There is virtually zero chance that the India vs Netherlands match will take place. One of my friends just called me and told that it is raining continuously for the last 6-7 hours. It doesn't look like an easy win for India. Nepal could've chased the target and won the match, if India have scored around 160-180 runs. India had the best batting line-up, from the opening order it was the players who had performed great in the IPL. Nepal competed well scoring 179/9 and no solid performance from the batters, but the scoring is good. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi bowled well giving break at the right time. If they get regular opportunities to play against the top teams (like in the Asia Cup), they will improve a lot and could be the next big cricket team in Asia. They have some good batters in the middle order, particularly Kushal Malla, who is playing good cricket. They only need to improve their opening pair and their bowling.

Yes that makes perfect sense. I have also said before that it will be difficult for a superstar to carry the national team alone. But I hope that in the Haaland era, Norway will have several players who can support Haaland. A superstar will indeed have a big impact on the national team, but support from 10 other players is also needed. Winning a big tournament as a national team will be quite difficult if you don't have teammates who can provide support. This is the same as what Gareth Bale experienced when he was in his prime.
It is not Håland plus 10 ordinary players. At this point, they have one more quality player in addition to Håland. So it is more like Håland + Ødegaard + 9 ordinary players. I won't count Pakistan, just yet despite their recent fuckups. This team is uniquely unpredictable, they have the unique ability to pull a rabbit out of the hat when no one expects anything from them. The opposite outcome is equally true as well. In recent times their fielding has improved drastically but sometimes they do meme type fielding for lols, it's like keeping up the tradition.  Pakistan would have been one of the favorites if they had the trio of Naseem Shah-Shaheen Shah-Haris Rauf in their bowling lineup. But Naseem is out due to injury, and Haris is also not 100% fit. Then the fact that they don't have a quality spinner is going to work against them in the Indian pitches. The batting trio of Babar-Fakhar-Rizwan looks formidable, but in recent matches all three have been in volatile form. And the biggest challenge would be in adjusting to Indian conditions. Unlike players from other teams, Pakistani players don't take part in the IPL and therefore don't have much experience in playing under Indian conditions. |
