1823  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-05-01] Steam now accepts bitcoin on: May 02, 2016, 01:12:45 AM
The rate of stories ending “now accepts bitcoin” has slowed down from the pace it was at a couple years ago, but this one’s a big one. Get out your internet wallets, because Steam now accepts bitcoin.

Bitcoin service Bitpay has announced that it has partnered with Steam to allow users to pay using the cryptocurrency.

“Valve reached out to us because they were looking for a fast, international payment method for emerging gaming markets in countries like India, China, and Brazil,” wrote Bitpay business director Rory Desmond.

1824  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: April 11, 2016, 03:12:12 AM
Some of the similarities shared between gold and bitcoin are same as the properties of ideal money. These features include –

Durability – Bitcoin and gold are both durable. While gold being an inert metal can withstand chemical reactions to stand the test of time, Bitcoin will continue to exist as long as the internet is around.

Transferability – In order to serve its purpose, it should be possible to change hands easily. Both bitcoin and gold can be both physically transferred and exchanged in return for other currency, goods, and services.

Scarcity – Something in excess supply will not have enough demand. Luckily both gold and bitcoin scare. There will be only 29000000 bitcoins in circulation ever making it valuable enough to be a medium of exchange.

Divisibility – Bitcoin is highly divisible, it can have divided by 100000000 times. However, with gold, it is not that easy but yet possible.

Fungibility – Bitcoin and gold are fungible, they can be easily substituted by another bitcoin or the same quantity of gold without any change in the value.

Recognizability – Both bitcoin and gold are both impossible to counterfeit and it can be easily detected.

1829  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-04-11] ShapeShift Decides to Rebuild Service Following Cyber-Attack on: April 11, 2016, 02:36:29 AM

"Hackers didn't steal Bitcoin from customers"

By design, ShapeShift is unique among all other Bitcoin traders because it doesn't require users to create accounts. The service lets users transfer funds from one Bitcoin wallet to another using a universal transactions dashboard.

It's because of this unique design that the attackers weren't able to steal any funds from the users utilizing ShapeShift's service.

"By design, ShapeShift doesn't hold customer balances, so even in the case of a security breach, there is no customer money at risk," said Mr. Voorhees. "We've built customer protection into our platform – hacks may be inevitable, but customer losses should not be. Not a cent of customer funds was lost, nor could they have been."

With bitcoin, you save the money in your own wallet. With Paypal, you trust it to store your money.

if paypal fail,, or maybe the cloud eror, hacked, ddos etc. (anything can happen) , then you lost your money Roll Eyes

1834  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-04-11] Keygen alert: free password generator released for PETYA ransomware on: April 11, 2016, 01:54:51 AM
The PETYA ransomware is just one of the recent examples of malware that encrypts victims' hard drives until a fee is paid. The advice from the government is not to pay the ransom -- or at least not expect to get a decryption key if you do -- but a password generator has been created that means you can decrypt your hard drive for free.

While TeslaCrypt 4 boasts 'unbreakable encryption', the same cannot be said of PETYA, although the PETYA ransomware does have the irritating habit of overwriting MBRs. This does mean that there is no way to interact with the drive on the infected computer, but with access to a spare machine to read the drive and access to the online tool created by Leostone, you could have your data back in seconds. As the tool's website proudly proclaims, you can "Get your petya encrypted disk back, WITHOUT paying ransom!!!" -- here's what you need to do.

1835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: April 11, 2016, 01:50:24 AM
Earning 1 btc is not a big deal as I feel that is achievable very easily by working on signature campaign and I feel that you can earn it before  1 year.

at this time it's very easy but in 10year later, i think we will very hard to find campaign paying arround 0.035/week. in last year we can find campaign paying arround 0.1-0.2/week like coinomad and now .. ?

1837  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-04-11]Bitcoin Price Analysis — How to cash in on the upcoming price action on: April 11, 2016, 01:45:31 AM
Market Sentiment

This section is based on internal (anonymized) Whaleclub trading data and is published exclusively on BNC.

Current Active Long vs Short Volume Ratio: 2.5:1

Average Active Long vs Short Volume Ratio: 1.8:1

We have a 50% excess in active long volume relative to the average. The average weighted long entry price is $418.28, which is lower than the current market price - on average, active longs are in the green.

Sentiment is bullish, and the bears have again failed to make lower lows, with relatively little action or volatility in the bitcoin markets. Nobody is really sure why, but it looks like a storm is brewing. However, one thing is certain; once the market chooses a direction after this months-long consolidation, the trend it creates will be strong and long-lasting. And that time may come soon.

1838  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin hit $600 this year or down to $200? on: March 31, 2016, 08:04:06 AM
I think bitcoin is now the best online invest option. But before investing part of  capital in bitcoin, i would like to know what people think about bitcoin price will stay on this year.I do think that it will rise up to $600 but i am asking myself why it wouldn't down to $200 this year?

Will it hit $600 this year or down to $200? let me know what you think about it.

the block halving is biggest issue why bitcoin price can't go down again like last year. some people who know mining bitcoin is not profitable change his plan from mining bitcoin to buying bitcoin, so the buy wll very strong.
1839  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do you buy Bitcoins? on: March 31, 2016, 08:01:40 AM

1840  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: March 31, 2016, 07:59:22 AM
Well the concept of bitcoin of reduce reward is to force bitcoin to go up,there is no sure that will happen, soo well holding any ammount now and dont sell at the first jump ,may turn into a retirement opportunity in around 5 -10 years, something you would need to wait or 25 years or 35 years to get retired.

the halving is make bitcoin unique, with halving make bitcoin more rare, also this is make bitcoin price rising each year.....

true more halving more rare it is and for that more it will be value so just keep it  Grin

so in the end of halving we can reach $20.000 ... ? Grin
after bitcoin can't mineable and all people use it, im sure the value of bitcoin will be rise
