1821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does this still count? on: September 21, 2023, 03:23:38 PM

I get your point, but
1. AFAIK any OS disable bluetooth by default.

That's true most of the Operating System disable default Bluetooth by default but sometimes the users enable it and don't really care much about it because of the short range it has. Some people enable to it connect Bluetooth speakers and headphones and don't really care much about security when it comes to Bluetooth connection and that's can make things easier for hackers.

2. Bluetooth if OP already uninstall all network driver.
The same answer here as well like most people don't really care much about Bluetooth when it comes to security and they may not disable it only to connect some Bluetooth enabled devices.

I also how much antenna could help for going through thick wall or multiple walls.

They don't help that much but if someone has a extender that can cover huge lengths then such extender could in theory go through some of the thick walls as well. This depends on the resources of the hacker that attacks those Bluetooth enable devices but most of the times hackers attack other networks that have good range. In theory it's possible but in reality we haven't heard any such cases so far.
1822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Just HODL But HODL Wisely and Securely on: September 21, 2023, 03:13:12 PM
~Snip~

I strongly warn people to not use those one thousand ways to HODL their Bitcoin and I highly warn them from using the Bitcoin related applications that are available on those Google and Apple stores. We can't really trust those ways and those applications because many of those can have malware in them and some of those may be vulnerable to attacks from the hackers and in fact any way that allows other to interact with your system remotely could be a troublesome for the holders.

The best way to hold your Bitcoin is to use a trusted open-source wallet like Electrum on a open-source Linux based distro, and then protect the private keys and pass phrases by saving them on multiple secure store media options that aren't connected to internet and are in the possession of the holder. Once the coins are deposited into the wallet the holder should disconnect that system from internet and Hodl the Bitcoin for as long as he/she wants to hold.
1823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What was the idea the creation of Bitcoin? on: September 21, 2023, 03:03:11 PM
In simple words the Bitcoin was created to ease the way of transactions that banks and other centralized authorities make harder for us. Bitcoin was created as a global currency and anyone in the world could use it without any restrictions. It was a tiring work to convert fiat currency of one country to another country's fiat but Bitcoin made that thing easier for us because we can use same Bitcoin in any country we want and we don't even need to carry the burden of any extra fees. The Bitcoin is simply the best solution for most of our financial problems and that's why people recommend others to invest in it because the Bitcoin investors are free from the trap of inflation and they can have peace of mind even in times when inflation rises to very high levels.
1824  Other / Meta / Re: Cybersecurity Board - Hardware Wallets Save All Now - But How Long ? on: September 20, 2023, 09:31:14 PM
You are 100% right, but forum members can improve their cybersecurity knowledge from this new board. Even forum members with very limited experience in the field can learn from more educated member reply. Step by step the cybersecurity board will help a lot.

I think the cybersecurity board will be a nice addition to the current number of the boards, and in that board many users who have knowledge about cybersecurity can share their knowledge with others and which may help many users to get protected from the hackers. I have voted yes in favor of the poll that was created for such board and I will always be happy to see such board on this forum. I'm not an expert in that field by any means but I believe that I can also help others by sharing the knowledge that I have about cybersecurity. There are many security experts on the forum who could also contribute valuable information at such boards.
1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Analytics is More of an Art Than Science on: September 20, 2023, 09:18:14 PM
Or, they themselves could attack their own software if there's a benefit. They won't reveal you the manner which they discriminate coins, so why wouldn't they? It can go completely unnoticed.

Well, that's another possibility because they can sometimes attack their own software and may act as hackers to find the flaws that hackers could find with hacking tools. Sometimes they also might run bug bounty programs and pay hackers to find those bugs in their software.

This is so true. In fact, it's been noticed that many times developers who write closed-source software do follow the "security-through-obscurity" principle. People try obfuscation techniques believing that provides security, in stuff like web apps and steganography. Believing that closed-source is more secure than open-source, besides debunked, is a sign of utter arrogance; believing that no one can contribute to the security of your project as much as you've already done is excessive self-esteem. Windows is tangible evidence that this is bad practice.

Everything that includes cryptography should be developed transparently.

I agree with you and most of the closed-source software are packed with obfuscation techniques by keeping security in mind while sometimes they use those techniques to prevent open-source software developers from copying of the source-code. Those closed-source people aren't generous at all and they don't want open-source developers to view the code and make something similar and allow everyone to use it and contribute to it freely. Such software could contain many vulnerabilities and when a hacker finds those vulnerabilities then he/she may do anything with the systems of the users that are running those software on their systems. I strongly agree with you that the software which has cryptography should always be developed with complete transparency so that any developer could had improvements into it.
1826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does this still count? on: September 20, 2023, 08:53:43 PM

And will it be possible for an hacker to install those drivers remotely?

The hackers won't be able to install the drivers remotely if they aren't close to your device but if the device has Bluetooth connectivity and the hacker is in close distance from your device then in theory that person may be able to connect to your device and install those drivers remotely. However, you really don't have to be worried about that thing if your pc doesn't have any Bluetooth connectivity built into it.

It's not really practical attack though. Besides, typical bluetooth have either short range (10m or less) or very short range (1m or less). So it could be avoided if you don't invite someone you don't trust to your house.

It's still practical if the hackers use some Bluetooth extending antennas to extend the range of their Bluetooth connectivity to few handed meters and that's why in theory those kind of attacks can take place if the hacker is someone who knows those things. But, still these type of attacks have never took place, however it's always better to know about these  because sometimes when we underestimate little probability things then that can be a reason for us to be hacked. The Bluetooth technology is very vulnerable to attacks and hackers can easily hack it with right tools.
1827  Economy / Speculation / Re: Michael Saylor predicts Bitcoin can go to $5 million? on: September 20, 2023, 08:38:17 PM
I'm not sure about his prediction but surely Bitcoin can go to $5 million or even more than that, but still we don't know when because in upcoming 10 years it's not possible for Bitcoin to go anywhere close to $5 years and if it does then most of the holders will be millionaires and some maybe billionaires.

Bitcoin is the best asset in the whole world and it can grow to the unimaginable heights in future but sadly no one knows that how long it will take Bitcoin to cross $1 million price tag. Let's still be optimist about its price and hope for a better future for all those investors who are holding. Surely Bitcoin will be at $120k within 3 years but not sure when it will reach $5 million.
Well, not every holder will become a millionaire if Bitcoin hits $1m because they don't all hold 1 or more than 1 Bitcoins. The amount of Bitcoins in circulation is spread into the whole population that has some Bitcoins in their wallet and the percentage of people holding 1 or more than 1 Bitcoins is not really that high, I believe there must be some stats regarding this that we can find somewhere if we do some research but I'm pretty sure about what I'm saying.

I didn't said that every holder will become millionaire as that's something impossible but I said that most of the holders will be millionaires. If we check the current number of wallets that hold 1 Bitcoin then that number is more than 1 million wallets, and if future the number of wallets with 1 Bitcoin will be much higher than that. According to LookintoBitcoin, the current number of wallets holding 1 Bitcoin or more is around 1,020,375 as of Sep 19 2023 and the number will grow to more than 2 million wallets in a few years. I think if Bitcoin even reaches $1 million in value then all of those wallet holders will be millionaires. Yeah, I'm sure that there could be people with multiple wallets having 1 Bitcoin but still all of the wallets will be around $1 million in value if they hold 1 Bitcoin when the price reaches that value.

In my opinion, any formula for calculating this still doesn't make sense, logically we haven't even touched on $1 million, how could it be possible to get a price of $5 million so easily. But dreaming is indeed more beautiful than lamenting reality. LOL

The important thing we can do is to calculate a reasonable target and collect the bitcoins we can.

Yeah, if we speak logically then Bitcoin hasn't even touched $70k, but in predictions we avoid logic and see the things with analytics, and statistics. The Bitcoin has potential to grow much higher in value and we can't ignore that thing but for now it's not anywhere close to even $60k, but surely in future the scarcity principle will work with Bitcoin as well and the value will grow enormously. When the supply is low and the demand is high then the value will also rise, and that's something which is going to take place after each halving event. During each halving event the number of Bitcoin in a block reduces to half and that creates some scarcity and which works to increase the price of an asset. We should also keep that inflation that happens with fiat and that's why Bitcoin can grow much higher in value in future.
1828  Economy / Economics / Re: Use of clean energy in bitcoin mining and its impact on: September 20, 2023, 08:17:40 PM
This is so obvious to people who actually know the situation but that doesn't mean that we are going to end up with a result like that at all. We need to realize that bitcoin is still not known in detail by so many people, even the ones who has heard the name bitcoin, do not know much information regarding it, and when a news station talks about how much it uses, they believe them because they do not have the better judgement to research it themselves.

This is why the ones who know, like you and me, we know that it is tiny compared to most other stuff and mostly clean, whereas the ones who do not know would fall victim to fake news and misinformation because they do not care enough to go do their research on the subject.

That's why people say that media is the king because whatever media says people blindly trust that and even if they promote fake news people will trust that news. Most of the people these days don't really do their own research and they accept whatever they hear from those media sources, and the worst thing is that the same people promote the things they heard from those media channels to other people and promote such misinformation.

We Bitcoin users know that Bitcoin mining does require energy and we also know that most of the miners and mining farms are using clean energy for the purpose of Bitcoin mining but who listen to us? They listen to only media channels and believe trust words without question. Surely, the ones who do their own research are well aware of the fact that Bitcoin mining consumes not so much energy out of global electricity production, and it's actually consuming the energy from clean energy sources mostly.
1829  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetKing.io Token Refunds - $38k refunded since going live again on: September 20, 2023, 07:58:26 PM

$2 million is a huge amount to be refunding out of my own pocket but it's certainly more probable than refunding $6 million, that people commonly mistake the number to be.
If your intentions are right then I hope that the investors will receive those funds that they have lost during the ICO time. Well, I'm quite sure that you will find most of those investors who still want to get refunded and it would be great if you share with us with posts bumps each month about the number of users who get their money refunded.

Last thing. There is no desire for me to open BetKing at all. It is currently closed for deposits.

The only way I would re-open it is if, and only if, there was a chance that a good portion of old players would return and it had a high chance of being able to make profit that could speed up investor refunds. This is obviously unlikely.
If we did open and the site made enough to refund investors, I would close it the next day.
I have no interest in making money from BetKing personally.

I would also recommend you to close the deposits and don't open BetKing until the previous investors are fully refunded and if you sincerely do that then surely it'll be something new in the world of online gambling. I hope those investors who were affected will get their money back. The initiative sounds good to me now and if it really happens then I'm very sure that BetKing may get some people's trust once again.
1830  Other / Meta / Re: Fun thought on Bitcointalk having this particular feature. on: September 20, 2023, 07:49:27 PM
Hello friends

Well so I was thinking how would users feel if actually there was some kind of Voice translation writing mode here in the forum so as to aid those who are not too good at typing or expressing themselves very well through writing to actually speak out their thought and it gets written down correctly for them  Angry.

Although I know it's a crazy idea but still it's a free community so I decided to speak out to see how many people actually have similar thoughts on the idea although I have a feeling I would be criticise on this but it's worth throwing the question out there. Lol

Your idea is a nice one but I don't think that such feature in needed on Bitcointalk because we can use such features by installing simple extensions. One such extension is "Voice In" that's available on chrome web store and it help to write anything that you speak. If we have such speech to text dictation extensions already available then it isn't a good thing to increase load on the Bitcointalk webhost machine by adding such processor intensive features. The forum is working well in its simplistic design and even someone with a low-end system can use this forum without any trouble. I hope that extension will work for you and you will enjoy using it.
1831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is bitcoin have grant program ? on: September 20, 2023, 07:35:13 PM
Hello everyone

like most the blockchains do
Does Bitcoin have grant program?

I'm sure if they have it will brings so much traffic

Bitcoin is a decentralized currency and there is no single entity or organization that controls it but still there are many third party organizations that offer some grant programs to the developers who contribute their share to Bitcoin. Those third party organizations are supporters of the idea of Bitcoin and its open-source nature, and that's the reason why they offer such grant programs. The aren't having any affiliation with Bitcoin directedly but are the supporters of it's open-source nature and want to help all those developers or contributors who want to add something into it.

Kraken offers a grant program for the Bitcoin developers only because they are lovers of open-source projects and try their best to support such projects. The grants they offer aren't limited to Bitcoin only as they offer such grants for some other crypto-currencies as well. Another such grant program is offer by Okcoin and they have donated more than 1.5 Million USD in their grant program. There are some other such third parties that offer those grant programs to the developers and contributors of Bitcoin.
1832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did anyone notice this pattern? on: September 20, 2023, 07:15:37 PM

This might sound unreal but Bitcoin takes approximately 1.3 years to get to a new ATH. if we consider the halving dates and then check the new ATH, as an average it concludes. I am not speculating anything as it is a simple calculation of the average. just take a look:

Your approximation is correct when we see the past ATH's but we not yet aware about the coming ATH and it could take place after halving for sure but still we can't determine an exact date for that event. I'm sure that after the halving event Bitcoin's price will continue to gain some momentum and it will continue to grow to good levels within short duration, but still it's next ATH is expected around 2024's last quarter to 2025's last quarter.

Yes, we can't say that the ATH will happen in 2025's first quarter because that predication will most probably be inaccurate. But, surely it will happen within 2 years after halving and once we see next ATH then once again we may see another bear market. The simplest reason that why Bitcoin reaches its ATH is when new people learn about it and they invest in it and when media or influencers promote it. Those type of promotions will be common after the halving event and people will once again invest a lot of money in whole crypto market to gain profits.
1833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moment of truth on: September 20, 2023, 03:42:41 PM

3. what would be your advice to the newbie still trying to figure things out?

My simple advice to such newbie is to learn about Bitcoin as much as possible. The information about Bitcoin is available everywhere nowadays and someone who knows English can easily gain the concepts of Bitcoin without much hassle. I recommend such newbies to be active on this forum and read as many threads as possible and whenever he/she wants to know about something then he/she should not hesitate to create his/her own threads and ask about those things. Another advice to such newbie is to read some good books about Bitcoin and its history and also learn about personal wallets and their security before investing in Bitcoin.

4. Did you also have the "get rich quick" mindset. I bet it slowed down your learning process.

I didn't had that "get rich quick" mindset, but yes get rich mindset was always there and it will remain there forever. I think everyone want to have financial freedom and that's what I consider as get rich mindset, and such mindset won't be a burden for you in learning process. But if someone is having that "get rich quick" mindset then that person will never pay much attention to anything and would try his/her best to find ways to get rich as soon as possible. Those people will consider Bitcoin as a money tree and they really don't understand the real purpose of Bitcoin.
1834  Other / Meta / Re: Is the first Merit the hardest Merit to get? on: September 20, 2023, 03:30:55 PM
you should stop treating merits as if they are something exciting or worth pursuing after the first 100, and then enjoy creating posts without Merit attention.

You're right that once someone gains at least 100 merits he/she should stop thinking about merits a lot and continue to do their best to contribute helpful information on the forum. If someone creates good posts which are informative and could help others then that person will definitely get the deserving merits. But, the ones who are only here to accumulate merits and do not give much attention to the quality of their posts are the ones who don't get any merits.
1835  Economy / Gambling / Re: l0tt0.com on: September 19, 2023, 09:23:14 PM
Hello

So I have some new deisgn previews. v2.2 of the site will be live by the end of the week.. It will include the new look for all games and after it's live, and all the bugs worked out, I'll add the Affiliate tab to account page. Next week, the game Magic Dice will be added.

The v2.2 design is truly innovative and I must say that you have been doing great to improve the L0tt0 and surely the new game Magic Dice will be really entertaining. Those are some pretty good changes in the design and surely before it goes online we may see some more changes. I really appreciate your efforts that you put on the design and on the games that are available on L0tt0.com, and I'm quite sure that the players will enjoy playing those amazing games that L0tt0 offers. I'm pretty excited for the Magic Dice as that would be a really nice addition to the list of the currently available games.
1836  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan request urgent :( €2500 USDT repay €3500 in 3 months on: September 19, 2023, 08:57:18 PM
Sure.... I send you the money.

BTW: Don't bother about paying back & give you this help for free since you seen to be such an honest and good guy, I feel for you bro!

A really nice joke man! But, in actual no one is going to lend him a cent. First of all he's a newbie members and secondly he has no collateral for the loan. Such users always come up with similar stories in order to take advantage of the generosity of the lenders, but now we know their tactics and they won't get loans from this forum.
1837  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Notable apps that can accept BTC for premium subscription packages. on: September 19, 2023, 08:50:52 PM

Am curious to know, is there some notable app(s) created for whatever purposes which has a premium subscription payment plan for any of its package and accepts or allows crypto or BTC payments for the package?

Unfortunately for most of the application we can't avail the premium subscription with Bitcoin payments. The reason is that most of the applications are available on either Google PlayStore or Apple AppStore and both of those don't really accept Bitcoin payments. The only best way to avail the premium features of those applications with the help of BTC payments is to purchase Apple gift cards or Google Play gift cards with the help of Bitcoin payments. That's the best way to unlock those premium features with the help of Bitcoin payments.
1838  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: September 19, 2023, 08:35:17 PM

OK, I'll share it since so many of you ask for it (Edit in the OP):
I'll share the site since so much people is asking, but I guess this is usual:
https://elroyalecasinobonuses.com/ with a referal who leads you to the domain you'll be logged

In FAQ you find it clearly: https://elroyalecasinobonuses.com/faq/

That casino doesn't seems a very reputed one to me because they don't have their announcement thread on Bitcointalk and the casinos that doesn't have announcements threads on this forum are services that I can't trust. I don't think that going with a casino like that is a good step and we can't expect anything better from such casinos.

~Snip~
Yeah, pretty fair: give me 2K with no questions, but you won't be able to get a penny without fulfilling the rules. I'ts a regulatory joke. Even is a gambler trap: " I'll try to make it a big ammount so it's worth it to do the paperwork, then you loose. Unacceptable
Well, it's always mandatory to complete the KYC verification on most of the casinos as they need those documents due to license restrictions. The well known casinos have higher limits while the less known ones could have limits like 2k or even less than that. Unfortunately, that KYC is something we can't ignore in the world of online gambling because most of the famous casinos require that information and we have to provide that information if we want to utilize their services.
1839  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for new factoids? on: September 19, 2023, 08:12:39 PM
Well yes, of course you can disable it entirely on specific sites if you like - you literally just click on the big power button icon in the extension on the site you want to disable it on. But uBlock Origin is far more than just an ad blocker, and there are many other things you can use it for which maybe you don't want to disable. For example, someone asked fairly recently about a way to hide the ignore button which they kept clicking on by mistake: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5461934.msg62641090#msg62641090

Well, then it's way better to use the filter code that you provided in the post because sometimes we can utilize the uBlock in a better way like blocking certain elements that we don't want on a site or specifically on this forum. The ignore button hiding filter that you shared in that thread is awesome and helpful for many users. I truly appreciate your reply and the filters that you have provided! I must say that I learnt something valuable today!
1840  Other / Meta / Re: Just for curiosity, I wanna know about those things.(Local board>child Board ) on: September 19, 2023, 08:03:07 PM
Actually, I wanna know, is there any requirement to get child boards for the local board? Or give as soon as you apply? And if you have to apply, to whom should you apply? Can moderators do this? Or the admin himself? What is the process?

I think one should create a thread on Meta to ask for those child boards if they are needed in a local board. But I think that in order to get new child boards the majority of the members of that particular local board should agree upon the decision to have a new child board. Once its properly analyzed by staff and admin that yes a child board could be a good step for a local board then the admin will create that child board. I'm not very sure but I think moderators may not be able to create the child boards themselves and only admin could create those boards.
