18401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 10, 2016, 07:17:08 PM
How about a little TA on this 'speculation' thread?

Good support has turned up for the 0.01 level - and buy side on Polo is at above normal and exceeds sell side comfortably, implying a reluctance for hodlers to sell.

This is bullish - especially when BTC has broken the 750 level.  Anyone looking back would say (normally) a dip to under 0.01 was to be expected, but the support is surprisingly good.

So - TA gurus - pipe up, what do you see in your crystal balls? December lows are historically the norm, as is an inverse relationship to BTC price too.

Are we in a new paradigm?

The support is also natural for the lifespan of renewed interest (Monero is almost like a new coin for holders who bought or mined in the last few months) so add that to the unsurprising December slump and corresponding drop to bitcoin's rise and you have pretty much a textbook response for XMR.

Now if we think the textbook is still accurate, then we see Q1 2017 for a renewed climb to 0.02 but only if it can breach significant walls in between.
18402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: ⭕️[FREE] Monero Brass Coin Giveaway on: December 10, 2016, 07:09:49 PM
Hey smoothie / OP,

Just want to say I'd almost forgotten about this as I think I sent the e-mail 6 weeks or so ago. Just want to inform that I received the brass coin in good shape and it was a very nice surprise (DIY is cool too!).

Thanks once more, really appreciate the time and effort to promote Monero!
18403  Other / Off-topic / Re: Average Age of Bitcoin users on: December 10, 2016, 05:41:15 PM
I suspect you're more interested in the median age of bitcoin users (or at least I would be) and from my own interaction with users, they do seem to range quite greatly from just below 20 to over 40. A simple average age could take the figure to around 30, but I think the highest frequency is in the late 20s to early 30s.

As to who might be the ones using it most to its potential, I can't say. What was/is Satoshi's age?
18404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: i bought 1000eth when 12$ .buy or sell now? what's the future? price is 6$ !! on: December 09, 2016, 09:04:10 AM
If you bought that much ETH you sound like you were waiting to make at least 100% profit, but surely much, much more. That means you were looking for a bit of a long-term investment.

You should be fully prepared for a 50% dip if that were the case. So I'd say you should hold on to it and ride the wave. Or take the hit now and learn your lesson.
18405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much $ per coin if..? on: December 09, 2016, 09:00:52 AM
Perhaps someone in the ICO business has convinced a bank to help fund a massive pump and dump scheme. Why would a $10billion investment into a coin make any economic sense otherwise?

If anyone from banking is truly interested, investment in blockchain tech or simple widening access and adoption would help much more.
18406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on Supercomputers on: December 09, 2016, 08:56:53 AM
What John Doe is suggesting is unquestionably unethical - supercomputers and a top 500 one at that are built for very specific purposes and all its CPU resources would already be put to full use. Any external use, such as CPU mining as suggested, would clearly be a conflict of interest.

It's just a roundabout way of saying John Doe would like to steal resources to get some coin.
18407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] +++ HUB: +++ on: December 09, 2016, 05:59:42 AM
Questions from newbie to newbie, since this project idea seems to want to avoid the outcomes of most altcoins:

1. Less important: what existing crypto problems does this project want to solve?
2. More  important: what existing crypto needs does it have?

I know the price tethering seems to be the mainstay to maintain if not steer its price but this seems to then artificially keep the value of the coin/token.
18408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: c-cex gone on: December 09, 2016, 05:55:06 AM
Not sure what you guys are on about, tried accessing at the time of your posts and also right now: 4 times staggered out over the past 20 hours and all looks fine from my side in Asia.

It does seem a tad slower than usual but then again the Internet has been like that for me in general!
18409  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Request for comments: Developing guide for very high-security bitcoin storage on: December 09, 2016, 05:52:02 AM
I was referring to power analysis attack.
The easiest way to eliminate power analysis is by using a capacitor and a resistor inside the wallet:

(1) Connect capacitor to USB to charge.
(2) Disconnect capacitor from USB.
(3) Connect capacitor to chip for some amount of computation.
(4) Disconnect capacitor from chip before it can possibly run out.
(5) Connect capacitor to resistor to drain all excess energy.
(6) Disconnect capacitor from resistor and loop back to step (1).

This prevents the computer from monitoring power use.

Good starting point to foil power analysis attacks but couldn't it be designed in such a way that it is built-in or automated, part of security trigger?

I think we must remember that this guide is designed for newbies - any recommendation must put this consideration at foremost thought.
18410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has no competition on: December 09, 2016, 05:46:44 AM
It's difficult to really say if bitcoin has competition as no altcoin has really made it a point to compete with or against bitcoin.

If anything, fiat is bitcoin's competition... or rather bitcoin was made as an alternative, and therefore competition for accepted use as opposed to regular accepted fiat.

Alts just strengthen each other by research and knowledge.
18411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Altcoin hack of 2016 on: December 08, 2016, 08:43:11 AM
*yawn* really, people? All the scare and now this whale hack, and I don't see ETH jumping off the cliff yet.

Why are so many so keen on seeing an otherwise technologically advanced Alt get buried for good?
18412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why did Ethereum suffer from DoS but Bitcoin not? on: December 08, 2016, 02:31:28 AM
In theory and quite doably in practice any cryptocurrency network is hackable - it really is up to the hacker to commit to the cost and as mentioned above the mispricing of ETH had made it the easier (cheaper) option.

18413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bo Shen hacked? ETH, REP sold on poloniex? on: December 08, 2016, 02:13:16 AM
Either graph doesn't really seem to show ETH crashing. If anything the dump seems to have pushed the price a little higher than the average in timeframe shown.

So, true or not, the hack and dump hasn't had the expected effect. Maybe the desired one though? wink nudge
18414  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How and where do I store my bitcoins? on: December 07, 2016, 01:41:54 PM
Use Electrum wallet for as your hot wallet that you can use to pay for your daily expenses. I would suggest purchasing raspberry pi and use Electrum offline from there with your desktop wallet being the wallet that broadcasts and make raw unsigned transactions.

It would save you a lot more money than purchasing hardware wallets and it can be secure enough.

Yeah I like Electrum as well as it's very lightweight and a fantastic option for fuss free hot wallets. If you're a passive trader as well with no real need for time sensitive transactions the manual fee option is also great.

I've saved about 5% in fees using low priority transacts on my Electrum.
18415  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: unlicensed money transmission on: December 07, 2016, 01:38:18 PM
It's highly unlikely that you are doing anything illegal. If you want certainty check with your local revenue bureau - my feeling is that they will be able to clear you with simple declarations especially if you're conducting personal and not business transactions.
18416  Economy / Economics / Re: How much money do you have left from your job? on: December 07, 2016, 01:34:30 PM
Yes i need a lot of money to buy the things i want but if i have that permanent job, well even there is one person give me the chance to have much money, i will never left my permanent job. Why? because not all people given the chance to have stable job and we all know that todays generation is very hard to find a job that is permanent. Being have a lot of money is very easy to achieve if you only have the hard work and goals in life.

I have been searching for a stable job with increasing urgency as I get older... And I realise now it is almost impossible to get one unless I am willing to start at the same level as people 15 years younger.

True, a lot of experience gained but I envy the sense of security and stability my peers have, especially those in civil service.
18417  Economy / Economics / Re: Global Conflagration on: December 07, 2016, 01:29:56 PM
Global Conflagration is not really a problem at todays world. Even if there is a global financial crisis, the local markets will still continue to operate. In history, there are many times where a country has suffered poverty and hungers or even victims of invasion but the aftereffects is the end of one economy will bring good results to other economy. With this if fiat currency will fall, cryptocurrency will possibly replace but if all will fall including internet then lets go back to gold as primary legal tender.

In fact, with the world so reliant on digita technology it makes tech and currency like bitcoin extra sensitive to that kind of metldown scenario.

Gold is impervious to such extremes and that is why bitcoin cannot yet stand up to gold as financial fallback.

Alibaba’s Jack Ma: “Everyone Should Have a Bank Account.”

https://news.bitcoin.com/techfin-alibabas-jack-ma-bank-account/

What do you think about this?

I will agree with Jack Ma's statement about having a bank account. We should not see it as fiat vs crypto because it has a much broader sense of financial inclusion.

In India, about 1 year ago, prime minister Narendra Modi introduced a scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Accounts with Zero Balance' - Translation : Prime Minister Public Money Scheme.  There is a large number of people who are far away from financial literacy and thus they are not able to contribute to economic growth directly with their money.

Bank is a traditional way to learn about the structure of finance. You don't need much technology to use banking service. It is the step after cash economy and then next is crypto.

Personally, I want people to learn about crypto technology but not at the cost of being unaware of traditional financial infrastructure. One should not skip bank to learn about crypto, there must be a step by step transformation.

Absolutely correct. Financial literacy is still very low where it is needed the most. My grandmother STILL keeps cash in a secret stash (which is not so secret) as she has never trusted banks since she lost money in the 2nd World War.

Malaysia is also encouraging kids and students to already start owning debit cards (given free of charge) simply to introduce the idea of online payments.

I think those sites online that promote bitcoin (they ask you to open a new wallet, and they send you free satoshi) are also great.
18419  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are Venezuelan not switching to Bitcoin? on: December 06, 2016, 04:09:05 PM
Yeah... extremely naive to ask an entire population to just adopt bitcoin. Even if it were possible to do so, the outlay in tech investment and infrastructure (not even talking about internet yet, just phone lines and electricity) would dump the country in immediate and extreme debt.

Probably need to focus on the blockchain first and make it ready for mass adoption.
18420  Economy / Services / Re: Earn $1000s PLUS a month on FOREX $150 a month for forex signals on: December 06, 2016, 04:05:54 PM
OP, if we sign up for your programme is it possible to only make the trades following your exact signals and then leave the trades to trigger on original SL or TP?

I understand how emotions play a huge part so figure that better to just place the orders and not watch.

If your signals are designed for such, then this makes it a huge plus point. By the way i have been saving bitcoin and have half the fee you need already. I just meed another 75$ and then make another 150$ to start a broker account. 3 months away at least haha...
As ive see on this thread op does really gives TP and SL but there are really times that he give signals on entering again a specific price which could able for you to maximize profits on a particular day thats why its not really advisable to sleep and must observe and wait for OP signals because as far as i can see on this thread some members do really gain profits and same as you im saving up money to be included on his group.

Thanks for your feedback Oilacris, much appreciated.

So to confirm, if I can only follow original TP and SL orders, it is safe enough, but to maximise profit I should be available to make live orders in real time, correct?

I hope to see you together in the group in 3 months!
