1921  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I want to mine on my Oven' NEMA 14-50r on: February 26, 2016, 01:55:02 AM
It's been a interesting read and sounds like project is going well.  Which is cool news.

Once you do get a miner plugged into it please share  a picture.  I would love to see how it comes out.

Hopefully, it won't be a picture of a Bonfire. I'll probably start plugging the AMTubes and if everything goes well i'll take a pic and think of what to add next. I'm guessing the GPUs rigs would be a good pic since they would be quiet in the kitchen. But then again the S5's are already running from outside the sound proof box.

Then after that i'll have to think about how to find someone that can add an outlet in the bedroom where i'm moving to soon. Since i'd rather not do it myself. But i suspect adding an outlet count as "Modifying" an apartment?

With it being an apartment I don't think you will get away with modifying it that much.  But each lease is so different really depends on yours, when I rented I never had much freedom as far as changing big things.  Also depending where you live there is also some ordinances that you have to have certain certifications or bonded, etc.  So kinda a mix of a few things.

Hopefully you luck out and can modify it some.  My last one I was not even allowed to change door knob when one broke, I had call the apartment complex... and they took care of it.  Luckily no longer renting so lot easier.

Truly amazing to watch bitwisdom:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    163,491,654,909
Estimated Next Difficulty:    159,573,299,963 (-2.40%)
Adjust time:    After 1132 Blocks, About 8.4 days
Hashrate(?):    1,104,274,198 GH/s

I did not think we would go negative.  And now showing over 2 percent negative.... I don't know what to think.  I feel like speculation right now is like throwing a dart at board.  That there is not any good true speculation.

nah  you just need to see what we have been shown from nov 2015 to feb 2016 to know there is 80 to 150ph on the sidelines that gets powered on and off.

we had this mystery hash stay online for one really long stretch of time jan 22 to feb 14 hash rates went fucking nuts.

It was  turned off  for the first 800 blocks this jump,     but this last day maybe some came back on line.  we did  155 blocks or so

The good thing is every if a push of 10 % happens for a while  since we are neg 2.5%  we may only have a plus 5% at worst.

I really hope the worst does not happen.  we will see soon enough.

@ virsosaGits  I think you are still in the game with that pick of 4.2

I still see it as hard with it being so secretive.  For all we know some 16NM's were sold and moving locations.  There are countless ideas I can come up with that possibly could be effecting it.

But I could be over complicating it.   Hopefully I am and the drop keeps going, and your right about we will see soon enough.
1923  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: February 26, 2016, 01:44:48 AM
S9 is at least months away.  IMO after halving and then some.  but who knows.  we hear about the next gen miners, but so far nothing real has come up to the public it seems.  unless someone can confirm otherwise.  I was wondering, does anybody know what the resell value of an s7 is ?  And would that resell value rise once bitmain stops selling them ?

The problem on resell value is each batch keeps getting cheaper and cheaper.  Right now batch 11's are tad over 700 dollars.  And some have gotten shipped.  So I think they dropped from around 900 or so to closer to 700 now.  And if not already there they will be soon as far as resell.

It's hard to say in a month what it will be.  Highly connected to each new batches price.

1925  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: February 26, 2016, 01:39:53 AM
I finally decided to upgrade my S3+ to an S5 because I found one used for about what I paid for my S3+ used.  I only run 1 machine at home due to electricity costs, and new hardware is just too expensive for me to justify buying for a hobby.

Question: I've scanned through several threads but cannot find a simple, definitive answer to "the best" fan(s) to use.  I want it to be quieter than the 70db stock fan, but I want it to stay cool, too (about 25*C ambient).  Could anyone recommend me a fan or push/pull fan combo to use?  Thanks.
I used a pair of Noctua iPPC 3000rpm pwm fans in push/pull.  I set the fan control at 80% (with slight OC for extra hash goodness) and it kept @60c or lower.  MUCH quieter than the stock fan, but that's not saying much, is it??

Not really stock is hot and loud.  That is just what a stock S5 is, for better or worse.

Even the best modded S5 I still don't think will touch under clocked Avalon 4.1.  That is the most quiet modern miner I think out there.   And I have played with a lot of different miners.  (No not including like stick miners in this, just big full size miners).

Does Bitmain have the NEW S9 fully developed and installed in their Farm?

When would they be releasing the S9 to the public?

Intriguing thoughts!

What are your thoughts?

BITMAIN, you are welcome to chime in.

im very sure they will release kind of s7+ first... maybe 10THs @ ~2000w to sell more BM1385īs

IMO they will release S8/S9 only when an competitioner like Bitfury is selling more efficient Chips.

Bitfury already has a more efficient chip available

0.1 j/GH

http://bitfury.com/products

I do like that containerized 16PH mining system they offer ... now only if I could build a nuclear power plant in my back yard ...

LOL- maybe they will give you one to review. Smiley

I honestly don't think we will see one unless proof of concept.  I think most will be interested in investing in true building for data center.  And a LOT of the big guy's already have these big data centers.  I predict they want the gear to go into existing slots, and use existing PSU's.

But this is getting offtopic of Bitmain.  Bitmain I would love to see what they have planned for next gen.  Right now seems S7 is focus though.  And I can see why if you have cheap electricity likely still good gear for quite a while.
1927  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: February 26, 2016, 01:31:04 AM
Nice solar back yard array, I love it!  Do you use it for growing primarily?  Do you get any other mining or home use out of it?

CB radio, ham radio, same thing.
Uh, no, they're completely different frequency bands.

CB radio anyone can use without a license.   Ham Radio you have to pass a test and has multiple tiers.   Ham radio you have a lot more legal bands, but a LOT of rules and regulations to follow.  CB is like a long range 2 way radio.  HAM you can bounce around the world, or even off satellites if you know what your doing.

Also CB radio vs HAM gear.. no comparison in price.  And once you get into antenna's .... it can get crazy expensive.  It's a fun hobby though.

1929  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: February 26, 2016, 01:23:09 AM
same thing here the payment of yesterday is completely missed in the bot hystory, now it simply restarted again with a new payment for the next week

so i'm missing my usual payment, check it plese

Same here. I really hope that the bot has good logs, else Marco will have a lot of ppl to check.

I realize it will be fixed.  But would appreciate an update or something that payment's will go out on X date.  Or something as to what is happening.

Have you thought about adding on a person to watch these payments?   If it does have a problem give this person the ability to manually start bot and pay missed payments.  I think possible an addition of someone who can watch it each week, and has ability to fix it would be a huge jump forward.
1930  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC halving on: February 25, 2016, 09:37:36 PM
Can someone explain the concept of Bitcoin halving? I've found this timer http://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/ so what does it acctualy mean besides the halved rewards for the block? Will it affect the price of bitcoin in some way?

Personally, I think the price can reach at least +50%, ideally it would be +100%, however that wont be immediate.

Merchants and investors have to get used to it, so it might take longer for price doubling.

I agree on not being immediate.  If anything we should see signs before having. With it being known investors know LONG before it is going to happen.  How much though... that is hard to say.

Just impossible to have good speculation that far away.  No one really can give a accurate anwser it's a guess at this point.
1931  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer U3 Minera/low Ghs on: February 25, 2016, 09:31:40 PM
OK so I hooked up my 2x Antminer U3s ive left them a few hours and 1 is running at like 53 ghs and the other is 26Ghs

any ideas why, and if any how do I correct this

Hope someone can help.

Do they both have original power brick?   Have you tried swapping PSU's between the two to see what it does?

Just hard to say, not a whole lot of info do we have to help.
1932  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 25, 2016, 09:25:01 PM
And what do they mean by gridseed miner?

What does who mean?  Can you point to a link of this?

I just am not seeing gridseed being referenced.
1933  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: February 25, 2016, 09:23:48 PM
S7's heating up some seedlings for garden.

Seems to be solar for the light.  Grin Great setup! Working on doing something like that.

My ghetto array set up..

Tell honest, you own a CB Radio Right!?

I think you mean ham radio.... and I will admit I have a license for it Smiley.  Don't know if he does but don't knock it till you have tried it Smiley
1934  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Examples and pictures of <100$ mining rigs on: February 25, 2016, 09:21:30 PM
Actually, bitshopper is a licensed EU manufacturer. He builds and sells, rather than buys and resells.
Sorry! Thanks for correcting me. Haven't checked the info about gekkos for a while. I remembered that they resold, but in reality they build.

I bought one of them off of him event though I'm in US.  I wanted to complete my set.   He was very nice to work with, and went above and beyond to find a shipping option that did not cost a fortune.

It is a little higher with being EU.  But still a great stick miner if you need one.
1935  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: February 25, 2016, 09:18:28 PM
Because his 'company' is already dead?

So what is his motive then? Why doesn't he just walk away from Bitcoin and focus on something new? That doesn't make sense.

I think motive is hardware is not being released.  It's been a LONG time since any info on SP50 all we ever got was a rendering.   Now we a thread filled with non hardware items.

I still stand by instead of this turning into a news/meet up thread.  Seeing hardware would be great.
1936  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: CPU Mining Profit Estimation on: February 25, 2016, 09:10:59 PM
I think the other posters summed it up nicely... If you insist on mining with your CPU, altcoins are your only option.
I'd personally go for ETH or Magicoin, but you'd need to study the market beforehand.

An other option is to use your server for other stuff... For example, install OpenVZ on it, and rent out VPS's. I think you'll make a lot more money splitting your server up in 20-30 VPS's and rent them out for 0.005-0.01BTC a month than you'll make mining altcoins (offcourse, mining altcoins can bring you a lot of profit, but in this case it depends on luck instead of calculations)

VPS mining is hard to make money off of.  I don't believe the math of it being profitable unless you show more details.  It's just VPS mining did not last long on profitability.  Also VPS that are cheap a lot of time don't allow mining, they have in TOS about excessive usage.  And mining run's CPU's hard so a lot of bargin VPS's you get kicked off for mining.

Have you done this?  Can you point to a VPS that math works out to a profit?  I just don't see it.
1937  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining and the Halving on: February 25, 2016, 09:07:15 PM
What do you think it will be the impact of the halving on mining?

If the price does not increase after the halving, some less efficient miners will be out of the market. But the hash rate will not decrease due to the more efficient miners.

The way difficulty was moving it was already doing this to normal electricity priced people.   Difficulty made it hard for last generation gear, I was better off selling it then mining.  So I did sell last gen miners.

I think you will be surprised on amount of miners that will sell at least last gen before having.  And it's not like having is sneaking up on us we know it's coming.   So many factor this in ROI charts.
1938  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin mining profitability on: February 25, 2016, 09:01:47 PM
Looking for Bitcoin mining profitability source of information which gives new miners idea about which coin to mine
Much be reliable source

Thanks

You have a LOT of reading to do.  This entire section is to mining Bitcoin, not altcoins.   And I don't think there really is a sha256 altcoin worth mining over BTC.   So pretty much you will mine BTC.

If you really want alt coin's then they do sell some scrypt asics... but a lot of it is dated.    So I would do BTC myself, and also check on ROI math before investing, it's becoming a hard game to get into.
You also have to be very careful when buying scrypt asics because if you don't do the math correctly you might end up losing a lot.

Most Scrypt asics are getting dated to.  There just is not near as much R/D in this sector as BTC miners.    I cant think of name there was one that made a dual... and decided to keep them all internal.

So a lot of the gear if someone releases a half way new one... they will just be blown away.  Heck A2's are still decent now they have LONG live past where I thought they would

Bitwisdom looking pretty nice:
Bitcoin Difficulty:    163,491,654,909
Estimated Next Difficulty:    160,680,904,929 (-1.72%)
Adjust time:    After 1157 Blocks, About 8.5 days
Hashrate(?):    1,096,049,195 GH/s

Price at around 423.  So really not to bad of a week if this continues.  I would be super happy to see a negative.
1940  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 19 to Mar 3? picks are open.... prize = 0.2 btc on: February 25, 2016, 05:45:04 AM
This is quite an impressive drop but we are only talking for a few days, let's hope it we keep it low for at least one diff ! Tongue

We need a good drop. Say  -1.11%

I wish we knew how many batch 11's have been shipped on S7's.   Some shifted to new owners don't know if it was -1.11 percent.  But some has to be due to batch 11's starting to ship.

But I agree it is a welcome sign to see compared to 20ish that was going crazy.
