1801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When Bottom? on: October 02, 2022, 12:25:57 PM
Taking a look at prices at coinmarketcap isn't giving me hope we are at the end of the bear market yet.
But the charts and the overpriced assets (Shiba Inu, Dogecoin, etc.) are not the only indicators.

There's an event we are waiting for that should finally end and that's no other than the MtGox coins release. Certainly, Bitcoin's price is decisive for the whole market.

Maybe the release of 100,000 BTC will not be that damaging. Sure if everyone sells, we will find new levels, but right now, I think it is the only event investors wait to begin buying both Bitcoin and altcoins.
Nobody wants to buy fearing MtGox holders will dump their 9 year forced-hodled coins. Maybe they won't but it is fear of a dump that blocks many investors at this point.
The soonest the MtGox BTC are released, the better for everyone in this market. The FUD will end, and if prices drop then we get a discount.

You do have a point but on the other hand we can also consider this that everyone has seen the ATH.
Keeping that in mind do you think people will actually sell their coins at a 70% discount from it's ATH.
If you were about to get those bitcoins, would you really sell it at such low prices ? I wouldn't.
So this may actually give a pump in bitcoins price thinking that people are holding such huge amount of coins.
1802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this statiscally possible in a lottery? on: October 02, 2022, 12:20:05 PM
Just because all the numbers in the lottery are divisible by 9 it doesn't mean that the lottery is rigged.
It might just be a mere coincidence. As you are saying they draw the lottery live then we can give them the edge in that case.
But yeah, if this happens on a frequent basis may be then we can raise this question on them.
You can take out all the previous draws and compare them to find a matching pattern.
1803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Describe what Bitcoin has done for you on: October 02, 2022, 11:48:20 AM
Bitcoin is a remarkable technology and it has made me into a different person today.
I learnt to be patient since I have witnesses the bull and bear cycles.
I learnt to have some discipline by regularly investing in bitcoin at different time intervals.
I cultivated the habit of saving more just so that I can invest more.
Bitcoin also improved my vocabulary since reading and posting on this forum enhanced my grammatical skills.
Bitcoin gave me some really cool friends on this forum from whom I get to learn a lot of things.
Finally bitcoin made me stick to the technology and made me an independent person which I am today.
1804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin whale is ready to sell 5000 Bitcoins or already sold. on: October 01, 2022, 02:41:13 PM
This is another one of those FUD threads.
Here's the previous one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5411713.0

The answer is again:
-You don't know if the coins were sold or just transferred.
-Not many people choose to sell thousands of bitcoin on centralized exchanges especially old bitcoins held for many years.
-Nobody cares!. People buy and sell every single day. If you do this at a 70% discount and yearly lows, you're a fool.

That makes sense. Why would anyone sell their coins at such cheap prices when they know that the ATH is way ahead.
Unless they know something that we don't they won't sell their coins.
There are only two reasons I can think of anybody would sell their coins at such low price.
Either they anticipate a higher sell off or are in urgent need of big money.
1805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Favorite Misconceptions About Bitcoin on: October 01, 2022, 02:28:51 PM
For me it goes like I explain them about bitcoin and then they buy bitcoin. But soon after that, lets say after a few months they keep saying that it didn't increase much.
Mostly its because it has been falling for the last few months but I had already told them to invest only for the long term.
Yet they keep complaining about the price keeping on dropping every month. They don't listen when I say them that I told you to invest for a long term.
So forget about the price for next 3 years.
1806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My worst day in gambling on: October 01, 2022, 02:19:27 PM
I believe everybody has their worst day in gambling especially if you started gambling early maybe in your teenage age. My worst day was when I used my school fees to gamble because I thought I will make more money to take care of some of my needs in school. At the beginning I was making profit for 2hrs,I was carried away with the anxiety of winning but later the game turned round and I was losing and losing,I didn't quit hoping I will recover my lost. Before I knew it I was left with 10% of the money I started with, I couldn't just quit the game then because I still feel I will start winning again but luck failed me and I got drained of all I have on me.

Two weeks later it was announced in school that we only had one more week left for closure of school fees payment, I tried borrowing, seek for help everywhere but nobody could help me with the money.  This was how I couldn't pay my fee for that semester and went home with carry overs after the end of the semester as I was not allowed to write some exams.

How about you do you had a worst day on gambling  that you will never forget ?Did it affect an aspect of your life and how ?

Damn, that is surely bad. I know a person who did the same and he basically emptied all his college fees in something.
Just like you even he was not allowed to write the exams. But I hope you learnt a lesson from this event and never repeated such an act.
Gambling is not a bad thing but it's definitely bad when we do it over the limits.

Just got a surprise from freebitco.in today. Tada ....

One year passed just like that. The returns are decent enough but if I see the value in USD pair then returns are drastically low.
I don't mind though since I am getting the WoF spins in return with an extra interest.
May be I will reinvest these tokens.

One year flies by and I received a similar email some days ago. The interest is indeed quite nice and because of the low price, I just locked them again (now only for 90 days). I think everybody hopes that the price will shoot up higher in the near future but right now the price is pretty stable.

I was thinking the same. I thought of locking all the coins for 90 days as well.
I locked the coins while writing this post. In the next 90 days the year will almost end.
Excited to see how much the crypto market will evolve by then .

Good decision to lock them up again. I don’t think it’s a problem to lock them for another year. You can always enjoy higher benefits and even if the prices shoot up for the FUN and you have them locked up you can always be sure to get 25% extra as compared to the market whenever you get them back from freebitcoin. It’s always great idea to keep them locked up and FUN is not going anywhere considering they have freebitcoin websites backing. They do have even higher stake holders at binance with same APY. I think higher the lock period better is chance you get returns.

I didn't wanted to lock my FUN tokens for a whole year this time and so decided to lock them for 90 days.
At 90 days we get an APY of 15% which is still a great deal according to me.
Once it is matured I will rethink about locking up for a longer time.

That's basically spoiling your own kid. Even if he is a billionaire, he should still make his kid understand the value of money.
He would have worked hard to accumulate that kind of wealth. In this case he should make his kid know how to earn money first.
By allowing him to spend so much money on gambling and drinking he is just spoiling the kid's life to be honest.
If all the money is vanished then it will be really hard for his son to leave the lavish lifestyle and earn money.
We never know what happens tomorrow.

1810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My feelings after 11 years with crypto. on: September 30, 2022, 02:21:18 PM
The whole point of early bitcoiners selling all their bitcoins at cheap prices is due to the fact that bitcoin price had spiked up so much.
If the same would have happened in the opposite direction and bitcoin would not have gained so much in price then these people wouldn't have worried so much.
May be they are unfortunate that bitcoin gained so much traction but they are still at a good place because bitcoin is still cheap.
Even if they get in now chances are that they will gain huge profits in future and yet there are many who selling at such cheap prices.
The same people will worry when bitcoin price will touch the new ATH. So the cycle repeats.
Many of the early bitcoiners sold their earnings once the price raised or after the crash, some others in between for low price.
There is another part that stopped dealing with bitcoin although having funds and lost every connection with those frozen and lost forever money.
I assume most people didn't expect to see Bitcoin skyrocketing that high otherwise the situation would be different.
I joined in the middle of the actual road if we could say that, so I have an idea about the past and it was sad for many and glorious for a couple of people.

Yeah, if people would have thought that bitcoin could reach such heights many would have surely hold their bitcoins.
In fact there are some people who are still holding their coins and enjoying the ride.
There is a Youtuber from the early days who begged people to buy few bitcoins back then and it was only a few dollars worth then.
On the other hand there are others who spent 10k BTC on a pizza yet they don't regret their decision.
So it pretty much depends on us on how to react on our own decision. We can either regret or move on to find better opportunities.

1812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's in for crypto wallet companies? on: September 29, 2022, 04:11:46 PM
5. Some wallets have advertisements and gain ad revenue from them
How is your last point valid? Can you use a crypto wallet that shows ads when you launch and try to make some transactions?
It's like showing some banners or connecting it to google adsense (if it's a website). I don't know if google adsense is available for those desktop wallets where they can be placed at the top of the interface of that wallet.
But most likely, it's like having those advertisements that has come from their inquiry. I can't really remember if I've used and saw one that has it on its own platform.

Yeah you are right. There are some wallets which do provide advertising especially on mobile apps.
For instance the open source wallet Mycelium has this kind of advertising. Obviously this generates revenue to the developers.

The entry for the lottery to win the lambo is only 1 ticket. There are plans to start a pool here on this forum to combine all the golden tickets but the requirement to join the pool is 10 tickets.

Wow, it's the first time I am hearing about such pool on this forum. Can you share the link to it ?
Do you know how it works and when will the pooling start ? Also, how are they going to hold the tickets?
So many questions popping up already.

As far as I know, this is just an idea from some forum members, so all your questions have not been answered, if this is really implemented then there must be terms and conditions on who will hold the money. If it's really implemented, I'm very interested in following it

For the moment only me and slaman29 have pooled together our tickets,we have near 110 or something like that in total together. We have exchanged our ID and if lady luck hits us (which I doubt will do) with a win we will split the prize together. We are trying this experiment right now the only two of us but in the next draw most probably we can do with more people if they are interested, the only requirement is the minimum of 10 GT tickets each person and the prize is shared equally between all members no matter who has the most tickets because without each other our chances would be much smaller.

That's an interesting approach. But don't you think it's a little unfair when you are holding a large number of tickets and the other is holding bare minimum 10 tickets.
Shouldn't it be like the number of tickets you hold is directly proportional to the reward share you will get.

10 GT tickets = 0.0025 BTC  not bad actually. Minimum tickets make sense.

this issue of crossing the line doesn't just happen to newbies, in most cases it happens to people who are already playing for a long time, because games have one thing: the more time we dedicate to it, the more money we start to put into it and the more we sink because we start to lose more money in the game, but this process is not fast, and something that takes some time to find that we start spending more time in the game and we start to lose more money in the game, that's why I said that people who are the longest in the game and who are the most people who spend the most time in the game and who lose the most money in the game. in my case, for example, there was a time when I spent a lot of time in the game and it took me time to realize and stop it

That is true. Until we realize that we are spending more than usual time on gambling, we tend to spend more than we can afford to lose on gambling.
Fortunately, I realized this fact just after the initial few months when I started gambling.
It hit me hard when I found out the money I lost in gambling and a point of self realization struck my mind that whatever we do, we have to lose our money in gambling eventually.
So I took a break from gambling started fresh with a fixed budget for gambling. So far it's going good.
When I was attracted to gambling in the beginning, I was very happy. But when I started to gamble for a long time, once a moment everything in my life was starting random. I spent about 10-12 hours in gambling. But when I realized that it was addiction, I tried to take some breaks myself and later I was able to control it even though it was very tough. Now I gamble at a specified time and I spend my wining gambling money for the fun or entertainment.

Damn, 10 - 12 hours every day is definitely a high number of hours you had spent on gambling.
It's good that you had the self control to come out of it and gamble within your limits. It must have been hard though.
In my case, even if I win any amount from gambling I spend it again on gambling itself.
Thus I spend less on gambling and more on other things.

There are lots of people in similar situations to the OP. I think for those who were in bitcoin really early & lost it all, its worse for them than noobs who come now & cant even buy 1 full bitcoin.

The thing is, life is too short. You cant spend your life full of regret. Embrace life, make the best of it & start buying bitcoin again. You probably wont be in as good a position as you would have been if you HODLED but youll still be in a better position than most of the world.

Dust yourself down & go again.

If you are asking if the person is addicted or not then I would definitely say yes because if that person is spending huge amount just for in game items then he must really be addicted to the game.
We can surely play games to an extent and buy some instore items but spending huge amount is something that only an addict would do.
It might also be a choice by preference but that is something when you are a millionaire and you don't know what else to do with your money.
Way back then, you will be called as donator if you bought an in game items I remember the game Ran online here which Im addicted to before. Well, gamers understand the risk and many still want to spend their money for the items that can make their character more better, we might not understand them but this is how they played the game.

I can relate to that. My whole POV is based on the game of PubG. It's a very famous game as we all know and I have heard so many cases in my country related to this game.
I have seen how people are glued to their mobile phones all day long and heard cases in news that some kids spent huge money for in game purchases.
Some stole money from their home to buy the in game items. This is why I think all those people who don't have self control over a game are basically addicted to it.

As far as the crypto market is operating there will be such coins which are don't have any potential in the long run.
They might show good results in the beginning but as time goes their value fall over the period and at one point the price will dump to no return.
All of these coins are developed just for the hype. There's no usecase to such coins. Buying these coins will put us in a huge risk.
It's better to buy only the established coins with real use cases.

Hello,
Is Terra Classic scam or does it have a chance of success?

Thank you.

I wonder why are people still asking such questions even after such a big event in the crypto history made everyone aware of how worthless is the Terra project.
After the huge collapse, it became evident that Terra will cease to exist. In fact, it was surprised when Terra launched the 2.0.
I knew it won't survive for long and so did it happened. I will still recommend people to stay away as far as possible from Terra.
