1881  Other / Meta / Re: Goodbye to Merit History... on: May 28, 2018, 05:23:31 AM
<...>
Until now, what I did was a full load of the complete merit.txt file, since it was self-sufficient and covered all the lifespan of the Merit System (so each load discarded the previous). I load the data files into a RDBMS (my unix/linux memory is too distant these days).

Seen what we’ve seen today, the tactics for loading the data will be as follows:
1.   Load the new merit.txt file into a table.
2.   Insert into the new table all the records from the previous load’s table that do not exist in the new table (comparing by time, msg, user_from, user_to) and with a timestamp <= min(timestamp) in new file.

That is, from the old file, only retrieve records that are outside the window timeframe of the newly received file.

The 9 registers we’ve been talking about before are in the new file (although with different msg Ids than in last week’s file), so placing the above stated timestamp condition assures that I’ll keep the latest msgId.
Having done the above, the aggregate totals are as follows (for anyone who wants to compare):

nMerit     nTx       nFrom     nTo        minDate                            maxDate
159.076   71.427   14.143   15.755   2018-01-24 22:12:21.000   2018-05-25 02:45:40.000

I broke it down by week and compared it to my reports of the kind. All the historical static weeks coincide in values, so the process is fine.

As I said before, what we will lose, whatever we do, is the track of the msg Ids that change for a given Tx outside the 120 day window. So for example, if a merited post gets moved or deleted after 120 days, the cumulative file has no way of knowing that since the Tx does not update in the weekly file.
The deviation should be very small and pretty much ignorable (unless anyone goes bonkers and starts to move/delete things heavily after 120 days). The deviation should only be in terms of the post msg Id (when aggregating by Forum Section for example), but should not budge on the aggregate user’s balance.

I’ve seen the timestamp again and there are cases of both double-clicks, as well as simultaneous meriting over the forum.

I am putting my solution in image, because cloudfare is not allowing me to write sql's command in post.

My Bad.. I read that 9 page white paper first before browsing through the posts here.

I got few question in the white paper but all got cleared up when I started browsing the forum post.

Investor of Howeycoins already got their guaranteed profit (a very valuable lesson) even before this coin hit the exchange.

1883  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I buy safely BTC and ETh on: May 27, 2018, 09:52:23 PM

I am thinking of investing in ICOS but I dont have crypto , where to buy from safely?

If you are located in US then you can use https://www.coinbase.com/.

You can buy in this forum in the Marketplace board "https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=51.0"  . Be sure to use  reputable escrow service if you are using this forum for buying.

To learn English, you can watch English movies with subtitles. Here is the list of those films and series that I used.

My Fair Lady (1964)      Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)               The Office (2001—2003)

                                          Extr@ (2002—2004)

I think you missed a very good series.

This is worth watching.
1885  Other / Meta / Re: Change username! on: May 27, 2018, 03:06:18 AM
I'd like to request for a change of my forum account name.
~
I don't think that Theymos will activate new feature which allows users change their original account names. It (if implemented) might lead to serriously chaotic situation in the forum. It is too complicated to apply. The odds for the change is almost zero.

Change of username is not allowed as scammer can change their name after scamming.
Theymos can change it if he found it is justified.
The change of username was done for user 'alia' by Theymos and it was free.
1886  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Common mistakes made when first investing in cryptocurrencies on: May 27, 2018, 02:35:19 AM
Patience is the Key. Holders always win . Holders never lose.

Just wondering , if you are holding bitconnect or Davor coin.
If you need profit you need to sell at one point of time. Word "HODL" never meant that you will always hold. It just meant to be patient , not to be weak hands. If everybody hold the BTC then it will have no worth. It got worth because people traded it , bought goods from it.
1887  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wanna be a trader on: May 27, 2018, 02:19:14 AM
Guys I want to be a trader and as a newbie I want first to know if "how much do i need to start in trading?" can you guys share any of your experience?

You can trade with as little as 100 doge coin in exchange like Cryptopia. Tody price of Doge coin is 47 satoshi and BTC price is $7324.
So it means you can start your trading career with as little as 35 cents.

But if you want to get into trading thinking that you can make easy quick bucks , then I will say reconsider your decision.

Any way , I will suggest you too just put 1/2  of amount in trade that you can comfortably lose. The other 1/2 amount is to buy in dip , if your  first 1/2 got diminished due to unforeseen market circumstances.

Actually this happened with me, I purchased Doge coin @75 satoshi with bitcoin price around $17K. Fast forward , Bitcoin price dropped to 8.5 K and doge price to 38 satoshis. You can see how easily the original investment become 1/4 of its original value. That's why I suggest to keep other half in reserve so that you are able to purchase in this bearish market to minimize the loss.
1888  Other / Meta / Re: Unban My Account on: May 26, 2018, 05:57:16 AM
Who can unban my account "captchacoins"

First ,  If you got banned then you already got the some mail for "ban appeal" so you should appeal on it.
Second, If you got banned, then you can only made a post of it in "Meta" section. Posting in any other forum is considered is as ban evasion.
Third, Ban are not limited to account but  they are user specific. If one of your account is banned it mean you should not access forum with any new account also.

1890  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Capability of Blockchain on: May 26, 2018, 05:22:48 AM
Electricity is used to produce electricity.
Really.

First, Blockchain is a technology and it can have/already has many practical implementation. It is distributed ,decentralized ,digital public ledger.  (although you can create variants of it , according to the need.)
Even government that are not promoting bitcoin or thinking of banning it are themselves exploring the use of blockchain for the welfare of the people.

1891  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Can LN support Multisig Wallets. on: May 25, 2018, 03:27:49 PM
I am just wondering can we make a channel in Lightning Network that can support the multisig wallets.

Multisignatue.

Technically I think yes, because it just need channel between to addresses/ or wallets. It should not matter what type of wallets are in both end.
1892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High taxation risk - India on: May 23, 2018, 03:06:03 PM
IMO, this is a good news more than a bad news. India imposing tax on crypto is better than banning crypto all together. The income tax in India seems to be at 20% for middle class which is higher than 18%, so it seems reasonable.

Income tax reference from the website:
https://www.hdfclife.com/insurance-knowledge-centre/tax-saving-insurance/latest-income-tax-slab-and-deductions-fy-2017-18

I think you are acting stupid, 18% GST  on crypto currency simply shows government has no understanding about it.
Do you impose sales tax,GST on share market trading?

They just want a cash grab.
1893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sprouts🌱(SPRTS) - Revival Cryptocurrency with Hardfork [PoW/PoS] on: May 23, 2018, 01:58:12 PM
Taking your advice I have gambled on this....bought 910 million Sprouts...if all goes to plan with a successful HF and another bull run, who knows I might get in business. It is like the penny stock of the Share market. POS until then should get me some money back....who knows at real 1 sats I might be in business and if it goes to 10 sats, if it ever does then life will change Smiley

Looking into your history it look like I should buy this. (specially when I saw the PCN turnaround, I think you bought at sub satoshi level and it reached to 13 satoshi). But still I do not understand supply of this coin in trillions and Dev still did not give any roadmap how they will deal with all the future inflation of this coin.
1894  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: POW vs. POS on: May 23, 2018, 12:55:10 PM

I already mentioned the type of attack which is Nodes in some areas/country can't connect to Nodes from different area/country/region/continent which could be done with intentional attack from government & natural disaster or failure which prevent ISP connect to different country for some time.

When those nodes connect again, there would be 2 different chain because they were disconnected for some time. In PoW, the nodes simply choose chain with biggest PoW while PoS can't determine which chain to be chosen, at least without human intervention.

I agree, this type of attack is feasible. Even POW takes the longest chain automatically then what will happen to transactions in other chain?

Are they will be automatically reverted because longest chain do not have any information about another chain so for it they never happened.

If chain fork automatically due to these circumstances then it will be blow to that crypto currency  because the transaction are non reversible and it will mean Merchant on other chain sell their goods for free.
1895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] Goodomy - From the Creator of the first ICO - May 28th, 35% token BONUS on: May 23, 2018, 12:31:58 PM
I downloaded the app and I am now more confused. What exactly 50 GOOD Dollar  fiat value.
One GOOD token in exchange is around 100 satoshi and  when it transferred to shopomy app it will become 1 GOOD Dollar.
But real value of 100 sataoshi will come around .1 cents and this  .1 cent will become 1 GOOD Dollar in shopnomy?

How the business will get fiat if GOOD Dollar are not convertible?
1896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] Goodomy - From the Creator of the first ICO - May 20th, 35% token BONUS on: May 21, 2018, 03:53:33 PM
Announcement: Shopomy referral bonuses are now $45.00

Let's get those new users rolling in!

I am bit confused with below exchange rates

Exchange Rates

May 8-17, 2018: 1 token = GOOD $3.15

May 18-24, 2018: 1 token = GOOD $2.68

May 25-31, 2018: 1 token = GOOD $1.xx

Is that means that 1 GOOD token in exchange is currently worth of 2.68 GOOD dollars.

If I am getting 50 GOOD Dollar for currently signing, Then does it make more sense if I register after 25 may, then I will get more good token?

After 588 million token in circulation, still 300 million token will be left, are they will be hold for some future exchange listing or they will be tied to promotion of shopnomy?

1897  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: POW vs. POS on: May 21, 2018, 03:21:01 PM
PoW's disadvantage is all the energy use.

I think that the advantage of PoW over PoS in large scale implementations is indeed the fact that it uses raw processing power (translated in hashpower) and electricity; this way, the coin gets a real value, being backed by the amount of energy and equiment involved in securing the blockchain, while making it more resilient to larger attackers such as nation states.

Also, when the any cryptocurrency is attacked and part of the network/miners/stakes went offline or can't reach other part of the cryptocurrency network. That would make split-chain happen, but PoW won't have any problem when part of the network went online/can reach other part of network again since the "true" chain is the chain/block with biggest hashrate while in PoS there's no way to determine which chain is "true". CMIIW.

I have some confusion, What types of attacks are getting discussed here for which it is easier to attack POS then POW (leave bitcoin network when giving example of POW).
I think if a big miner decide than all the newly started POW coin can be easily attacked by the raw mining power.
1898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sprouts🌱(SPRTS) - Revival Cryptocurrency with Hardfork [PoW/PoS] on: May 21, 2018, 02:34:12 PM

I got myself a fair size bag of SPRTS early on and have done very well out of it, I am unsure what is going to happen now, what with all this swap, and fork nonsense going on. I personally do not think its a great idea, but that being said what ever they do will will get SPRTS noticed again.

From a selfish point of view I am happy with what I have now, I have staked far in excess of what I ever bought, I have cashed our enough SPRTS to cover my initial investment so what ever happens I am in profit.

I am seriously half tempted to take the old chain on if they fork it and continue with SPRTS as we know it now, with possibly a few tweaks added here and there, but I have co-deved enough coins over the years and understand its a large commitment taking on coins, and my real live job takes up a fair bit of my time.

But we shall see what happens I'm unconvinced we will fork to be honest.

TT

That was your advantage as early investor but I am thinking about future of this coin. They do not mention what is the new changed POS after correction.

Changed POS rate and its future use both determine its future.

Can you tell me how many millions/billion required for successful staking
1899  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Question about LN routing at 1 Million TPS on: May 21, 2018, 02:27:09 PM
From where is you get that LN use the Onion routing (It did not read anything about it that says it uses onion routing).

I think might it be some kind of multiple integrated Bus Network , in which these Bus can interact with each other.

Even if it use onion routing, then instead of giving a single path, why cannot we give a list of node  on each layer and it will transmit from  any one of the healthy nodes available in the path.
1900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sprouts🌱(SPRTS) - Revival Cryptocurrency with Hardfork [PoW/PoS] on: May 21, 2018, 01:45:29 PM
Sorry folks,  2 Noob questions

1.  what is the current version of the SPRTS wallet?

2.  Should I buy SPRTS from coinexchange.io now or wait for the Fork

Thank you, and sorry for asking noob questions.

1. v0.1.2.2-gd0cbc83

2. Completely up to you. Sprouts is basically worthless so you can buy millions and not even phase your dogecoin stash.

Thank you for the reply back

...and I love your answer to my second question.  LOL.

Based on your experience,  any suggestion for a POS coin for passive income?

I would suggest old school POS coins with a proven track record, my self I use SWING, 808, HYP, INSN, and SPRTS amongst others, but those are my most consistent at delivering a passive income as you call it.
I'm going to take another look at ORB soon but have been out of that coin for 12 mths now so need to reread up on it before investing again
But as with everything crypto do your own due diligence because whats works for one person may not work for another.

TT

But overall what is the usage of the SPRTS, I think only thing interest people that somebody can buy millions of them without hurting the DOGE stash.
But in the end that million of SPRTS are waste if it has no use case.

I agree , it is giving passive income but there should be some use of this trillion coin supply.
