1841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese miners rejecting transactions from the US? on: November 23, 2016, 09:50:43 PM
This is so funny.  When I first came to this forum everyone was bragging how bitcoin transactions only took a couple of minutes and how slow Western Union and other like services were.  Now is a complete role reversal, everyone else is faster than Bitcoin.

I just sent my son money from California to North Carolina for an emergency. I went to a Walmart and he was standing in a Walmart when I sent the money. It took 20 seconds for him to be holding my cash.

Dakota Pipeline: Protesters Soaked With Water in Freezing Temperatures

Tear gas, freezing cold water and rubber bullets were used to disperse a crowd of 400 protesters at the Dakota Access Pipeline in clashes late Sunday and early Monday that left more than 150 activists and one law enforcement officer injured.

Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Dave Archambault II told NBC News that between 200-300 people were transported late Sunday night to a gymnasium on the Standing Rock Sioux reservation for treatment for hypothermia, facial and hand wounds, and other minor injuries. Approximately seven people with more serious injuries — including two elders who were tear gassed and who suffered near cardiac arrest — were sent to a hospital in Bismarck for emergency treatment, said Archambault.

He said the tribe was reaching out to the White House Monday with a request that the Obama administration intervene "due to the threat to public safety at Standing Rock."

"From the beginning, we've had water protectors attacked by guard dogs, rubber bullets and mace. Last night, law enforcement upped the ante by using exploding tear gas canisters and water cannons in sub-freezing temperatures," said Archambault. "There's no telling what law enforcement will do next."

For those not aware of the issue, read: http://www.vox.com/2016/9/9/12862958/dakota-access-pipeline-fight

President Obama is refusing to help. Native Americans and sympathetic protesters are being injured by law enforcement armed with military grade assault weapons, armored clothing, helmets, assault rifles and riot water cannons.

Do you believe the U.S. Government is incapable of protecting its citizens from harm in this case due to bias over the desire to complete the pipeline? Is that bias placing its citizens at deadly risk? Do you agree with the governments stance and actions toward the protesters? Should the United Nations send independent inspectors and arbiters to investigate and attempt to assist with protecting the safety of those involved?
1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin was made illegal by your government would you still use it? on: November 23, 2016, 02:59:53 PM
I live in a democratic country and it is difficult to imagine that my government would follow a particularly tough policy toward bitcoins. On the other hand if she had serious proofs, is that possible any?  that bitcoins use is harmful for the country and its people then I would think it again but it's my decision. So, because I believe that crypto-currencies change the world I would continue to support the development and existence of it.

Here's what a "democratic" country can do. This is happening right now, as we speak.

Linda Black Elk, a member of the Standing Rock Medic and Healer Council of the Catawba tribe, said she treated protesters for injuries and hypothermia and they were soaked by water in temperatures as low as 23 degrees. Avoid U.S. businesses at all costs. If you're from the U.S., then realize what your government is doing to you, realize you are not free, and realize change.

What horrible music. Not what they were saying because I don't speak Spanish, but the music itself. I haven't heard anything that bad since the 1980s. I got stoned at small Pantera concert in 1981 and projectile vomited on the band. Everyone there said it was the best part of the show. I'd rather have disco back than thrash metal. With shit thrash metal as the background score and spanish lyrics I seriously doubt they're reaching their intended audience.

I'm from San Francisco (homosexualitys mother ship - LOL)

Ahhh... San Francisco, the birthplace of AIDS...

Already the taxpayers are spending a fortune to treat these homosexuals for their dozens of illnesses. The cost of treating a single HIV patient comes to $379,000 (according to Healthline). Imagine how much tax money it takes to treat 1 million+ HIV positive gays in the United States. I think it is bigger than the American federal defense budget.

Yeah, but they're happy because they don't have some bitch nagging them to death.

Actually Miami is number one on the HIV infection rate list. San Francisco is number 21.

1852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin help poor countries? on: November 20, 2016, 04:22:27 AM
We should also teach all of the homeless people worldwide to use Bitcoin. That way they know what all the rich people in wealthy countries do for fun. ROFL
what i have learned in this thread so far is, that they have no way of understanding it, since they all are most likely uneducated, because that is what i imagine homeless people are. o and they are to poor anyways to own a a device or something.

I was being facetious. Who cares if homeless people or poor people use Bitcoin. They don't have any money. That's why they are poor and homeless.

so far coinbase has been fighting it to the death because if they don't it is going to be the end of them.

nobody is going to use coinbase if they report to IRS. coinbase is a bad service as it is, if it gets any worse it is going to be bye bye Coinbase forever.

All their business might not evaporate. I have to believe there are at least a few law abiding citizens using Bitcoin.
1854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to explain bitcoin to teenagers or children on: November 19, 2016, 06:04:08 PM
Just the other day I was having a discussion with my 12 year old about the amortization schedule for his new bike. He wrongly believed that it wasn't compounded and worked on simple annuity. He claimed it was customary to use the straight line method. I had to remind him that he signed a declining balance contract with a balloon payment.

Why in the fuck are you people trying to discuss Bitcoin with kids. The only thing my kids wanted to do from the age of 14 to about 20 is get high and fuck. If I tried to talk about something like Bitcoin with them this is what I would see.

I can imagine what the eyes of the children will look to their parents when they tell them God knows what. Why drive a child to mind something that he did not need to.

Yep, they're not going to get it or care anyway. I had two sons get girls pregnant in high school. One was arrested for possession of weed. The other one arrested for DUI while running away with his pregnant girlfriend. My daughter was never pregnant because her mother put her on birth control when she was 14. All three of them worked but were always broke because they had the money management skills of a chimpanzee (when you talk about money with them they would stare off in space and pick their ass).

Teaching a kid about Bitcoin that doesn't care is like trying to teach a dog not to lick his balls. They never will get it because they don't want to. And a kid that wants to know about Bitcoin will be able to teach you and probably hack your computer and steal your bitcoins.

India is Paying $900+ for Bitcoin Amid Cash Crisis

https://news.bitcoin.com/india-paying-900-bitcoin-cash-crisis/

What do you think about this?

I have 2 questions for this. How and where are they buying the $900 per Bitcoin from? Who is scamming them into buying Bitcoin for that high of a price?

I believe some people over at India are taking advantage of the people's desperate situation and their ignorance. This is not good news to me because it really does not bring anything to Bitcoin except for another case of people scamming other people story.

I think you were right and this issue should be cleared. I mean, i find this news sort of a speculation unless we can see exchanges having that price. It it happen in personal transaction, then @Wind_FURY, you are correct sir,  another case of people scamming other people.

That's not a very entrepreneurial perspective. What we need to do is figure out how to arbitrage the shit out of this situation before it dries up.

There is just one wealthy individual needed to get the price there to come back to much more realistic levels. If a whole bunch of people knew how to do this, then the price there wouldn't be anywhere near the current levels. But if the exchange in question spots a huge load of incoming coins, won't they use that bit of insider information in their advantage you think? Wink They surely will.

Yeah, huge profits using successful arbitrage is rare but small ones are commonplace. Just ask a forex trader.

In one post after another for years I've told people never to use a US based exchange or Bitcoin business. Maybe now people will listen. There's only one option available to citizens of the totalitarian states of america for selling bitcoins - localbitcoins.

Almost everything you own and use for personal or investment purposes is a capital asset. Examples include a home, personal-use items like household furnishings, and stocks or bonds held as investments. When you sell a capital asset, the difference between the adjusted basis in the asset and the amount you realized from the sale is a capital gain or a capital loss. Generally, an asset's basis is its cost to the owner, but if you received the asset as a gift or inheritance, refer to Topic 703 for information about your basis. For information on calculating adjusted basis, refer to Publication 551, Basis of Assets. You have a capital gain if you sell the asset for more than your adjusted basis. You have a capital loss if you sell the asset for less than your adjusted basis. Losses from the sale of personal-use property, such as your home or car, are not tax deductible. If you have a taxable capital gain, you may be required to make estimated tax payments. Refer to Publication 505, Tax Withholding and Estimated Tax for additional information.

If your capital losses exceed your capital gains, the amount of the excess loss that you can claim on line 13 of Form 1040 to lower your income is the lesser of $3,000, ($1,500 if you are married filing separately) or your total net loss shown on line 16 of the Form 1040, Schedule D (PDF), Capital Gains and Losses. If your net capital loss is more than this limit, you can carry the loss forward to later years. You may use the Capital Loss Carryover Worksheet found in Publication 550, Investment Income and Expenses, or in the Form 1040, Schedule D Instructions (PDF), to figure the amount you can carry forward. Taxpayers with significant investment income may be subject to the Net Investment Income Tax (NIIT). For additional information on the NIIT, see Topic 559.

We're never going to stop people from buying the things we don't think they should have unless we can see what they're buying using a one world currency. Now don't you hurt your pretty little head by worrying about things you don't control. Just keep preaching the glory of Bitcoin and go to sleep. Daddy's friends over at the club have this all figured out for you. I put a couple of pictures of the club below so you know everything is ok.
