One GOP 2016 Candidate (Rand) Has Really Drawn Krauthammer’s (Fox's showcase neocon) Ire: His ‘Ignorance Really Astonishes Me’

Conservative political pundit Charles Krauthammer ripped into Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul Friday over recent comments the Kentucky senator made on the Islamic State.

“Sometimes Ron Paul’s ignorance really astonishes me,” Krauthammer told radio host Hugh Hewitt, before clarifying that he was referring to Rand Paul.

Paul drew controversy this week after he said that “hawks” in the Republican Party had been responsible for the rise of the Islamic State.

Krauthammer adamantly disagreed, listing several reasons he thought the senator was wrong.

What are uncle Huckabee's numbers like today after supporting a sex predator?
First of all, I wouldn't call the Duggar dude a sex predator like I would Bill Clinton but the social conservatives tend to stick with their guys (Huck) unless it's really egregious. That said, Huck isn't getting much press w/ Rand getting all the attention and lashing out by fellow GOPers cause of his comments blaming ISIS on the war hawks in his party. Huck ain't going anywhere in this race and is no threat to the nomination besides being a pesky thorn in early Iowa. The republican establishment is lining up behind Bush, Rubio and Walker (of top tier candidates) and the rest are viewed as anti or off-establishment types who are there to crowd out the only real anti-establishment dude in Rand Paul.

US military pilots complain hands tied in ‘frustrating’ fight against ISIS

U.S. military pilots carrying out the air war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria are voicing growing discontent over what they say are heavy-handed rules of engagement hindering them from striking targets.

They blame a bureaucracy that does not allow for quick decision-making. One Navy F-18 pilot who has flown missions against ISIS voiced his frustration to Fox News, saying: "There were times I had groups of ISIS fighters in my sights, but couldn't get clearance to engage.”

He added, “They probably killed innocent people and spread evil because of my inability to kill them. It was frustrating."

Sources close to the air war against ISIS told Fox News that strike missions take, on average, just under an hour, from a pilot requesting permission to strike an ISIS target to a weapon leaving the wing.

A spokesman for the U.S. Air Force’s Central Command pushed back: “We refute the idea that close air support strikes take 'an hour on average'. Depending on the how complex the target environment is, a strike could take place in less than 10 minutes or it could take much longer.

"As our leaders have said, this is a long-term fight, and we will not alienate civilians, the Iraqi government or our coalition partners by striking targets indiscriminately."

A former U.S. Air Force general who led air campaigns over Iraq and Afghanistan also said today's pilots are being "micromanaged," and the process for ordering strikes is slow -- squandering valuable minutes and making it possible for the enemy to escape.

“You're talking about hours in some cases, which by that time the particular tactical target left the area and or the aircraft has run out of fuel. These are excessive procedures that are handing our adversary an advantage,” said retired Lt. Gen. David Deptula, a former director of the Combined Air Operations Center in Afghanistan in 2001.

Deptula also contrasted the current air campaign against ISIS with past air campaigns.

The U.S.-led airstrikes over Iraq during the first Gulf War averaged 1,125 strike sorties per day, according to Deptula. He said the Kosovo campaign averaged 135 strikes per day. In 2003, the famous “shock and awe” campaign over Iraq saw 800 strikes per day.

Herman Cain: Santorum announces doomed presidential bid in interview with pretend journalist

Ugh.

I may give Bernie Sanders a lot of flak for being unelectable, but I don't want anyone to think Democrats have the market cornered when it comes to candidates with no chance of winning. Though he hasn't announced, we assume Jeb Bush is going to seek the Republican nomination, and the party already has Mike Huckabee in the race. Now, it will have to deal with a doomed Rick Santorum candidacy as well.

Santorum made his announcement in a televised interview with pretend journalist George Stephanopoulos, and you can watch the clip below. To quickly sum it up, he's angling to re-fight the values-and-morality campaign that failed him in 2012, and will have even less traction this time around.

....And that's about it.

Does he bring anything to the table that hasn't already been rejected? Nope.

Former Governor George Pataki announces 2016 bid, says he would back 'boots on the ground' to fight ISIS

Former New York Gov. George Pataki, announcing Thursday that he'll seek the Republican nomination for president in 2016, told Fox News that he would authorize American "boots on the ground" to go after Islamic State targets in Iraq.

The former Republican governor weighed in on a debate that has divided the party. Pataki insisted he does not want to see a "trillion-dollar, decade-long war," but said the U.S. cannot allow ISIS to have "recruiting" and "training" centers.

"If necessary, we will send in American boots on the ground to destroy those training centers, destroy those planning centers and then get out," he said. The U.S. has more than 3,000 troops in Iraq to train and equip Iraqi forces, but they are not technically in a combat role.

Pataki, meanwhile, pledged to run on a "reform agenda" as he joins a crowded field seeking the GOP nomination in 2016.

"My whole life has prepared me for this moment," Pataki told Fox News. "I am running."

Pataki formally announced his campaign shortly afterward at a rally in Exeter, N.H., which served as the state capital during the Revolutionary War and claims to be the birthplace of the Republican Party. "Let the next decade be the decade where America proves to the world, you ain't seen nothing yet," Pataki told the crowd.

Fox News' poll coverage omits Rand Paul

Since Rand Paul launched his bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, he has consistently finished between third and sixth place in polls that include as many as 19 GOP contenders.

Yet when Fox News reports on those polls, the Kentucky senator is at times nowhere to be found. For instance: A Quinnipiac poll released Thursday had Paul in sixth. But when Fox News ran an image of ten candidates under the banner, "If The Republican Primary Were Held Today," based on that poll, Paul's name and visage were missing.

Rare's Nick Morpus notes that Fox News similarly omitted Paul from an in-house poll it ran two weeks ago, measuring how Republican hopefuls would fare against Hillary Clinton. Paul's name just wasn't there. Never mind that two weeks prior to that, Fox News did include Paul's name in a survey that showed him polling highest against Hillary.

UPDATE (7:15 p.m.): A Fox News spokesperson told the On Media blog that the omission was nothing more than a “program error."

Chris Matthews can occasionally be a decent guy. His delivery/attitude is sometimes annoying, but overall he is far from being the worst person on TV.
Yeah, I really don't get this guy. He's the same one that said Obama being Prez sends a tingle down his leg back when. But, he's always been beyond fair to Rand going back to his run for Senate when he lambasted Rand's opponent for something while always saying how intelligent and thoughtful Rand was/is. The man is a liberal hack on one hand then is like totally normal and off-script when talking about Rand.

They really don't explain anything other than to say it was a "program error", but it's interesting that this story is starting to gain some steam with Mediaite now picking it up. I wonder if Fox News will pull these shenanigans again anytime soon, now that it is starting to attract attention.

Fox News Explains Why Rand Paul Was Left Out of 2016 Poll Graphic

A funny thing happened on Thursday morning when Fox & Friends presented the results of the most recent Quinnipiac poll that found five Republican presidential candidates tied for first place with 10% each. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who finished sixth on the list with 7%, was no where to be found:

...

And apparently, this is not the first time Fox has left Paul out of it’s polling coverage. Earlier this month, Fox placed Paul’s name at the bottom and Jeb Bush’s name at the top of a graphic that showed how candidates are fairing against Hillary Clinton, despite the fact that Paul was the leader. Then, the following week, Fox left Paul out of its internal poll completely, which once again showed Bush in the lead.

Mediaite reached out to a Fox News representative who explained the Fox & Friends omission was nothing more than a “program error.” Also, Sen. Paul appeared on Fox & Friends May 26th.

Rand is ready to rumble.

A super PAC supporting Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has taken out the first Republican-on-Republican ad of the 2016 election cycle, a WWE-inspired spot where he promises a "Brawl for Liberty" under the Capitol dome Sunday over the Patriot Act, which he has vowed to end.

The Kentucky senator and his allies spent 11 hours speaking on the Senate floor last week and played a role in the Senate's decision to adjourn without voting on the issue; the body will reconvene Sunday to take it up.

"Get ready, America, for the biggest brawl for liberty of the century!" a WWE-style announcer screams as a cartoon of a screeching bald eagle flies across the screen.

"Defender of freedom, Senator Rand Paul!" the announcer yells. The ad was funded by America's Liberty PAC.

The video cuts to Paul's head superimposed on the torso of a jacked, shirtless man standing in front of an American flag. A cloud of flames explodes in back of him.

He's taking on President Obama or, his wrestling name, "Obama the email reader." He is aided by his "so-called conservative" sidekicks -- and here comes the Republican-on-Republican violence.

Meet "The Capitulating Canadian," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), who is battling Paul in real life for the 2016 nomination. Cruz is pictured wearing shorts and boxing gloves and standing in front of the Canadian flag, flanked by a moose and Obama.

Paul's other competitor is Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who has repeatedly clashed with Paul and rolled his eyes while Paul was talking on the Senate floor. Graham is "trying to read your emails while doing donuts in a 1997 Geo Metro." The pink car ends up in flames.

"Watch them battle it out under the dome on the floor of the United States Senate," the ad says.

The ad is part of a multi-platform digital campaign that will include Facebook, Twitter and search advertising. It comes as Paul's camp issues a deluge of tweets, fundraising e-mails ads pledging to continue to fight the Patriot Act. In the wake of his Senate floor marathon, critics -- including Obama, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) -- have piled on Paul, who seems to relish in swinging back.

Clinton Foundation paid Blumenthal $10K per month while he advised on Libya

Sidney Blumenthal, a longtime confidant of Bill and Hillary Clinton, earned about $10,000 a month as a full-time employee of the Clinton Foundation while he was providing unsolicited intelligence on Libya to then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to multiple sources familiar with the arrangement.

Blumenthal was added to the payroll of the Clintons’ global philanthropy in 2009 — not long after advising Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign — at the behest of former president Bill Clinton, for whom he had worked in the White House, say the sources.

While Blumenthal’s foundation job focused on highlighting the legacy of Clinton’s presidency, some officials at the charity questioned his value and grumbled that his hiring was a favor from the Clintons, according to people familiar with the foundation. They say that, during a 2013 reform push, Blumenthal was moved to a consulting contract that came with a similar pay rate but without benefits — an arrangement that endured until March.

A Clinton loyalist who first earned the family’s trust as an aggressive combatant in the political battles of the 1990s, Blumenthal continues to work as a paid consultant to two groups supporting Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign — American Bridge and Media Matters — both of which are run by David Brock, a close ally of both Clinton and Blumenthal.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Don't let Bill back in the White House, he abused women and he'll do it again.' Paula Jones warns against voting for Hillary - because she also lied about sex case which almost cost him presidency

She was the woman who almost brought down the president, with her allegations of sexual harassment.
But 21 years after Paula Jones accused Bill Clinton of lurid behavior, she is speaking out against Hillary and insisting that his wife is not fit to be President either - because of her husband's history of bad behavior.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail Online Jones delivers her own verdict on Hillary's bid to become president, saying that her husband's attitude towards women disqualifies Bill from re-entering the White House - while what she calls Hillary's 'lies' disqualify her from the Oval Office.
'There is no way that she did not know what was going on, that women were being abused and accosted by her husband,' she says. 'They have both lied.'
Jones, 48, became a national figure when in 1994 she sued President Clinton for sexual harassment after an incident in an Arkansas hotel room three years earlier.
Her lawsuit led to Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky being uncovered and led to Clinton being impeached, accused of lying about the nature of his relationship with the White House intern.

Putin accuses US of meddling into FIFA affairs

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the United States of meddling in FIFA's affairs and hinted that it was part of an attempt to take the 2018 World Cup away from his country.

Putin said in televised comments Thursday that he found it "odd" that the probe was launched at the request of U.S. officials for crimes which do not involve its citizens and did not happen in the United States.

Corruption charges in the U.S. were announced Wednesday against 14 people, with at least two of them holding American citizenship. Seven of the 14 were arrested Wednesday morning in Zurich ahead of a FIFA meeting and Friday's presidential election in which Sepp Blatter is expected to win a fifth term.

In a separate probe, Swiss prosecutors opened criminal proceedings into FIFA's awarding of the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the 2022 tournament to Qatar.

Putin said even if "someone has done something wrong," Russia "has nothing to do with it." He then tried to portray the probe as a U.S. attempt to go after dissenters, likening the case to the persecution of whistleblowers Julian Assange and Edward Snowden.

Mother, 7-Year-Old Son Killed In Baltimore Shooting

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Shock and sadness in a Southwest Baltimore community after a double murder. One of the victims — just seven-years-old.

Derek Valcourt has more on the victims and where the investigation stands right now.

Family members look on in horror as the bodies of the mother and her young son are pulled from their home at 103 Upmanor Road in the Uplands neighborhood of Southwest Baltimore.

Jennifer Jeffrey Browne, 31, and her seven-year-old son Kester “Tony” Browne were found dead just after 8 a.m. Thursday — both shot in the head.
Neighbors — appalled.

“Who can do this? What kind of person is he?” asked Donald Barber.

Baltimore residents fearful amid rash of homicides

BALTIMORE (AP) — Antoinette Perrine has barricaded her front door since her brother was killed three weeks ago on a basketball court near her home in the Harlem Park neighborhood of West Baltimore. She already has iron bars outside her windows and added metal slabs on the inside to deflect the gunfire.

"I'm afraid to go outside," said Perrine, 47. "It's so bad, people are afraid to let their kids outside. People wake up with shots through their windows. Police used to sit on every corner, on the top of the block. These days? They're nowhere."

Perrine's brother is one of 36 people killed in Baltimore so far this month, already the highest homicide count for May since 1999. But while homicides are spiking, arrests have plunged more than 50 percent compared to last year.

The drop in arrests followed the death of Freddie Gray from injuries he suffered in police custody. Gray's death sparked protests against the police and some rioting, and led to the indictment of six officers.

Baltimore Gets Bloodier As Arrests Drop Post-Freddie Gray

BALTIMORE (AP) — A 31-year-old woman and a young boy were shot in the head Thursday, becoming Baltimore’s 37th and 38th homicide victims so far this month, the city’s deadliest in 15 years.

The most recent killings claimed the lives of Jennifer Jeffrey and her seven-year-old son, Kester Anthony Browne. They were identified by Jeffrey’s sister, Danielle Wilder.

Jeffrey and her son were found dead early Thursday, each from gunshot wounds to the head.
As family members cried and held each other on the quiet, leafy block in Southwest Baltimore where they lived, Wilder said she felt as if “my heart has been ripped out.”

Wilder said a neighbor called their other sister early Thursday, concerned that she hadn’t hear any noise coming from Jeffrey’s house: no footsteps, Wilder said, no voices, and no gunshots. But when her brother let himself into the house to check on the mother and son, he discovered their bodies.

Israel is hoping to receive $4.2-$4.5 billion a year in military aid from the United States for ten years, to counter the threat from Iran and oil-rich Middle East states that have been re-arming rapidly, a senior Israeli source has told Defense News

Under a 10-year deal signed in 2007, Israel receives just over $3 billion a year in American aid, with stipulations that over 70 percent of that aid has to be spent buying US military hardware. An extension of that agreement, running to 2028, was principally agreed on by Barack Obama during a visit to Israel in 2013, but according to Haaretz, talks on its terms have been “preliminary and unofficial.”

Looks like these Baltimore folks will have to defend themselves from the parasites they live around cause it looks like the police are throwing the towel.

-----

West Baltimore residents worry they've been abandoned by the officers they once accused of harassing them, leaving some neighborhoods like the Wild West without a lawman around. "Before it was over-policing. Now there's no police," said Donnail "Dreads" Lee, 34, who lives in the Gilmor Homes, the public housing complex where Gray, 25, was chased down. "People feel as though they can do things and get away with it. I see people walking with guns almost every single day, because they know the police aren't pulling them up like they used to."

Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said his officers "are not holding back," despite encountering dangerous hostility in the Western District. "Our officers tell me that when officers pull up, they have 30 to 50 people surrounding them at any time," Batts said.
