< In shock ... I need a strong coffee.

I hope this comes to a happy ending!

Come on guys and girls... WE CAN DO IT!

Unfortunately, it's closed source.  So, we can't.

Apparently, it's all up to BCNxt's ideology.
1842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 12, 2013, 10:11:00 AM
cannot deliver colored coins and looking for an exit.

Hehe, wanna bet for any amount up to 300 BTC on that?

So, do we just keep restarting NXT in order to collect everyones BTC over and over again?

I've got a private message from one of the stakeholders who asked to remove my post about bad news. Sorry, guys, BCNext asked me to post this and it will stay there.

I see 2 scenarios there:
- Stakeholders will start doing anything and Nxt will grow
- Stakeholders will sell their coins to those who do something and Nxt will grow

Both scenarios look good to me.

Umm.... free market?

BCNxt is obviously either mental or cannot deliver colored coins and looking for an exit.

The latter is what I suspect is going on.  Booo!
Truth is anything is possible but you forget CfB has looked at the code and actually CC was already ready before he modified the code for the networking.

And I trust CfB - on the other hand you seem to be just an evil troll hehe Cheesy

I believe what I can see.  And right now, what I see is very irresponsible.

How is progress going with the colored coins, decentralised MtGox, implementation?

1848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trading Thread for Nxt :: Descendant of Bitcoin on: December 06, 2013, 09:40:16 PM
How much NXT can I get for 0.2 BTC?

Now you can easily switсh beetween nxtalk.org and this topic using quick link in header. I'm absolutely sure that we should use bitcointalk.org as much as possible and not trying to create ghettos. Meanwhile, this website might store more structured information. I'll do my best to provide maximum for community members. Don't hesitate to participate - we are open, flexible and reasonable.

Problem is NXT are already worth too much. The top holders with 50 million are sitting on a theoretical 650 BTC according to dgex latest rate of 0.000013 BTC/NXT. Obviously the liquidity isn't there to actually get it, but still it will probably will make some of them balk at giving theirs away for free, even though its in their best interest to do so.

I support your opinion. It may be a time bomb.

The free market will prevail and the coins will get sold on and redistributed.

W.r.t. the 300 days to mining a block.  It's hardly any different than bitcoin.  The only issue is that some top players need to spread out some of the wealth among newcomers.
1850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 05, 2013, 03:01:48 PM
Can someone please confirm, what is the minimum base target?
1851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trading Thread for Nxt :: Descendant of Bitcoin on: December 05, 2013, 12:37:03 PM
Looking for 0.2 BTC of NXT.  PM offers please.
1852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 05, 2013, 10:42:59 AM
Now the client gets stuck (no new blocks etc.) and I get a java.lang.NullPointerException at start. Also, the webpage title is "NRS", not "NXT". Is this right? Or is this a fake client (I downloaded it from the link at http://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,4.0.html) ? I didn't unlock my account as it seems strange.

I thought my client was stuck too, but when I've logged out and back in, the block count increased.

I really suggest pass tests on all platforms before releasing a new version. Now the value of Nxt increases more than 10x, it is no longer proper to release apparently buggy software handling large number of money.

Agreed.  The developers really need some help, but aren't accepting any.

Question:

Coins can do mining after 1440 confirmations?  So when you get coins are moved around, do they have settle for 1440 confirmations before they count in POS mining?

This is what NXT BCE says

[1] Coins can do mining after 1.440 confirmation. Nxt-bce will show this value as reference. Stakeholder accounts are confirmed from genesis.

Can someone please clarify.

Thanks.

Yes coins need 1440 confirms to start mining fees, after each transaction.
Genesis adresses could mine at the start, otherwise the network would be stuck at block 1 Wink
Put it this way, after block 1 all coins need 1440 confirms to be able to mine.

Thanks.

so whats everbodys estimations on price per nxt coin come january.  0.00010000 is my guess.

Well, QRK is at 0.0002 and it bring absolutely zero to the table.  So, using that as a comparison, NXT must be at 0.002 or 0.02.
1857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 04, 2013, 04:15:21 PM
There seems to be a lot of misconception about pure proof-of-stake.  In my view POW is brain-dead while POS is genius.

NXT was sitting on the forms waiting for investors for ages.  Now they claim premine.  Amazin'
1858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 04, 2013, 02:58:31 PM

max coin amount?

premine?
- its first of second generation coins. 100% PoS. 1 bil NXTs in existence. This is cap. No inflation at all. PoS "mining" ("forging") is from transaction fees only.

I think a portion, i.e., 100M NXT should be set aside for filling the mining gap.

All new users need incentive, and since they cannot easily mine, they need something else.

Why not take 100M NXT and write a script to randomly distribute the coins, say in 1000NXT chunks to randomly selected accounts from the Block Explorer.  Favor should be given to accounts with low balances, i.e., less than 5M.

This will help incentivise to new users and late comers to start using NXT, while only using 100M of the NXT in existence.

600,000 NXT left

How much?

He wants to be part of the dev team!

BCNext let me to get the whole code only coz that was a critical situation. He is planning to wait for the 3rd of January.

I think all the secrecy is slowing things down.

I understand the strategic need to keep the code that advances things (i.e., the decentralised exchange) closed initially.  And I 100% agree.  However there should be ways (*cough* git n' branches) to have the code without the decentralised exchange open source, so that it can be stabilised more rapidly.   Top-secret work is done on "secret" branch on BCNext's repo.  We make bug fixes to existing code on separate repo.  He then pulls/fix-up from us daily.

Everyone wins.  We stabilise core functionality by making judicious bug fixes, while he carries on with decentralised exchange implementation.  All of the bug fixes should be relatively small, controlled changes, so it should not be too hard for him to keep pulling in our fixes.
