I have some ideas for how to mitigate the DDoS, but I might not finish it today.

As someone mentioned earlier, I don't want to use Cloudflare because Cloudflare can see/modify all encrypted traffic, they are a massive central point of failure on the Internet, IMO they probably assist and are supported by the NSA, they only protect against fairly small-scale attacks, and they really make life difficult for Tor users.

The UDP flood is causing high packet loss. What this will look like when browsing the forum is:
 - When you first connect to the forum after not browsing any pages for a while, it might be especially slow, and it might time out. After it completely fails / times out, just keep trying. It will eventually work.
 - After you first connect, browsing should be much smoother because at this point you'll already have a TCP connection open, though it might be a bit slow, and occasionally a page might time out.
 - If the page times out while posting, press the refresh button in your browser and accept any warning it gives you. Keep trying until it goes through.

I guess that's why browsing with Tor was an horrible experience yesterday, since Tor constantly changes IP and doesn't save any data of the websites it was like starting from scratch all the time.

Im using Tor right now and I can confirm that the forum is smooth again, let's hope it lasts.
1922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1111111111111111111111111111 can you get more 1 than mine? on: November 01, 2016, 11:47:13 AM
Would it be possible to have an address that's only 1's? like 1111111111111111111111111111? Now that would be crazy.

Anyway vanity addresses are not a good idea imo. You want your addresses to look as boring as possible, you don't want easily recognizable addresses because that can only lower your privacy in any case.
1923  Other / Meta / Re: New services subforum for Signature Campaigns? on: October 31, 2016, 01:27:37 PM
I use Services to find work usually, But lately it is becoming a pain to navigate or find anything due to the amount of signature campaigns.

Signature Campaign is not a service, its selling ads for small money.

Signature campaign is still work, even tho the pay is low, and it's a service that someone is requesting from people in order to spread their websites, so technically there is no difference from hiring some guy to post in order to get your website out there and get some traffic going to hiring some guy to engineer a super complex software for thousands of dollars...

In any case, it may be a good idea to separate signature campaigns from the rest anyway, since a lot of people is only interested in the signature campaigns which is a nice way to get your first bitcoins and learn how the software works by sending real transactions, without having to resort to the depressingly low amount that faucets pay.
1924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why trading is better than gambling? on: October 31, 2016, 12:41:39 PM
With trading, you can make reasonable predictions based on past performance, on the qualities of the asset, on the global geopolitical and economical context... those variables help you shape a more accurate outcome. For example, it is reasonable to think that 1 year from now, Bitcoin will be higher than it is today.

Now, with gambling, it's just random, and you must deal with pure raw odds. This is in my opinion harder to deal with it, since there is no context, just pure odds and math.
1925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 205: Alvarez vs McGregor Prediction and Info Thread on: October 31, 2016, 12:34:55 PM
I find it surprising that Mcgregor has a long term relationship with the same girl now that he is rich and famous and can get any model he wants. Im used to seeing all those rich fights with a lot of girls so I expected him to act like Mayweather (he is always hanging out with tons of different girls)
Anyway let's hope he is back into the game soon. Some people get rusty after long breaks and never reach their 100% again.
His girlfriend was with him when he was a nobody and its not that surprising that he is sticking into this relationship because when you are rich you will get many girls but the ones who are with you when you are nothing ,those girls are pretty rare to come by

Indeed, it's good to be with a girl that was with you since you where a no one, the question tho still remains: Would she still be with you for this long if your MMA career turned out a failure and you ended up working in McDonalds instead? You never know, that is why I can't have long term relationships, im paranoid that the girl would leave you if you aren't successful. Connor was probably making constant progress since years ago and she knew she would end up fighting against the best... anyway I wish him best of luck and hope we can see the Diaz trilogy complete.
1926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Block Size Debate, finally an ideal solution: Bitcoin Unlimited on: October 31, 2016, 11:59:58 AM
If only it was that easy as "going unlimited", then we would be doing it already. But as everything not only in software engineering but in life, there are drawbacks and compromises you take when going a certain direction. Bitcoin unlimited has been already refuted as an optimal way to scale, just search for the posts containing "unlimited" on this forum by gmaxwell or "nullc" in reddit, its a good way to learn.
1927  Other / Meta / Bitcoin updated to 0.13.1 but forum still shows 0.13.0 as latest on: October 31, 2016, 11:57:38 AM
Im talking about the "News: Latest stable version of Bitcoin Core: 0.13.0  [Torrent]." bar above.

When will this get updated? A lot of people pay attention to that News section in the forum and they may think 0.13.1 is still not out (yeah it's hard if you browse reddit but believe it or not a lot of people don't). I think it's important to keep this up to date.
1928  Other / Meta / Re: Another DDOS ? on: October 31, 2016, 11:54:53 AM
I was able to browse the forum last night without many problems again, but right now it's acting weird again, it takes a couple of F5 (refreshing) until the page shows up, so I guess the problem is still not fully solved.

1930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC FN 98: dos Anjos vs. Ferguson on: October 30, 2016, 04:51:23 PM
McGregor announced a long break after the 205 UFC fight so I dont expect him to fight dos Anjos anytime soon. After the break things may have changed a lot. If Nate Diaz fights and loses maybe the interest in a 3rd fight is lost and he fights him, who knows. We will see what happens. Things change a lot in 1 year in the fighting game. Anyone can get KOd.
1931  Other / Meta / Re: Another DDOS ? on: October 30, 2016, 04:46:09 PM
I can confirm right now that the forum is insanely slow. I use TOR Browser in order to browse this forum at work because they have it blocked with a firewall or something, so it makes it even slower. I tried with a VPN, it's more usable but I dont like to pay for a VPN. Tor was working just fine until today which became super slow. Please help.
How vpn works to you? what vpn you use.. honestly mine is not working i am using flyvpn.. and i am still halving issue even a normal browsing without proxy or vpn.. just like now i just reloading until the page load successful sometime time out or error. .

I have used various, one of the is PIA (private internet access). AirVPN is also decent. Go to reddit, there are VPN reddits and people will help you to choose one, but if you don't want to spend any money, Tor does a good job in this forum (except during this DDos which is sooo slow)
1932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trust in altcoin and cryptocurrencies on: October 30, 2016, 04:44:07 PM
Anyone can make altcoin but only few ICO project is unique. You should avoid these kind of ico where the following things you will see..

1.Stay out when you see a newbie open ico thread without personal details.(Sometimes the personal details totally fake you should investigate)

2.ICO Without escrow, Don't join.

3.Read the whitepaper.

Etc you should follow.better buy some coins from phoenix exchange.

What phoniex exchange? You mean poloniex? Anyway, most ICOs are scams, and don't get fooled with a coin's "uniqueness", sometimes that uniqueness is just a simple gimmick that offers nothing of actual value. Very easy to trick people into thinking it's the next big thing. Remember: everyone wants your BTC.
1933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What the hell is going on with ZCash? on: October 30, 2016, 03:34:55 PM
Im looking at the Poloniex ZEC/BTC trade and 1 ZEC is worth 1.19 BTC... why? and the all time high was 3300+ BTC per ZEC? I mean that's nonsense. Who would buy this thing?

I have concluded that ZCoin is trash since you have to trust the devs into deleting the masterkey, I have no idea what ZCash is all about to be honest.
1934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is Craig Wright doing now and where is he? on: October 30, 2016, 12:39:41 PM
Im wondering How is Craig Wright doing now and where is he? 5 months ago when he make his last hoax, does he liable for frauding?
I am quite sure thar craig is not a real satoshi or even he may not have been in team of developers who created bitcoin. He is just trying to grab fame of satoshi creating hoax.
I mean he claimed his satoshi several times but no one charge him, i dont know if theres a law punishing doings like that.
He have just claimed he is satoshi which i don't think comes under any illegal things to get punishment. However if he start to take loans, or threat other claiming what he wasn't than only it may become against law.

I think he was involved since the early days. Not sure as far as developing any of it goes. I remember that on his website he included some code and this code had mistakes and it was just a simple batch file, so if he makes mistakes there, I dont see him being responsible for anything bitcoin related.

1936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you want to become Rich you need to Put Higher bets on: October 29, 2016, 03:56:06 PM
There are people like Dan Bilzerian that became super rich by doing big risk gambles, and also poker playing and taking big risks in the game. Of course I don't know how much of the story is true. I just can't believe someone can keep gambling with big risks without going bankrupt.
1937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Almost all alts on the red due bitcoin uprise on: October 29, 2016, 03:24:36 PM
Bitcoin on its way to destroy the last ATH. We will test 778 again, then we will go straight for 1200+. Alts are going to go deep in the red for a long time now in my book with the exceptional big pump and dumps that can always happen on any random coin.
1938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: All polo coins dropped due to zcash? on: October 29, 2016, 02:44:54 PM
It's all because of Bitcoin. As soon as the king Bitcoin rises, all the peasants (alt) start bowing down to the king. Recognize who is the best and drop all your alts when Bitcoin starts rising to keep yourself on the winning side.
1939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin accepted in over 10.000 Swiss locations on: October 29, 2016, 02:31:49 PM
this sounds like the same setup as zipzap which was gonna open up thousands of terminals in the uk and beyond for bitcoin sales. then nothing was ever heard from them again. it's cool all the same.
This is specially big because Switzerland is not a country that has enough size to consider 10.000 as small amount. In Switzerland 10.000 and growing means full adoption is comming soon. Pretty much ever kilometer would see one at this pace.

Did anyone see those news? I didn't see a thread here so im making it. It's pretty huge news, I think it went low on the radar because everyone is talking about 0.13.1 release and segwit, but this is also important. The fees are very low and you can go there with bitcoins in your pocket and enjoy shopping pretty much anywhere. What a nice country, too bad im too poor to be able to live there.
