1921  Other / Meta / Re: How are we expected to rank up? on: August 24, 2020, 09:36:34 PM
Hello I'm a new user to this forum and I've been a lurker for quite some time before making an account. I decided it's time for me to start posting and contributing to the forums and hopefully learn more. One thing I noticed is the progression for new accounts seems incredible stunted to what used to exist, according to some users. How are new users expected to rank up with the current rules? Does anyone have any experience ranking up in this newer rank system?

Your first post is about ranking up? Don't you think your priorities are a bit backwards? Your rank is not holding you up from contributing to the forum. If you really need some high-rank features - buy a Copper membership. If you need something basic like posting images - create a post with those images and I'm sure some kind soul will send you one merit to make them show up if the post is worth it.
It's funny how he wanted to help contributing to the forum but he's asking how to rank up before anything else lol.
The only disadvantage that a newbie account has is the image posting, but you can just have image link.
I think what you really want is to rank up to make some money in here. hmmm.

1923  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Google Opens The Door To Mass Cryptocurrency Adoption on: August 23, 2020, 08:44:32 PM
Its better if Google fix their system to filter scam/phishing sites and remove scam/malware app on google play first.
I don't know how they are gonna fix this coz in some instance they even promoting a scam website lol just pay their price and they let the website to scam people. I think website screening should be done manually by the book so they could avoid promoting shitty websites designed for scamming, it won't get flagged unless a person or two gets scammed and reported that site.

I wonder why google want to use NWC token besides BTC or ETH? Or google hate BTC and ETH  Huh
I don't think they hate BTC or ETH, but it would be a lot easier if they got their own coin for a single purpose, it would be hard if they depend on separate blockchain such as BTC and ETH. Easier for them if it runs centralized.
1924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: key safety strategies? on: August 23, 2020, 08:17:27 PM
What's wrong with Ledger? Hardware wallets are generally the safest that you can get if you're not a very tech-savvy person and it's practically idiot proof if you don't type your seeds into random places.
Totally agree, if we are talking about storing keys hardware wallets would be the topmost in the list. I like what you called it "idiot-proof" lol. But this thing might costs you around $100 to $200, if you don't have this you better storing your keys offline.

Hardware wallets are designed to store the keys only within the device itself and you can connect it to compromised computers without much problem (ideally not).
And also don't be an idiot acquiring hardware wallet on a random seller in the internet, they will sell you in a lower price but the hardware wallet is tampered or worst has a malware use in stealing funds. Either you have it or not, the safest way is to have a common sense.
1925  Economy / Economics / Re: The number of jobless people has crossed one million in US - worrying sign? on: August 23, 2020, 07:46:09 PM

Furthermore the Democrats have continued to blame Trump for the economic mess that US is currently facing, but the voters yet believe in his ability to stabilise the economy.

Trump has nothing to do with the economic mess caused by the lockdowns and the pandemic.
On the other hand,Trump is completely helpless and unable to stabilize the economy, because the fiscal and monetary stimulus packs are pretty much wasted and more stimulus packs might lead to problems with the US foreign debt and the stability of the US dollar.
Now it has reach 1 million, I think they will accept the economy collapse in the future years of USA coz most likely they are going to have an another batch of stimulus checks that will slows down their slow recovery. As this will be highly to occur, expect the more weakening of the dollar. In my local currency dollar is -8% in conversion rate, freaking high in terms of currency volatility.

Joe Biden will be pretty much helpless as well,if he becomes the next US president.
I think the pandemic won't end in November where the election is set to occur, is there any possibility that it will be delayed? I don't think online election won't work.  Undecided
1926  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Paano natin i angat ang local at makatulong. on: August 23, 2020, 07:04:25 PM
I always check this section every time, syempre need ko rin ng update ng movement sa bansa natin when it comes to crypto related subjects and sa totoo lang mas naeexpress ko dito yung mga idea ko especially when the topic is really interesting and timely. What I see these days is that hindi tayo masyadong active sa local board natin, isa sa mga nakikita kong dahilan ay ang mga signature campaign na pino-prohibit ang pagpopost sa local board.

Sa opinyon ko masyadong general itong idea na ito, broad sya for close discussion since nabanggit mo ang merit and rank system, usaping gobyerno at paggawa ng projects. Might as well mag focus ka muna sa iilan for clearer discussion.
1927  Other / Meta / Re: Merit count on: August 23, 2020, 06:38:33 PM
I think what is more important is the merit value, I mean the user who gave it to you means a lot. Quantity over quality.
Imo, all merits earned have the same value. Sure, some users are more tech/politically/economically... savvy than others, and it would be more difficult to impress them, but for anyone to merit your post naturally (i.e without any incentive) then they found your contribution helpful and that is a net positive for the forum, whether they are a newbie, or a woke up account.
I think what he's trying to say is that someone in a higher rank's merit is valuable than the others, well if you think of that it's making sense obviously, some people are hard to convince with your idea or opinion, you can't impress them easily that's why he said that. I don't really expect for a merit every time I comment or post, literally an incentive for me but I'm really trying to post an honest and quality posts.
And if someone who is reputable in the forum merits you, it's like you just tamed a dragon.

Getting merits from certain members is dependent on what interests them, you could be very active in the altcoins section for example, a board which most members ignore due to the high level of spam, so getting merits from certain profiles there is impossible, regardless of whether or not your contributions are helpful, but it's still commendable when you get them from others.
I will rate getting merits in certain boards where they're hard to come by, over getting them from select profiles, but that's just me.
That's what he's really trying to say actually, "the user who gave it to you would mean a lot" that's what he's trying to say the Merit Value.
1928  Local / Pilipinas / Re: More online stores, less tax generated on: August 23, 2020, 05:49:40 PM
Mga kumikita ng 250k php up ang magkakatax so makatarungan padin siguro for both small and big businesses.

yo you're on the same page where I call some people "headline only reader" yung mga may judgment agad kahit hindi sila fully aware pero madami na agad kuda. Now small businesses have a better deal, first readings pa lang naman kumbaga mungkahi pa lamang at pinagaaralan pa naman ang mga batas na ipapatupad about dito. But for the taxes, I think kailangan talaga naten makalikom at makakita ng bagong pagkukuna nito lalo na sa panahong ngayong ang buong bansa ay nahihirapan dahil sa pandemya.

I got most of the answers that I needed, the discussion about the topic is nicely debated. I'm locking this thread to avoid duplicated ideas. Thank you!
1929  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Virtual/Practice Trading on: August 23, 2020, 04:54:11 PM
There's plenty of exchanges that offers a demo account with their platform, mostly they have 3 options to give you when you registered as demo account, The Intro: for beginner, Average: for intermediate, and advance:for pros. I didn't get any experience from this, or to trade using demo account but every time you are selecting each option there is a change of user interface probably for the users to experience most of what they have chose level of trading.

But Imma say, be careful from these as other exchanges have demo accounts but the market volume was manipulated, you get an instant win every time but then when you enter the real time market trading you don't have any idea what's going on. In short those feature was just for user attraction. BE CAREFUL!
1930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and crypto currencies are getting dangerous on: August 23, 2020, 03:31:45 PM
DEX is the future of crypto exchange. If you trade crypto in centralized exchange (kyc is needed there), it means you are no more in control of your own asset.
I want to agree however that isn't what I'm seeing right now as we go on with fully regulated coins coming from any direction plus the government's approach on cryptocurrencies nowadays is so tight. What differs from these exchanges, aside from having or having no kyc is that CEX has a middleman function providing another level of security. Now if you think that you could lose all your keys, then try to go with CEX.

You are keeping your money into their hand. Just use dex. You will have full control upon your asset.
Dex could be hard to handle for some users, especially for beginners since the transaction is happening through smart contracts, in short all trades are peer-to-peer.
1931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New User - Problems Understanding Bitcoins Validity on: August 23, 2020, 02:50:19 PM
What I see is a non-competitive services that you got there, you should have done it more popular way with more popular services provider to avoid the hassle that you went through. I never use a card whenever I'm dealing with crypto, I don't really want to connect centrally with the banks or government, as much as possible I want myself covered from any light though I'm doing legal activities. You should have just created a bitcoin wallet and deposit to make another deposit to the gambling platform.
1932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting: how much knowledge is too much on: August 22, 2020, 04:53:44 PM
Knowing more than the odds of who is going to win is essential, but it's not guarantee you anything. You are more likely to win with educated bet than just basing your bet to the odds of the team. Let me give an example, let's say you're not a fan of NBA or you're not watching NBA at all but you trip to bet between two teams, uhmm let's say Lakers vs Golden State Warriors, now you're not aware of the player on the ground that is playing on that game, say lakers got their starting 5 completely, warriors got Klay and Iguodala injured but there's Curry so the odds would not be that far. Who you between these 2 team? if you're wary of what's happening most likely you'll bet on the Lakers with Lebron and Davis duo plus green? and dwight? you'll probably know what's gonna happen next.
1933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mind Blown Gambling Facts on: August 22, 2020, 03:51:50 PM
24, 28, 34 and 44 are very funny! This facts are mind blown indeed.
Even monkeys will pay for sexual pleasures.
Well we still have the idea that we, humans might be just a monkey evolution coz of all the animals we are mostly alike to monkeys in terms of appearance and some bone structures.

I've read a same story like the no. 34, but it is quite different coz he's not part of any syndicate at all. He won the lottery, he bets all the combination, instructed people to distribute the combinations and won around 10% of what he spent, then he gave his people their part. I forgot the whole story but it goes like that.

44 is very funny, but man if someone teases me with $100,000 to do that I'll definitely do it  Grin lol
1934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Los Alamos National Laboratory is building an anti crypto mining AI on: August 22, 2020, 03:02:24 PM
First time that I heard about an AI trying to spot a malware used for crypto jacking. It says it also focus on supercomputers but maybe it could also be implemented for desktop as well. Good if they could develop and make improvements, but they admit that this graph based approach couldn't capture all scenarios.

How hard can it be to detect that you computer is under full load even when idle or just doing some non-intensive tasks? Your fans will get louder, you might notice some heat, your performance will slow down.
slow downs of processing might give you an idea that your computer is under mining phase by the hackers, software checking is the best way to get those bastards be seen. Does a simple anti-virus can't detect malicious software like this? I mean I think we should be getting an upgrade for our anti-virus to detect heavy usage such as crypto mining. What do you think of this?

And even for supercomputers, I doubt that AI is requires or is the best solution. They too can measure their load and detect suspicious processes, and if that is not enough, they can target crypto mining specifically, as it should leave a specific signature.
But if the hacker is smart enough, attacking supercomputer will be easier if it can't detect a malicious software, he can just set the mining to minimum and since the supercomputer can mine faster I think that would not be noticeable at all.
1935  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bangko Sental ng Pilipinas on Crypto adoption on: August 21, 2020, 09:17:09 PM

What are the significant differences ba if ma-fully/totally legalize 'tong cryptocurrency sa bansa natin ngayon? I mean we seem very fine naman on using it, just like anybody else.

No biggie problems, threats on getting bitcoin ban and whatnot. And parang hindi rin naman agad-agad mag-bu-boom 'yong dami ng mga gumagamit dito if may sudden shift sa mga ganiyan bagay   Grin. Well anyway, it is still good to hear such news though.
1936  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest winner during COVID? on: August 21, 2020, 08:17:35 PM
Welcome to the capital intensive, high productivity economy of the XXI century.
Labour used to be cheap, now it is cheaper in China.
Technology has a massive scale factor. Bigger is better.
I think labour become cheaper because of the machine, they are just putting the man's work because they need to produce job for people. Years from now we'll have much higher unemployment rate from growing population and improving technology every year. A 5 man job could do by a single machine with 1 man operating to it.

The biggest winner here, though we can't tell that the pandemic is a blessing but we can't deny the growth of the huge companies that you have said, still they got the benefit out of this problem.
Seems the situation is getting lighter, but can't still tell now where are we heading.
1937  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: For beginners what is technical analysis on: August 21, 2020, 07:40:32 PM
What is the point of translating an article that already has a translation on the source’s site in English?
https://academy.binance.com/economics/what-is-technical-analysis

very futile indeed.

I was about to clap at him for 'creating' this article but it says "translated from source - LINK" lol google already did the work so what are you trying to imply?
I think what you did there is you just corrected the basic grammar mistakes as google translation is not 100% accurate. Despite of what you've done it is not as what you said 'translation'.
1938  Other / Meta / Re: Will this be sufficient proof? No, so? on: August 21, 2020, 06:53:19 PM
meh those charts are made out of nowhere, credibility is zero so mostly people here think that it is just a self made chart, nothing much you can gain from it. Besides who else wanna give a self made chart a real readings?

you know how telegram for scammers work these days, I just use telegram for legit channels or just to read some announcement nothing more of looking some charts. pff.
1939  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is it necessary to create an ANN thread? on: August 21, 2020, 05:38:07 PM
I just wanted to ask most of the users lately are asking if a certain casino is legitimate or not and some are asking why a crypto based casino does not open an Announcement thread here on the forum. Is it really necessary that a crypto casino or sports betting website needed to open an Announcement thread here?

Do they "need" to, no.  But would it hurt them, no.  Its all about advertising and getting people onto a particular site you are running, in this case a crypto online casino.  What better way to advertise than a FREE post on a crypto forum that has tons of active users in a crypto gambling sub thread.  It just makes sense to do so there is no reason not to.  But if not it doesn't delegitimize them either just bad marketing in my eyes
It is about building reputation, so Ann thread is important especially for new online casino who want to make a name in the industry. Look at the most successful online casinos nowadays, where they have good Ann thread and a lot of people are aware and interested to use it because of it. Creating ann thread is a marketing strategy where it can help to create good image and reputation.
I must say that the ANN thread is a helpful tool to build the platform's reputation. The ANN thread reflects the hard work of the advertising team, how they wanna commit to the industry and how things are going under their sight. Separate thread for the announcement will also keep the the work neat and clean especially when you have campaign in the forum, you can just redirect some people asking question with a simple ANN thread link.
1940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you lost money on Bitcoin you either bought in the red or you didn't hodl on: August 21, 2020, 04:36:19 PM
Just buy and forget, leave the trading to the risk takers. Not only your wealth will be preserved, but if you compare it to keeping it in fiat, you will no doubt feel that it "grew"  (more like fiat is losing value every day).
I don't know how many of people here uses Bitcoin to take risk in Day trading but what i believe is they usually buy altcoin compared to Bitcoin.
There are lot of people in here that uses bitcoin in day trading because it is the most volatile coin in the market where they can easily lose or gain profit. Day trading in altcoins is less profitable when doing it with bitcoin especially in coins that is less popular than ETH, XRP, etc.

and why need to rush for Bitcoin since this proven to have gaining price eventually every after falling?
Because others are afraid of being left behind, and for the count, when you do buy and sell bitcoin you can maximize on gaining from it rather than safely holding it.

i would rather buy and forget than checking the market each day to see what is happening to your Bitcoin.

No such thing as a red. The only losing occurs if you sell, so don't.
Currency will stay fair until we decide to sell off,so why sell when you know that your at lose?when we can wait for some time to recover again and then we can sell in profit?
Other people tend to have a weak mind in this industry, bitcoin is very controversial currency coz it is decentralized it is still possible to get back to 0 if people in the network cut it off.
Some people are selling to avoid more losses especially when they badly need the money, can't blame them for that.
