1801  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: pH Miners Launches Powerful Cryptocurrency Miners for Bitcoin on: March 03, 2016, 06:55:25 PM
Gee... I wonder why it looks like a normal server.   And it get's better use a search to see if picture is online it is.... there are other miners who have Photoshopped this pic before they did not even us a original pic to Photoshop: https://www.tineye.com/search/270a16124c7905d1919b7c75e3301647a11a499c/ .  Appears they edited a smart miner picture.  So scam using another scams picture.

1802  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 03, 2016, 06:47:55 PM

yes there are a few but generally multipools arent very good because you may mine with the coin is up, but the pool auto sells those coins so it may sell them cheaper then you would want. plus i think the bots just dump the coins in the bids so if they have many miners the price goes down as the coin is mined.

here is a link to a few
https://poolpicker.eu/reviews?order=rating&algo=sha-256
some dont work anymore.. :/

Yes I wondered if that would be the case, but will take a look. The one thing that does work for me, and I guess a lot of other people use it, is to set a value of Bitcoin on Nicehash as your first pool so that it get's mined above a certain value. If this feature existed for other SHA-256 coins then you could just list each of them with a value in your miner configuration screen and have it switch that way?

Rich

i dont think such a pool exists.. NH is nice because you can often make above btc value per GH, but you arent actually mining for yourself. you just get paid what the site is making on rentals.

also NH jams up the s5s. so if you put it as the first one and your price gets met for a few minutes, you may have to restart the s5 to get it to start mining again once it goes lower. mine just sat idle.
they have special firmware for the s5, but its outdated and it has that internet loss bug that stops the fans.. so if you lose internet your s5 may or may not blow up..

what i been doing is mining DGC for a few days, get about 500 of them.. then switch to PPC..
it takes awhile to dump 500 DGC on bittrex because you cant just throw them in the bids or the coin will crash. figure out what the good profit point is and stick there, just make asks and leave them.

PPC hit a spike on btc-e today, so i sold mine for a nice profit of almost 50c each..

edit, seems bittrex also had a nice buy spike and my dgc sold.. nice..

I had no success with the Nicehash firmware on my S5 so I just use the latest Bitmain release. Have had no problem with the S5 switching in and out of Nicehash, sometimes it happens 4 or 5 times a day without problem. Yes I have been mining peercoin for a Week or so but have not yet come up with a simple way of deciding what to mine when or when to sell the coins so I do not think I have been doing very well out of it. So have left Nicehash set at 0.0035 and then bw.com as the second pool while I think about what to do. What I should do of course  is sell the S5's while they still have some value.....

Rich

i do like the idea of NH.. i do not like or support their 3% fee..
they charge both the miners and the buyers a 3% fee.. so they take 6% off the top.

its really greedy.. and its NO risk to them, as they get paid directly from the buyers.. they dont rely on finding blocks like normal pools do.

they should really not charge a fee for the miners at all.. as the miners are supporting their site.. which doesnt always turn a higher profit then btc directly, so lots of times miners are mining at a loss.

There was points when they got MUCH higher profits then normal mining.  I could see certain times in past when 6 percent was possibly fair to charge.  Were talking a while ago though....  people just don't seem to be renting and for as much as they did.

I would agree these day's if they went down in fee would be a good thing.  I think they should base fee on percent above normal mining.  So if like right 3 percent above normal on sha256... they should adjust to a lower rate.  But I can see as a business why they don't.  And they are the best out there as far as renting (i think personally) so I can see a premium for that to.
1803  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: March 03, 2016, 06:43:01 PM
Due to a sudden loss of funds, we need to cancel our datawarehouse project with 150 S4 servers running & cooled with water blocks.

We need to sell our S4 Antminers:

       - some 300 brand new ones still in original packages

       - some 160 used ones with cooling water blocks

       - some 2,000 water blocks.(attached pics).

Location for shipment is Bahrain.

Pls help who can buy these from us ?

The hardware forum is more for sales then support thread.  Can you show some pics of S4 cooled with water blocks? I'm curious to see what it looks like.

Also you might re-word it above as I highly doubt the S4's are truly new.... maybe new to you.  But for these S4's to have not been used and sit somewhere since being made such a long period is hard to believe.
1804  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 19 to Mar 3? picks are closed.... prize = 0.2 btc on: March 03, 2016, 06:39:42 PM
I really hope I win. Not because of the prize, and not because our cats love fishy treats.

I want to win because my pick is the largest negative value.

Of course I'd be just as happy if I lose because the difficulty goes down even more than our cats' guess.

If you win it's kinda a win for all miners.  To get a negative in that teritory would be great.  I would love to see it after how difficulty has been lately.

I do wonder what's causing it though.  I wish we knew this part.  What caused us to not surge this  period and go into negative... and also how long term is this going to happen.
1805  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are miners doing with their profits? on: March 03, 2016, 06:36:12 PM
People need to live and people are free to spend their money however they wish, as long as it isn't hurting others.

It is hurting us if they dump it all on the exchange for worthless fiat  Sad

They should hold on to more of it.

I think you will find it's not regular people causing most of the dumping.  The big mega miners are ones who I suspect do the most dumping.  They have machines they want to pay off in fiat, and also big expenses.  Also once they cash it out they have profit on books.

I think home/hobby account for very small section of dumping.  I personally re-invest after expenses. I'm in it for the long term for the most part... so guess we wont know for a while if I did right thing or not.

Honestly its hard to tell, i watched a documentary a while ago, where many miners were interviewed, chines ones (with cheap electricity) and some of the bigger individual ones and most of them were in a loss and still kept going.

They were all in the long term.

Look it this way, if we win, we will be the new elite. If we lose we lose a few months/years and a big portion of the capital invested.

I think the upside potential is far greater than the downside.

They interviewed the wrong ones then... these mega mines are making huge profit's.  Cheap electricity and a some linked to makers of machines.... that leads to massive profits.

It's common sense these big mines are the ones doing the most dumping.  And they can keep some but they are a far bigger percent of machines hashing then the home/hobby miner.

Home/hobby miners are small portion of hash at this point.
1806  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Btc wallet showed a higher total than it should, then they were lost when moved on: March 03, 2016, 04:59:54 AM
Yes, my wallet is core i believe. I am not advanced in comp science, everything I know I taught myself by just reading online. I have had this wallet for approx 3 yrs never had an issue. I am not sure what version, what i see is bitcoin qt. I'm not sure if that helps anyone. When I redownloaded the blockchain from the beginning, I reset my comp to an earlier save point. I was then forced to download all 365 weeks and when finally in sync, my balance was still 0.00  I think i will try to run my info thru a wallet block explorer as suggested. I am not sure how or which one is the best to use tho.
Another aspect of this dilemma is that the address I sent the wrong amount to no longer exists. It was at a market where the address gets regenerated every time you send coin there. I used the address my wrong amount was supposed to go to a few days later, and everything worked fine. The fact that that address was still available means that it definitely never made it to the market account. The old market addresses are wiped away forever after seven days of being used, and any coins sent to that address after seven days are lost forever. I believe my coins should be in my wallet still, but aren't being shown. Either that or they are floating around somewhere. I hope this helps the people who are willing to give me some advice. I thank everyone who has taken the time to offer suggestions.

Let it sync... hopefully it comes back and matches everything you think it should be.  Do you know your bitcoin address?  If you know that we can use a blockchain explorer to see if coins are still in it.

On second part using wrong address we need to again know more.  What site where you using when you say "market"?   There are a ton of sites so we cant say much unless you tell us where you sent it to.

But again if you tell us your bitcoin address you were using.... it would be the most helpful thing currently.  Other then that wait for blockchain on core to sync and hope it's there.
1807  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon6 Fan replacement? on: March 03, 2016, 04:49:47 AM
I would advise to first look for exact fan model as your option: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Delta-12038-FFC1212DE-12V-2-4A-server-fan-DC-Brushless-Fan-Cooling-Fan/542666457.html
It would be better if you use this one instead of using other fans in which some might have slower RPM and some stronger which each could give some little complication as result.

Hmm okay thanks. For now i used hot glue to make it fit in place and its fairly better, but i'd like to find a replacement in the near future. If no one come up with a cheaper/closer solution for that fan, i might buy it from there.

I don't know about cheaper but I would look for it on Amazon or somewhere else possibly if you are wanting it in a timely manor.  That listing guarantees 60 day's from china.  So you might be lucky and get much quicker.

But guaranteed date is not so good on timeline if you need it in any sort of hurry.  15 - 40 day estimate is just a huge range they picked.

I can't find any "FFC1212DE" around. And its not like i really need it in a timely manner, i could leave the hot glued one run for a long time i think its more a matter of proper-ness or resale.

Its just that if i order from China, it might not get here before i move, lol.

Sanyo ace makes a good substitute I use them on my rev 2 avalon6s

Maybe you can find them on Canada eBay.

I havent tried one on a A6.  But I did have good luck on S4's using them as replacements.   They were one of the recommended ones there and actually were faster then stock S4 fan's.  - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204199879-Antminer-S4-fan-specification-and-possible-replacement-fans

So I have nothing against Sanyo.   They seemed to work well for the price.  For full resale you are probley right about getting same model.

You try to contact Blockchain support? What they said about issue?
I'm sure if you mistakenly send coins to some other address or some thing wrong happens to your wallet they must have record of it.

Blockchain support? What is this and what for?

@OP, if you're able to, you should post the tx IDs if you have them.
They will help us a lot to solve your problem.

Unless you messed up sending to an address that isn't yours, you shouldn't panic and your coins aren't lost (if you really had them in the first place).

I think that person is assuming a blockchain.info account.   But from post sounds like OP used core.

What is your bitcoin address you were using OP?  If we know that.... we can see if there are coins in it or if no coins.  If coins are there hopefully it will sync up once downloaded (hopefully) if not I hope you made a backup of private key or wallet.dat.

We need more real info OP right now hard to help with information provided.

LOL  Still I hope he listed it as a 2.7T or that thing is going to be coming back.

Well congrats to you sir indeed it is COMING BACK G'Damnit...  Angry

I wish I hadn't panicked but you were exactly right but it's actually worse than you're original prediction.

It's not coming back for being a low hashing "runt."  I wish...No it's coming back with the following...

Feb 26The buyer requested a return:

Reason for return: Doesn't work or defective
Comments: Connected to Corsair AX1200 already used for scrypt miner. Daisy-chained to an already in place unit and starts up and then red-light blinking. Connected to naother PSU and separately to Rasberry and this unit will not hash. The unit is defective.

So now I'm getting back a totally red lighting non-functioning $700 albatross/loss

Totally pissed.

Thanks for the replies I'll be back in a few hours after I've tried every Platinum PSU I have on this PINT machine.

Not optimistic  Angry

You will have to play with it once you get it back.  Hopefully he was not use to a Avalon and did something wrong.... but hard to tell with how your unit sounds funky somewhere.

But yea... if you sell on ebay if there are ANY problems at all list them.  Heck list if its dusty even.  You cant sell a item as an A6 that is not working perfect, without warning buyer.   Even with no returns said and marked in this case it will come back to you guaranteed.

Hope you get it fixed... but you should have went against person who sold to you instead of trying to pawn off on someone else.
1812  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help trouble shooting Antminer S7 5.06TH on: March 03, 2016, 01:55:27 AM
Someone around here did post about don't upgrade s7 firmware before... It could brick your s7 due to the firmware only suitable for certain batch one.. Let me try find it for u...

If something is working good.... don't update the firmware.  There just is simply no reason.  Only bitmain one there was a great reason was one S3 firmware reset button did not work.... now that is huge deal update firmware.

If your gear is working don't touch the firmware.  You can have a brick for no gain.

But since you already did it, have you tried going back to firmware you were on previously?  And be careful power off problem scares me.... and if it does that during firmware upgrade or downgrade you chances are have a brick.

looking for dead bodies of ANTMINER S5+ chickens)

You are buying dead units?

Dead bodies? What? The heatsink, husk or the boards? I got some dead boards, i could sell one and the other with Sidehack's permission i guess.

Are your dead boards from S5 or S5+?   Normally it is harder to find dead ones of S5+ just was not a ton of them sold in that public batch.

It was one of my favorite miners though... it was one I was sad to part with.  It commonly went over a month.  For those with "cheap" or "free" electricity I highly recommend theses if your able to get them.
1814  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it worth to continue this mining operation ? [Video included] [Europeans] on: March 03, 2016, 01:42:21 AM
After doing a lot of research, visiting Dutch Bitcoin conventions (monthly) and questioning everyone with experience in mining/bitcoin, I was sure I could do it. The country I am originally from, has subsidised electricity. To make this easy for you to understand, the price is around 2 cent per KwH, as long as you don’t use more than 3000 KwH PER MONTH.

Depending on size of your house, and how many are there.  3000 KwH might not be as much as you are thinking.  I don't think of it as a huge amount.  Your right for the first tier you have good electricity rates.

What are other tiers and prices?  Also how many KwH do you normally use a month right now before adding a miner?

The list goes up to 6000 KwH per month which will cost around 300 USD. It is a lot more expensive since you will have around 5 cent per Kwh, but still not to bad. The stores and houses are not using a lot (200-700 Kwh per month).

Placing 5 S7's would get you around 5000 KwH per month of usage, which is also the maximum that will fit in a store.
25 TH/s per store/house would not be bad at all, since I know hundreds of store owners who would be willing  to cooperate.

If your top tier is 5 cent's that is not bad.  I think if you get into mining there is a good chance you will be on the top tier and max it out on that depending on how big you get.

I recently sold off all my last gen gear... it was a decent amount.  Turns out today they sent electricity company guy to make sure my meter was working right with the drop Smiley.  I was surprised as they never have cared with me living on a farm and having high electricity bills... but if it turns out they look closer when you drop a lot in a short period of time.
1815  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what do I use nowadays - Avalon Nano USB stick 4.3GH/s? on: March 03, 2016, 01:36:26 AM
If you have it already... maybe throw it on a RPI and run it as lotto for fun.  I will be honest my Avalon Nano is on my desk as more decorative at this point.  It is small and just a neat piece.

I'm lotto mining with compacs personally.  But it is not like my big gear, I'm not expecting a ROI on my lotto gear.  Its just for fun.
1816  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: best mining hardware in aprox 1btc. on: March 03, 2016, 01:34:25 AM
With free electricity you are very lucky.  Past gen is getting cheaper and cheaper.   I would look at S5, SP20, Avalon 4.1 myself if I had free electricity and looking short term.

Long term A6 or S7.  They just are a lot more efficient which means even more profit (hopefully).  But they cost more then past gen's.  So kinda depends on your game plan.
1817  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 19 to Mar 3? picks are closed.... prize = 0.2 btc on: March 03, 2016, 01:32:03 AM
To be honest I'm suprised I'm even in the running.  This period has been a roller coster, looked like down... .now going up a little.  Still would LOVE to see a negative just is a positive thing to have.

Price dropped around 15 dollars in 24 hours... so price not headed where I like it.

Hi all! Everyone will be given a 0.02BTC bonus for the late payments.

Hello , I'd appreciate if someone could answer me please .

I'm missing 1st week payment , and today It makes it 2 weeks payment and I suppose today is the activity reset ? which means I'm going to become hero ... so I'm not sure if the payments are coming first or the activity comes first .
If the activity comes first , should I change signature ? won't that miss my 2nd week payment or something ? asking to make sure

EDIT :
I just upgraded to Hero member and changed my signature , hopefully nothing will get screwed up .

I'm also missing both payment's. I figure once it reset's I will resets I will ask more.  But your not alone on still missing last and this payment.  But bot has not reset yet for this week, but will soon (or should).
1819  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does mining software work ? on: March 01, 2016, 07:37:55 PM
how much do the s7 produce on an average day now ?

You need to know which batch... they were not all the same.  But you can find out at: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

With that you can calculate it.  And keep in mind difficulty will make big changes over time.
1820  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The halving is comming. what's your next move? on: March 01, 2016, 07:36:19 PM
Right now, I'm waiting to get back into mining world, have been a while for me (since GPU mining days). The miners will surely lose value as well plus more efficient chips will be used on new generation miners and that will be my target (to purchase those) and get back.

The problem with waiting is there is always a newer generation coming.  You need cheap electricity is most important thing these day's.   It's hard to predict next gen prices, specs, what difficulty will be etc.

Most that say this never jump back in to mining.  Which is not a bad thing if you would not make profit.  But a lot say "next gen" and just always wait.  I suggest moving if its profitable... if not don't.   But not to just wait for new gear, there is always new gear.
