One good point posted by Docnaster is that people should promote local products and more important buy local. It doesn't make sense to import products from the opposite of the world. Why buy milk from 10 hours driving when there are farmers in you area. Farmers who struggle to sell their milk for a decent price (as for exemple in Europe the price is controlled by europe, farmers don't decide the price they want to sell, crazy isn't?) There are farmers who for exemple, producing 1L of milk cost them 0.50$ and they are forced to sell it at $0.35. Where are the profits ? If the big firms were acting like this they would go bankrupt in no time... There are farmers working 60 hours per week and earning less than someone lazy ass and feed by the gov. money each month. Now since some years there are companies that finally realized buying local not only help the local economy but it cost them cheaper at the end. Less import cost, less this, less that.
It is not the fault of big milk companies but we cannot blame the farmers either or the government. But the moment we saw this problems at hand we must in our power to do something about it. The thing we should do is to organize the farmers and create an association and tap the government for assistance. That way those farmers will upgrade their technology while increasing production and capturing a large market. The majority of Western countries pay subsidies to agricultural workers. I don't know why under capitalism choose such a strategy. This leads to the fact that the price of food is very low and the farmers are always under threat of ruin. Capitalism is also about extremely good marketing, which to me works to reverse the traditional supply and demand rule. I lived for most of my life in Asia, where food products from Europe are marketed as "better" than local produce. Marketing makes a product like muesli suddenly desirable when local fresh produce is a fraction of the cost but people suddenly demand European products because they now believe they need them. Capitalist marketing creates demand, and then gets the supply to meet it. Local produce is driven down in price to attract more sales but it never works.

I don't mind trying out these new apps, especially if they're quite lightweight (this version only needs 16MB). Sharing my initial experience:
Each of the 8 faucet will show you 1/2 videos of 20-30 seconds each, after which the reward is given in the following amounts:
0.0000001 BTC 0.00001 LTC 0 DOGE (No reward) 0.00005 PPC 0.000001 ETH 0.00002 DASH 0.00005 XPM 0.00002 XMR
First impression: not worth the time compared to other faucets. Roughly 100 satoshis or less for 8 minutes. But if you really like the idea of small dust, it's relatively clean.

Before I send a PM (with interest in one of the positions), would you be able to furnish some basic details on remuneration? Hopefully, this will be in existing crypto and not tokens - or at least in part. It will be quite difficult to hold down anyone working only for tokens, as promising as it sounds at the moment!

Nice a pay to play game that pays in altcoins amazing o.O And more importantly it's an MMORPG base game this is i guess the first, ive ever seen. I just have a few questions:
Is this a 2D Animation like the web game AQworlds? or its 3D ? Sorry i havent look at the game yet cause im using a smartphone. Can i earn altcoin in doing some quest and how much would i earn from doing a normal quest?
I've been playing for over a month now - just restarting actively. I'm more of a hobbyist than a hardcore gamer, so that means I spend perhaps an hour or so per day. It doesn't take long to Level up to 15 which lets you do a lot of significant things. My tip is to wait a bit til you get the EXP bonus from the Chat bonus. It bumps you up the levels in no time at all, allowing you to explore a bit farther. I haven't earned a LOT of alts from the game, but I should say that for the fun, humour and gamesmanship, it's a lot more worth than dust from faucets. As replied above, the in-game Dragon Points are what you might want to gun for as a serious gamer. That in the long run is worth a lot of crypto.

A mid-term correction has been due for a while, ever since the turn of Christmas - the surprise was that the dip after New Year disappeared so quickly. It's hard NOT to see a return to mid800 and 900 in 2017, even if it has to be only temporary. Bitcoin is in a position of strength now but we've all seen over the years how unexpected (or now shall we say expected) events such as significant security incidents on major exchanges can deal a blow to crypto value.
|
|
|
There's always that risk of storing crypto online, in site wallets, a lesson that should have been learnt many times over from the past security incidents (I don't want to say again but let's say MG). It's an acceptable risk for myself, having small amounts of coins in various site wallets - easy access and long-term savings on transaction fees - but the point is never to keep the coins you can't afford to compromise in anything other than a wallet you secure yourself.
Overall, bad news for the community, but hardly a surprise.

Just came back to internet and bct, and have applied to the signature campaign for CoP, so will of course be looking forward to developments that I'm helping to promote here.
Reading the tweet/post on loyalty points is possibly one of the truths we can all relate to: never using up loyalty points. Every few years I am in a country and sign up for perhaps 3 or 4 new loyalty cards and collect points which I never end up using. If CoP can find a way to unite this industry, it's going to be an easy sell to people like me.
Good luck!

Moore's Law is no longer tenable, as microchip manufacturing has (ironically) hit it's the technological limits.
aww..... that's just precious. Indeed... After decades of educated people making the same hurried conclusions that the human race has at various intervals and industries hit its technological limits only to be proven premature not much later in the future, we'll continue to have people we can rely on to make the same (misguided) conclusions. I always find that precious=)

I have seen someone ask him probably twice about the unique reward system and they received no answers. I'm not sure why the Dev advertises the unique reward as a feature for chicks if he is not willing to stick to it. It was suppose to be changed every week and now it looks like its completely off and not valid. Only the vote will gain you some extra chicks. Also the faucet is down ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) Thanks for the response. I suppose we should take that as the answer you're hinting at. In any case, my vote #61 is up at TradeSatoshi, and happy to see that CKS price is up 30% from 4 weeks ago at Nova. Cheers.

I had syncing problems for a week, but that was probably due to my internet which has been screwy for a week. Didn't allow me access even to this forum. Looks to be fine for the time being. Just want to say thank you to Dev for the vote rewards sent a week ago. I've restarted my voting on TS... btw, not sure I have been getting any of the rewards for holding >100 CKS, even after several weeks. Is there any way to find that out?
THANKS!

today fransdragon finished 2 quests and killed a lot of monsters
Fransdragon, well done! So good to be unable to come online for a week and find that new people have joined the light. Did you say you were a Dutch dragon? Will you be having legions from the Netherlands find enlightenment with DK2?

Happy Valentine's day to all and to BlackMamba for running a great programme, which I hope other campaigns can learn from.
Thank you to the qtum team. We had hoped to run the full 7 weeks but we shall follow the developments. See you all in March!

Additionally, look no farther than this forum's very own currency exchange section at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0Go for escrow if you like, or choose a member with high trust ratings, or wing it like I did early on and get lucky/unlucky. You're new so, go safe and pay higher fees.

I think mass adoption would be easier if we started referring to BTC as mBTC as a standard. Many people that don't know much or anything about BTC get discouraged right away when they find out 1 "coin" is about $1000. In their mind they automatically compare it to a dollar and they feel like they can't even buy 1 BTC so why bother.
Also many people ask how the heck I can buy something for $24 if the base unit is worth $1000. I know this is pretty simply to understand that they are divisible and with a little explaining people get it, but first impressions mean a lot. The less difficulty someone has initially to understanding and/or accepting something the more of a chance they will feel like they can use it.
What if the community starts referring to BTC as mBtc as a standard to help along with the psychological factor of mass adoption. What do you think?
First off, the harshness of criticism against this idea is uncalled for. Clearly, if a newcomer feels that the denomination is an issue, then it is. That said, I see nothing wrong with satoshi and bitcoin, and using decimals. In your example, you say people will give up over the idea that 1 coin is $1000, what makes you think they'll warm up to the idea of mBTC? Stick to the idea of the currently 8 decimal places and the use of satoshi as the smallest unit. With time, it will be the norm.

A fool is born every minute, they used to say. It's strange that with people getting more informed, more aware, more educated and getting more advice, the confidence artist will never run out of work.
I suppose greed really is the common denominator.
Stay away from too good to be true, guys.

Deal went smoothly, advertisement went up on the site as advertised. Thanks for your professional service.
Not that you have to, but do share conversion rates when your campaign is over. 1 million out of 40 means you get exposure to 2.5% of his visitors. Raw views anyway. I'd like to try it out if I could even get 1% clickthrough and 1% of that to convert.

Surprised I missed this poll earlier. I voted yes without hesitation - but my support does not equal endorsement.
1. I support plurality of opinion, this forum is all the better for it. 2. Scrape away the padding and there are some useful truths (I don't say facts) in his posts. 3. As OP says, a lot of thought goes into his posts, if not a lot of consideration.

Has anyone done any serious studies on electricity consumption due to cryptocurrency related activities like mining? Possibly with comparison between different currencies and feasibility of maintaining such consumption? Is there an argument to be made for or against them in the context of global warming?
Let me ask you this.... Has anyone made a study of the electric consumption and eco footprint of ALL the banks in the world and also the electricity and resources being spend to mine resources for metals for coins and also to manufacture paper currencies globally. Then they need to include the transport of this currency and security systems needed to guard it. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) ..... I bet you, if you compare that to Bitcoin mining, you will not even have to ask this question. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) { ATM's run 24/7 and how much electricity do they use? } No question. Banking's energy use far outstrips current bitcoin use, but I'm actually not sure how much less crypto overall is using in relative terms to achieving the same purposes and needs. Bitcoin alone might "win" this argument but if you were to count all the cryptocurrencies just focused on nothing but trading and mining..?
