1821  Economy / Economics / Re: Use your money wisely. Invest or Deposit ? on: December 09, 2022, 01:51:19 PM
Now you have $100,000 in your account, pure savings, and you don't need this amount of money to cover your daily expenses. Obviously it's good/free money to use at will. Let's say if you deposit the money into a bank and the annual interst rate is 3%, you will get a steady interest income year by year. If you use this money to buy Bitcoin, let's say the BTC drops to $17,000, you'll buy less than 6 Bitcoins. In the long run, what would you do with this money ? And why ?

Do people still let their money stay idle like in those days? That’s like putting money on bad will because at the end of the year, it will depreciate in value as you will end up battling inflation, banks are also the worst place anyone would want to save money in this century, I would rather see it invested in a physical business than those small interests rate that cannot beat inflation.

If I have that kind of amount of money, I would buy bitcoin but I will be smart with the buying process, split them in batches and continue to buy bitcoin as the price tank especially with the uncertainty and fear that is right now in the market, if we bottom at $10k, it will be insane profit by next bull run.

1823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Destroy Crap Altcoins? on: December 07, 2022, 12:05:05 PM
As a government, it will also make the encryption market more orderly through various regulations. There is no doubt that Bitcoin has had a huge impact on the global economic order.
The early dividend period of Bitcoin is over, and the next is the stable period. What are your views on the future? I clearly know that the persistence of beliefs is often not so strong, and few people can hold Bitcoin for a long time.

You should back up your arguments with facts. Bitcoin has always been for the people, and I can show you 5 links if you wish that show how bitcoin has protected many people from government repression. If bitcoin can restore lost freedom for people, what else can it not do? I didn't even mention inflation in previous years. If you had held a dollar worth $100 since 2020, the value of the fiat should have decreased, but despite the bitcoin fall, you would still be able to purchase anything worthwhile with that $100 worth of bitcoin, provided you acquired it in that year.

The growth of bitcoin is still far from over, and while I acknowledge that some corrupt centralised organization greed has hindered bitcoin development, it is also a good thing that they are exposed because it will improve the system's hygiene and transparency, which has been the foundation of satoshi and so shall it continue to remain.
1824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigerian government set to tax bitcoin and crypto transactions on: December 07, 2022, 11:22:28 AM
This is old news and for your information, Bitcoin is not banned, financial institutions were only banned from engaging in the activities of bitcoin, and the government prohibits them from going in and out of bitcoin because of the underlying corruptions within their own system. The CBN was tipped that commercial banks and some of their staff were using people's money to buy bitcoin and we all know that is against the etiquette of CBN policy for commercial banks to use customers' money for their own benefits and what is not approved by them. Bitcoin is not banned in Nigeria, please do more research on the adoption of bitcoin in Nigeria.
1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin no longer be Bitcoin if it were adopted by everyone in the world ? on: December 07, 2022, 10:42:13 AM
Assume one day, Bitcoin would be the only survivor as cryptocurrency in the world and each individual, company, organization and goverment would abandon all fiats/currencies and take Bitcoin as the only payment. When all obstacles were gone, Bitcoin would actually become a combination of both fiat and investment asset. However, as demand and supply were not to fluctuate much, the price of Bitcoin would be really stable and the value of investment would deteriorate. The two factors/purposes (fiat vs investment asset) will be contradicting each other all the time. If that happened, what's the point of making Bitcoin worldwide acceptable while losing its value and nature of Bitcoin ?  Metaphorically speaking, the hunting dog may be killed when all prey animals are gone.

What is your opinion ? Please let me know. Thanks.

Satisfaction is not static for everyone, it changes based on how people see it, it might be 50:50 today and 70:30 tomorrow. Governments have forced down and adopted Fiat to the people, but just because they are using it does not mean everyone actually likes it, similarly, not everyone will accept bitcoin adoption, it may go against some opinions, but that is the truth and that is how the world works, not everyone fantasizes bitcoin, not everyone like fiat either.

Fiat has historically been the preferred form of payment that countries have accepted, I assumed if bitcoin would one day get to that level, it will be more of been used as a reserve than been used as means of payment and hence the nature remains the same, nothing will change like that. EL Salvador comes to my mind, despite the force and airdrops to bring people closer to bitcoin, many are still shifting away from bitcoin as a legal entity and the crash hasn't been helping their bags as well.
1826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 07, 2022, 08:51:17 AM
Yes, a very unexpected result of the Spain-Morocco match, I watched the match and got the impression that Spain simply did not understand how to build a game against the Marocans, but I really enjoyed the Portugal game, I hope they will play just as well against Morocco.

Portugal has a lot of skill and it was a pleasure to watch all those goals.

I think it will be an easy game against Morocco, but then again Spain should have been able to win without issues, yet they ended up losing.

Portugal will probably go all out and try to score early in the game to manage a comfortable winning.

Ronaldo wasn't seen too much in the game, so hopefully we'll see more of him in the next one.

Portugal is home to many talented and skilled European players. Switzerland, on the other hand, is also good, but the matchmaking isn't evenly distributed. Switzerland was only fortunate to advance past the group stage, their goal at end of every match throughout was always to score one goal against opponents. Even Serbia was prepared for them, but some of their errors cost them a goal that they weren't supposed to concede.

Morocco will not only be going for the quarterfinals, but for the first time in years, they used counter-attacking in most of Spain's chances with aggressive defence, but I don't think they can use that strategy against Portugal with the way I've seen them finish other teams, Morocco will most likely be going home after their next match.
1827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much initial startup to Start Cryptocurrency Casino? on: December 07, 2022, 07:47:34 AM
Hi guys I wanted to ask some of big family members who have experience in crypto and also in gambling. But my experience is not good in gambling.
If someone wants to start a Gambling casino online with Cryptocurrency than how much money is needed. I think that 100k dollars initial capital would be enough to satrt a better casino. Cause we have to promote and also do other such promotions.
So what are your thoughts?

Although $100,000 may appear to be a large sum, there are other factors to consider. My first question is if you are the founder. Do you have developers that will create the software and websites for you? These are quite important for your casino, if you don't have any, you will spend more than that, believe me, because you'll pay them to create them for you, and you may even conduct a bounty test after the design to check for loopholes and beta testers. You can't expect a casino gambling with money to run smoothly at the start, you'll have to conduct a lot of cross examination.

You mentioned promotions, which are another way to entice customers and players to your casino, but using that budget wouldn't be sufficient because, for example, if you promised a player a 200% or 300% deposit and they all made deposits totalling $300k, how do you intend to raise the remaining funds? Remember that it is not all the players will lose if indeed your casino is fair, you would go bankrupt and might even be forced to close down. I advise you to secure more funds before launching your gaming business.
1828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: December 05, 2022, 10:12:45 PM
Liverpool are currently 6th in the table with 22 points compared to Arsenal who are on top with 37 points. I have to say that the point margin is quite large, but they still do have a chance to decrease the gap and move on top. I think it is going to be really challenging for them to win the league but they can surely make the top 4 because Manchester United has to be one of the most inconsistent teams in the EPL and their coach has to find the best combination of teams to compete in this competitive league.

They are inconsistent, but so far they are doing better than Liverpool in my opinion and would likely do more. Eric Ten has been more under pressure from Ronaldo and others, but now that they have both cut ties, he can use his boys however he sees fit, and no one will question his judgment. The likelihood of Liverpool switching them from that position would be tough and hard work because I don't think their squad is complete to finish the task and Manchester United will also push further to overcome others that preceded them.

Quote
Moreover, they just released Ronaldo from the squad and now they are lacking a lethal striker. Although Liverpool now have 24 matches to go, they really need to play consistent football in order to finish the league in the top four and I don't think they will be able to win the league this time.

They have always lacked good stickers and even with Ronaldo's absence, the structure remains the same but I look forward to the January transfer window to see their new deal, Manchester United is cooking some new players and from what I learnt, they are young and energetic for the team.
1829  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: December 05, 2022, 09:45:04 PM
For the La Liga title our strongly believed Barcelona can get it, if we look at the statistics they are quite capable, but indeed after the world cup is over, is a possibility that the performance of Barcelona squad will decrease. One of the reasons is fatigue, but it doesn't take long for squad will adapt. I personally believe Barcelona will get the title, what will happen if they don't get the title of La Liga?
It would be too hasty to say Barcelona will be La Liga champions now. Because they are still not in a comfortable place to win the title. 2 points is a very small distance, I don't even think of it as a gap with Real Madrid who are 2 points below them. They are just better than last season. Barcelona has the opportunity to become champions this season, but it requires a difficult struggle with hard work, of course.

Probably a happy Barcelona fan that is anticipating his team else, I see no reason why he feels Barcelona are having the trophy already, the gap isn't that much, just 2 margin which can change things as the league resumes and we are not even already into the half of the league, round 14 of 38 has been played pending 24 games. I would have agreed more if it were the gap between Barcelona and Real Sociedad, that's about 9 points we are talking about and since they are superior to one another but Real Madrid is in good form and not a good prediction if we are to make them as an example to give up so easily on this league.
1830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How was your first attempt to play gambling on: December 05, 2022, 09:22:34 PM
We all have a different experience how we started our first bet. Their are people who started bet without having any knowledge concerning it. Their are some people started with a help from a friend to bet and their are some who took their time to learn before they started paying bet.

How was your first start? Did you play blindly or spent some time to learn.?

I have been a sports guy but the idea of using money to bet has always scared me and the stories of how people lose money to gambling addictions always put me in my comfort zone not to trespass, not until the day Nigeria had a Match with Argentina in the 2018  world cup round 3 to e precise, Nigeria needed that match to be won to make it out of the group stage to the knockout stage just like we just concluded the that of last weeks but the then Messi in every Argentina match is always hot and they also needed that match to qualify to the round of 16, I chose that Messi will score and Argentina will qualify and that is how it happens,  he scored in the first 14 minutes. I was pained that we didn't qualify but I felt happy that I was right.
1831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 05, 2022, 09:04:22 PM
Brazil has shown nothing but good quality and master-class performance against South Korea. it's just the first half of the game and 4 goals have been scored by a balanced Brazilian team that is dominating so much in the game and their players doing excellently well
4 goals in the first half, I don't think Brazil is finished yet, I wonder how many more goals they will score in the second half. It will be humiliating if another goal is scored against South Korea, there is already a look of frustration on the faces of the Korean players, a comeback from them is very impossible with the way Brazil is. It is a settled game for Brazil, the coach may start considering to rest their major players for the Next game where there will be more reason to win for all the teams in that level. Brazil has not disappointed their many supporters and their Legend Pele.

I think Son will not only cry today the way he did when they lost to Ghana, today is a nightmare for South Korea as today marks the end of their journey in the world Cup, they played uniquely on their own with multiple chances but Brazil is just too good for them to overcome, maybe not today but we all know that Brazil team stand a chance to win this World Cup, even if they don't, they can at least make it to the Semi-Final where they would possibly face Argentina or Netherland. If the latter win their Quater-final, they will likely make it easier for Brazil to make it to the Final stage than when they face Argentina because it is going to be an eye for an eye battle.
1832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 04, 2022, 09:35:46 PM
The England team demonstrated their experience in playing big competitions such as the Champions League and other major leagues around the world, and they have the best chance of winning the game because they will try and convert any chances they have in the match, which they clearly did. Senigal failed to capitalize on their chances and are now trailing by two goals to nil, which will be extremely difficult to overcome in the second half of the game.

One of the giants of Africa's representatives, who we were all rooting for to live up to our dreams, was eliminated from the knockout rounds after England defeated them by a score of three goals to zero. Despite the disappointing result, Senegal made an effort because facing the England squad is difficult even with their higher Fifa ranking than Senegal (18th) while England is ranked (5), definitely, there is a difference.

I'm just imagining how exciting this game would have been if Mane had played. There are so many players I don't know well, and some, like their wingers, really didn't coordinate the attack as they should have. Since Senegal is out of the game, We'll have to wait and see how Morocco matches up against Spain, but I doubt they'll be able to knock Spain out of the knockout stage
1833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: under-age gamblers on: December 04, 2022, 08:58:08 PM
KYC is not a way to prevent under-age gamblers, lets be honest with each other because they are asking it from everyone whereas it could be like maybe 5% of all gamblers that are underage, probably less. So that is not the main way to prevent it, and they will just go to places that doesn't ask KYC and it's over.

KYC is a measure at least, it will reduce some numbers of them to some certain extent but the crooks ones who are techy would know the crook's ways to overcome the KYC barrier without casinos knowing the real person behind an account.

Quote
The real reason why under-age gambling is a problem is also the same as underage drinking, smoking, sex, and everything else. It is just not something you can prevent and that's the trouble. As long as you can't prevent none of that, you can't prevent gambling neither. Some people will do things before they are allowed to, and you won't be stopping that at all.

I beg to differ though, Sex, Alcohol consumption and smoking start from a stage and any serious parents see one of two of the symptoms of these addictions at an earlier stage, they just choose to ignore or don't do their part. There is Sex education for underage children, there are dangers of smoking for every parent to teach their children, there is also dangers of consumptions of alcohol to teach their children, the problem is that parent overlook these important things, if all these should have a remedy, then gambling can be set to the bearest minimum among underage children.
1834  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: under-age gamblers on: December 04, 2022, 06:03:43 PM
under-age gambling.any side effects?
Firstly gambling is a habit that becomes an addiction when not properly control and its really gonna eat you up likewise making you restless and not always focused on things you should do.

The  rate at which i see young minds and teens involved in the act of gambling in my area is really alarming and because of the poor regulatory bodies controlling the laws in my area they can't really do anything about this and its really affecting this young age.
Gambling has become a thing for everyone in my locality with out any age restrictions and am just curious If this is not going to cause side effects on this young gamblers.

Just the other day i was predicting  some games in the world cup in a betshop cause my network was bad so i can't stake online  so i decided to go to the betshop to place the bet, then to my shock i was boy aged around 14 to 15 years who came in and gave the cashier a booking code to place the bet and give him the coupon and the cashier collected and i was like isn't this too little to be involved in such acts.

And am just curious if this won't affect the person in times to come

Every time I see or hear of underage gambling, the adage that says "an idle mind is a devil's workshop" comes to mind. The underage children you see in such betting shops are sometimes the result of factors such as inadequate parental guidance, peer pressure within their group, the environment, and the gaming company and ads agencies. Let me explain in more detail:

1. Poor parental guidance: Parents are meant to be aware of their children's activities and to oversee what they do and where they go, but some parents, particularly those who work and have little or no time for their children, are very lenient in this regard.

2. Peer pressure: Some adolescents are carried away by the small amounts of money their peers make and are affected by it just to feel among, which is something parents should keep an eye on.

3. The environment we live in impacts us, and society determines the type of person we become without proper supervision, if the environment does not restrict gambling for children, it will surely be a major issue in society.

4. The way gambling firms and agencies advertise are too pushy. I understand that underage children are meant to have limits on internet exposure, but I don't think gambling advertisements should be on underage screens.

These are some of the few things that contribute to underage gambling, though with proper supervision, parents can minimise them.
1835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 04, 2022, 04:27:28 PM
Messi wants the world cup very much and is fighting for it. Messi has scored three goals and one assist already in the tournament. Football is a team game. For Argentina to win the cup, the whole team must have a good performance. Whole team can increase their standard then Argentina might have a chance. Messi can't do this alone.

Even after scoring in his 1000th game, when asked if he was going to celebrate, Messi declined, saying that they should be more concerned with the team moving forward because they were under a lot of pressure. The days to come will be relentless for Argentina because the opponents they will be facing are not ordinary as the quarter-final outcome is everything everyone is hoping for.

In the first half France won 1-0 over Poland. This became the capital for France to qualify for the last 8 thanks to a goal from Giroud. But Poland also carried out attacks that were dangerous for France. The second half will be even more exciting, because Poland will continue to carry out attacks in order to catch up with goals.

France dominated the match, but only by a little margin, both teams are working hard to create chances and use them. Nevertheless, it appears that France was able to maximize theirs before Poland and given the way the match is going, Poland may score 1 goal, but France will definitely win by two goals to one.
1836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 03, 2022, 08:49:12 PM
Despite the goal Argentina needs to put more pressure to get a second a goal in the 2nd half of the game in order to secure the game, hence what happened to them during the Saudis match might repeat again and in this stage right now, there's no next opportunity to correct the mistake because this is knock out stage
I think Messi is gonna fill up his lackency of the previous match in today's match. Currently, Australia is under pressure, and Argentina has already scored two goals. I think the last goal was due to the stupidity of the Australian goalkeeper.  I don't think Australia will be able to recover in today's match but it seems that Argentina's score will increase as time increases. If we look at the match stats, then it will be understood that the preliminary results of the match, match position, passes, pass accuracy are all in favor of Argentina. I think I'm going to win today's bet.

That was not the Goalkeepers fault, the defender causes that wrong illusion, Ryan already was ready to make move to catch the ball until the defender touches the ball and causes a diversion making the goalkeeper helpless and now the situation of the matches has changed as it seems right now that Australia are having more energy after having their first goal.

The match is almost coming to an end, Argentina are also protecting their defensive system while still trying to add additional goals, but even with the statistics I think goals matter to Australia than having all the qualities of stats because that’s the only thing that will further their movement out of knockout stage.
1837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 03, 2022, 07:57:13 PM
What a day to be alive and making history as Messi's marked 1000th match, and also scored his first goal in the knockout stage. That goal was quick with great assist from Otamendi, you just have to love Messi's speed in getting in between players, they fear him whenever he has the ball and approaches him with fear. The game isn't over yet, but I'm guessing we already know who will be awarded man of the match.

If Argentina eliminates Australia from the knockout stage, Argentina will have to face the Netherlands, who have yet to lose any match.

I heard that Binance will give funds of about 2 billion to buy FTX assets, if this is true, of course it will make the market can rise again, FTX error hopefully does not happen again, they use consumer money for wasteful things like luxury villas for FTX employees.

Prior to this, Binance had planned to acquire FTX between November 10 and 11, but they had to abandon the plan after reviewing their balance sheet since the mess was too big for Binance to handle. But now that I think more about it, do you really believe Binance would want to acquire FTX given that it is a rival in the market? They may have done it on purpose to let them down and gain public attention. If a single tweet could bring down an entire company, it's even possible that they had an insider who informed Binance group of the company's insolvency.

The $2 billion set aside by Binance will be used to assist the projects affected by FTX's exit and the liquidity drain from them while they were trying to hold onto the price of FTX before it crashed, rather than bailing out FTX as originally intended.

I do not usually listen to some news pertaining company lay offs, but those numbers are not a joke even though I had read previously that back in 2014, Microsoft even laid off 18k employees. I guess it was part of cutting losses anyways. If Twitter saved $500M for that then I wonder how much worth more was lost back when Musk has not yet bought Twitter.

From how Twitter is starting to change now starting from the blue tick plan, I wonder if people would still continue to use it since I recall trends in my news feed that people are now quitting Twitter due to the recent events.

The company layoffs are bad if you consider how many current employees would lose their jobs and have to find other ways to look for work, but I think they were just fired that way. They were paid in 2 months' worth of instalments, which alone demonstrates how fortunate they were to work for Twitter. If nothing was paid, he owns his company, and don't think there were conditions attached to the transfer of the company to the new manager.

The $500 million for workers is just too much for a new firm that has debts and liabilities to clear. Additionally, some of the employees were performing remote work that might have been done within the company, there is more to all the sack talk than people are discussing.

The majority of new investors come on board true centralized exchange and because they are new to the system, it is always very hard to convince them that CEX is not the best place to keep their assets, some of them don't really trade that much, they buy whatever they want to buy and keep it there instead of sending it to their own personal wallets, maybe they are too lazy to watch over their own investments their self. I'm not sure why would anyone will buy bitcoin and keep it on an exchange, for what exactly!

Sometimes its hard to convince newbies to avoid such things because majority of newbies has been introduce on new tokens which they bought on pre-sale and there's nothing they can do with it since mostly those tokens is listed on low tier exchange which is very risky to trade on. Also some of them got hype and stay because they think about good thing to do trades because they see a lot of option to choose if they want to trade that's why its good to see some fair warning like this since soon they realized for their selves that its not good to put 100% on a platform where you didn't hold your own keys.

A lazy newbie will continue to be a lazy one, and in the world of cryptocurrency, being a lethargic person usually means losing money. Since it's so challenging for new pre-sale projects to get listed in an A-tier exchange, they usually settle for the least expensive options, that been said. However, I believe that most of the layer 1 blockchains on which these projects were built have decentralized exchanges where users can buy and sell coins without having to leave them on centralized exchanges.

I can't speak for everyone, but I can say that despite the newbie excuses, some of them have learned to keep their coins in personal wallets as a result of what we have all experienced with CEX. I can also say that despite all the hacks and incidents, there are some people who have been in this space for more than half a decade that have yet to learn to be their own custody, they would rather watch their investments on CEX on high risk.
