1941  Other / Meta / Re: Is the merit system flawed? on: May 04, 2018, 05:23:38 AM

Sure... Not all my posts are epic or worthy of merit, but some are. Yet I rarely, (like finding a legendary in your fav. MMorpg) receive any.
Which leads me to believe I will never make to that last step.

Which, ultimately leads me to Not care about merit at all - Which trully hurts the whole system because us higher ups have the most smerit to give away.

That's why I sometime back suggested to Decay Default Merits so that people remain motivated.
But  awarding Merit is totally subjective and there is no well defined guidelines.
Only thing I guess it is containing people in  rank, busting account farmers (as account farmers tried to give merit to their alts and busted) and broke some people life.

Main Flaw in merit is somewhat its Binary nature (either you get merit or will not get merit) and due to this nature of merit ,Average Joe and Shitposter now share the same stand (same rank as both are not able to progress).

No idea if  Theymos started this system to stop the rank progression of Average Joe and shitposters or shitposters only.
If shitposters only then system is flawed but if it is for both then system is 100% working fine.

1942  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How the genesis block triggered on: May 03, 2018, 06:29:18 PM

So does this mean Satoshi mined the Genesis block? Meaning, did he actually use computing power to mine the Block? Or was the genesis block instamined when the network went live?

This Satoshi's 1m instamine will  be good read.

And below is the quote from the Danny Hamilton on that topic:

No.  Bitcoin did not have any mining prior to announcement.  Bitcoin did not have any instamine.

1944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] Goodomy - Life Rewards for Consumers - From the Creator of the first ICO on: May 03, 2018, 05:29:02 AM

the snapshot days are posted on the roadmap.

just hold good token in your wallets to quality for OTOL tokens.

Thanks, I got it now. I did not expanded the roadmap then.

Got the app  in google play store but why "Phone Number" required to login?
At least browsing in the app should not ask for phone number.
1945  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty manager embezzling $4000 on: May 02, 2018, 06:21:10 PM
I thought that he was removed as Merit Source and Staff  because of your thread.

I just saw that merit sources were reduced from 80 to 79 (I thought that might be he was removed).

Theymos need to intervene, I think staff and bounty manager are two conflicting position.
1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] Goodomy - Life Rewards for Consumers - From the Creator of the first ICO on: May 02, 2018, 05:46:37 PM
Any update on shoponomy App?
Also I gone through website that says OTOL will be airdrop to "GOOD" holders if they have good on there wallet before feb 27 ,2019. So when you will take (which day) snapshots of the wallets? In current statement it look like if Holder just do to and froth in his own MEW wallets, he will eligible for OTOL in all MEW wallets?
1947  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: This exchange charge 0 transaction fee on: May 02, 2018, 05:30:28 PM
They look sure shot scam.
1. They do not know difference between trading and transaction fees.
2. Doing typo of ".008BTC"  when they need to write ".0008BTC".

1948  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: We want you for Zeon Trading Platform beta-test! on: May 02, 2018, 05:19:50 PM
You are sounding like that you are doing favour to people who will beta test your platform.
You need to learn some marketing basics.
1949  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Tradesatoshi Exchange – The NEW home of traders! on: May 02, 2018, 05:11:59 PM
These faucets are waste of time. They disabled faucets for time being but look like enabled it again.
Anyways they are not a new exchange as you are  mentioning "NEW home of traders"
1950  Other / Meta / Re: Almost perfect English 1 post vs broken English all other posts, plagiarized? on: April 30, 2018, 07:28:35 PM
---snip--

Just curious , Will you ask for ban for this user or not , Is 32.1% matching can cause ban?
I think if we read some articles and try to express ourselves then we can match that much % (as this article will remain active on your sub conscious.)
1951  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do not consider my account as spam{quite from all twitter, Facebook campaign} on: April 30, 2018, 07:14:54 PM
As TMAN already pointed that exact word should be quit not quite so you need to work on your English Language skills.

But I will also add few things.

Start reading about the bitcoin and blockchain. Below book will be good starting point.
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook

Also make  habit to read some topics in below board.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6.0

Even I am never used to be facebook and Twitter bounty hunter but I also get same feeling once that why I am not getting Merits?
Once I started visiting that above board and start reading topics there my feeling immediately changed to why this forum should consider me merit worthy when I am possessing all junk knowledge about crypto currencies gathered by  watching some random videos and articles.
1952  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Output in coinbase transaction on: April 30, 2018, 03:37:20 PM
For example, this transaction spending 0.02BTC is nonstandard, but not invalid, even though it's outputs can't be redeemed.

Did block reward of 50 BTC in this transaction is got distributed to multiple addresses ? I used to think that one miner (or one address) will get all the rewards.
1953  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Any timeframes for full Lightning Network implementation? on: April 30, 2018, 01:55:29 PM
The only common scenario I can think of to use larger channels, is a gambler who often deposits and withdraws large amounts to the same online casino.

That was very much the scenario I was thinking of. Also, the same usage could apply to regular traders who don't want to leave large amounts on exchanges when they're not actually in a trade.

Even if there is no Lightning Network, Can this gambler and casino set up a "Micro payment channel" between them.

I am still in learning phase but my understanding is that if we have a daily recurring business we can create a Micropayment channel .

Stay away from this obvious scam as they are using ticker "SNC" that is already registered with some other coin in coinmarket cap.

1955  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying plagiarism if poster is active on multiple platforms. on: April 29, 2018, 07:27:05 PM
Hi All.

Is it ok to post here if I use my already posted article in some other forum.
Off course I will maintain in disclaimer, that where I posted this article first and direct link to that forum.

In this way, I am re using my original work in this forum (not copy/pasting others), just want to know what the forum guidelines say about it.

I read the rules they only say that: (nothing written about re use so want to be sure)

33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

In this way, I am re using my original work in this forum (not copy/pasting others)
One warning: I think you should limit this to relevant posts, and don't use it to increase your post count only. It shouldn't look like spam.

More to the point, it shouldn’t be spam.

I think you can give reference to your Steemit link, no need to include Steemit account in Signature.
Since you already found a copy-paster , I will suggest you to report him in LoyceV thread.
1956  Other / Meta / Re: It's no wonder we are infested with bounty and airdrop spammers on: April 29, 2018, 07:09:26 PM
Then I think you mean Merits/Rank only, because Activity will be gained with time but it will not cause account to rank up.

I think you didn't understand what the subject of the conversation you quoted was. It had nothing to do with rank.

I just want to point that you can have Jr.Member with 250 activity and Senior Member also with 250 activity. (Due to Merits).
If somebody Sr.Member account get banned at 250 activity and we follow the logic proposed by LoyceV then it simply means that banned Sr.Member can now create 11 accounts and will lurk in all mega spam threads for an year ( to gather activity more than his Sr. member account.).

Afterwards he will report his 10 alt accounts with 11th  account (I assume they will remain Jr.Member only due to their shit post and will have activity more than 250) and he will get back his senior member account (because he reported 10 accounts that has more activity than him.)

That's why I stressed on rank, if we take rank then he need to report 10 hero accounts to get his account back.

But do not know how the "Legendary" will get their account back, might be they need to report 10 Legendary.

Proposed  by LoyceV
The problem I can see is that they would just sign up another 10 alts, copy paste with them and then report their own alts. Thus gaining their main account that got banned back.
I thought of that, that's why the accounts they report need to have a higher activity than their own. It's not worth spamming with 10 new accounts, just to get one back.

My bad. I missed that higher activity thing. Might work but I'm not sure that most of these people are really likely to put any work into something. There might be a few exceptions where someone just wasn't aware they need to link to the original source.

1958  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Quiz Merit Reward on: April 29, 2018, 06:56:37 AM

Question No. 4.
Will bitcoin platforms attract developers?  Why?
Code:
Answer:

I think if you are pointing to BlockChain then you are little late in asking this question because many big compaines already started/investing/invested on the blockchain technology. Below link provide the list of major companies:
https://interestingengineering.com/these-20-companies-are-placing-big-bets-on-blockchain-technology

But this list is not all inclusive as there are many companies I know (from my friends) that are already implementing/implemented the Blockchain based solutions.
R3 Corda already created the the distributed ledger financial service (that goes way back to 2016) and they are partnered with more than 60 companies. (that is way back to Nov 2017).

So it already attracted the companies and investors and this will going to expand much further.

Why?
Blockchain is very secure and distributed and can be configured as per need.

Congrats to you for ranking up.
