1841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would online Bitcoin commerce work? on: October 12, 2011, 06:08:24 AM
I've been following Bitcoin for a while now, and one hurdle to its use as a currency I'm not seeing how to overcome is the lack of accountability in online commerce.

Online shopping works in large part because you know that if BudgetComputer.com doesn't send you the memory they promised, you can always sic Visa on them.  With Bitcoin, one party has to hand over their goods or money without any way of knowing that the other party will hold up their end of the bargain.  And if they don't, there's nothing you can do about it.

What is to stop people from putting up websites, collecting money, and then simply disappearing with it?  Wouldn't adoption of Bitcoin essentially drive out small businesses as people flock to the larger sites like Newegg and Amazon, in the hopes that a big company is less likely to rob you than a small one?

Its all about trust. period.

I highly doubt half the people from purchasing major website that you mentioned are going their because they know they can get their money back... I think they "trust" that the company will give the products up because they see the ad's on tv,internet, radio and then they hear they're friends talk about how great the service was so then they think "Well if everyone else uses and trust them, why don't i go ahead and give it a try?"
-----------

If your looking for a trust worthy bitcoin website try mine out. I've shipped over 8 packages already(if you need references PM and I'll supply them to you I don't like publicly stating peoples activity)

1844  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why doesn't gox have money in their Dwolla????? on: October 12, 2011, 02:32:05 AM
We have to wait until they transfer funds in.
Also, there is no reason the dwolla account cant go negative right?
Gox stated they don't have money in their dwolla, and they are waiting for some to transfer in.
This sounds like a newly opened exchange, not one with the most experience by far.
Hopefully they-
1) Have the money still.
2) Trust Dwolla more than it looks like.
3) Hurry it up.

The only way to avoid Dwolla reversing an ACH is to pull the money out of Dwolla right away.  Dwolla can't deduct from a 0 balance.  TradeHill learned that the hard way.  And unfortunately if Dwolla continues the policy of subtracting money from your account in event of a dispute, then I wouldn't leave any balance there either.

ACtually one time my dwolla account did go negative is was wierd. There was a glitch in there system took'em a day to get it fixed tho.

Thanks for making a HappyTreeFriends of Bitcoin you did a great job, Not only did you fail at creating a "Solid" currency you also succeeded at gathering hopeless individuals and influencing them to believe that thier is "A new hope" but now I have to listen to 1000 pms a day now(from one person) that solidcoin is open again and how its going to change the future of bitcoin and how solidcoind will take over bitcoins and bitcoins will just be a dream in a magical far away place..

Well I'm sick of hearing it.  Now that solidcoin is back up I gotta hear solidcoin this solidcoin that..... I'm sick of it....

//End frustration

Do you mean gross income? Because a net income of 0.4 BTC means you earned 50.4BTC off two people!

I think what he meant was obvious... he certainly didn't earn 50.4 btc from 2 transactions.
How ever much fun it might be, there is no need to rub salt in his wound with pedantic comments like that.

I agree aswell shallow and padantic....

1853  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The Cheaper In Bitcoins Solution - The newly recoded website is going to be live on: October 11, 2011, 12:27:11 AM
Oh yeah why is it so hard to leave this forum?
Its worse then being addicted to crack!

I know...it is kind of depressing...but question, any idea if and when you'll get some more gpu's in? Then if anyone else shows interest, would stocking the HAF X be a future possibility? We have to have some people here who game, or do some overclocking work unrelated to bitcoin, and if so, the HAF X is an amazing case...heck any of the HAF series cases are great...just a thought...*Looks at his HAF X*...yea...I'm a little biased...

Tongue
That post made meh night!

Yeah I'll check into these HAF X....
*Xenland searches through supplier products lists.....

Looks like I have these 2 (For some reason these are super expensive and have high shipping costs....)

The cost of this is $188.27
+Shipping cost(Flat Rate inside of USA): $150.00
http://computers.pricegrabber.com/cases/Cooler-Master-HAF-RC942KKN1-Black-Steel-Plastic/m792014722.html

I also have this one
The cost of this is $181.51
+Shipping cost(Flat Rate inside of USA): $150.00
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=HAF+X&oe=utf-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=8798012959753501500&sa=X&ei=89OLTpfYLc6ksQK9-Pm7BA&ved=0CDIQ8gIwAw

I wonder why shipping prices are soo expensive from my supplier, Maybe just shipping insurance? I wonder if the shipping prices are like these everywhere else?

On another note here is a page with multiple images to show off the photo gallery just click on the product image to see a variety of photos in a slide show format
http://cheaperinbitcoins.com/product.php?id=2584

Wow...that's insane shipping...even with insurance, it shouldn't be near that much...oh well, at least the option has been explored. But I do like the new look of the site, much cleaner.

Got an email back about the insane shipping prices this was their response....

Quote from: charles
Shipping cost is based on weight, size and means by which the supplier would ship their products. If shipping by freight... general freight cost $100+.
