1801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC2] Einsteinium | Funding the future with the future of currency on: April 25, 2014, 08:34:23 AM
Certain financial companies buy back their own shares when price is low. Perhaps the Einsteinium dev teams should do the same.

I have done this before, and I am indeed considering doing it once again because of the price level. I will be investing in the coin on occasion beyond what I already have, which is considerable.

price isn't looking good now. Does it have anything to do with the wager in the few threads back, that the price of 400 satoshi will decide who's the winner? Hopefully the guy is not dumping so he can win the bet

hahahhaa, yeah I too saw that and wondered,

unlike my colleague above, I think the EMC2 could be easily manipulated it only takes a few btc to tip it in a specific direction and once it goes in that direction people decide to jump on the bandwagon or not.  The problem is once it goes too low the damage it causes might be permanent (more than a day or two to recover from) and have long-term implications.  Now when people are analyzing the CC and see this dramatic dip they won't be able to tie it to anything in the history of the CC or the market (the overall market is down, but not that far).  That level of instability will not be too promising particularly to those who are looking for day to day performance.   Before the hodlers get too encouraged by that, MOST of the money involved in ALL cc are speculative funds, people don't look at high risk markets for long-term (1+ yr) performance.

This downward trend is NOT representative of NORMAL market activity, and without a specific reason/cause to tie it to it MUST be viewed as malicious manipulation.    If dude wants to win the bet he's going to need lots of BTC to drive the price in a direction against it's obvious trend.

cool! ;p

I was feeling like crap having suffered the ills of the recent EMC2 nose dive, but somehow in a truly weird way that link was very encouraging.

tyke, I like the idea, when you said "book" is this physical, and if so how many CCs will be featured, and will this be the first edition?

50 coins will feature which are on bitcointalk at "cryptocurrency "the alt-ernative"". Topcoin reached the top 50 after the poll vote. I am working on publishing a first edition. These two pages for TOP will look more compact and informative very soon Smiley

What have you published in the past?
What are your deadlines for content contributions?

crymzyn, I'd like to know who make up the leadership for Topcoin?   What I mean by leadership is:

1) those who feel comfortable referring to themselves in that way,
2) those who are recognized by others as a Topcoin leader,
and or
3) those who are provided with a leadership title,

I have some ideas for the cryptocurrency that will likely increase its overall value.

1810  Economy / Service Discussion / noticed a rate change for cryptsy, where can I see the posted rates on: April 22, 2014, 09:54:18 AM
been away from cryptsy for a couple days, the slow down/audit was disturbing (notice some lage still exists), did some trades today and noticed that trades are .25 on both sides, I was so busy trying to get all of my other figures right I never noticed when the rates changed from .2%/3%  to .25%/.25%:

 -  how long ago did this occur?
 -  was there an announcement?
 -  where are the fees posted for the non-member public to see?

thanks
1811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TopCoin [TOP] - 12 game casino, 11 exchanges, safe from instadumpers on: April 22, 2014, 01:18:50 AM

I'm confused, if the value is nose diving on MintPal, why would you think it would you think it would be attractive to Cryptsy or anyone else (even mintpal if they didn't already have it)?

Please enlighten me as to the process of selection other than the monetary incentive.

thanks

Value of the coin makes no difference, exchanges makes money based on the amount of trades.

The value isnt nose diving. its actually going up, most of the dumpers have already dumped, and they cant get more unless the buy or multipool at hashcows

Please explain what "actually going up" means to you?  Because I don't see any upward momentum only a lot of enthusiasm (represented by volume) to have the opportunity to buy lower than the next guy.

What is the motivation to buy higher if you could buy 30 - 50% lower if you simply wait a few minutes?    It's now at 2.5 Satoshi, likely will be 1 Sat in two days, when that is bought out, what happen then, common sense says it hit rock bottom and must go up, but that isn't true.  It simply means an end to the BTC tie, so it simply goes to LTC and keeps going down as long as people think there is a future for the coin.

Please explain how the CC actually (as defined and understood by most people) goes up in value.  Or if it is easier for you, please explain why it would stop going down in value?

thanks

We were bouncing between 1 to 2 satoshi for quite a while, so the notch up to 2 to 3, even small... is indeed an increase.  It has proven to be a slow climb from the start, simply because of the sheer amount of coins that have been mined - nearly all 11.52 billion.  I'm sure there are plenty of people who will dump their mined TOP once they reach their exit point, so we will probably see this at all levels of value.  However, if we continue building the coin, community, and purpose, then the lower sell walls could easily evaporate with stronger hands realizing the potential for higher growth.

The community and devs have been focused and active, bringing new things to Topcoin consistently.  Sure, we could head back down for a bit, but I just don't see it happening.

Thanks for your reply, I suppose if your starting point is 2 and you see some occasional 3  that would be 'up', however that would be an extremely distorted picture of reality, let's start with this snap shot:

I don't know if it shows the whole picture, but it certainly shows all that is available via Mintpal.

In it we see, a starting point of 2 that went to a high of 4, as the days pasted the value grew to 10, then a few more days later it grew as high as 16, then from there it has nose-dived to 1 and 2 only to occasionally peek/peak at 3 or 4.

What is the short-term action plan (1 month) to get the value of TOP up and over 10 again?  Keep in mind that whatever was the old story to get you where you got to 10 the first time should not be recycled, because apparently that is now old news.

You want to get on Cryptsy, what has TOP's performance been since it's acceptance on other exchanges?  Do you feel you have outgrown those exchanges?

I see the volume, that is good but it is heavily concentrated below 10, as if those who seek to sell want to sell NOW, whatever the price.

In short, TOP is not ready for cryptsy, and and is in jeopardy of being delisted from mintpal if the performance continues in that direction, you may think its ONLY about the money, but it's actually about performance.  Everyone wants a winner, and no one wants to be known for hosting losers.

You got a big opportunity with Mintpal make it shine, make Cryptsy want to contact you because of TOP performance -- don't call yourself TOP while performing at the bottom.

No more excuses, make your opportunity at Mintpal count.

1815  Economy / Service Discussion / Buy Order Form, On Left Or Right Side? on: April 21, 2014, 06:08:09 AM
Up to now I thought it was standard to have 'Buy' order form on the left and 'Sell' on the right, but was introduced to SwissCex today and saw the reverse, made me realize NOTHING should be taken for granted.

TopCoin [TOP] is now on Europex : https://www.europex.eu/#coin/btc/top
Only 0.18% exchange fee
Only 0.00002 BTC fee for instant BTC withdraw

thanks for the advanced notice, I just came from there apparently they are in the process of updating their system to accommodate the coin

they really should default to BTC not mBTC.

Don't think paying for votes is the best approach. We'll eventually get there when we start getting noticed on the exchanges in which we are already listed Wink

How can we get noticed on mintpal with such low 24hrs volume? I'm really curious.

funny, that's how I heard of TOP and I have been on this forum for the beginning of the year

you never know how connections are made, exposure of all types is often a good thing

however I do agree that the payment for exchange inclusion is not a good idea
1818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ★★ EBT Coin - PoW/PoS - EBT Qt 2.0 Wallets Hardened against Heartbleed!!★★ on: April 20, 2014, 05:54:12 AM

For all that I gleam about EBT in terms of physical, mental, and electronic work that goes into EBT why is it that via Market Cap the coin's price and volume are both extremely low?

You have to have patience. EBT is a special brand of coin. First, send a transaction to your friend and see how long it takes to show up in your wallet. It's instant (although it does take about 3 minutes to be fully confirmed, by design). The EBT network is super fast and very healthy. Second look at any of the voting pages of the exchanges. The EBT team does not allow any bought votes because buying votes is for pump-and-dump coins. Third, look at the pre-mine. It's fully accounted for and the premine that has been spent has been spent completely on development.

EBT is a long-term coin. The philosophy of the development team is to keep EBT healthy in terms of the block chain and network as a long term objective. The idea is to build value by building adoption. This is done by maintaining a strong, dependable brand with a clean public image and also by extending the technology surrounding the coin. This won't put money in the pocket of short-term speculators any time soon, but it will reward users, miners, and long-term speculators ("investors") in time.

All of that is good, admirable in fact, but it doesn't preclude the CC from having higher present value, it doesn't stop anyone from buying the coin on an exchange, and it certainly doesn't stop anyone from profiting in the short run.

Today I saw a EBT volume for the day of $100, that' simply insane, there's no justification for that in my mind.  So I ask the direct question: Do you want the value to remain low, do you want the exchanges who have it to delist it, do you want all other exchanges to ignore it -- is that part of the overall long-term plan?

Auroracoin is nose-diving, I actually recommended that they request being delisted from the exchanges because it is simply hurting their brand.  For them a low price wards-off investors allowing holders to keep their CC more in-house.   So I know there are reasons for most of the things that happen, but when those things aren't obvious, questions are asked.  That's why I'm asking -- why, is it by design, is that what you want?

If not, I assure you, even as a rookie, I could have that price increased dramatically in days.

1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Microcoin MRC Rally on MintPal has just taken off! All day Rally! on: April 19, 2014, 07:56:31 PM
Lots of talk going on. Buy volume is rapidly increasing. It's taking off!

Take a look at spread and volume increase. Walls are shifting FAST!

CoinRocket was right again!  Grin

Go Microcoin!

Cheers!

Strato

"rapidly increasing", "taking off", "spread", "walls" ... you are amazing.

Well, I suppose all is true in the strict technical sense.

I just make someone 100% profit on his money. because he purchased at 1 and I purchased his coin at 2.

The Hack – The Resolution
Posted by AllCrypt Staff on March 25, 2014
I’m happy to report that we have recovered 55,685.92170221 BTCS that were stolen on Friday the 21st. And can now relate the rest of the story.

Shortly after we posted the first blog entry including the address the BTCS was withdrawn to, we were contacted by Jay of MintPal via twitter (tweet since deleted, I think to keep the info quiet) and submitted a ticket on our support system. He told us that he saw the blog post and out of curiosity, he checked their system. The address the coins were sent to was a MintPal address. The users account was locked down pending investigation.

Emails flew back and forth. Apparently the thief claimed that he did a normal withdrawal from his AllCrypt.com account and didn’t know why we were picking on him. MintPal wanted to be thorough and make sure my story was true and that he wasn’t accidentally screwing up his own user’s account.

AllCrypt provided logs, and we verified IP addresses and email addresses used by the thief. MintPal confirmed it was the same on their site. We signed messages using the sending BTCS addresses in question to verify we owned the address the coins came from. The thief said that he could prove that it was a valid transfer. How, I’ve no idea, because the coins were stolen from three different accounts. He was given a deadline which came and went.

In the meantime, AllCrypt.com relaunched. We were contacted on Sunday by a user who claimed to have found a vulnerability in our system (here’s the vulnerability he found: If you append garbage to the market?id= string on the market pages, some of that data appears in the backto= link that is used to send you back to the page you were on after logging in. HTML tags are stripped and all funny characters are escaped, so do it all you want – it just makes a broken link. Actually – don’t. You’re going to eventually type something that gets your IP banned).

Anyway, assuming it to be someone trying to be helpful and them not realizing we increased our security, I replied and told him that it’s a non issue.

He then said that we should reward him. What? No. I told him to piss off. He then threatened to sell the information to “other russians” and proceeded to try to extort a “reward”. Then to prove his point that he “found data” he quoted something he “just found” – information that no longer existed. Stuff he saw on Friday when he hacked the site. Stuff that, while we were down, we changed, renamed, moved, and tightened security on. In other words – on Sunday when we relaunched, the information did not exist anymore. So the only way he could have seen it was to have seen it Friday. The asshole came back and was now trying extortion.

The thief told the MintPal devs that the coins had come from a BTCS address here at AllCrypt. In fact, the address is attached to the account the thief made here. And that account had never received or sent a single coin. Apparently, the guy is an imbecile and is too stupid to realize that’s a simple check (Oh, yes, I am intentionally being inflammatory).

More emails between us and MintPal, and the devs over there became convinced he was the thief.  They returned what was left that the thief had not already moved out of MintPal -55,685.92170221 BTCS.

We want to thank Jay and Jason at MintPal for their honesty and integrity in helping resolve this situation. They went above and beyond (including enduring my barrage of harassing emails while their servers were experiencing issues – a fact I was not aware of while I was pestering them) in helping bring this to a positive resolution. Unfortunately, due to laws in the country they operate (I honestly don’t know where they are based) they could not divulge information they have on the thief.

I, however, could give a rats ass about that.

The IP addresses he accessed AllCrypt.com from:
212.83.157.140
212.7.218.136
109.202.157.143
94.23.191.244
184.170.137.139

The email address he used both here and at MintPal: jennerjens04@gmail.com
Another email address used here: anon7318@gmail.com
The BTC addresses where he attempted to withdraw BTC to but was unsuccessful:
1QKJDJSGz24JFY3rKiv6b9SKuRMLD4nZN2
1HZ8m5vQpJ6RT6vceuCCSQDwzWPvh4nNAE

All other withdrawals were to MintPal addresses so it would be pointless to track anything there.

If anyone finds anything out on this guy we’d love to know.

The coins will be proportionally distributed to the three who lost them.

Again – Jay and Jason over at MintPal – class acts. If only all exchange devs were as open and had as much integrity as they do. Of course we are competitors, both being crypto exchanges, but it’s nice to see us being able to work together for the common good. I can end a horrible day (personal reasons) with a smile on my face.

Thanks all.

With the exception of the unnecessary curse words,  this info needs to be well documented not just a reference link

It's time you guys get a company wide security audit, there may be more vulnerabilities you need to address.
