the sound of trolling

"Trolls," said I, "you do not know
Trolling like a cancer grows
Read my posts that I might troll you
Take my keyboard that I might troll you"
But my words like unconfirmed transactions fell
And echoed in the wells of trolling

And the people bowed and prayed
To the Bitcoin god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said "The words of satoshi is written in the order walls"
We dropped our jaws
And whispered in the sound of trolling

Felt like Simon and Garfunkel were part of Satoshi's team... Grin

I have a question for you, Meuh.
Why in your thread you had that rule about no more than 300 pixels images and here you don't respect it?
185  Other / Meta / Re: Wall Observer new ownership on: July 08, 2017, 01:24:41 AM
Bejasus ... have I realised how much like hurding cats this could be?

Duhhh yeah because I have been here for over half  a decade , but whatever that's not the point ...

Would I sound totally insane if I said I feel like everyone has taken this far too seriously , whilst also not seriously
enough...

But whatever- - vote IS a vote - no matter what the TPTB have tried to manoeuvre recently ...

I am obviously not going to win this one Sad and so be it...

I just hope it works out for the best..  all the best to the new owner and I appreciate
the kind words from several of you guys.

At the end of the day as important as this thread IS, which it IS, and as much as it is ingrained in oldtimers and many bitcointalk originals - it's the furthering of understanding of cryptocurrency , of the new paradigm , of the potential , of the moon, of the fucking awesome endeavours of those rare diamonds of human beings- that made this all possible that brought me here.

Personsally I would have preferred this thread to go to an actual full on participant (no offence - infofront- and TBH you seem like a sound guy and level guy that will do a good job)  and Democracy is Democracy.

So I hope this thread can find its heart again- - as dark as it maybe at times ... and I hope that it can prevail and ultimatly in the same energy as Adam and Theymos both have given to the space - it can continue to help to make Bitcoin and cryptocurrency thrive.

I must admit I tired of the - excessive shit first and then the i relentless hostility on the thread at times - and I genuinely admire many of the posters, and miss some of the more insightful posters of yesteryear - infact I would
like to see some come back!

Either way - I think I may stick some electrodes into monkey- because I miss monkey

Also monkey was pretty damn smart in his youth - damn near psyhcic in his
longer term calls.

I actually managed to beat my monkey.

I always enjoyed beating my monkey.
and monkey only ever saw what we showed it)

Anyway......

(But monkey only ever did what monkey saw-

Don't be sad, buddy. I'd vote for you if infofront was not doing such a great job (by doing nothing at all) in his own thread.

Well well, inch by inch, Bitcoin's dominance rising while total crypto market cap is flat or falling.

Which means either alt trades coming back into btc, or alts just going straight to fiat. Weak hands.

Personally, I find Lauda's insistence on gender neutrality refreshing. Sexual ambiguity is very today.

... but is it really ambiguous when she insists on being on top?

Do you stay on top or under the cockroach??

Just curiosity, none of my business...

I want to know who supports Trump before I cast my vote!

Although I'm not running for WO presidency (POTWOT) I support Trump.

Problem?

189  Other / Meta / Re: Wall Observer new ownership on: July 07, 2017, 04:36:28 AM
good lord!...i had to scroll back to make sure i was in the correct thread...

ROFL!

I know that feeling! Same here!

... no, that's just your goldfish level intellect playing tricks on you again.

One more time around the bowl ...

Whoooooaaahh GUYS!

How come we didn't realise it before???

THAT'S the reason why the cockroach hates women!!!

He and the roman marcus are in love!!!

How cuuute!

Wish the best to the couple, may you join your bitcoin and physical silver stash and invest in gas chambers, how about that?

Marcus you will always be remembered as the reason why a cockroach hates women!

To claim men and women are the same or equal is utterly hilarious when they're not remotely similar.  To know the mind of a woman is to know the mind of a prostitute. They're generally "takers" by nature, looking solely for an asymmetric relationship that favors themselves.  This is why men get along and women don't.  You can't have two prostitutes standing on the same street corner, it just doesn't work.  Two men can collaborate on building something together even in a zero sum game because they can work out a 50/50 split. Such a split is considered offensive to a woman.  Utilitarianism is a completely alien concept to them.

WTF did I just read  Cheesy Cheesy ?

Do you actually believe this ?

That is some far out fubar shit brother!  Can't help but think you have been exposed to the wrong sorta women - or have been a doormat or been badly burnt by one/several/all of the women in your life?

He is actually right... 9 out of 10 women that I know... are exactly like he said! ... Women in their nature... because of the history context, of them being leverage for aliens, they where trade slaves or a commodity for us to bargain our existence on this planet with the invader alliens! Cheesy Cheesy
Their mentality is something similar to cats... because someone else needs to take care of them! Smiley
Because it is in their genetic matter to be a commodity, a good, a house pet! Cheesy Cheesy

hahahaha

Yeah right...

Let's put on a demonstration, just in case Theymos does not know, about how stupid-ass we can become in regards to our off-topicness and our attempts to provoke.. Wink

I have to agree this time, wordy-one...
192  Economy / Speculation / Re: If I buy just 5 bitcoin today 2500$, Next 5 years bitcoin will be 15000$ on: July 07, 2017, 01:17:37 AM
People who invest with such intentions will likely end up in a big disappointment.

Just like most people here, I am quite sure that the price will continue to increase in the coming years, but it isn't smart to set yourself such targets at this early stage.

I say just buy how much you can afford, and then leave them in cold storage for a few years ~ after a few years you can set yourself the right targets based on how the price is at that time.

Exactly.
Both ways OP will be disappointed, it's only a matter of time. Either if he buys now and 5 years later BTC price did not meet expectations (even losses may occur), or 5 years later (maybe before) price target is reached, OP sells and watches in another set of 5 years price skyrockets and they "reaped" only $75.000.
193  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer: BTC/USD Price Tracking and Discussion 2.0 (Unmoderated) on: July 07, 2017, 12:38:46 AM
Actually this is now the main fork, after the other two died dry. BitcoinNewsMagazine one was cool but people stopped posting there for no reason, Meuh sabotaged his own thread...

Elwar, good to see you around, have seen news from Latin America? Things are worst everyday, Maduro is playing a theater in Venezuela, possibly setting the right backstage to his so dreamed coupe d'état. Brasilian President Temer is likely to lose his presidential term due to many corruption accusations. His lawyers are using the same strategy last president used before being impeached. Sounds like desperation.

With so many countries on the brink of collapse I would not be surprised by that desperation leading to some sort of world war. That tends to be a nation's way of covering up their financial problems and pulling everyone together under some false sense of threat.

How do you see Bitcoin behaving in this WW scenario?

Millennials will refuse to fight! They are too self centered. Hmmm... maybe North Korea. But other countries would just nuke that one then go back to not fighting. Smiley

I agree and disagree.
Looks like although you're fluent in my native language (você fala português, não é?) you take for granted every millennial behaves like an USA-born millennial. I believe the distaste for corruption and poverty brought by many nations' politicians is in higher levels around the world than in USA. Our traditional example is Venezuela (last weeks events speak by themselves, or did you miss the helicopter sending grenades to the official buildings?). Also some politicians in Brasil and Argentina are facing justice problems for the first time in history, as corruption never sent anyone to jail here before. It can be explained mainly because millennials sharing what they think around social networks, message apps, etc are putting much more pressure in public opinion, working with the fact many old-school politicians are ignorant to how technologies work and how their obscure business are being traced. These two factors (public opinion favorable and easiness to investigate dumb corrupts) give strength to intel police and Justice to work.

But I agree that appealing to guns and slaughter may not even be among the options. Bitcoin is an example of how to change the status quo without appealing to war. This generation may be developing an abstract intelligence on solving old problems the previous did not.
194  Economy / Economics / Re: In event of your death on: July 07, 2017, 12:13:46 AM
Write down your wallet's seed hidden in a book. Show the book cover and those twelve words to your siblings, explain them how to re-create a wallet with these words. Show them how to find the book in your shelf. Don't involve lawyers or anybody strange to your family.

Bad idea, obviously the odds of someone finding this seed in your book is extremely small, but it simply cannot be ignored especially if you are planning on giving massive amounts of bitcoin in your will. And in a situation where there are no backups, even if something minor like a house fire occurs, you are at risk of losing the seed to recover the wallet.

Someone should be very stupid to leave an amount of Bitcoin worth leaving to posterity WITHOUT BACKUPS!
The fact I did not mention doing backups in the same style (seed hidden on books) does not mean IT IS NOT OBVIOUS that a backup MUST be in other places.
And if done in a correct way (I'm not specifying here, you use your imagination as you will) a seed hidden in a book (or some specific books) is a perfect way to leave inheritance.

Msm will help.to get the word out. No one in my family, friends, have a clue about bitcoin. Once msm starts actively discussing the benefits, uses of bitcoin it will only help the uneducated learn of its potential and help new people to start buying

Agreed, but this kind of get-rich-fast news create expectations that may not be fulfilled and does not create hodlers -exactly what we need to MBTCGA.

Stock research analyst Ronnie Moas said he bought bitcoin this weekend and thinks it could reach $5,000 within a year.

A wishful noob whose opinion -for some reason- raised MSM attention.
That's all.
I thought BTC could reach $2k when I first bought, but CNBC didn't pay attention.

Ha! I would love to see how people falling over each other and fighting for those limited supply of 21M coins  Cheesy

As I've read recently in this forum, "if each world's millionaire wanted to have at least one full bitcoin, there wouldn't be enough bitcoins".

Speaking of governments.

Does anyone know of any software tools that currently exist to record things such as land titles and other governance types of remediation over the blockchain? I know that these things are theoretically possible, just wondering if anyone had an open source implementation or an open project.

Maybe this will be of your interest:
Blockchain startup Ubitquity has announced it will overhaul the land registrar offices of two Brazilian municipalities by embedding land ownership information into the bitcoin blockchain.
