18261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Minexcoin - A new era of payments on: April 02, 2017, 05:51:32 PM
A coin pegged to a basket of Top 10 cryptos? That's going to be very difficult to track for one, for the other cryptos pop in and out of the Top 10 (are talking Market Cap I assume?) all the time. For the other, some are only there due to market manipulation. I think it's a great idea, but that does need to be tested first.
18262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins with a solid team support on: April 02, 2017, 04:50:07 PM
It depends on what you mean by team support.

Steem has excellent developers. But their communication skills are truly dire. Sometimes technical skill is not enough, you need the ability to communicate, and you need the ability to market your coin.

IMO Ether is doing so well because they have a great communication team - it is such a good team that they have managed to overcome all the negative publicity associated with teh DAO hacks.

You've said a rarely understood criterion for success: any kind of project/business needs strong communicators. Tech is relatively "easy" to hire but getting the right messages across, translating them accurately, moving momentum against or with sentiment etc. All of that is a little complex and quite difficult to locate and hire.
18263  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Investments on: April 02, 2017, 04:46:56 PM
The only way I can see how holders can be involved in trading is simply by lending to margin traders. In theory as I understand, the more there is to borrow, the easier it will be to trade on higher margins and the more traders can be active. I imagine that if a lot more holders loaned out their coins on major exchanges, offering lower interest rates, there could be a positive effect on volume.
18264  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: freebitco.in Annual investment on: April 02, 2017, 10:06:24 AM

Is it me or it seems their faucet payouts have been decreasing big time recently. This does not have mean anything but it might be a sign of trouble of shift in their investments. If they keep doing this, people will switch to something else.

It's you and it's not! Yes, it has been decreasing over time, but only because Bitcoin price has been increasing over time. You seem to know about their faucet payouts but perhaps have not been paying attention to what you're actually getting. The payouts are fixed at a fiat price in USD. So the amount of satoshi you get changes each hour based on the price of BTC at the time.
18265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CKS]Chicks, very rare!! | vote for chicks and get reward!! on: April 02, 2017, 08:28:28 AM
Nice to see the votes really picking up at POSWallet, although coins like TRUMP and HONEY just jumped the queue so quickly! I wonder if we'll make it in time for their exchange, if and when it finally gets up and running, that is.

My updated tally (edited on 10 April): #171, #177, #183, #192, #207, #218, #229, #237, #245 and 255 (10 votes).

18266  Economy / Economics / Re: [Manipulation 101] Market cap (to all who love repeating it these days) on: April 02, 2017, 08:24:06 AM
Got to agree market cap is misleading and that bitcoin's is as misleading as that of alts but this isn't to say it has no value. Of course it is still one of the points of information that can be used to help you determine a number of things with crypto. Pay little attention to how coins are touted by their market cap, but don't pay no attention.
18267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Zebpay's Petition to Announce Bitcoin as Legal in India on: April 01, 2017, 07:04:28 PM
Petition will just be signed by people desperate to get Zebpay back on track rather than actual support or advocacy for bitcoin. Not that getting even a million signatures will budget the decision. All the same, don't forget to update.
18268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs altcoins because ... on: April 01, 2017, 05:50:41 PM
Not that bitcoin needs alt rather that it shouldn't see alts as reductive. An alternative is simply that. Bitcoin wasn't meant to displace or to monopolize it was itself an alternative.

That said, can't see how an alt is bad in any way for bitcoin.
18269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: 'Blood Diamonds' Of The Digital Era on: March 31, 2017, 02:26:19 PM
Oh the outrage, the eloquent outrage of false journalists pandering to sensationalist hype that's at least four years old. If only proper media with accredited backgrounds and reputable credentials would write about bitcoin. Oh, wait. Forbes.

Can't blame the journalist for writing what the editors think. For a moment when I read it I thought I was reading about the dollar.
18270  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction mapping on: March 31, 2017, 01:26:18 PM
This type of mapping could also inadvertently connect false dots, if I understand the term correctly. For example, all the bitcoins I have ever owned or currently own were given to me, never mined. Simple taint analysis could connect me even 2 links away to say gambling sites, porn, simply by getting paid with other people's previously owned bitcoins, no?

18271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin 20 Years From Now on: March 31, 2017, 01:23:34 PM
Bitcoin has been established as a commodity in its first phase. Now,in its final phase,it has to be established as a currency. It has been estimated that bitcoin could become the sixth largest reserve currency by 2030.Within 20 years, bitcoin would be accepted as a payment method in many countries since japan is to announce it as payment method by april 2017.

As tempting as it is to consider Bitcoin as mature and in its "final phase", it would be very presumptuous of a technology that isn't even a decade old, and the majority of users (myself included) aren't even halfway understanding how it works. 6th largest reserve currency is a tout that probably holds true only because of all of us holders.
18272  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Chinese Bitcoin Exchanges Implement Video Verification to Resume Withdrawals on: March 30, 2017, 11:01:34 AM
Understandable at some point... but when AML/KYC and due diligence for cryptocurrency users far exceeds that of regular fiat or even other forms of electronic currency, it can be a major obstacle for adoption.

I do agree the general user will probably just comply, but I suppose they want to try and take a hit out on suspected activity. This sort of move will only push illegal activity deeper down the rabbit hole.
18273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CKS]Chicks, very rare!! | vote for chicks and get reward!! on: March 30, 2017, 08:28:31 AM

What are those numbers ? is that to get added to an exchange with voting ?

Hey Blast, basically, people are posting the votes they made on tradesatoshi and poswallet in a bid to get this coin listed on those exchanges. Both will list the coin at 1,000 votes, so OP has been rewarding users with coins for every vote. Now only poswallet votes count, and here are my updated:

PosWallet votes #171, #177 (2 votes as of yesterday)
18274  Economy / Services / Re: PayBis signature campaign [FULL] on: March 30, 2017, 08:22:51 AM

Usually we calculate and send payouts every Monday (9 pm; GMT +2).

Thanks for your suggestion, i am not sure how it will save fees, if you make bulk payment you pay fee for every added address. If you know other way how not to pay fees, please share it Smiley

Hi paybis! You definitely save fees if you do bulk transaction, because, other than the fee you pay per byte, there is also a fixed fee that is added PER transaction. So, making 1 tx means you only pay that fixed fee once. Of course, you still have to pay the fee per byte for all the other inputs you add. Also, this means when you confirm the tx, we all get it at the same time, so there should be fewer complaints.

Maybe if you mention the wallet you are using, we can help you more?
18275  Economy / Speculation / Re: People selling alts to go back in BTC on: March 29, 2017, 05:18:26 PM
Looks like OP was right. Bitcoin is going up and all alts have been on the red, except 3 big winners:

Bitcoin Plus
Bitcoin Dark
Bitstar

People holding coins got rich last night from those, and they are still looking healthy for the uptrend.
Who they are? its the first time that i read it

just open coinmarketcap.com or any other altcoin exchange there is and sort their lists based on 24 hour change and you will see which coin was the "pump of the day" that day.
and these 3 has been pumped recently. there is no need for you and I to have even heard their names, the pumpers start pumping these coins without any reason. it is all the money they have been earning in the past weeks from big coins that they are now investing in random smaller coins to pump them and increase the profit.

Precisely my thoughts. Coins like these appear out of nowhere and don't particularly need legitimacy (I say this also holding a silly sum of an extremely silly alt that has no reason to live and rise in price other than because someone(s) involved in pumping it). Whatever it is, don't be naive and think you can get into the "game" unscathed. Focus on what's at play for the long term.
18276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin Comeback 2017? on: March 29, 2017, 05:13:37 PM
Well, I have felt a bit like kicking myself when looking at DASH and ETH have rose, and I can't see why the same won't happen for one of the few alts I have a small sum in. Like many have posted, it's well established (I say this chiefly on the number of LTC faucets out there and the sites I use all accept LTC) and development is alive and well.

At worst, it won't be a dead coin in 2017!
18277  Economy / Services / Re: PayBis signature campaign [FULL] on: March 29, 2017, 11:03:32 AM
Let me be the first one to inform I got my payment for this past week but why the payment has been reduced?
last week I got 0.0162 btc and this week only 0.0138 btc. Why?

I would also like to report that I have seen the payment tx from two hours ago, only that it hasn't confirmed. As stated earlier, however, I have no issue if this will save OP on fees.

OP, a suggestion. Please amend the payment schedule to say that you will make payments on Tuesdays, and using low fees so expect payments to be delayed. Also, why not make 1 bulk payment to all of us? You'll save on fees that way.

Wapinter: have you been joining this campaign as a hero member without reading the terms? You get paid per accepted post, and you can check the calculations done by looking at the spreadsheet on the first post.
18278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MEG] MetaGold Crowdfunding ICO - twitter and signatures bounty campaign on: March 28, 2017, 08:57:54 AM
You might want to do a bit of cleaning up on very minor but potentially problematic issues, such as the spelling of "signature" on the very first banner that greets the reader of this thread:)

Otherwise, I'm a sucker for RPG-related crypto... it's the gamer in me perhaps. So will be curious to see how this turns out.
18279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is BU an attack on Bitcoin? on: March 28, 2017, 08:51:47 AM
I wish both sides would be a little less dramatic, do away with the theatrical and get closer to the points they want to make.

Even the article quoted at the very first plays to the same stoking of sentiments. Almost every educated article is filled with rhetoric and unnecessary superlatives. Why can't they just tell us the pros and cons and be objective about it?

I just read yesterday on this forum of a user who's sick with both sides bickering and is diversifying into an alt. I suspect more will take this path.
18280  Economy / Services / Re: PayBis signature campaign [FULL] on: March 28, 2017, 07:31:33 AM
Hey hulla, I've been in this campaign from the very start and from what I understand, paybis sends out several transactions, which I assume is just following the order of the participants' list. Monday is always the counting day and transactions start from there. I usually receive mine by Tuesday/Wednesday when it confirms.

It's been a well-run campaign from the start, so really, just need to be patient. The spreadsheet has been updated too, so if you're on the list, paybis will get to you=)
