1861  Economy / Gambling / Re: OneHash || bet with bitcoins || no registration, ads and pop-ups on: November 09, 2016, 07:25:15 PM
So anyone made some money in the US election bet? I was about to drop some BTCs in Onehash. The odds for Hillary where terrible but damn, all those damn polls were giving her like 95% chance of winning the god damn election. Im sooo glad I didn't bite the bullet. The conspiracy theorist in me makes me think that they rigged the polls in purpose to get money. I mean how the fuck is it possible that everyone says Trump will not win, then he wins by a big margin? Whoever is doing those polls is a total idiot.
1862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going all in on a Hillary win bet on: November 09, 2016, 05:40:36 PM
Hi guys, just in case someone is interested... im one of the guys that finally ended up not betting any money in the US Elections. I was almost ready to drop a couple BTC (a lot for more, I don't have many) just in hopes of getting less than 1 BTC in return since the odds were shit...

Good news: I didn't, I just watched the show from the sidelines. I feel bad for some guys that bet a lot of money. There is a guy that lost like 30k in a hillary win bet. Some other big gambles were as big as $500.000... a lot of people lost a lot of money last night.
1863  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trump being new POTUS - how it will affect Bitcoin in the long run? on: November 09, 2016, 04:58:04 PM
We are starting to see the resutls, Bitcoin going up 38 dollars in the last 6 hours, pretty good rise. Now it's correcting a bit, but it will keep going up. Overall the uptrend has been solid since 2015, early year, and we have not stopped going up since that 150 ish dollar crash. That was the time to go all in, now it's also a good time to buy since we will be 1000+ next year.
1864  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are Venezuelan not switching to Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2016, 04:46:36 PM
Bitcoin is still to complex and small for the average person to be used. It is still very annoying and convoluted when you are trying to buy Bitcoins from outside the US and EUR, and even in those countries people are at the begining confused with the whole thing. Only 0.01% of people in Venezuela use BTC (statistic out of my ass but I would guess it's about that)

We are pioneers, thats the good news.
1865  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Trump presidency may turn out beneficial for Bitcoin long term on: November 09, 2016, 04:42:44 PM
It's hard to tell, but one thing I notice is that when Trump was declared as the new President of the US the price of bitcoin rallies up. I guess there's is something that we need to know on why that big news dictate the price of bitcoin.

I don't think this is connected to Trump beeing elected for president. Price already was on the way up so this would probably happen anyway. Because  I realy can't see how this two things are connected.
As far as campaign promises are in question, I think things would change and he will not do what he was saying. Campaign and real life are two opposite things.
There must be some connections as Trump is known for different economic policies which may support alternate investments to flourish. Usually markets reacts to political changes, I believe today bitcoins prices up surged with a similar reason.

It obvious that the rise of Bitcoin that we have seen lately is due the fact that Donald Trump was finally elected as US president, as we saw exactly at the same time all the markets going down.

This is GREAT news for Bitcoin, since it is now consolidated as a robust safe haven against political uncertainty, and Trump will be 4 years of political uncertainty since he isn't part of the establishment.
1866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a revolutionary currency but a fairly inefficient payment network on: November 09, 2016, 04:19:32 PM
Lol omg...  Most people are saying yes.  Grin Then why you here ? If everyone used bitcoin then amount you would pay would just be the donbertion of your local fiat currency. I think bitcoin maybe does work better with fiat still around ? I say this because different countries use different currency and bitcoin is only one currency.
We are here because we believe in bitcoin and I am sure that it can evolve into perfect payment network. It is not that current version or protocol is final.
SegWit just been added, if miners will accept it then it will be the biggest update to bitcoin network up to date. I am not even talking about of Lightning Network here.

The only realistic chance of Bitcoin becoming a currency that has trillions of transactions per second (probably what a worldwide currency that gets used at a dollar/euro/yen level would be like) is through Lightning Network type of solutions. No amount of blocksize increases will ever get us anywhere without it.
1867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hedge Funds in Bitcoin on: November 09, 2016, 04:14:54 PM
Folks,

Im wondering how hedge funds, private funds, rich family offices etc. which are invested in Bitcoin are actually organized.

Are they just buying Global Bitcoin Investment Trust (GBTC)?
Are they using exchanges or custodians like GDAX, XAPO, BTCC etc. to store the Bitcoins?
Are the storing it on her own with e.g. a hardware wallet like Trezor?

Thx for some thoughts!

Im not sure tehre are yet rich people buying enough BTC to bother with anything but buying some BTC and storing it themselves (or usually in Coinbase because they are idiots that can't make the effort to learn how to store Bitcoin locally)

I don't know about GBTC but I expect all those options to get used a lot once we finally have an actual ETF.
1868  Economy / Gambling / Re: Battlecoin.org - Multiplayer bomberman clone on: November 08, 2016, 04:26:35 PM
Any news about this project? I miss playing some bomberman for bitcoins, it was the best way to gamble and have fun with BTC. All the other games lack the fun and nostalgic arcade vibes that this game had. It was a perfect mix, we need more old arcade and nintendo games to play for BTC.
1869  Economy / Gambling / Re: Hillary vs Trump betting: what are the best sites? on: November 08, 2016, 04:14:10 PM
Damn the odds for Hillary are still shit. I was expecting the odds to get better for Hillary as Trump gains a little bit of traction through the day. I think it will be a really close fight, if Hillary loses somebody is going to lose a lot of money.
1870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will ZCash Classic pump? on: November 08, 2016, 04:08:22 PM
Lots of traders lost out big on Zcash, no one would venture out on Zcash classic if it goes insanely high like Zcash.

Even the ZCash price is dropping like a stone now. It is possible that the price will be signle dollars soon.

Well that would be a total disaster. The supply of ZCash is still tiny, going to single dollars this soon would mean the coin is really cheap. The supply is just too small, if the price goes too low everyone is going to sell in panic. ZCash is a coin that can't afford cheap coins.
1871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin help poor countries? on: November 08, 2016, 04:01:27 PM
It is already helping poor countries. In places like kenya and stuff there are people going there and setting bitcoin banks with the help of cheap computers and cheap smartphones, or even nokia type of phones throught SMS. An economy can be started with a single cheap device.
1872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ZCoin (XZC) (NOT ZCASH!) possible future on: November 08, 2016, 12:53:42 PM
interesting to watch what will happen with this coins. At the time on Bittrex is dump

The trick is to get in early before a Poloniex pump happens. Of course, it's not that easy. In order to benefit the pump needs to have a high volume, without high volume it's pretty much useless. The volume right now is 18 BTC... it needs to grow a lot to get any where notable.
1873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will ZCash Classic pump? on: November 08, 2016, 12:47:29 PM

Well the idea is to get in now before it gets to poloniex. The question is, will it even get to poloniex? there's always that you buy a coin and it never gets anywhere, and by anywhere I mean getting the obligatory pump before it starts stagnating forever.
1874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rootstock RSK Fork on: November 08, 2016, 12:46:04 PM
Do you really think Zclassic is going anywhere? It seems like another pump and dump scheme just like Ethereum Classic was. What happened to Ethereum Classic? it just keeps deflating, there's nothing new under the sun, unfortunately people are sheep and will follow whatever vbuterin does.
1875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Will ZCash Classic pump? on: November 07, 2016, 04:52:19 PM
So the ZEC party is over, everything is looking boring again (except bitcoin). But we want more bitcoin, so... what the hell do we do?

Im looking at ZCash Classic. Do you think it will pump hard? ETC sure pumped big time.
1876  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: There is no life in Gambling can you accept this....?? on: November 07, 2016, 04:49:35 PM
It depends on what you call gambling. If you consider poker gambling then yes, there is life into gambling and you can make a lot of money in a consistent matter and make a living out of it, not by slot machines or dice tho.
1877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you Rich from Gambling? on: November 07, 2016, 04:46:19 PM
Actually i never saw a man, who has rich from Gambling?
I m not playing gambling because i saw a lot of people who has lost everything in gambling.
So i want to ask if anyone is here how has rich from GAMBLING ??
i don't think here will be any person which is riched only by gambling because the chances of loss are more than win .

There are some people that get rich from gambling. Im sure someone is insane enough to bet their life savings on something and get it right, an all in one bet and if you get it right you could become a millionaire.
1878  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going all in on a Hillary win bet on: November 07, 2016, 04:33:45 PM
Well according to the latest news, Hillary has already won. The FBI has said that Hillary is not accountable for anything of the email shit, which is obviously bullshit since they looked at 650.000 emails in a couple of days when they took 8 months to look at 30.000
1879  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How will Bitcoin 1.0 look like? on: November 07, 2016, 04:19:28 PM
Ok this is more of an speculation thread but im curious what people here think... what will Bitcoin 1.0 look like technically wise, and in what year do you expect we will reach 1.0? We will probably be wrong about a lot of things but it's fun to speculate.

I would hope that by then we have solved how to take Bitcoin to the next level in terms of dumbing it down as much as possible for the snapchat generation, and also the older people is also able to use it just like a tablet. (of course all the nice complex options can be unlocked for the power user)

People shouldn't be bothered if something goes off or onchain, it just has to work.

Default settings should be as private as possible for everyone, obfuscating amounts and ideally transactions "mixed" by default. People should not be bothered with coin control, selecting fees etc.

Sidechains are common and every relevant business has its own.

I don't know what else to say.
1880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver: Bitcoin Scaling Solution Segwit a “Bait and Switch” on: November 07, 2016, 04:05:26 PM
Nobody is perfect, including Core devs and Satoshi, but what we know is, they are the best in the game, delivering solid software. The fact that Roger Ver questions this software because of some ridiculous moral judgement that he does there, is just proof that the guy is losing it. He should stop fucking around and support Segwit already.
