1821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Companies are Rushing into Bitcoin on: July 12, 2014, 05:26:50 AM
I've been using portions of my mined BTC to buy in on silver and gold from amagimetals actually so i'm not all to surprised gold companies are doing the same with BTC they go hand in hand.
1822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It Takes 14 Million Android Phones to Earn One Bitcoin on: July 12, 2014, 05:23:25 AM
Maybe the big phone manufacturers could start putting ASIC chips in the phones they sell and profit that way. Just one chip per phone, and it would be a small chip so the phone doesn't get too hot. It would stay dormant in normal use and would only be activated during times when the phone is fully charged but still connected to a charger. That way, the customer doesn't notice.
This is actually bloody genius.
I disagree: "smart" TVs are where it is at.
  • They are already built to betray the user (implementing an alphabet soup of DRM including DTCP and HDMI).
  • They are already known as power hogs even in standby mode (so that they can download programming guides an respond to voice commands)
  • They already have internet access (required to get Blu-ray playback working again after your device is revoked, also services like netflix): likely cheaper than mobile Internet.
  • Because these things are always plugged in and active, you can even use an off-the-shelf chip drawing 3-5W.

This is a pretty cool idea but if they get caught doing it well I smell a lawsuit lol. This is quite a interesting fact about that I still remember way back in the day mining a few LTC off my old android phone.

1826  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where should i invest my bitcoins ? Wanna daily income on: July 11, 2014, 10:18:33 PM
You could always go gamble it on a dicegame with 90-98% chance of winning. If you have a larger sum of money could always do one of those trading algorithms on cryptotrader.org if you do sign up there would you be so kind to use my referral link https://cryptotrader.org/?r=246 I've been using them for 6 months now and some have been really good other algorithms not so much.

I also invest in various stocks that pay dividends on https://cryptostocks.com/
1827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RVC] / RevoCoin / POS - POW / 10,000kh miner limit / launch 14-07 on: July 11, 2014, 07:01:17 PM
anything new?
Clone MIN and change Algo to  X15
and Sell coin
It is new![/b][/size]

Actually we were planning this kind of distribution since may. One of our team members discussed it with raxe.io back then and a few weeks later MIN was born. But it doesnt matter, we have better things in the pipeline.

Regarding closed source distribution (already received a couple of messages with questions): this is the only possiblity. We will send the source code to the pool owners + exchange and it may be checked by a community member with a good reputation. This will only affect big miners negatively Smiley

interesting.

Did you talk to any pool.mn personnel? clearly they own MIN and bunch of other silly coins.

also you mention one of our team members. who are you all?

Walhalla spoke to a guy working for raxe.io and he thinks they stole his distribution idea.

Current team members can be found in the OP. We are expanding our team at the moment.

good idea, but IPO kills the future of this coin

IPO, premine, instamine or temporary price manipulation; we opted for ipo. This will not kill the coin.
it is only pump and dump

I handled an IPO for cscoin and it worked out very well actually and gave the coin a minimum value right from the beginning. From my experiences so far they prove beneficial to altcoins.
1828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSO] CSCoin | X11 | PoW + PoS | Escrow IPO | CryptoCoin For Counter-Strike on: July 11, 2014, 05:16:02 PM
There is still a small handful of shareholders who have not claimed there IPO please contact me ASAP if you have invested in this coin.
1829  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 11, 2014, 12:11:05 PM

Just spotted this on an ebay auction.  Looks like the heatsink arrangement is different, unless they have added those on the chip to help venting heat with the cover on.

Edit : Just spotted the other heatsinks (as with S1) through the fan grill.

Can't wait to get my batch one order!

So I am currently in the works of a 1400 watt power supply with 6x 6pin pci-e cables which I can offer at a good rate wondering if anyone would have interest in them? I am getting the sample unit delivered sometime around the 16th. The price on them will be about $150~ish If i'm able to get enough crowd funding for 2-500 units.
1830  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 11, 2014, 08:35:42 AM
Alternately, plug your S3, or switch, or anything with ethernet into one of these...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122373

I'm running 3 S-1's, a Dragon, 2 mining controllers, and a windows lap on a crappy 8 port switch with one of these.

I purchased one of these for 8 of them to run wireless http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TLIVBG/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 hopefully it works without issue I went with this one since I currently use a cisco e3000 (Wish I would have went with an asus) I don't see any reason why these wouldn't work a little on the pricey side however.

If there is anything I am missing to finish enrollment please let me know!

Read the OP on page one. We're now supposed to fill out a form, instead of posting like that.

Also, when filling out the form, fill out the application part, and then it takes you to the "Collect Payment" form. Leave textboxes there blank and submit.

I already filled out the enrollement form when I get forwarded to the collect payment just leave it all blank and submit an that's all?

1834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Talked someone into bitcoin only to bail because his bank saying its a scam on: July 10, 2014, 09:04:27 PM
wow reading some replies here and ...

You must be a moron to tell your friends to invest into something/anything.

Instead, you should only educate them about bitcoin while retaining from giving financial advice.

As for OP, stop pushing like a fcking saleman, You're making it looks like a pyramid scheme now.

I don't think your quite getting what my intentions were and it wasnt to act as a "fucking salesman". I let him know all the beneficial reasons that bitcoin is about, and if he was interested how to get started. As as as i'm concerned there was nothing I said that was even remotely close to what a pyramid scheme is. What my OP was about is how the general people including ones who work for banks view bitcoin.
1835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Talked someone into bitcoin only to bail because his bank saying its a scam on: July 10, 2014, 04:00:26 AM
Newegg accepting scam currency?  Roll Eyes
US government selling scam currency? Roll Eyes

.. and the list goes on!
+1

Last week I got a friend very interested in bitcoin and gave him a educated run down on what it is exactly. Today I called him to see if he was still interested in jumping on board to only find out his wife who works at a bank informed him that it is nothing more then a scam.

I was curious so I asked apparently the bank received a notice describing bitcoin as far as I am aware illegal and a scam etc. at least this is what I got from our brief conversation. I'm going to stop over there and talk to her a little bit more and see what it is she is able to disclose exactly.

Regardless slightly upset of the picture that the uneducated have painted not from the media just word of mouth.. He said he's going to research it himself but generally when wifey puts her foot down its yes dear.

Edit: The primary factor in it was money laundering and untraceable money.
tell him to tell his wife to tell her boss that its not a scam.

your friend should probably buy before everyone figures out its not a scam.

It wasn't just about buying and holding more or less he use to play online poker which is what got started. From there explained to him about the mining aspect, trading algorithms and yes your buy and hold. List goes on and on as you all know. I did eventually convince him to play some poker with BTC but as far as him taking it seriously I don't think he was anymore interested then the .2 BTC he got for free..
1836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Talked someone into bitcoin only to bail because his bank saying its a scam on: July 10, 2014, 02:39:06 AM
Sadly, what Maidak described in the OP is the same type of info that your everyday friend hears from news negativity.

I recently got a sister in law interested in bitcoin, but her husband killed all desire of getting me to help her obtain some because he said feds will come in your house to bust you if they find out. These are pretty wild statements, so I'm not even sure where someone gets these kind of ideas.

Perhaps it's a combination of rational fear mixed in with listening to Alex Jones?
Americans have way too much too fear after decades of Drug Warriors busting down people's doors.

Its really getting annoying in my honest opinion. I do my fair part to try an get everyone including the locl brick an mortar shops interested in accepting it as a payment form. Even offer free advice and guidance on how to accept it and how the processing fees are virtually nothing. Only to be shot down a few days later from the already negative info that went wide spread and is one of the first things they find out when they do there own digging around.

edit: payments been received i'll be removing my negative trust and continue in this campaign.
