18601  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Wu Announces BM 7NM pending Miner release. 42 J/TH on: October 16, 2018, 07:57:28 PM
Hey Phil, I wouldn't get my hopes up on the efficiency. There are alot of problems it seems with the 7nm chips and it is very hard to get good efficiency on them. It may get something around 60-70watt/th but I seriously doubt anyone will get anything below 50watt/th in the next few years. I'm not a chip engineer so I don't know the whole detail so perhaps others that are more knowledgable would chime in as to why. But yea, so far the big brands are struggling to get the performance to where they want it to be. I expect Bitcoin mining to shrink if anything (in terms of miners) in the coming years. Anyone above 0.05kw/hr will be hard pressed to stay in the game.

yeah we are hitting the wall as diff is going sideways and we are creeping down to where only 2-4 cent power works.

18603  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: October 16, 2018, 04:26:19 PM
It is not useless to mine it on solo.ckpool.org  if he needs heat in his space and is mining vs a space heater.

While he won't ever make money here unless he hits a block  and gets a small bonus well under 100 usd.

If he needs heat and points it to solo.ckpool.org and hits a block he gets 12.5 coins.

IN either case   the odds against him  are more then 100,000,000 to one   but  if he was going to use a space heater   he would hove 0 chance.

So would you like a 100,000,000 to one chance at a block  or a zero chance.

The problem with pointing here is he gets 20-100 usd for hitting the 100,000,000 to one chance.

So he should point it to the solo pool
18604  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: October 16, 2018, 10:42:30 AM
Hi i want to mine with cgminer-3.7.2-windows, with my 750gtx-ti, yes i know i would probably never get some or little pay outs but i just want to try it out.
No. You will never get any payout whatsoever. Zilch. Nil. Nothing. Nada. You might earn 1 cent in a year. To get into the payout queue might take you 50 years at that rate. Just don't do it at all. Mining bitcoin with a GPU - any GPU, is completely futile. There's a reason I completely stopped supporting GPU mining and consciously removed it from cgminer, so please don't even go looking for support for it. I actively discourage people from doing it because it shares virtually NOTHING with how bitcoin is currently mined and is a futile - and potentially very expensive - exercise.

Hi there, like i just said that's not about the money....i just want to see it work,i don't care if it costs me money, i just want the experience and learn from it...not all people are just like you:)

so you really want to learn if you do
don't point it to this pool

point it to this pool

http://solo.ckpool.org/

this is a free lesson.

As the the teacher of it  I will ask you to do it and post results in this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.0

feel free to pm me  with questions as to why you want to point that  gpu to this pool  http://solo.ckpool.org/

and not this pool http://ckpool.org/

As it is absolutely true that  for some people  using a gpu to mine at solo.ckpool  makes sense   while it is next to impossible to argue that mining  a gpu at http://ckpool.org/ makes any sense at all

So I will be willing to teach you this lesson if you are willing to point the gpu at http://solo.ckpool.org/

and post about it here:

Monday the 15th which I would have liked to think was a shot at a refund.  Since it is a weekend beyond the 11th cutoff date.

I was not refunded

the only orders ever made and paid for   Are  in bold type above.

those bold type ones were about 0.130 btc
and I have no refund for them.

As of today  no one has shown working gear in their possession.
No on has show proof of refund.

A few emails save some hosting gear has shipped to a hoster.

I really wanted to think this would work out better then it has.

So far the best thing that happened for me is order system worked very poorly  preventing most of my orders  from taking place.

I will not post an update until this friday.  Unless I am refunded.

925 is a bit too low. My projections show me a low cost or free power guy should earn in under 6 months at 1050 price.

Even  possibly as fast as 140 days.  So I am at 1050 for  3 of them with wires and controller not 925.

Now I realize you need 0 cost or very low cost power to roi them.

I am hoping some has that and asks me to sell them.  At 1050 or close to that price not 925.

they can clock to 900 watts or to 1350 watts   they can do 9th to 12.5 th

18609  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: October 15, 2018, 10:20:19 PM
Low power makes sense for not just home but all miners. If any line can only take x "powerful" units, compared to 2*x "low power" units it's increased sales and farm are happy with full racks. Although the efficiencies need be there. The A911 sounds great still lot's will be waiting on the 941 release.

A lot depends on its down clock ability.

the 841  was great to down clock and you could increase efficiency at low settings

the 851 was great to upclock its best efficiency was at full speed.

so if the A911 is tweaked like the A841  it will be good to down clock

if the A911 is tweaked like the A851 it will be good to up clock

common sense   says to tweak it like the A841.

I am eagerly awaiting a reply from Steve of Cannan to see if they have some for me.
18610  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Current List of Competitive Hardware - October 2018 on: October 15, 2018, 06:18:03 PM
I don't know I missed it. Looks their larger unit is less efficient? The b1+ looks decent, pricing is ok. We'll probably list this after reaching out to Bitfily.

yeah 49th at 5400 watts = no good  for many ,but it will work on a 30 amp 240 volt circuit.

you need 2-4 cent power to consider having it.

although I see sideways movement in difficulty for a few months.  maybe it works for a six cent miner
18611  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: October 15, 2018, 02:54:12 PM
So the selling point for the 911 will be it using a longitudinal fan that should be fairly quiet (eg aimed at home use) like the old BM R4's?

Well if it is like the R4 that was pretty quiet when downclocked just a bit.

But 1440 watts and 18000gh is 80 watts th.

I hope with a down clock it can do under 80 watts a th.

I contacted Steve of canaan.io to get a FEW A911'S

I WILL POST BACK.

about

So the sideways motion is setting up

compare to this time frame:

Aug 24 2018   6,727,225,469,722   5.29%   48,155,355,642 GH/s

May 24 2018   4,306,949,573,981   3.94%   30,830,345,943 GH/s

The key is the next two jumps after this one.
Along with BTC price.

if price stays at 6000 - 6500  I think we continue to drift sideways.
18617  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: My Plan on: October 15, 2018, 12:07:18 AM
Hosting could be an option but it has a lot of hidden costs and issues.
For me if I could have a nice generator with free fuel I think I would mine before I host.
Or cut a deal with one guy looking to dump his miners.

Let’s say he gets a good 50kwatt generator. And one guy brings him 30 s9is.

The deal they do is 50-50 on the coins mined.

His cost is the 50kwatt generator. He gets the coins from 15 machines.

The s9i guy gets free power for 30 machines and keeps coins from 15 machines.

This could work for op.

The gear will always earn money.
18618  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: October 14, 2018, 07:46:12 PM
Low power is fine if it's more efficient, correct?

yes it is.  in fact I would love a 800 watt 12th miner

if the A911 is close to this I will get one and review it.

In my house which can use heating from now until may

an a911 using 800 watts and doing 12th would be nice.

@HagssFin
As for A911 as a native New Yorker that lost a relative firefighter on 911 maybe I would dedicate this to him.

There were some comments about international shipping that I didn't see get answered.  Basically stating that paying the VAT was shady.  This is perfectly acceptable albeit not typical.  It is called DDP or deliver duties paid.  This puts the responsibility of the duty calculation and charges on the shipper which is why many companies do not send this way.  If they miscalculate, they will get a bill for the difference.

The method more often used would be DAP (delivered at place, and formerly known as DDU or deliver duties unpaid).  This is what many people are used to and it puts the responsibility to pay duties on the buyer only.

Sending DDP is not an indication of anything shady.

These are just two of the more common terms for small parcels and LTL freight.  There are many terms outlined. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incoterms

if they paid the vat.  no one knows if they paid it or said they paid it.  so far no one has received the gear.

Now when a European  buyer gets one and says I prepaid vat and have not been charged a second time then you would be fully correct.

At the moment you are hopefully correct.  To anyone that paid prepaid euro vat for the gear.  please  make lots of copies of all the paperwork you have.

as of today my 2 orders are marked paid not shipped not refunded not cancelled.

I will update on and off at least once a week. Until  they refund or ship it.
