What types of Rigs do you build?
1842  Economy / Speculation / Re: I just cashed out my lot of Bitcoins for Gold. Here's why. on: June 08, 2013, 09:30:41 PM
If Bitcoins and the internet were to collapse then Gold would be right there right it. Gold is shiny and all, but just as much perceived value as Bitcoin/money.
1843  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GPU Question on: June 08, 2013, 02:54:12 PM
It would be worth it if you can get your motherboard, chip and power supply cheap

Maybe 2-3 months if you're lucky

That's a great idea for a website. I bookmarked and have a few configurations that I might upload later. Thanks for putting this together!

I would not place a pre-order at this moment in time. The end of the internet may come and go before you'd ever receive your Jalepeno.

ASICS are changing the Game, but at least it's taking off. Soon Bitcoins will be worth 100,000 dollars a piece and we will all be laughing.. Laughing all day and night.

If humans had anything of that nature you can bet time would be torn almost immediately after its construction.

I just wanted to leave a comment and let SWC know that I have had zero problems using your browser-based software as well as the PC client on my linux computer running wine. I've had a lot of fun playing the past couple weeks and love all the website features. It can be hard running a website and keeping things compatible and you guys are doing a great job keeping up with the pace and making sure everything operates as smooth as possible. A+  Grin
1850  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who else thinks the 5 posts / 4 hours rule is nonsence? on: June 08, 2013, 12:19:15 AM
I can't believe so many people complain about that rule it's really not that big of a deal. Many forums you have to post like 25+ ORIGINAL and unique posts before getting full access. Plus, if you can't come up with 5 posts then why should you be allowed to post in the main forum any way?
1851  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: need to build my first miner. i pay paypal. on: June 07, 2013, 11:33:21 PM
You're going to need a motherboard and a basic AMD 64 bit chip as cheap as you can get because it won't matter much. Get 1-2 Gigs of ram at least. You'll also need some PCI riser cables most likely for both your GPUs. Also, a computer power switch to turn your computer on and off. That's about it I use a USB stick for boot drive, but you can get a Hard drive if you want.
1852  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [NR 1] Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: June 07, 2013, 08:51:54 PM
I think I found my new fav pool. I just wish I joined a couple hours sooner! LOL  Grin

TripleMining seems like a good middle ground between solo mining and pool mining and I look forward to sticking around for the long haul.

What's the other pool you're using?
1854  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: $ Help Me Build a Small Rig $ on: June 07, 2013, 05:38:51 PM
If you can get an old computer from a second hand store or cheap of craigslist that will be a good start. If it has a decent graphics card on this list then even better:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

I built a small budget GPU mining rig for under $200. The most expensive things are the Power Supply which needs to be at least 600w and even more for a dual setup. I am running a single GPU and my power supply was still over $60 but I got an energy efficient one.

I purchased my GPU off of craigslist for $80 and I can get around 300 MHash/sec. I also had to buy a USB stick for around $20, a hard drive will be more expensive. I used a motherboard and ram out of an old computer and if you purchase these will spend at least $100.

I already had some performance computer fans that cost around $20+ a piece.

All in all here are the parts I used:

Mother board with P4 3.2 Ghz chip: $0 from old comp
1 Gig DDR2 Ram: $0 from old comp
600w Power Supply: $60 from Frys
Computer Power Swich; $0 from old comp
Performance Fans: $20 a piece
16 Gig USB Stick: $20
HD Radeon 6870: $80 off Craigslist

Total: $180~

That's about what you're going to spend on a starter setup and it would be difficult to get it under $100. Even at 300 MHash/sec I'm only making about .01 BTC per day. At this point you might be better off BUYING 1 BTC and waiting till you have enough money for an ASIC.

1858  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Connecting to Bitcoin-QT on 2nd computer on: June 04, 2013, 04:21:52 AM
Ok I've got the bitcoin.conf setup on the first computer:

rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rcpallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.1.*
rpcport=9332
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

When I try to connect with CGMiner on the 2nd computer I get an invalid URL error using both:

http://192.168.1.0:9332 -u user -p pass AND http://localhost:9332 -u user -p pass

Any ideas? I'm not using any firewalls and I can connect to http://localhost:9332 in the browser of the 1st computer.
1859  Bitcoin / Mining support / Connecting to Bitcoin-QT on 2nd computer on: June 03, 2013, 06:14:03 PM
Hello I have Bitcoin-QT installed on one computer and was wondering if I can mine with CGminer on a 2nd computer connecting to the Blockchain on the 1st one. Is it as simple as using http://localhost and 8332 with the user/pass? Or do I have to connect through the IP?
