18281  Economy / Speculation / Re: Get ready to SODL on: February 27, 2017, 04:50:58 AM
Time for another round of profit taking if we hit 1200$.
If ETF passes we will go 10,000+
It's very optimisms. basically, we must see the US condition. And about $10,000 it is really big decimal just for the SEC approval.  I have thing if the bitcoin will never $1500 after the SEC will be approving bitcoin.
We are speaking about multi-hundred million dollars and not about multi-hundred billion dollars. My guess it will not push the price of bitcoin over $1400.
Although the bad news will be coming on 11 march and get ready for the bull trap.

it is not called optimism, that is called an illusion.
this approval will be great and will have so many good long term effects on bitcoin but to expect such a ridiculous rise is just not real.
18282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think the big names are invested already? on: February 27, 2017, 04:42:19 AM
bitcoin is a bit of a high risk and unpredictable and it has been much harder to predict it before, that is why i say the chances of these guys investing in bitcoin in the past has been low. this may not continue to be true in the future though. specially as the market size grows.
18283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mother of all spam attacks on bitcoin network! proof? on: February 26, 2017, 05:38:10 PM
Adresses spotted by amaclin (from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1803970.0) are not spamming but used by komodo notary nodes
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1605144.0

You've already gotten a proper answer so i won't repeat it.
but in this topic, i am listing all the "Spams" on bitcoin blockchain whenever i find a series of them anywhere. and as you can see i am keeping the "why" of it to a minimum.

and this IS spam no matter the reason:

18284  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Stop Re-Broadcasting? on: February 26, 2017, 06:46:15 AM
write down your seed. use file > new/restore to restore your wallet from seed. see if that does it.
if it doesn't then rename your electrum data directory which is one level up from teh wallet directory:
http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#where-is-my-wallet-file-located
then run electrum and restore your wallet from seed. see if that fixes it.

that is not going to work. Electrum is not "re-broadcasting" the transaction. the nodes are. Electrum is just getting the transaction from them.
it calls the node that it connects to and asks what transaction belong to my pubkey and then tell it this and that and this is unconfirmed.

(*) this means even if you delete,.... restore,... you still get the transaction as unconfirmed in your wallet and still can not spend the funds.

a weird way that i can think of would be making a raw transaction with the same outputs with a different tool and then restore your wallets offline to sign the transaction and broadcast it online through somewhere that allows you to double spend.
i say offline to eliminate the (*) step above

p.s. there may be easier ways such as using the console but i am not familiar with it.
18285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with Bitcoin? on: February 26, 2017, 06:37:00 AM
you should ask what is wrong with people! bitcoin is working as it should be.

on one hand we have developers and the community that can not come to a consensus as to how to solve this prolonged block size debate.

on another hand we have the miners who seems to be more than happy about the current situation with the fee war and enjoying the massive bonus they are getting for free that has made they greedy profit ~8% more

and in the middle of all this we have an entity spamming the network. i don't know what they try to achieve but the only result of this is pissed of users and richer miners and absolutely nothing else.
18286  Economy / Speculation / Re: Swiss Bank offers Participation certificate on Bitcoin (like a mini ETF) on: February 26, 2017, 06:18:38 AM
everyone is too busy with US ETF, and China PBoC crap and all the rest, and meanwhile Swiss is turning into a bitcoin haven silently and without many people noticing.

did you know you can buy bitcoin from literary every train station alongside buying ticket train!
18287  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Most reputable exchange for US based person? on: February 26, 2017, 06:13:04 AM
Hi All,
What is/are the most reputable/secure exchange to use to buy/sell BTC for someone based in the US?
The ability to withdraw/deposit USD to a US based bank account is needed.
Poloniex seems good but it doesn't seem you can withdraw/deposit US dollars?
Thanks in advance..

poloniex does not have any fiat markets, that is a common misunderstanding because they have a USDT market. and USDT is an altcoin called Tether which is the same as USD fiat price. aka 1 USDT = 1 USD. but it is a cryptocurrency.

use coinbase or their exchange called Gdax.
18288  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to sign offline transaction? on: February 26, 2017, 06:09:31 AM
i just tested this with version 2.7.9 as offline version and i get the same error, that is weird and i think that was a bug in that version, and it is fixed when you upgrade to a newer version as i said above.

also
I then booted into Xubuntu 16.04 Live CD and
installed latest electrum,
 restored wallet from seed,
{here you download the blockchain headers and sync since you are not yet disconnected!}
disconnected the PC and
signed my transaction no problem, then powered off the PC.
18289  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How hard is it really to make money on: February 26, 2017, 05:54:57 AM
hey,   i am thinking of learning to make money of bitcoin,

the first and only thing you need to know is that "making money of bitcoin" is a wrong way of thinking. bitcoin is money itself and there is absolutely no difference between earning money and earning bitcoin.

you either invest your money in bitcoin and see that as profit.

or you do any job that you are capable of and get paid with bitcoin.
18290  Economy / Speculation / Re: I think bull run coming soon on: February 26, 2017, 05:44:17 AM
Instead of a bull run to the moon based on the charts, In my opinion a bull run to the earth is what we will see. Based on what I see in the charts that OP posted bitcoin's price are holding in the price right now because there's someone buying to counter with the sell that is happening. In my opinion if they decided to stop and just dump it, surely a dump will occur to sub 1000$ but it will rise again soon so it will be one crazy movements.

in your dreams.

i am sorry if you are waiting for sub $1000. that is not going to happen with the current situation. unless we see some series of negative news FUD such as ETF getting rejected, or another wave of China bullshit. otherwise 3 digit price is long gone.
18291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin fees have quadrupled, and this is just the beginning on: February 26, 2017, 05:34:48 AM
And at the end, the fees will replace the network reward.

no problem here, only the rules.

did you just contradict yourself Cheesy
this is not the end! the fees are supposed to go up when miners stop earning 15,000 USD per block and have to compensate for their costs with the fees.
right now we are paying them more than they deserve and that is why they are not adopting any of the solutions.

18292  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is BTC's maximum target price/ceiling? on: February 25, 2017, 06:11:55 AM
Final in 36 months? or in bitcoin history?

In 36 months according to reports I read from analycists on Twitter.

those whom you call "analycists" on twitter are mostly hyping or FUDing bitcoin, majority of them aren't really doing valid analysis. but i would love to see some examples, it is always good to see some analysis around here.

in any case i still think we can't see rises more than 100% per year and it can get harder as price goes higher too. so in 36 months a price about 5000-6000 USD is a more logical number to me than a 10,000 USD price.
although these things depend on lots of things when it comes to a long term change.
18293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: blockchain spam on: February 25, 2017, 05:55:47 AM
Added to my list of Mother of all spam attacks
This is starting to get silly.
18294  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price on: February 25, 2017, 05:43:47 AM
Is it wise to buy in bitcoins now at a so high price($1171)?
Do you think it is going to rise a new high level?

you account is registered in 2014 and if after 3 years you still don't know if it is wise or not to buy bitcoin, then there is nothing we can say to help you buy or not buy at this price, you have already seen all the prices so far.

unless you are just spamming here to have your signature advertised?
18295  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to sign offline transaction? on: February 25, 2017, 05:38:01 AM
back up your seed and wallet file and then upgrade to the latest version (2.7.18) your problem should be solved.

i may be wrong about this but i think your cold storage can not find the keys to sign the transaction. there may be something missing from the unsigned transaction you are trying to sign because of version differences. that may be why it is trying to contact a server to ask that server what keys does your "transaction id" belong to.
18296  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Trading in Chinese Yuan Drops to One-Third of Market in 30 Days on: February 25, 2017, 05:28:43 AM
Additionally the Bitcoin volume is shifting to the western world away from China basically having the monopoly on Bitcoin,
this makes the price less dependent on what the PBoC does next.

you bumped an old topic to say this!!
the volume first dropped because of the removal of zero fees, removal of other trading services and also the PBoC's investigation.
then it dropped more recently because these top Chinese exchanges disabled withdrawals for the time being.

the Volume of China has never dropped though. the fake volume went away but the Chinese are still trading bitcoin whether it is on western exchanges or it is p2p they are doing it.
18297  Economy / Economics / Re: What It Means For Banks When Bitcoin Is Worth More Than Gold? on: February 25, 2017, 05:24:01 AM
banks are happy when bitcoin price goes up, because it means by the time bitcoin is rising there are a lot of translations going through their service which will give them lots more fees to process all these transactions. once when people deposit money on exchanges to buy bitcoin and once when they sold and cash out to banks.
an by the time prices are rising like this, people do this more.
18298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Traders Are Cockroches on: February 25, 2017, 05:15:12 AM
Bitcoin now should be above 1300$ but as soon Bitcoin cross 1200$ these cockroches sell then it comes down to 1150$ then it rise again to 1200$ and these cockroches sell again...
Bitcoin should cost more than gold price for at atleast a month to get massive media attention, gold price right now is 1250$, so Bitcoin must to cost at least 1270$ to get it to the next level with massive media attention and investments.

No this is not speculation, they are playing with market...

so what? you need a rise to the moon overnight! these things take time, do you know what a bubble is? if we see price go to moon as you want, soon there will be a bubble shaping up and that is going to pop.
but i doubt you care because you are apparently looking for a quick profit to take and get the hell out of bitcoin. otherwise the rest of us are more than happy about slow price rise which is slow but strong.
18299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not dead yet but should be. on: February 25, 2017, 05:07:54 AM
According to this fucking moron reporter over at gizmodo.  Roll Eyes

and what are all these html tags that you have added after the link? is it your own site? and what is the point of sharing a useless unknown article here to mis-direct people's attention to?
18300  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 BTC Here we come! on: February 24, 2017, 05:30:10 AM
I'm going to faint when i see $10.000 on my screen. When i wake up again i book a nice holiday to the Bahama's Cool

haha, so i am not the only one checking the price before time when i wake up Cheesy
it is a good way to wake up though, when you see a sudden change that fills you with adrenaline...
