Does anyone know the laws in regards to used miners? Do you pay based off of what you paid for the miner or is it a set fee per miner [same price as if it was new]?

good luck with that answer.

but whatever you do don't ask the USA government that question.

The 2 acorn  is better  for some boards

the 4 acorn is better for others.

[...]

I would complain  that  the real problem  done with the entire acorn project  was that  they did not build a few dozen  acorns  and give demos of their uses

I did not know whether to buy a 2 acorn nest or a 4 acorn nest.

agreed. the difference was initially not readily available or at least i didnt look hard enough when i ordered a 2x nest (the only nest available at that time) along with two 215+.

i have the onda b8p (think thats the model, 8 physical 16x slots). the 1st slot can do 16x electrical, the others are 1x electrical. when i ordered only the 2x nest was available. but if it only connects to cards via usb riser the whole point of my onda board (which is to go riserless) is useless.

so i just now ordered a 4x nest which will keep my onda rig riserless if it communicates via pcie. thats IF it fits into the first slot without blocking the ATX power connector, the onda needs a fairly short card in that 1st slot.

so. depending in the length i may need to put the 4x nest on a 16x riser to clear the ATX connector.

heh. well one way or another i will eventually use both nests as i have my old mining board (gigabyte z170) which was going to run the bcu1525 alone, it may now run the bcu along with a couple vga cards.

I really like that I will let someone else test it out.

yeah im gonna be one of those guys.

I will buy the 2 nest with 2 acorn 215+  if you don't want it.  Assuming it works and runs okay.
18503  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [CLOSED] FutureBit Apollo LTC Official Order Thread on: October 28, 2018, 05:53:33 PM
Hey guys quick update for all Apollo Batch 1 Pre-orders. Final design is complete and we have all major components ordered/in production currently. ASICs are also in hand and PCB production should start next week.

Unfortunately we got screwed over with Trump China Tarriffs and had to switch out some non critical suppliers which is going to cause a 1-2 week delay from the original end of October start shipment date. We are probably looking first week of November to get the first orders out and all shipments should be done by Mid-Nov.

Is this still the schedule?

building Nov 1 to Nov 14

shipping after Nov 15

Or have there been more changes?
18504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: October 28, 2018, 05:49:01 PM
why does the nest2 have 4 USB ports and the nest4 does not?

http://squirrelsresearch.com/acorn-nest-x2g/

AcornNest X2G allows you to host two Acorn units in any PCIe 2.0 or greater x8 or x16 slot and provides four USB PCIe riser connections for accelerated GPUs without any special motherboard requirements.
versus

http://squirrelsresearch.com/acorn-nest-x4/

AcornNest X4 allows you to host four Acorn units in a PCIe 2.0/3.0 x16 or PCIe 3.0 x8 slot without any special motherboard requirements.

It includes an onboard DMA engine to reduce CPU load, as well as advanced Acorn power utilization and performance monitoring.

That doesn’t answer the question of WHY. It says that the 2x has USB ports. And doesn’t say anything about the 4x lacking them. Why does one have it and the other does not? What was the reason for not including them on the 4x? Why are they necessary at all?

The 2 acorn  is better  for some boards

the 4 acorn is better for others.

If you have this board

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157801&cm_re=taichi_x399-_-13-157-801-_-Product

it has 3 slots  so it can not do a lot of gpus only 3

add 2  of  2x nests  you can then do 8 gpus

If you have this board

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138449&cm_re=biostar_b250-_-13-138-449-_-Product

it has  slots  so put the 4 acorn  nest in  and it will work on boosting all the 1x slots.

so the nests work better with different board styles.

makes sense to me.

I would complain  that  the real problem  done with the entire acorn project  was that  they did not build a few dozen  acorns  and give demos of their uses

I did not know whether to buy a 2 acorn nest or a 4 acorn nest.

I purchased a 2 acorn nest and a pair of acorns  to use in this board

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157785&cm_re=taichi_x399-_-13-157-785-_-Product

my board can run 5 cards  right now.

but If I pull a card and add the 2 acorn nest I could do 8   cards    So I did buy the correct one for my board.

I got bad vibes  with the company's way of demoing the gear.  I took a refund.

I will  now wait for someone else to show a 2 acorn nest running on a x399 taichi  if it seems okay I will try to get some.

I have been doing this game since 2011  well really 2012  and I am tired of the slow roll outs.

I like that they built this.
I like that it may be nice.
I really like that I will let someone else test it out.

Weird the 25TH @ 2050w Inno looks more efficient than than 20TH @ 1800w Avalon, imo. Then I don't have either.

my inno does 19.5  at 1700 watts   on eff setting  costs a lot more then the avalon  which does 20 th at 1800 watts

when set to full speed the inno does 25th but uses 2450 watts  plus it has pool restrictions due to Asic boost
18508  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 251 blocks solved! on: October 27, 2018, 11:46:18 PM
Thanks CK I kind of guessed that would be the answer.
Last time I buy bitmain products that for sure.
Gotta be realistic - cost/power/performance ratios are everything in mining; if shitmain give you the best, there is still a reason to buy them. Having said that, they've had nothing new in 2 years and what looks like 2 failed attempts to fabricate their next gen hardware so things aren't looking in their favour any more...

to be fair

avalon made a next gen that fares poorly.  the 921

innosilicon makes the t2turbo 25+  it is okay but not as good as the A921.

the best unit I have tested is the whatsminer m10  it does 2300 watts and 34th  I have two pointed to pool.ckpool along with an innosilicon t2turbo

photos from discord

So did SQRL completely fail or what?

No

1) paid most or all refunds ask for
2) some fpga's have been shipped
3) acorns and acorn nest should ship before fri 2nd

But all in all still somewhat of a mess.

Bailing on bitcointalk hurt them as discord sucks  for how to threads and demos reviews etc.

I still look at discord thread to see what the gear will do.

and even with photos of the gear mounted in pc's I have no idea what it does in terms of hash or power costs.
I have ordered this below.

cost about 800 usd should boost 4 gpus. note the four usb ports.

So my threadripper 1920x on a taichi x399  could load 4 of these and do 16 cards  but no performance numbers as of today
 all info is off discord:

It's an Nest X2G. I clicked on the link and zoomed in, and you can clearly see the USB ports on the left side of the image.

When I get my Nest X4 and CLE215+ FPGAs I will post some pics of the build and some screen-shots of the miner in action. My plan is combine the Nest+FPGAs with my two hydro 1080TIs (Thanks Phil!) to mine altcoins.

I wish it had not been such a fuckup getting these.

I have a threadripper 1920x on a Taichi x399 board.

I think I could do at least 2 maybe 3 nests with acorn 215+  and 1080ti's

https://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2018/10/27/heavy-police-presence-near-synagogue-in-squirrel-hill/

Anyone want to guess at the religion or political affiliation of the shooter?

I'm going to guess he was a Republican and a Christian... seems like an easy bet

Why trumps daughter is married to a Jewish guy.

So should not trump supporters like Jewish people?

Being a supporter of any politician isn't necessarily an all or nothing, lots of folks like Trump but don't like EVERYTHING he says or does.

Life is rarely black or white but more often a scale of some shade of grey...

As I suspected he was anti trump and did not like trump because trump has deals with Jews.

He was also not a left wing guy.

Nope he was your basic nut job with the mind to kill.

And armed with an automatic weapon due to nra’s policy of give everyone a gun it their right to bear arms.

Btw I do have 2 12 gauge shotguns so I am not anti gun.

I am anti assault weapon.

18515  Other / Off-topic / Re: How can I quit smoking? on: October 27, 2018, 03:19:50 PM
The pain of nicotine withdrawal is real.

But it is not that bad a pain.

For most of us that quit we realized this.

When it occurred to me 23 years ago that if I hit my fingernail while using a hammer it hurts a lot more then the pain of nicotine withdrawal I realize I could quit.

My old reaction to nicotine withdrawal was I will just die if I don’t have a smoke.

My new reaction to nicotine withdrawal was how does this feel well it hurts less then whacking my thumbnail with a hammer.  When I would hit my self building a deck I would look at my finger nail and say it looks okay it will go black under the nail and then get better..

Once I realized I could talk the pain down for smoking just like I could do with a smacked finger nail it was easy to quit.

Some shipping of some gear has happened.

But no one has an acorn in hand to demo it mining as of today.

I think by Halloween we will get some acorn field testing shown to.

the flaw is you think pos whales will cooperate.  people do not always do that  for instance  I asked you to retract a statement you made in this thread  which is a personal insult.  you choose to ignore my request.

The personal insult was removed as soon as I saw you used the word please,
if you bother to read the 1st page , you can see it was removed.

You however left your insult of PoS.

[/color] …

it is on an old horse pasture with zero trees killed off.

It has been fully paid off due to last years coin runup

we use zero batteries
we are grid tied -- we sell  excess power in the day and buy back power at night
Contrary to your ignorant statement our actions lower the prices of power for our neighbors.

We sell power at 4 cents and buy power at 15 cents  that 11 cents is profit for the power company so we help to  lower the power companies cost of production of power which in turn lowers the customers power cost.

Being fully green means you are not dependent on the Grid at all.

There is no such thing as fully green

You are doing nothing more than offsetting your energy cost, which is what any business would do.

That offset helps lower prices for NJ grid power users.

Good Luck you're going to need it.

I won’t need luck the solar array has been paid for.  It has 20-25 years of power life left to it.

So in my case pow allowed me and buysolar to build and pay for the array in under five years.

If it was only used for buysolar s home he would have about 21  kwatts of extra power 24/7/365 on average so
 500 kwatts a day
15000 kwatts a month
180000 kwatts a year.

At four cent sell back that is 7200 a year .

So we did well with pow. Now down the road will pow thrive?

Or will pos thrive?

Your position is pos

Mine is pow-pos hybrid.

To be clear about pos = piece of s...

You can not insult POS. It is an idea not a person so it can not be insulted.

I don’t insult you for believing in POS I think you are mistaken to believe in the idea.

I do appreciate that you removed the insult directed at me.

I would love to see POS work I just don’t see how it will.
I don’t see regulation protecting pos coin holders.

I lost my interest on my ppc stake after I sold the coins before I got the interest.
I spent more then three days asking and talking to them about my stake issue and they did not have answers for me.

These are the people that developed the coin and basically they did not offer a solution to me.
So frankly I was disgusted with them.

Now BCI as a hybrid has clearly defined plan to pay interest.

They reward 10 coins to miners and hold 3 for stakers. from each block.
I get paid my interest weekly and I like the system.
