Only way is with bitcoin fork to imlement masternodes. gl!

Let's focus on decentralized BTC/DRK exchanges that are mutually beneficial to both coins.

Actually, side chains have the potential to provide a workable solution.  The trouble is its about 2 years away. That in crypto is a lifetime.

edit

that's without any bugs or extended testing.

Perhaps but side chains have security and centralization issues as discussed by Peter Todd.

DRK <> BTC Exchanges

You don't actually need an exchange as such....you just need an exchange mechanism that collects inputs of DRK or BTC and matches the two at an acceptable strike point.

Bob wants to sell 1 BTC

Jane wants to sell 1 DRK ( Grin)

Both Bob and Jane send their coins to a holding address, effectively an escrow, and when there are two equally matched transactions, they are executed.

Probably not that far removed from what Master Nodes do now with their 8 rounds.

DRK Master Nodes as decentralised BTC exchanges....make it so.......

I was here pretty early and grimaced when I frst heard about the concept (and name) of master nodes.

I still hold a couple hundred DRK …

Im just saying I felt MN's always felt centralised, not to mention being possible targets for attack (Govt or otherwise)

Also: After the initial furore over the first 24hrs of mining which led devs and early miners to essentially earn something of a pre-mine, how is it total 21m DRK was then reduced to ~30% of that and accepted by the community?

Greed I guess.

Good Luck Evan - you're still a hero to me.

And once you have your DRK, where are you going to spend it? There is no DRK ecosystem to speak of.

We don't have to aim for mass adoption first. There are no retailers yet to speak of because the source is closed, so any merchant that values privacy won't run it - this will all change when it's opened, and we can start pushing the coin to dealers retailers.

If you truly wanted to be anonymous, wouldn't you want to be lost in the crowd along with regular consumers as opposed to being potentially linked to a currency inadvertently branded as the go-to solution for drug dealers, paedophiles, and tax-dodgers? In front of a jury, what's more incriminating: evidence that you had a BTC wallet on your computer like everybody else including your aunt Bertha...or that you had a sinisterly-named DarkCoin Wallet on there?

There will be plenty of "regular" uses and merchants to spend drk on I hope.

I'll concede to your point about the emergence of decentralized unregulated exchanges. At the same time however, decentralized anonymous BTC mixers can't be far behind.

Regarding your previous concern, deliberately using BTC mixers will look even more damning than using a coin that is natively "cash" - untraceable.

P.S. Don't listen to shojayxt, he's a troll and a spammer who spams his conspiracy theories and paranoid delusions to the point of everyone having ignored him, so he thinks his views are not being appreciated.

At these prices anyone with those concerns should secure at least one masternode for himself. Because I think I remember Evan (the main developer) mentioning that in the future you could select a preferred/trusted node that would always be one of the nodes through which the anonymization is carried out. So if you can't trust yourself, then dunno - don't use your computer to handle any of your financial activities I guess.

It's a background image and a few widgets, you can brand it however you like in seconds. How many seconds depends on whether you have the artwork handy.  Wink

Anyone have a full list of DS+ related daemon calls (if any exist yet) and launch switches?

do the widgets contain the 'drk' references?

e.g. could one change drk for 'xyz' and effectively create a private white label reward mechanism that is powered by DRK behind the scenes?

You can change anything you like, it's just an empty form that you put whatever you want on, some of which (eg. the 'send' button, which you can call 'Herbert' if you want) does stuff.

Hah, just spotted 'anonymised_balance' under getinfo, I can pull it out of there...  Smiley

cheers, Sir Crouton

a few more questions...

* IPR?
* GitHub?
* ease of adding fiat exchange conversions to give indication of value?

I'll release it under some do-what-you-like licence if I release it, and stick it on github then.

Adding exchange rates would probably take about 15 minutes, hadn't occurred to me to do so, I wanted to keep the wallet as simple as functionally possible, it was a lunchtime project as a few people have agreed with me that a dirt simple wallet might be useful. Might stick exchange rates in tomorrow.

Oh in the name of all that's DRK people, stop quoting ignitiondefect, he's shojak's equally obtuse older brother, he just manages his meds better. You might as well argue with a bottle of adderall..

Services that de-anonymize bitcoin transactions are going mainstream:

http://techcrunch.com/2014/08/18/blocktrail-secures-cash-for-its-bitcoin-transactions-analysis-platform

...the idea is to look at the movement of bitcoin, such as assessing whether some bitcoin addresses have been involved in mining or perhaps gambling.

Great news for DRK!

You can select your own MN now I think, although I've forgotten the switch.

edit: from the 10.12.8 release notes-

Testing commands, you can start multiple wallets up and all denominate
on the same masternode for testing purposes:
/darkcoin-qt -datadir=/home/user/.darkcoin -listen=0 -darksendrounds=8 -usemasternode="192.168.56.102:19999"
/darkcoin-qt -datadir=/home/user/.darkcoin2 -listen=0 -darksendrounds=8 -usemasternode="192.168.56.102:19999"

My Darkcoin/DarkSend wallet tutorial is up.  I hope it helps anyone who is apprehensive about using DarkSend because they're not sure how it works or how to do it "right".  It should answer all your questions.  I did do it as if for an old lady like myself, but hope everyone can get something out of it Cheesy
