1861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Websites...is it just me... on: September 14, 2012, 09:14:24 PM
It is just me that thinks that most of the bitcoin related websites look like they were all done by the same designers - the overall feel of a lot of them is very similar...

why is that?

Coz most of them r made by tech-geeks without artistic design skills.

This ^

All graphic designers know they can't program. But most programmers don't know they can't design. I will say though that Bitcoin websites have slowly been getting better. The average design today is significantly better than a year ago. Some day, all this stuff might start looking professional!  Wink

Nailed it.  I have done web development consulting for 15 years and this is wisdom.  It takes time to learn how to get designers and developers on the same page talking a mutual technical language.    I usually get in the middle and translate Smiley
1862  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anybody knows why BTCs are going up so quickly today? on: September 14, 2012, 09:09:34 PM
Is there any news that make bitcoins going up these days?

Perhaps they are trying to pop up the price so much as to pay for the Romney tax return 1 BTC? Smiley

Any idea is welcome.

+1  we can hope.   I thought about this too.  Kudos
1863  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3200 Gh/s] 50BTC.com - PPS, INSTANT payout (LR, qiwi, WM,...), API, no stales on: September 14, 2012, 08:24:37 PM
I have been assured that by this evening (24 hours from last night) that my balance would reflect the BTC owed to me instead of the negative balance I have not.   If I don't see this happen by tonight I will be posting a public statement on this.   I keep getting sort of canned responses from support which makes me raise an eyebrow.

I have a negative balance as well with a number of coins showing earn but I can not access them.    I emailed support, I should hear something today.  If not I will become more vocal on this situation.   I would like this resolved quickly.

Jesus if all the admins/VIPs/whatevers are going to fuck around as badly as the newbies... wtf are we to do?

Time to bring in some new blood.   I love this forum, we just need to clean it up so we can take it to the next level.

Do you really get the PPS they advertise?   That seems like the best deal around right now?

I have switched over to Ozcoin until the issues are resolved.  Don't like the whole phantom payout thing.

Do you use DGM or PPS at OZ?

My main issues are it now showing the mining speed at all and me having a larger amount of coins earned but the payout being like 25% less of this number.  What is going on?    I sent a message asking for an official update.

Official Update?

1870  Economy / Goods / Re: Will you be the first to buy Rhodium for Bitcoin and be a part of history? on: September 11, 2012, 06:47:35 PM
I am selling a 1 gram 2009 Cohen Mint .999 rhodium bullion for   shipped insured to the USA.

Rhodium spot price is $1,150 per ounce with 1 ounce Cohen Mint rhodium coins selling for $1,405 or $45.18 per gram or 4.07 BTC per gram. Thus, the premium including shipping is about 445%.

I would be interested in this but would need a more competitive price. Perhaps 5 BTC shipped via Fedex?
Find me some one retailing bullion at that price. Additionally this has collector value because it is the first year issue, not to mention it will be the first rhodium bullion sold for BTC. Will sign a C.O.A. if the buyer likes verifying its historical value.

Does that still make it worth a premium 4 times the spot price?    I was interested when I read your headline but geez man, your aren't selling rare dimes.
1871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Convention - to BTC or not to btc, that is the question. on: September 11, 2012, 06:08:09 PM
Which brings up another thought: what's the Unicode for BTC? Grin

+1  I would like to know as well.  I fear that this was just a custom patch on this forum software.   Theymos should know?
1872  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Fed will not ease. on: September 10, 2012, 09:20:53 PM
The Federal Reserve has been easing this entire time through various means.    The end game they will avoid at all costs is deflation.  This is the real threat (inflation is a after-effect of combating deflation so you can have both).   We are in a debt-based system so without growth it eventually consumes itself because you can't cover even small amounts of interest payments over time.

Large defaults of debt is the signal you need to look for if you want to know what will signal any meaningful recovery.  If you don't see those then we are ever-inflating with fresh debt to paper over and roll the old debt.  This has historical evidence since the dawn of recorded history.  Different times but the basics are still the same.
1873  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: When is this pirate drama going to end? on: September 10, 2012, 09:12:10 PM
I do not have a single satoshi invested with pirate; however I am monitoring the pirate drama closely. Why? Because of the potential impact on the BTC / USD exchange rate.

+1  This is why I have paid attention too, seeing how the crowd is feeling on a day to day basis.
1874  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Service/Bet Recap Summary on: September 10, 2012, 09:08:00 PM
7. PPTs were "insured" via "Insurance" that was financed through Pirate as well as PPTs. You know, for risk mitigation.
Giggle Test.

I, I, I think we may have seen this play already from Wall Street?  Anyone remember AIG?
1875  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer Tags- Pirate Pass Through operators ? on: September 10, 2012, 06:40:33 PM
I agree that if they are listed on the GBLSE AND that DISCLAIMED the possibility of complete loss then they SHOULD NOT be labeled a SCAMMER.   This is along the lines of if the risk section of the prospectus.    The investors are responsible for due diligence and if this was disclaimed then they deserve to bare the risk associated with that type of investment.  I read through some offering statements on the exchange and some did outright state this in clear English.

6-8 year safely and who knows from that point.
1877  Economy / Goods / Re: NEFT Vodka and Bitcoin on: September 07, 2012, 09:22:59 PM
I don't like the idea of alcohol extracting BPA or other crap from the lining of the can.
BPA is in plastics, right?!
Yes, in the plastic lining of most aluminum cans. It's highly soluble in alcohol. Also no, it's not just in plastics. Thermal printer paper (receipts) are usually soaked with BPA, up to 2%.

Yes, it is used as a material softener if I am correct.
1878  Economy / Goods / Re: NEFT Vodka and Bitcoin on: September 07, 2012, 09:21:38 PM
By the way, this isn't just a flashy brand. The vodka itself is excellent - it is my favorite, even without the Bitcoin connection. I have four barrels in my freezer.

Where do you live?  Can you message me on how you imported it if you in the U.S.?    Barrels in my freezer, I am getting goose bumps.

Imported the old fashioned way... fly to Austria, come back with 8 barrels in my luggage. How it made it through security is beyond me (yes it was checked baggage, but can you imagine what the x-ray image would look like? hahahaha)

Holy S**t your a mad man.    Cheers, okay time to find "the way".

Man I love the bottle design.  Now I am motivated to get my hands on some.
