I am selling a 1 gram 2009 Cohen Mint .999 rhodium bullion for BTC shipped insured to the USA. This is the very first mass produced rhodium bullion round on the market. In the past the metal was far too hard to be worked by machines of the time, only recently was it made possible with new minting technology. As far as I know this will be the first ever sale of rhodium bullion in exchange for Bitcoin. Who wants to join me in this first? PM me to order your own piece of history. uncirculated, comes in airtite with Certificate of Authenticity. My rep (300+ trades, $330+ fronted, all debts paid, year+ of trade history): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=12119.0https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=484.0https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=58518.0

For anyone wondering what the hell Rhodium is (like I was) this is what I found. It is one of the rarest precious metals and is part of the platinum group. It is often used in alloys with Platinum or Palladium to make corrosion resistant coatings. Its most common use today is in the catalytic converters of cars.
I am posting this in pure afternoon boredom and don't know the seller at all.
Edit: O, and rhodium compounds can stain your skin.

Only in powder form, usually a powder sponge in a plastic container is the default storage method. It is used in jewelry because it is very resistant to corrosion and is very hard.

I am selling a 1 gram 2009 Cohen Mint .999 rhodium bullion for shipped insured to the USA. Rhodium spot price is $1,150 per ounce with 1 ounce Cohen Mint rhodium coins selling for $1,405 or $45.18 per gram or 4.07 BTC per gram. Thus, the premium including shipping is about 445%. I would be interested in this but would need a more competitive price. Perhaps 5 BTC shipped via Fedex?

Additionally this has collector value because it is the first year issue, not to mention it will be the first rhodium bullion sold for BTC. Will sign a C.O.A. if the buyer likes verifying its historical value.

I was interested when I read your headline but geez man, your aren't selling rare dimes.

Current rates from Cohen Mint's website with a 3-4 week delivery time, plus shipping costs, no credit cards excepted for MODERN versions of the 1 gram issue, not the original issue... 1-49 coins 71.56 each 50 - 99 Coins 67.56 each 100 + Coins 64.56 each To sum it up for you, you are ignoring minting premiums for smaller pieces, retail cost, actual retail rates for current issues, as well as collector value, difficulty in obtaining more from Cohen, as well as ease of conversion from BTC. Any other minor points you would like to gloss over?

I'm not surprised. I am, you need 1 gram of Rhodium to time travel, I'm surprised some scientist hasn't snatched this up yet.

I believe Rhodium Sponge is a moniker given to the powdered form of Rhodium, there's no actual sponge. Regardless, this is cool.

I'll buy the coin at 2% over spot(spot is how much the metal itself is traded at) shipped to Europe. Let me know
No. I would also be interested to see this mythical place where you claim you can buy physical rhodium bullion in a gram quantity at 2% over spot. People don't seem to understand the concept that the value of the spot market and the value of the physical metal are not the same thing. To save some time you can refrain from spot or just over spot offers because it isn't happening.

Physical delivery for Rhodium is always in the powdered form, for industrial usage. The advent of coins and bullion is mostly a retail market phenomenon after the closing of the gold window and the end of Bretton Woods.
Precious metal coins, Rhodium included, always trade at a premium to the spot price. Platinum and Rhodium in particular, being difficult metals to work with (requiring a high temperature to melt and special tools) trade at a larger premium over spot than gold or silver. Considering that the supply of Rhodium coins is extremely small, the premium over spot for Rhodium specie is the highest of all the precious metals.
TL;DR version: An offer of 2% over spot is unreasonable.

I already bought this coin from him, traveled back in time and sold it back to him at a premium and he's selling it now. Don't be fooled!

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place.

I would be interested if I could get a more reasonable pricing structure in my opinion. I understand how the physical market works on these things. Your pricing is still out of line even for such a rare material.

If there is something that will make Bitcoin succeed, it is growth of utility - greater quantity and variety of goods and services offered for BTC. If there is something that will make Bitcoin fail, it is the prevalence of users convinced that BTC is a magic box that will turn them into millionaires, and of the con-artists who have followed them here to devour them.
