No argument from me on that. I complained in the forum previously about how brain-dead Bitpay is on that issue.
1922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Untaint for a fee using out-of-band transactions and large mining fees on: March 04, 2014, 10:20:08 AM
It's really a shame that the Zerocoin people are taking the attitude of "claim priority (first to publish), somebody else can do the heavy lifting of actually making it work".  Satoshi did it right, he did both, and he changed the course of history.  People like Satoshi are the ones who created the Internet, and I see fewer and fewer of them in academia with each passing year.

Zerocoin recently became much more practical with a 344 byte signature instead 40 - 50KB. I believe the details are not yet published?

http://www0.cs.ucl.ac.uk/staff/G.Danezis/papers/DanezisFournetKohlweissParno13.pdf

The remaining problem I have with Zerocoin is at least two-fold.

  • It is based on number-theoretic arguments thus it won't be resistant to quantum computing, and thus eventually all our chains of ownerships become revealed in the future. I am working on a technical solution now.
  • It doesn't obscure the IP address.

You can reload the Bitpay page that says expired later then it will show it was paid.

So you've just argued TBF has no effective power, so then why give a fuck what they do?

I think you've just argued that no one can control Bitcoin right now and thus there is no way to make any more hard forks.

I have to say, i'm with you on that one. I couldn't give a flying fork what the bitcoin foundation do, they don't speak for me, nor will any members club who evolve in the future democratically elected, or not. Good riddance if they fade into obscurity, and if they don't, it makes not a blind bit of difference to me.

A fraud is a fraud is a fraud. You may be new here, don't know who I am, what I do, how Bitcoin works etc.

This doesn't mean anything changes, it just means you need to stfu.

Am I mistaken or you the person who private messaged me in Spring of 2013 and tried to get me involved in some action? Aren't/weren't you running some kind Bitcoin options pool business? I had a warning from rpietila about you? Or am I confusing you with someone else? Apologies in advance if my vague memory is incorrect.
1925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I told Satoshi to call it Digicashbills on: March 04, 2014, 09:59:38 AM
No cryptocurrency longer than 2 syllables has any chance of success whatsoever. Well unless it flows really good....

Your opinion(s) of a portmanteau of two small words (or word plus fragment) where one or both of them have 2 syllables, e.g. Ethereum?

Until this post I assumed ethereum was a real word.

Ethereal referring to something like ethereum.

Learn something every day etc.

So perhaps they succeeded?

But isn't it important for the name to mean something about what the product actual is and does?

What the heck does "ethereum" mean to your average bloke who is invested in Bitcoin?

Ether has some very distant connection to cloud computing or intangible matter, but what does that say about decentralized money or contracts?

I just don't think most people will get it. Whereas Bitcoin is at least is a coin. The Bit part is ambiguous to non-geeks, why I bite the coin or I only get a little bit of a coin?

Non-geeks don't know what a digital bit is.

Great article.  Great insight into Mark Karpeles personality and strange behaviors...

-B-

What's frightening is that it's not uncommon. Operating a successful business involves doing a hell of a lot of tedious shit, more and more of it as the business gets bigger.  You can't just ignore that shit and you can only delegate so much of it to other people but the more you play the "successful entrepreneur" game the less likely it is that people will call you on your bullshit - or the more likely it is that you'll dismiss any criticism because you think you're smarter than everyone else.

A lot of people get hooked on "being a CEO" and all the trappings, which isn't the same thing as being a successful business person.

I feel bad saying this but all signs point to him being a Sociopath.

http://www.mcafee.cc/Bin/sb.html

Plain and simple.

-B-

Since lately some people have been insinuating that I might be a anti-social, I was happy to review those traits and see I don't possess them.

Quote
Glibness and Superficial Charm

It is quite evident from my posts I don't do that.

Quote
Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

I prayed for the guys who gorged my right eye out, I had to fight with my ex because I wanted give my computer monitor to the artist who suffers from polio and did some of the artwork on my coolpage.com, etc....

Quote
Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."

My sense of self mirrors my actual accomplishments. I am not entitled, I live in a small shack in a third world country and eat rice and bitter melon. I don't have any toilet paper and wash my arse with my hand and soap. I don't have any furniture at the moment because I am too busy working so I only need my foam bed and this rotten wooden table (that I discovered outside) for my desk. Cripes I am running an Athlon 2 core CPU and a single 19 monitor with a cheap keyboard.

I can't remember the last time I took a day off. Shower maybe twice a month.

Quote
Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

I hate the pressure of being caught in a lie. It entangles you in an ever increasing web of lies. I'd rather deal with the mistake upfront as possible.

Quote
Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

I know very well the things I have done wrong in my life. And feel remorse, shame, and guilt. More importantly I do everything I can to make restitution.

Quote
Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

I love deeply+eternally and hate shallowly+ephemerally.

Quote
Incapacity for Love

I think i have too much capacity, even at 49 in June (and I mean both the physical and emotional aspects)  Wink

Quote
Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.

I hate gambling. Never do it. Don't smoke, don't drink, don't do drugs, but I don't have a hang up about sex with someone who feels the same with me. If that is promiscuous so be it. But I don't have time to be promiscuous any way.

Quote
Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

I try to imagine the pain others feel. I remembered with I was hospitalized near death in 2012 with an acute peptic ulcer that was leaking acid into my body and causing my internal organs to tear and die, and I wasn't allow painkiller, that I became aware that we really don't know the pain others feel until we feel it ourselves. And I also had an idea what burning in perpetuity would feel like (and I can handle pain, I played an entire football game with a broken nose, I've been sewed and operated on without anesthesia but that burning pain is really the shit!).

Quote
Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.

There are sometimes I feel I am not doing a good enough job disciplining myself, but nothing extreme. All of us have to check ourselves from time-to-time.

Quote
Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

I had a difficult childhood but I thrived both in academics and sports and even my own hobbies and entrepreneurial pursuits at a very young age. I never let hardship stop me.

Quote
Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

I feel obligated to help those who are close to me. And I do.

Quote
Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.

I covered that already above. I see nothing wrong with sex between consenting adults.

Quote
Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.

I have demonstrated accomplishments of goals throughout my life.

Quote
Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

My story is still the same. Now working on the next big thing.
1928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Mark of the Beast? on: March 04, 2014, 08:56:28 AM
What Bitcoin brings into game is that the ledger becomes public.

Which we must change and will and remain decentralized.

And anonymity that can't be broken by the government.

You fools will be eating your shit soon.

Have fun with your ignorance.

Logic and technical accuracy (even as applied to social issues such as sexism) is replaced by mob cheerleading here.

I am gone from this thread. Enjoy the blissful eurphoria (for a short-time).

I edited my prior post. Read it and weep.

slyA is obviously vested, technically ignorant, irrational, jealous, etc.. Maybe he is female?

If he had any idea who is he talking to... (never mind)

Condescension, sexism and paranoia in once sweet sentence. Do you know that the person I responded to was female? You just proved everything I just said.

Read the second linked post instance. But it would fly over your head any way.

You can't control which miner wins the next block. Just buy new coins directly from a miner.

And I doubt Gavin has enough power to hard fork even if he wanted to.

He easily does.  Same thing with Sunny King and proof of stake.

But he (personally) doesn't (without great risk) in the overall (holistic) political game theory. You are thinking too-inside-the-box.

1938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCO] XCoin | New Secure Hashing Algorithm (cpu only) on: March 04, 2014, 07:41:40 AM
Edit:

Regarding his idea to charge penalty fee to attackers doing denial-of-service on the CoinJoin output step...

How do you prove who is denying service when the whole point of CoinJoin is you can't link the outputs to the inputs? I provided a divide-and-conquer approach in that CoinJoin thread, but that will be unscalable. Seriously there is a technical reason CoinJoin is not the correct algorithm.

Any thing deterministic violates the Byzantine General's solution of proof-of-work and can be defrauded. What will happen is the fraudsters will game this deterministic selection to put themselves in control. Understand that the fundamental genius of Satoshi's invention is that nothing can be known about the next block winner a priori. I explained in great detail why all non-PoW systems, e.g. proof-of-stake, are thus not secure. If you introduce determinism (e.g. a pseudorandom number generator is controlled by whom ever controls the initial seed) then you've lost that key attribute of PoW w.r.t. to your use in controlling the denial-of-service of enjoining transactions in the CoinJoin algorithm.

Ah, you're replying to something completely 100% different than what I said. I suppose it's super complicated. How about this, I'll write the code for this into DarkSend in the next few days. We'll do a public beta test on testnet and you can try to break it. I'll document it and make flow charts and everything so you can see how it works.

I don't think so. I think either you don't understand how what I wrote applies, or you didn't mean what I thought you wrote.

I don't have any time for hacking DarkCoin. But if you post algorithms, I will explain how to hack it (if it can be) and let others try. Also try to tell you how to fix, if I see any way to.

No rush, you are in the middle of a release. I am also very busy. No one sent me a private message about your post above. And I won't be wading through 100 pages after a week or so to find a response from you. Someone will need to message me a link to your future post then.

Also, the anonymint guy has every right to ask questions and be critical about darkcoin, he just seems to be attacking it rather than being impartial. Seemingly for his own purposes. ... This was the guy badmouthing PSone because it didn't have Playstation 4 graphics. Everything in it's own time, you build the foundation first.

I never wrote anything about PSone, I don't even know what it is.

I explained in great detail why all non-PoW systems, e.g. proof-of-stake, are thus not secure.

AnonyMint, thank you for a very interesting read [even though i understood only 30% at most...].
Can you please refer me to your detailed explanation of the above. I have so-far avoided PoS completely, considering it a kind of scam, but the idea that by default it has a potential security flaw in the design intrigues me and i'd like to understand this issue further.
thank you.

It is discussed several times in the following thread, with several posts of back and forth discussion. Sorry I don't have time to dig for the links to the posts in the thread, you will need to dig.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=455141.0

I mean AnonyMint simply wrote a "this is flawed" and the price went down.

That wasn't intentional. I have no financial stake in this coin. And I don't need promotion at all. In fact, I would try to minimize interest in the beginning, because I am not interested in a pump & dump, rather I am interested in winning the long-game by having the absolute best technology that will blow the shit out of anything else out there.

I already stated upthread that I will never announce nor promote an altcoin.

If you aren't totally confused, that is unfortunate as it is intentional.

This is the same guy that says Bitcoin was created by the NSA, and Satoshi is an NSA employee, in order to create a new world order control grid

Read this analysis and weep.

My vote goes to very strong anonymity. Darkcoin is a good example.

DarkCoin isn't anonymous against the government.

One important way the Dark Enlightenment applies to Bitcoin. CoinCube you will find the contentionism throughout that linked post.
