1861  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Blockchain - Transaction rejected Max number in single transaction on: April 15, 2016, 04:43:37 PM
I found it on my node, cant post the raw TX though because the board says:

Quote
The message exceeds the maximum allowed length (64000 characters).

Its a 177kbyte TX.

I put it here -> http://pastebin.com/VDTvHkXq

If you paid a good fee, it will get confirmed.

Here is the decoded version if anyone wants to check on the fees -> http://pastebin.com/APi8Nz9Y

1863  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: help with default_wallet on: April 15, 2016, 04:21:36 PM
I just downloaded the latest version of Electrum (2.6.4) and without thinking, sent coins to an address on the default_wallet.  I've never used Electrum before but from my understanding, it's supposed to set you up with a wallet - password and seed - when you install it, right?  That never happened for the default_wallet, and now I have coins on it that I can't send because it requires a password that I never had the chance to set up.  What do I do?

Remember the password. Electrum does not automatically generate a password protected wallet for you, it asks you for these information. What you describe happens when you had a previous installment of electrum and did not remove the wallet files (they dont get deleted automatically on uninstall).
1864  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any issues running a mac os in VMWARE? on: April 15, 2016, 04:18:51 PM
The biggest problem AFAIK is getting a clean ISO file to install the OS. Apple has no official source and newer MacBooks no longer come with a CD.

they used to be available on the pirate bay, but since i'm @ work, i cannot check it out right now.

I know, but Im looking for a clean copy. Since I cant verify the download from there Id rather not use. I still have some leads to follow though. Smiley

I already have a copy, but just wondering what types of issues might arise? I mean I could skip VMWARE and install directly on the hardware too.

Running in VMs are known for causing issues depending on what you are doing exactly -- and I can't baby sit him if one tiny problem comes up.

Maybe I'll just let this Mac kid get his Mac.  Roll Eyes

AFAIK there are no problems with VMWare and Mac per se. If you have a copy you could just test it. Im not sure how much the free version is capable off though. In my personal experience the workstation versions by VMWare have issues with GPU computing as they cant directly access the hardware. That might result in issues with rending, but its not really my area and there are plenty of other hypervisors.

[1] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1434572.0

1868  Economy / Reputation / Re: cryptodevil has left negative trust on a bought account on: April 15, 2016, 05:55:49 AM
-snip-
Someone who wishes to leave negative trust today for someone who scammed someone two months ago should check the security log for any password changes between when the scam occurred and today. If the password changed in the relevant timeframe then someone wishing to leave negative trust needs to consider if these password changes reasonably resemble the ownership of the account changing hands. If the password has changed between when the scam occurred and today then ownership of the account changing can be refuted with blockchain evidence (and/or other evidence to otherwise prove that the person before the password changed is the same person as after the password changed).

In the same example as above, if someone scammed two months ago and I leave negative trust today, if the password were to change in a week I would not consider to remove my negative rating just because there is evidence that ownership changed hands after the account was marked as a scammer.

#1 use PayPal for a deal
#2 wait 1-3 months
#3 fake account trade
#4 wait a little longer
#5 charge back
#6 "account was sold m'kay"
#7 profit

There is no perfect solution to this. I think you are just in on this because it gives you ammunition for your case against doog.
1869  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New to BTC, about to start buying and selling on LBC. Looking for some advice! on: April 14, 2016, 08:25:06 PM
Hey everyone,

My father and I have grown distant as his father (my grandfather) passed away about 2 months ago. My father and I are interested in selling BTC through LocalBitcoins in our city and surrounding cities.

I will be buying $500 worth of btc from a vendor using LBC near me in order to see how he works and will take some mental notes.  He is the only vendor in our surrounding cities and I would like to join in on selling.

Initially, I will purchase $500 USD worth of BTC; followed by $7,000 USD of BTC in order to start selling locally and online.

I've got a few questions I would greatly appreciate if someone of you folks could answer.

1.) Does anyone have any tips for local cash sales? Is a counterfeit/dollar bill counter necessary?

Meet in public places, dont get lured away, e.g. because "Oh, I have it right here in my car". Make sure you understand possible issues with confirmations and confirmation times. Counterfeit fiat can be a problem as well.

2.) Does anyone have any formulas they can send my way that would help with trying to profit from selling?

Depends on your area, some charge up to 20% in each direction. Whether or not that works I cant tell.

3.) Does anyone have any spreedsheet templates they can spare? I feel like you all are much more experienced and would like something to track my progress. Would a simple google docs spreadsheet/chart suffice?

4.) I've only bought personal ammounts of BTC through coinbase and Circle. Are there any other websites that offer a better price? How do I kow which price is correct? I get 2/3 different values of BTC's whenever I google them

There is no correct price, there are different markets that have people willing to sell for different prices. A nice overview can be found here -> https://bitcoinwisdom.com/

5.) I would greatly appreciate any other tips/formulas or guides to selling Locally or online in order to start the ball rolling.

Thank you all very much for everything,

I hope this isn't the wrong sub-thread.
1870  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Questions about electrum Seed on: April 14, 2016, 08:13:51 PM
Can any one guide me how to encrypt my electrum seed and store it safely on my hard drive?
I already wrote it down but as safely also want to store it securly on my online PC so please someone guide me if there's a way to encrypt it?

-> https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/

create a container, use a strong password, safe a txt file with the seed inside the container.
Ok i understand electrum seed is 128 bit that is  2^128 seeds can be there. Now this is such a big number and brute force is impossible to find working seed
Now i am curious to know how electrum generates seed randomly? Electrum doesn't record mouse movements to generate seed like bitaddress do to generate private key,so it's very much possible if by mistake it generates the same seed twice for 2 different users?Right?

Sure if your OS is broken electrum cant protect you.

-> https://bitcoinspakistan.com/blog/electrum-seed-explained/

You can use dice or something else if you want.

1871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how install bitcoind to hosting on: April 14, 2016, 08:04:13 PM
how can't install all 80gb bitcoin?
I hear that can you command and use last 2-4gb only
You can use the --prune=<n> option when you start bitcoind to prune the blockchain to reduce the storage requirement to a few GB.

ok. thanks.

how use api with php?

where I can get examples?

My two cents

Create a subtopic hidden inside offtopic/rumors forums.

Call the subtopic: Potential Scams and make it red, put it at the bottom of the page, just above the page numbers.

Put all the shit scams which are not games at all inside that subtopic.

If all the scams are there, everything else is safe, right?

I don't care what you think. couple of stars near your name doesn't mean that you are reputable. thats only anonymous forum account.
and as i said, same name user have tried to stole my money as well.
that's not an accusation, i am too lazy for that. or i could do that if this scammer would return my 0.1BTC i have payed for his account.
without being payed back i dont see a point wasting my time bringing a prove and disclosing my private data and blockchain info for no reason.

call it hot air. but don't tell me latter that i haven't warned you.

A warning I cant verify means nothing to me. You might as well be a troll for all you provided.
1876  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary one day? on: April 14, 2016, 01:41:51 PM
How long does it takes to become a legendary member?
-snip-

Well, the least activity required for legendary is 774. Which boils down to 56 activity periods of 14 points each (totaling 784 activity). If you register on the last day of an activity period you "safe" 13 days. If you bank a few posts you also get all 14 activity on the first day of the last period so you "safe" another 13 days. In total you need 758 days of consistant posting or 2 years and 28 days.

The highest activity required for legendary is 1030. Which is 74 activity periods of 14 points each (totalling 1036). Again you can "safe" as above so a total of 1010 days or 2 years and 280 days.

Does it mean in about 3 years, there will be over 500,000 legendary members if they all post and gain activity?

Who are "they"? The stats for "most online" have been disabled a while back, but I doubt there are half a million users posting daily.

From the adstats[1] there are roughly 15k unique users logged in per given period. Not sure how many of them post at least once a day, probably not all of them.

1879  Other / MultiBit / Re: I tried sending money using MultiBitHD - why are there two recipient addresses? on: April 14, 2016, 09:11:37 AM
I tried sending money using MultiBitHD - why are there two recipient addresses?

One is for the recipient of the coins you send, the other is your change address.

this is really stressing me out. I wanted money to go to one specific address, but when I click on payment details, two addresses show up, including the one I directed my money to!

Should I click 'undo transaction' before it's too late? Please advise me ASAP. Thanks

This is nothing to worry about, multibit HD discourages address reuse, which is perfectly fine for a wallet.

Bitcoin does not work with balances, but with whats called "inputs". If you have received a total of 1 BTC on an address, you can spend 1 BTC, but it matters how you received them. If you received 1 BTC in a single transaction you have 1 input worth 1 BTC (case A). IF you received the 1 BTC in 10 chunks of 0.1 BTC each, you have 10 inputs worth 0.1 BTC each (case B).

Lets assume you now want to spend 0.5 BTC (no fee for simplicity).

In case A you have a 1 BTC input, so you need to create two outputs (to be used later as inputs in another transaction). One worth 0.5 btc to the recipient and one 0.5 worth BTC back to yourself.

In case B you have 10 inputs worth 0.1 each, so you can just use 5 of them to create a single 0.5 BTC output. In this rare case there is no change. Usually however the inputs dont cleanly match the amount you want to send and thus there will be a change output. Multibit HD uses a new address whenever there is change. As its covered by the seed, the coins are still yours and you can spend them same as all other coins you received.
1880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 51% attack on premined altcoin on: April 14, 2016, 09:02:02 AM
Thank you for clarify me question.

Its always 51% of what makes the network secure, for proof of stake its 51% of the coins. This can be old coins, as well as premined coins unless there are defenses against that (e.g. hardcoded checkpoints). For proof of work its 51% of the computing power, for proof of X this is 51% of X.
