Ignore user confirmation before ignoring

This is common to me, I will just see an user that I did not ignore but ignored. I do not know why this is like that. Not frequent but I do see it very well.

Is any other user noticing this?

This is because no message to check a box or something like that after pressing on ignore which can be a mistake. Is there a place that I can go to to set this on my profile? I mean confirmation before ignoring an user.

If there is no way to set it, I hope theymos will include that one day.

I have experienced it before. But most times it happens to me when I’m accessing the forum through mobile phone since you can just click on some url you never intended to click on.

I don’t know if a settings exist to enable you confirm if you truly want to ignore an user or not and if one does not exist I strongly doubt theymos is going to implement something like this, so you just have to be extra careful when scrolling through a thread or preferably do a quick scan through the thread to see if you made any mistakes.

The only option I could see in settings is a place to check out all the names included on your ignore list. I can't find anything relating to "confirm" before approval, unless the setting appears differently on another's profile, but I doubt that.
 
I only experience adding people to my ignore list by mistake when I am using my mobile gadget, and most times I mistakenly click on the ignore button without my knowledge, which is why most times it's when I want to try and check through the users trust page.

Did you use your account on mobile regularly? It's more possible to mistakenly Ignore a user if you are on mobile than on laptop or computer.

The confirmation message for Ignore a user is not too necessary. It is very simple to click on UnIgnore and it is done. Because you know about users you don't want to Ignore, you can UnIgnore them manually and easily.

You can not Ignore a user by clicking on URL links. You only can do it with your Ignore list by adding that username into your Ignore list or by clicking on Ignore. The former is no way to be done by mistake and you don't know about it. The latter can come from mistake when you are on mobile. If you want to click on the username to go to its profile and mistouch on Ignore.

The only option I could see in settings is a place to check out all the names included on your ignore list.

It will never be edited by mistake like with one touch.

I don't think it's important, when you mistakenly ignore someone account, you just need to click it back.

It's more important if the logout has a popped out message because when you mistakenly logout your account, you need to type your username, password, how long you want to logged and captcha.

Here's a very quick fix I just tested if you use uBlock Origin (and if you aren't you really should):

Open your uBlock Origin add on and open the dashboard by clicking on the three cogwheel icon.
Click on "My Filters".
Paste the following:

Save your changes, and then refresh bitcointalk. This will hide the Ignore button. This will also work on mobile. It may work with other ad blockers which also implement similar functions to allow you to block specific elements.

If you are browsing the forum from the phone, you will inevitably encounter this problem. It is difficult to write posts using the phone, and all things are inconvenient, so it would not be strange if you pressed the ignore button by mistake and there is no warning message after clicking the ignore button.

I've managed to do that by mistake on a tablet when doing the lazy scroll, one bad timing and it's a tap instead of hold and release, and if you're not really careful the guy gets ignored and you won't realize, especially if you have a long ignore list. I don't have anyone on ignore so in my case I instantly know I made a mistake when I see an ignored user but users with a long list might not realize for a long time.

In fact I experienced the same thing in my early year in the forum, almost 3 users in the Nigeria local board were in my ignore list and I didn't do such a thing, at that time I didn't even know what was ignore list was all about, I didn't even know how ignore someone. I wanted to create a thread as you did but I delete the users and forgot about it. And after twice of such appearance it stopped. So for now I am not seeing it again. But later I came to understand the ignore list and I am using it effectively right now.

These are already known options to the OP and have already been suggested by other users above.
I think the best option will be what o_e_l_e_o has suggested, tryings to figure that out with my mobile device as am far from home to access my PC.

Probably you click the ignore button accidentally when scrolling or when you are supposed to view someone's profie because they are close to each other while the browser only do a quick refresh whenever you ignore someone which is unnoticeable especially if you focus on browsing. I do this frequently and I'm just surprised that sometimes some thread is grayed despite I don't ignore someone here.

I really like this, I think you are describing like the trust list which user can add and remove user on the list manually and to monitor whose on your list.

This is very common when you are using a smartphone since the phone are too little to handle and you wouldn't know when your finger might have mistakenly tap on it and it instantly on ignore without your approval but if you see a think like that, you don't need to worry just un-ignore that person back. I don't think is something you must go to your profile to set. I think on messaging aspect, you can set some certain users whom you don't want them to send you pm without your approval or releasing them from your settings.

I agree with you the ones who doesn't have anyone in their ignore list can easily know that they have wrongly ignored a user, but for those who have a huge list of users in their ignore list then it would be a really time consuming task to know that they have ignored someone unintentionally.

I also have 0 members in my ignore list because I believe that ignoring users isn't a good practice and it would really make us more ignorant to ignore those whose opinions we don't like. If we can't ignore such humans in real like then we should not ignore them on forum also.

I don't think the action can be performed without being given instructions to do so.... Maybe on one occasion of accessing the forum with a cellphone, you've inadvertently clicked on the ignore button -i sometimes realize the same thing during my endless scroll, through every single board.
IMO, If Leo has given a resolution to the situation, then that's shouldn't be a topic to keep 'em peeps repeating the same thing over and over again.. ofcourse yunno what that'll prevent.

I experienced something similar where I was going to send DM using the shortcut icon on their post and instead of the send message Icon the one that I tap is the ignore button that's what I think the reason why I have someone on my ignore list unintentionally and I just unignore the user. This experienced of mine happened when I am using my mobile phone and if you also use mobile phone most of the time then I think it's the same reason as mine or maybe not at all. It would be great of there's a box for the ignore forum users to check it much easier.

I made such mistake on my phone but later I realized it and corrected it. Because I did not click on URL profile of a user I am not familiar with and users I clicked on usually are prominent posters. I easily realized them later and if I saw they were ignored by me, I will Unignore them.

Mistakes on phones will not be enough to result in a very long list of Ignored users because I think the probability for mistake is 1% or lower.

Yes you are correct @o_e_l_e_o yesterday when i browsing mobile version so feel this problem, but when i shipped on the web everything is oke.

NOTE: I have been using the "uBlock origin" add on for the past few years(it was nice work for productivity).

This command doesn't just happen on its own without being clicked; I have several times experienced the same thing, but it happens mostly any week that I frequently use my mobile phone to post on the forum. Any time I come across people on my ignore, I usually wonder when I have performed such actions but seem not to remember then. I realised that any time I am trying to click on trust," I can mistakenly click on the ignore instead of the trust. 
I am of the same opinion as you that there should be a confirmation message that permits you to add or remove someone from the list. I just hope it can be added one day.

There could be many reasons attached to having such experience, one of which may be when the browser you're using stops functioning immediately or hangs while you're trying to navigate round the board busy pressing some functions without knowing other things are being pressed along, we can also by unaware hit the ignore button unknowingly to us, i think having a confirmation for ignoring someone will also make it not a one way action in one direction, there can be a confirmation request to press ok for it.

If I use the forum on mobile than is when that happens to me. Generally, I do not ignore anyone by putting them in the  ignore list. I can ignore anyone by not reading their posts or reacting to them. But I will be scrolling another day and find out that the particular user is ignored by my unknowingly.

There are two possible solutions, but Op mentioned number one.

• Make ignore button have confirmation  before execution.
• Take the ignore button off the position it is, close to the trust icon. Someone trying to click the trust icon may unknowingly click the ignore icon.
