That just supports my statement. Your claim that it "destroys" society is clearly wrong, because the most well regulated countries are also the richest. Too many rules can create unnecessary obstacles, but the uncertainty a lack of laws creates is just as bad.

Anyway, I realize your ideology is your religion, so I'll stop wasting our time discussing this now.

I dont understand why you come to this community to just repeat talking points and insult people.
He is not being insulting, he is just stating the truth. We can't have a society with no rules because it just doesn't work and it's been proven time and time again. I put these threads up so that people can see that we really are a diverse community with varying opinions and we aren't just stuck to listening to one view and one ideology. Here is something that might fit your view, though I doubt you'll be invited Wink.

1862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Better Coin on: August 15, 2011, 10:28:46 PM
I support this idea.

Bitcoin is an excellent commodity, but we can't run away from the fact that it stinks as money(because of it's instability).

I had an idea called Infinity Coin/Credits/Dollars/Digits where the coins print forever, and the distribution rate is solely regulated by the difficulty of the network. This makes it so that the more demand there is the less of the money is available and vice/versa giving miners/traders/business owners all reasonable incentives to adopt the currency. The currency would be more evenly distributed in the beginning, and will be inflating forever (at a very slow and predictable rate). It would be like creating a self regulated global federal reserve that's fair and transparent. This blockchain could directly compete with the deflating chain (Bitcoin) and inspire real cash adoption.

It would be nice to see someone take this Idea and I would surely participate.

EDIT:This would be the ideal system for most Mainstream economist. It would be really good if you got some of them on board with a decentralized/inflationary self-regulated system that operates off pure supply/demand, and projects a stable long-term financial reality for all businesses. SGTspike I would highly recommend you to talk to people who are professionals in this field and you will see that their opinions aren't to far from ours, try to get them involved. The problem isn't longterm inflation, the problem is greedy politicians manipulating the longterm odds to benefit their short term gains...

"My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress. It's time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice," the 80-year-old "Oracle of Omaha" wrote in an opinion article in The New York Times.

Buffett, one of the world's richest men and chairman of conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway [BRK.A  108789.00    1189.00  (+1.11%)   ] said his federal tax bill last year was $6,938,744.

"That sounds like a lot of money. But what I paid was only 17.4 percent of my taxable income—and that's actually a lower percentage than was paid by any of the other 20 people in our office. Their tax burdens ranged from 33 percent to 41 percent, and averaged 36 percent," he said.

1864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best thing to do? Buy more or not on: August 15, 2011, 04:09:01 PM
If I had the money I would buy from now all the way up until the end of the conference.
1865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So, did the people who whined about early adopters buy cheap BTC? on: August 15, 2011, 04:07:16 PM
I don't have a problem with early adopters being rewarded.  I DO have a problem with any single person holding more than 0.5% of the currency available.

This.

And comparing buying BTC at $0.001 each (or mining them with hundreds per week) or at $6 each is kinda idiotic.
If your so worried about it why not just mine IXcoin? You can be an early adopter right now!

...

Seriously what do you want?
1866  Economy / Speculation / Re: "The Investor" on: August 15, 2011, 02:42:05 AM
At least you people are finally able to see the market manipulation that I have been speaking about for so long, and that nobody has belived me. I spoke about him pulling out when the price dropped to $5 dollars.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=36232.0

Well is it not obvious more than ever that he is not back in the game?

The funny thing is he is not buying bitcoins to drive the price higher, which would be easy to do considering the low volume of asks. So it seems that he has a big investment already and is trying to make the demand look higher to force the price higher. This is all manipulation. I am not saying you can not profit from this or not, I am really not sure anymore. But if it was not for this manipulation, which must be done by one or few people, the price would have really been forced down.

I am not really sure the intentions of this person. I am sure that it is no coincidence that he is doing this right before the bitcoin conference. He is betting on the price to go higher after this.

However, I do not think this manipulation can really move the market much higher and continue to afford to pay all the miners for the bitcoins in the long term.

It would be nice if any one has thoughts on this manipulation and where it is going.
Well I do think it was more than one person, or maybe we really did see the low? GeniusX is the one that's got me believing in the "investor" lol. Or is it the bot guy?
1867  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Future World-Changing Megatrends on: August 14, 2011, 10:39:17 PM
Why do people on the Internet think that Ron Paul has a chance of winning a general election? I mean that with all honesty, even an alien disclosure seems more realistic at this point than Ron Paul winning the Republican nomination, let alone beating Barack Obama lol.. We have a better chance throwing our support at a serious Third Party candidate than we would supporting Ron Paul. Besides his son is in the Tea Party, and has been willing to take the county down to it's knees (voting against debt deal). Sorry guys just seeing things for how they are Smiley.

Paul just came in close second in the Iowa Straw Poll.  Smiley
I saw that, if he can pull off a caucus win he will shake the entire American political establishment. He will force Barack Obama to actually start being a Democrat and do some of the things he said he would do when we elected him (Decriminalize Marijuana, Close Down Guantanamo Bay, completley pull out of the middle east, and literally take on the Republican establishment head on). It would be very exciting to see, and I honestly would stay undecided till the very end. An Obama vs Romney election would be a snorefest Cheesy.
1868  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: August 14, 2011, 10:26:36 PM
Do we have to counter it with exuberance of the exact opposite though? I’m bullish, but I like being realistic, and if you put in too much hope in what this conference can achieve for Bitcoin, you might be disappointed.

Though I really don’t see any fundamental that has changed to justify a rally. People still can’t actually utilize Bitcoin itself to store their weatlh because the client is terribly user-unfriendly (where’s wallet.dat, how do I encrypt it, etc.), and we’ve seen what this has done.
I have been reading up on some of the guests that will be attending at this event. Bruce seems to be doing an amazing job on the organizational front, and there seems to be people flying from all over the country(USA) and all over the world to be at this event.

There are big players that will be there to congregate, and all of the concerns that you mentioned above I believe will be discussed in full detail and addressed.

I am excited because there will be many smart people meeting with other people who have the funds to make a difference in this small Internet economy. It is a time for growth and prosperity for all, and while this my all be hard to believe I think we all crave it as human beings.
1869  Economy / Speculation / "The Investor" on: August 14, 2011, 10:17:29 PM
This person obviously had the dough to bring this entire thing back to life. My personal wish is that it stabalizes at $20 for the next couple of months after Bitcon with a slow upward trend. That would be the best thing that could happen to Bitcoin would be a period of stability and growth.
1870  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: August 14, 2011, 10:09:16 PM
[…] since we going to $15 for the conference.
Cool crystal ball you got there.

HAHAHHAHA THIS IS GOING TO BE EPIC !!
Seriously, some Bitcoiners are maniacs.
Some of these bears are depressive egocentric maniacs who dwell on destruction and panic. Let us be happy...
1871  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: August 14, 2011, 09:55:47 PM
Just cleaned out my savings wallet into Mt. Gox and sold the very last of my bitcoins for $11.  I really hope there is a correction before the conference. For the first time in several months, I am completely bitcoinless.  I feel a little sad about it.  Undecided  Glad I stocked up under $8 though.  I'd be happy buying back in at 9.  Lets see some selling people.
Really stupid move for you to sell. You should seriously consider buying back in since we going to $15 for the conference.
1872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Government Cannot Outlaw Bitcoin, it's Impossible! on: August 14, 2011, 08:02:39 PM
I dont understand why some find it so hard to believe that the government wouldn't just embrace it and use it's unmatched hashing power to once again regain the trust of the entire world.  Wink

I have been giggling as they appear, lol =P
People are finally figuring out that if they just hold on to their Bitcoins (or spend them in the community), they are suddenly WORTH MORE Cheesy
1880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Created by the CIA! on: August 14, 2011, 05:11:48 AM
There is nothing strange in that theory. US gov agency experimenting with new fiat currency, looking for possible opportunities of switching from one thin air currency to another ? Why not, that is perfectly fits in the picture.

Doubt it.  Terrorist organizations can hack too.  Why give the opportunity for them to also profit massively?  A $100,000,000 economy won't do shit for the CIA or a terrorist group, but a $1,000,000,000,000 economy will if this thing explodes,  giving more power to both the CIA and terrorist groups.
How much hashing power do you think terrorist have compared to the United States government?
