Do you need a PSU for this or is it built in?
18782  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: FREE electrical power available - but no knowledge of bitcoins on: January 24, 2015, 04:12:21 AM
I am in the EXACT scenario are YOURSELF.

I have free electricity but I don't want to RISK any money buying miners that will NEVER get an ROI.

Your best option is to buy USED miners from the classifieds or from this forum from people who can no longer afford to run them.

You are pretty much looking at the old KNC Miners, S1, etc. These miners are VERY bad on efficiency but for yourself it doesn't matter. And they are DIRT cheap.

If you buy something new, it costs more and you are at risk of losing money. Looking at the chart, looks like BTC might go to $150 sometime this month or next.

18783  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Hash Rate Will NEVER Drop EVER! Read why on: January 24, 2015, 04:04:38 AM
Many are speculating that the hashrate will drop because mining is no longer profitable and they will shut down their rigs. While this is true one needs to remember that unless the mining equipments gets DESTROYED or put in STORAGE most likely it will be shipped to another party who will turn the equipment back on.

Since nobody will DESTROY the mining equipment it will be put to use in 2 ways

1) Turned off temporarily: The miner might turn off the equipment for a couple weeks or months and see if conditions improve. If they dont, it will be moved to option 2.

2) Sold and Shipped to someone else: Many around the world have dirt cheap to free electricity. These are the ones who are buying up these cheap miners due to the low risk and high reward scenario.

The MINING EQUIPMENT and HASHRATE is NEVER destroyed only its MOVED. The hashrate might spike up or down for the next couple of weeks but its only due to the fact that the equipment is temporarily turned off because its currently in shipping.

Keep in mind if you are using them for home mining, they are EXTREMELY LOUD compared to other miners out there.

Anyone here running 2 Antminer S3+ on one Corsair CX750?

I rather not buy a PSU for each and rather underclock the Antminer and run two of them on one PSU.

You can keep them on hosting there if you wish or have them sent wherever you wish but be aware of VAT charges in Europe and UK. The hosting for S4's is on monthly basis, $33.92 per day for all 8 units. You don't have to wait for the units to be delivered to you, just start mining as soon as the sale is complete. The pool settings can be accessed and changed anytime you want by accessing your Umisoo account.

Will use escrow, shared fees if any.

Also, 2x Spondoolies SP10 curently hosted at Toomim Bros. in Washington State. The hosting expires on the 10th of March 15 so you'll be getting over a month and a half of free hosting. Price for these is 3.3 BTC for both (at current btc price)

Any questions or interested to buy please send PM.

Thanks.

I can see why you are selling them.

Current Revenue $37 per day - $34 hosting fee = $3/day

Hello

I bought a used Antminer S3 but the user and password "root" doesn't work. The previous owner must of changed it.

Anyway to reset it?
Check Dogie's guide at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=702653.  There is a reset switch accessible from the front panel, next to the 2 LEDs and Ethernet connector.  You power it up, press the reset button through the hole using a paper clip or similar thin object, hold it for 5-10 secs.  This will reset it to factory defaults, including the password.

Cheers

Are the lights suppose to change when pressing the button? They all stay lite, like pressing it does nothing.

Yes they are, suggests the unit is on a firmware where the reset button's functionality is broken. While you wait for your seller to reply to your password email, you can SSH and control them from there. This will at least get you up and running.

1) SSH to S5, Login root/root
2) Type "screen -r". Wait for all the messages to go through.
3) Type "P" to enter Pool Management.

the user and password root doesn't work.

Just wondering but is there any rule against having more than one Primedice account? I'm not talking about cheating the affiliate system by adding yourself as a referral. I'm just talking about three completely separate accounts. Is this allowed?

A large number of users on Primedice do have alternate accounts, for various purposes ("bank" accounts, or sometimes just because they fancied another username, so they took it too =P). Having multiple accounts isn't punishable (at least at the moment), just don't use them for faucet abuse or something silly like that. Feel free to make another!

Multiple accounts are perfectly fine, PD rules are pretty lax in general and border along the lines not being an asshole or breaking the website.

Bring back bigger faucets my man!

No trust me the bigger faucets are NOT GOOD for the site. too many people take advantage.

Maybe introduce play money.

So I guess when prices go to $100 or so would be the safest time to buy mining ASICs?
