I do think a primary focus should be the decentralized exchange. Bitcoin users wanting privacy are stuck with current mixers or waiting for Darkwallet. Allow them the ability to do it easily through Dark and you beat them to the punch. Allowing a decentralized marketplace to exchange BTC into DRK and vice versa could bring in a nice new flow of BTC.

People keep posting this notion but could someone draw me a diagram please because I'm not seeing how it would practically work.

Where are the magically 'clean' Bitcoins coming from?

maybe we should avoid calling it DarkTor.. maybe we should call it DarkFreedom

DRKTor sounds good to me.

Its already got a brand name that people understand.

DRKTor Who?

ewok, as a croak gobbler, are you panicking about your croak wallet hosting a croakmarket full of overpriced weed?

Or not, since it'll probably never actually work anyway?
1824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | DarkSend+ Is Live! on: August 19, 2014, 07:36:56 PM
Tor and legality:

- if the provider (exit node owner) has no control over data send through his node and he is not snooping data in any way there is no responsibility for the data handled. This is exactly what Master Node Tor will look like.

Yes this is the law theory, yet still you have incidents like what happened in Australia where the cops essentially raided a guys home with a SWAT team because he was running a Tor exit relay. I'm struggling to find cases in the USA where people were arrested for operating Tor nodes. There must be at least one, maybe a test case?

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jul/29/us-government-funding-tor-18m-onion-router

The US govt publicly funded TOR to the tune of $1.8 million last year, the Aussie guy was probably borking up their 100% exit node coverage, causing an annoying little red dot on someone's screen.

edit: There's a bunch of ways Evan could implement new features, personally I would just put the hooks in the daemon and have anything else as a separate package. Don't want to run it? Don't install it.

Most of crypto runs on open source hardware. Please explain?

Go ask AMD for their full hardware schematics and driver source code, retard.

Existing TOR users rejoice! You can now avoid routing all your traffic straight through Langley, at about 10x the speed you currently enjoy suffer.

What about IP obfuscation

That'll be a prerequisite for DarkTor - Evan has already spoken about it - DarkTransit.

Utilizing the Masternode network - DarkTor

One of the future goals is to turn the masternode network into a decentralized business for masternode operators. To do this we’ll add features that improve the privacy of end users and compete with centralized businesses. Our first endeavor into this is to make a completely private tor network within Darkcoin.

The Darkcoin network will begin to offer anonymous internet access via the masternode network. As a user, all you’ll have to do is pay a fee for 24 hours of access. This fee will be paid to a masternode in much the same way the masternode fees are paid, using a deterministic algorithm for determining which masternode will get paid.

There’s a few benefits to running a private tor network through Darkcoin.

Sybil resistant - Due to the cost of obtaining masternodes, it will be very difficult for any one person to view all traffic.
Anonymous Payments - Users can pay anonymously for the service
Private Network - Our tor network will be internal to darkcoin only. All traffic will be paid traffic, so the cost of running the service should be profitable for the masternode operators.
Faster than tor - Tor has historically been very slow. This will be a lean version, that has much higher throughput.

As for the cost of the service we’re thinking $0.50 per day or something to that effect.

We’re still working on the details how this will function and this isn’t a feature that we’re absolutely set on. We’re very interested to get the community’s response to see if it’s viable .

I think I just shit my pants.

Why rely one one VPN provider when you can use a network of a thousand of them? Smiley

Hey 101, figured out how to use the Bitfinex API.

You can do it either way around, naturally.

There may be a slight hiatus in development of DRK lolware as I craft and unleash my own bot army, then hang myself when the little blighters ruin me.
1830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | DarkSend+ Is Live! on: August 19, 2014, 01:11:47 PM
Jesus Christ I HATE wading through this thread.....

This world that has somehow sprung to life, where demands to 'open source' the product of a single persons life, do this, do that, change it this way etc......it challenges my own sense of self in a way that instantly stimulates the profanity center in my brain and brings on the insta-rage.  I would love to see Evan pull a Steve Jobs on all your asses (in his early years), and walk outside his garage and tell every single one of you crying bitches to go fuck yourselves and then make it known that if you don't leave, the shotgun in his hand will start explaining things in a way that makes it self evident.   Stop crying for changes to something for which you HAVE NEVER HAD ANY INTELLECTUAL, OR ACTUAL FOR THAT MATTER, CONTRIBUTION.  You CHOSE to put your foot in the stirup and swing the other leg up over the saddle and mount the horse.  Get the fuck off if you don't like the horse.

For those that have a tendency to misread posts, I'm not suggesting Evan is the next Steve Jobs.

Your having bought some 'coins' does NOT grant you the right to demand changes through a consistent dose of blabber and whining.  Buyer fucking beware.  The first amendment (for those that live in the U.S.) may give you that right and the existence of this forum makes it possible, but why remain so unhappy and discontent in the process of it's excercise?  What's the point?  You can't claim it actually makes you feel better.  A proper understanding of psychology will tell you that you WON'T feel better!

The potentiality of Evan making the coin open source, or doing anything else that's been screamed about, IS NOT YET AN ACTUALITY BECAUSE THE SOLE CREATOR (EVAN) HAS NOT DECIDED TO 'MAKE IT SO'.  All your whining and screaming will not change the relationship between the potentiality and the actuality.

NO ONE HERE has the the right to make claims upon the work Evan has done. NO ONE!...and by extension you don't have the 'right' to make demands of future decisions he will or will not make.  He is not resonsible for any of you.  Grant him the already possessed (and seemingly unrecognized) right to serve his own self interest...and if you think your self interest does not align....GET THE FUCK OUT.  Make the proper claim on yourself and recognize that you alone chose to buy some 'coin'.  Own the outcome in a singlular way.

He could just as easily say 'fuck it' and close the project and walk away leaving your asses looking like a wet cat that's just been pulled out of a muddy swimming pool and NOT SINGLE ONE OF YOU COULD DO SHIT ABOUT IT.  If I was Evan I would seriously consider it, just to seriously fuck all you whiners.  A mans creation is soley his and as a result is HIS to do with as he pleases.  Money is not the only currency and in Evan's case the creation of this coin is a kind of currency...and I would spend that currency to fuck the shit out some of you.  Seeing you cry and die would be my payment.

FFS...either ride the horse and shut the fuckup...or dismount and find another horse.  Excercise the one faculty that differentiates you from all other living things on this planet...CHOICE.

That was remarkably restrained...  Wink

Whinging Wallaby: ignored.

The network hashrate is still at 100 Gh/s even though DRK is one of the most unprofitable coins to instamine...

That there speaks volumes...

Curious phrasing...  Tongue

My Darkcoin/DarkSend wallet tutorial is up.  I hope it helps anyone who is apprehensive about using DarkSend because they're not sure how it works or how to do it "right".  It should answer all your questions.  I did do it as if for an old lady like myself, but hope everyone can get something out of it Cheesy

Excellent stuff, should be in the OP.

Im just saying I felt MN's always felt centralised, not to mention being possible targets for attack (Govt or otherwise)

At these prices anyone with those concerns should secure at least one masternode for himself. Because I think I remember Evan (the main developer) mentioning that in the future you could select a preferred/trusted node that would always be one of the nodes through which the anonymization is carried out. So if you can't trust yourself, then dunno - don't use your computer to handle any of your financial activities I guess.

You can select your own MN now I think, although I've forgotten the switch.

edit: from the 10.12.8 release notes-

Testing commands, you can start multiple wallets up and all denominate
on the same masternode for testing purposes:
/darkcoin-qt -datadir=/home/user/.darkcoin -listen=0 -darksendrounds=8 -usemasternode="192.168.56.102:19999"
/darkcoin-qt -datadir=/home/user/.darkcoin2 -listen=0 -darksendrounds=8 -usemasternode="192.168.56.102:19999"

It's a background image and a few widgets, you can brand it however you like in seconds. How many seconds depends on whether you have the artwork handy.  Wink

Anyone have a full list of DS+ related daemon calls (if any exist yet) and launch switches?

do the widgets contain the 'drk' references?

e.g. could one change drk for 'xyz' and effectively create a private white label reward mechanism that is powered by DRK behind the scenes?

You can change anything you like, it's just an empty form that you put whatever you want on, some of which (eg. the 'send' button, which you can call 'Herbert' if you want) does stuff.

Hah, just spotted 'anonymised_balance' under getinfo, I can pull it out of there...  Smiley

cheers, Sir Crouton

a few more questions...

* IPR?
* GitHub?
* ease of adding fiat exchange conversions to give indication of value?

I'll release it under some do-what-you-like licence if I release it, and stick it on github then.

Adding exchange rates would probably take about 15 minutes, hadn't occurred to me to do so, I wanted to keep the wallet as simple as functionally possible, it was a lunchtime project as a few people have agreed with me that a dirt simple wallet might be useful. Might stick exchange rates in tomorrow.

Oh in the name of all that's DRK people, stop quoting ignitiondefect, he's shojak's equally obtuse older brother, he just manages his meds better. You might as well argue with a bottle of adderall..

edit: to answer your question, yes you could call it 'Ballerina's Buttocks Coin' in the wallet and the user would never know they were actually using DRK.

Any ideas how to make my Simple Wallet any simpler? DS+ will be set to 2 rounds, nothing on screen that Jo Public doesn't need to know or really cares about anyway.

(All hard work full credit to Minotaur, raze, the rest of the talented guys in this thread: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/branding-discussion.616/page-6. I just knock shit up in PyQT.)

edit: haha I misspellified 'Address', will fix it.
It is perfect NotAloneSalad Wink

will the address list button open a list so you can chose which coin addresses to use?

Yes, it just populates the list from a txt file, which gets added to as you go along. Need to add names/labels maybe corresponding to addresses.

edit: 'send to' address that is.

can one white label much of this?
