ah, big players, whales and other mythical beings.

well, market does not give a fukk about them.

...until they paint the ticker. What if some big player in accumulation mode is buying directly from pools/OTC, maybe with the 'excuse' that is an ETF/institutional investors who wants just 'clean'/virgin coins. They would use an exchange price as reference so the accumulator would have a big incentive to sell some on the exchanges while buying more OTC to buy as low as possible.

occam's razor says no.

Gotta love the smell of panic in the morning.

Capitulation?  No.  Dip..?  Yep.

'The end'?  Oh please, get a grip!

Buying - looking nice and cheap to me.  Accumulation is the game, play it.  The big money is.

Fair enough. This is the best level to accumulate at, though? I could see it as a good long term play. But Huobi is bear flagging as we speak, and we are simply pausing on a major support, not even bouncing after a first wave down. I'd think we're at least going to the next support level.... 520-530. But very possibly 400s.

I have no crystal ball - but this drop to the 555 level led to the same sentiment very recently and we did drift back up to the 590s.

I think price support at under 550 will be huge.  You could argue this is 'what we need' but I think a massive capitulation will not happen because we are too close to the end of summer and too many (off-market) big players don't want it 'too low'.

ah, big players, whales and other mythical beings.

well, market does not give a fukk about them.

The coin volume has been incredibly low for months - and if miners sell direct to hedge funds, which makes sense, then we are watching the tip of the iceberg.  The waves look big, but most of the coins are not in the market and much of the trade is off market.

Go figure - this is the Wall Observer Thread, but whatever happened to 10,000 BTC walls..?

The money is not in the market, thus small moves can have disproportionate effects.

Real moves will bring it back, but it's not happening right now and has not been for some time.

as far as I am concerned, miners sell direct to bitstamp. I dont know where did those "hedge funds" come from, nor do I care.

volume is low because there are a lot of bag holders, and no buying support.

ZOMG Bitcoin fell $10!  What happened, did China ban Bitcoin!?  Shocked

no, they are just dumping it.

rpietila mentioned 470 few days ago. masterluc noticed a bearish divergence.

where are you guys placing your bids? high 400?

Rpietila, just like every other person here, has no clue where the price will go.

yes, but at least rpietila got more than enough coins to make a decent call and influence the market.

Where does Bitfury get their cheap electricity?

fonzie, did you close your longs? Cheesy

in the other news: litecoin going down. not quite news actually.

1909  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: August 09, 2014, 10:57:47 AM
I am with masterluc on this one.

I see a lot of selling pressure on stamp. Someone is trying hard to keep the price above 580 $ mark, but someone is unloading big time.

I just cant see us breaking 620 any time soon.
1910  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 09, 2014, 10:49:27 AM
I hope it goes to 470 to give a gleaning point.

As much as I'd hate to see Bitcoin go to the $400s again, I also think that this would we a much needed fresh start, to be honest... Although I'd much rather see a nice breakout from where we are now, to up north!

Maybe we are stuck in this upper $500s to lower $600s for a reason  - and that is that there is just NOT enough people willing to sell into the lower $500s anymore... and in that regard, it just does NOT seem too likely that BTC prices are going into the lower $500s anymore absent some pretty big time negative news.

I mean, I do NOT even know where Risto is getting this $470 from .. or even imaginging that $470 is possible... Maybe he is just saying $470 to troll us - b/c he really does NOT believe $470 is in the realm of real probabilities?

big miners sell no matter what.

they will sell it for 300 if needed to cover the electricity.
1911  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 08, 2014, 10:05:43 AM

Huobi is on fire

bitstamp too, but in the opposite direction.
1912  Economy / Speculation / Re: Geez! You know this chart, guys?! on: August 07, 2014, 04:18:35 PM
The "anotomy of the buble" chart is a different one - sorry!

Nope. The other chart is for plain dumpers, without any further skills, like fontas or mmitech.

whose alter dumper ego are you?

 Cheesy

Yet another case of a failed asic company.
Nobody knows how to make asics - all that digital junk  Sad
Analog electronic is the only thing that works properly, someone should make a analog miner  Smiley

"Please put down the crack pipe and
step away from the microphone, sir!"

+1

Indeed! Smiley

Aside from some pricing and delivery tricks (but who doesn't want to extract the most $ per chip) - they've been one of the better ASIC companies!

Let's see if the rumors about a new Bitfury chip turn out to be true!

what rumors? Smiley

my bitfury gear is still hashing, btw.
1917  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 04, 2014, 08:06:23 AM
580$ is the new launch pad, no one seems to be willing to sell below anymore! Walls will be removed and/or get demolished soon! Ready to lift off!

800$ INCOMING !!!!!!

Are you just trolling us? Or has fonzie really turned bullish? Smiley

I'm targeting $750-800 level, so that sounds good to me....

he didnt turn bullish, he just bought some coins hoping for quick profit.
1918  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 04, 2014, 07:41:57 AM
what about old S1 controllers?

There was a bounty thread somewhere around here for making old S1 working with rPi. My S1 is still profitable, and I would like to maybe upgrade them soon with S3 blades.

Bitmain mentioned that they will sell upgrade kits.
1919  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: July 20, 2014, 10:04:36 AM
I've got a Rk-Box, and I wanted to make sure I have done all the tricks. I have never gotten it below 10% error rates. It seems other people have higher hash rates than I do, and that's kinda frustrating. I've used rockminer's cgminer and tried their raspberry pi image, changed around frequencies, and I even replaced their USB hub with my own (no difference).  Here's what I get:

300M Freq: 456 Gh/s, 11-12% error for ~405 Gh/s poolside
320M Freq: 478 Gh/s, 17-20% error for ~395 Gh/s poolside
350M Freq: 475 Gh/s, ~14% error for ~405 Gh/s poolside

I've played with it for a week now, and haven't gotten better. Anybody with better specs have any additional tricks? Or did I just get a poorly performing box?

What Firmware are you running? If you are on the most recent, you should be seeing less than 5% rejects and ~475 Gh/s avg.

My RK-Box R-Pi seems to be rebooting daily as well. The timer was up to about 16 hours last night...back down to 5+ hours this morning  Undecided
Well ive been running mine for about 14hrs and I worked out hardware rate to be around 16%.
Formula I used was 100 x HW /Accepted shares. It seems to be averaging 460 - 480GHs with the 320 setting.
How do I check which firmware the RK box is. Ive got it connected directly to pc and not using a pi at all.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure how to check firmware on windows. I was under the impression firmware is only for raspberry pi linux using the WebUI.

Why did you do 100 x HW in your formula?

Let me know how you make out.

Funny thing... I've switched raspberry pi's and now all I keep getting is failure comm errors on this new RPI Sad Boards go zombie then they kick back in on cgminer.

change the usb cables, and/or the usb hub. I was getting similar errors, and I solve it by changing the usb hub.
