1942  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ★ Please read carefully before Install any coin wallet on your device ★ on: February 26, 2019, 04:58:09 PM
Just because a wallet is on GitHub, it DOES NOT mean that it is safe or has been audited or is the legit wallet. It is also insanely easy for scammers to fork a GitHub repo... and setup a fake version of the wallet that steals private keys. Very few users will ever bother to fully vet a GitHub repo to check the owner, the history, commits etc and whether the code is legit.

The recent Electrum attack involved directing users to a fake GitHub repo to download a fake version of the wallet.

Yeah that's why I have already mentioned on the thread not to trust any social media platform for wallet download. Honestly you can't trust social platform wallet download link blindly. I suggested here to follow coinmarketcap wallet link to get best results. Otherwise whereever you go there is a chance of being attacked by those wallet scammer.

1944  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ★ A Complete Guideline to use forum search button properly ★ on: February 26, 2019, 01:33:10 PM
Lately I'm been using the forum's search function since the keywords that I'm using don't show up in Google searches anymore.
Yeah you can get the full advantage of forum search option. Its really helpful to complete your investigation about anything before starting a new topic.

Specially for new members it can help them in many ways. They can know easily about forum, users background, remarkable stories and many more. Just what they need to know is the proper use of search option.
1945  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ★ DreamPot ICO fake partnership ★ on: February 26, 2019, 01:26:35 PM
So I think OP should edit title with, " DreamPot ICO is misleading investors by fake partnership.
Thanks for the suggestion. Title updated.

We are misleading investors by fake partnership? How I already said its not partners at the moment. This is just recommendation. And why I have to get red tag if we are not scam project? You are don't understand?

What do you think? All community members are  fool. There's no way to accept that its a real partnership. Every single person who will visit the website can easily catch the hide & seek game. I can't beleive how could you continue your discussion on be half of them. Its really concerning for investor IMO.
1946  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ★ DreamPot ICO fake partnership ★ on: February 26, 2019, 08:58:33 AM
When our lottery will started we will be listing on Binance and exchanges what did you find on site. How we can listing if our project was started around 7 days ago?

What about white paper, our team and roadmap - we are not afraid for showing your our faces, big update for the site will be finished very soon. Also we already ordered audit by Hacken for our smart-contracts, then you will see what our project is legit.
Honestly I found nothing appropriate on your answer. After reading your reply at least anyone can guess what kind of scam game you guys are playing with investors. What a joke about whitepaper and roadmap. You should have basic idea about a ICO at least Sad

I wish our DT members will take proper actions against this scam project soon.
1947  Economy / Scam Accusations / ★ SCAM ICO PROJECT "Dreampot" ★ on: February 25, 2019, 07:45:19 PM
Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my thread. Today i am going to share my investigation result of an ongoing ICO project called "Dreampot". I want to put your attention to their website partnetship section. There you will be able to find that they are showing partnership with Changelly, Binance, Google chrome, Trust wallet and more. I search on their website and social media where i didn't find any announcement regarding partnership with " Dreampot". Even there is no clickable link on their partnership section where you could find anything about their partnership. On the other hand they are not providing any whitepaper, team and roadmap. Another interesting thing is that you can't find any concept behind their project. Why they are raising fund actually. I think its nothing but a complete scam.

Website: https://dreampot.io (Archive)
Announcement: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5113145.0 (Archive)
What happened: Fake partnership, no whitepaper, team, roadmap.

I will suggest everyone to be careful about this project.

1948  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ★ Please read carefully before Install any coin wallet on your device ★ on: February 25, 2019, 07:17:00 PM
It's good if you can create a guide topic on how to use virustotal.com to scan and detect virus/ malware from online sources.
I believe that the topic, when published officially, will get massvie rounds of applause from bitcointalkers.
I have waited for the sort of topic.
Thanks mate for your suggestion. As a forum member I feel so good when someone encourage to bring another topic. Its the example of a inclusive discussion IMO. Obviously i will try my best to create a topic based on your suggested topic after investigating the whole matter properly.

Personally I will suggest everyone for now to be careful before install a coin wallet. It hurts me when i find someone who lost his/her crypto asset because of this wallet scam incidents.
1949  Other / Meta / Re: ★ Proposal for a warning message on Announcements(Altcoins) board ★ on: February 25, 2019, 09:49:58 AM
There is a red warning "Warning: Trade with extreme caution!" on the accounts of scammers members and a lot of red numbers, but nevertheless they can scam newbies using the same accounts.
It is not just a warning but an awareness.
I think a welcome message contains some lessons better than a red warning covering the entire screen.
I personally beleive that its better to try a little for worldwide investors. Its not discouraging them from ICO investment. But IMO its just a warning for them to think on their own before invest on a project. Bitcointalk has a great reputation through the whole crypto universe. So i think its not gonna harm its reputation by showing a warning in Announcements (Altcoins) section for all.
1950  Other / Beginners & Help / ★ A Complete Guideline to use forum search button properly ★ on: February 25, 2019, 06:27:27 AM
Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my thread. All of us know that there is a search option on the upper right side of forum. If we have any queation on our mind then we can easily search the answer by clicking on forum search engine. Unfortunately we don't know the proper use of this search option. Even I got a lot of new things about this search option today which was unknown to me. Today i reaearch sbout it after seeing the reply of our forum admin.

note that if you use the search box in the upper right while in a topic, it searches only that topic.

If you are reading a topic and use search button during that time then search engine will search on that topic only.
So if you search something others which isn't relate with topic then you will not get any result. You can get confused about your search but it doesn't mean that this question has no answer. You can get it easily again.

How could you use search button properly?

1. If you want to search anything on a specific thread then you will have to open that thread first. After that
you can use search button to get all your answer easily.

For example you want to search your stacked bitcoin address. First you have to open this thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0

Then you will have to use the search button for getting your answer easily.

2. If you want to search on a specific board then you will have to open that board first. After that you can use search button to get all your answer easily. As an example you want to search something about trading. Then first you will have to open Trading discussion to get all your answer.

3. If you can't decide to where to search about your question then you can use forums homepage search button directlly for getting your answer. This search result will be a combine answer where it can be kinda difficult for you to find your one.

4. Use Advance search option for more advantage. You can make google search, seach by user, search by message age and many more here.

Special note: Search option will not show you any non public board. For example If you are below member rank then you can't search on Investigation.

1951  Other / Meta / Force to Reset Password on: February 24, 2019, 07:31:09 PM
Hello Everyone,

In recent times bitcointalk account hacking has been a big concern for us. We are getting thread where members are claiming for their hacked account and facing a hard situation to recover it. In current system there is a option "Always stay logged in". If you click on that then you don't need to put login details untill you use log out option. Many of us use google "save password" option for log in.

As a result we may forget our password because of not using it for a long time. On the other hand many users use same password for all online accounts and its an opportunity for hackers to hack their account easily.

How it will be if forum force to reset password in every 2 month? For example if someone didn't change his/her password during this time frame then he/she will redirect to password reset page after log in. After reset a new password he/she will be able to log in again.

In my opinion if this force password system implement by our forum then it will not be easier for hackers to hack users account. From my experience i have seen this force password system on some banking website where they force to reset their users account password in every 2 or 3 month. If hackers be able to steal users account info somehow still then they will not be able to use it for a long time due to force password system.
1952  Other / Meta / Re: ★ Proposal for a warning message on Announcements(Altcoins) board ★ on: February 24, 2019, 06:49:59 PM
I also make the same proposal earlier and I personally believe that a warning message should be there. But below is the response of Welsh merited by mprep.
Sometimes some decission should take by observing situation. In recent times ICO scam has been a concern and by considering this situation i think we should warn our investor.

You have suggested in your thread to make a post including all scam ICO there. Actually your suggestion was not bad but honestly users are not too interested to read pin posts usually. Where IMO showing a warning like gambling section could be a perfect solution.

1953  Other / Meta / Re: Feature request: Show an "Add to Trust list"-button on each profile page on: February 24, 2019, 06:27:25 PM
Yeah it will make the trust list using system much easier specially for new users. Where some users haven't understant the system of adding someone on trust list. Having a button on each members profile can help them to add someone on their trust list easily IMO.
1954  Other / Meta / Re: My account has been banned.... on: February 24, 2019, 06:17:57 PM
I think ban came for the signature issue.where its notified strongly that you will not be able to signature for next 2 years. There might be a reason for your past signature. But honestly action for plagiarism is quite soften here.
1955  Economy / Reputation / Re: Battle between titans. DT against DT, why? on: February 24, 2019, 04:33:51 AM
I don't know why you mention it by using the word "war". But In my view this isn't war its just a way how everyone sharing their own thoughts and ideology. Every single member of this forum have different point of view.  As an example some rules of this forum could be looking harsh to you but from my point of view it could be appropriate. Same thing also happening here with DT members. They are not fighting but debating with each others for a greater solution.

1956  Other / Meta / Re: Why newbie able to create poll but can't submit vote ? on: February 24, 2019, 04:08:28 AM
It only takes 6 weeks and a merit for you to be a Jr. Member who has voting power in a poll and you still think newbies here especially the ones with 80+ activity still has a right to vote in a poll? Don't you think that they stayed in that rank in a long time for a reason? And not one of those reasons is them being knowledgeable enough to be part on a poll voting.
Yeah that's why I mentioned my own opinion and being agree with our admins decission and its really important to stop voting manipulation. But If a newbie can't be able to vote then they should have a minimum rank achievement to create a poll IMO. They can easily get any information or knowledge by creating a thread i think.
1957  Other / Meta / ★ Proposal for a warning message on Announcements(Altcoins) board ★ on: February 23, 2019, 07:51:27 PM
Hello guys,

Welcome everyone to my thread. Today I am going to make a proposal for showing a warning on Announcements (Altcoins) section. As we all know that in Investor-based games section a warning shows there for all when anyone click on any thread.. After seeing the situation of ICO scam i realize that we need a same kind of warning on Announcements(Altcoins) section.

Every single member of this forum know that bitcointalk has a great value on whole crypto world. Not only the members of bitcointalk invest on ICO but also many investor come from outside of the forum. These investor take the forum as a source of guideline for their investment. Honestly when I wasn't a member of this forum at that time I have followed bitcointalk ANN thread before my investment. Because most of the ICO projects use bitcointalk ANN thread link on their website along with social media links. In recent times ICO scam increasing rapidly and these scammers are targeting bitcointalk to promote their project easily. So I think its necessary to have an warning on ANN section too. If a warning shows there then investors can easily understand that there is always risks in ICO investment and forum doesn't moderate any likely scam.

For example when you click on  Investor-based games sections thread you will see this warning;

Quote
Warning: You are in the Gambling section. You are likely to eventually lose any money that you gamble/"invest". Additionally, moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain: caveat emptor. Do not gamble more than you can afford to lose.

How it will be if we see a warning on Announcements (Altcoins) sections thread.

Warning could be like this:

Quote
Warning: You are in the Announcements (Altcoins) section. You are likely to eventually lose any money that you "invest" on any new coin. Additionally, moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain: caveat emptor. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose. Forum is not affiliated with any Altcoin.
1958  Economy / Reputation / Re: Multi accounts on: February 23, 2019, 12:49:54 PM
Hey mate without having proper evidence you can't take decission about someone. Just transaction between 2 person can't be a logic to suspect as a Alt account user. You have to reveal their connectivity clearly to put them under action. If you can provide valid reason that these accounts are connected with each other only then your post will be appreciated here.
1959  Other / Meta / Why newbie able to create poll but can't submit vote ? on: February 23, 2019, 07:17:33 AM
Hello Everyone,

Bitcointalk forum is a place where every single member have the freedom to express their own thoughts and ideas. But one thing that took my attention is that in this forum a newbie can't submit his/her vote on a poll. But he/she can open a poll. I think this rules should be reconsider by our forum admin @theymos.

Here is a thread link where a newbie feeling confused about his voting power.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5113356.msg49876363#msg49876363

But I see here on the forum that newbie members are able to create a poll.

Here is the link:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5111656.0

But its confirmed by forum admin @theymos that newbies will not be able to submit vote. You can see this here,

Previously, anyone could vote in polls. Now you must be at least a Jr. Member. This should make vote manipulation more difficult, though you should still not rely on forum polls for real accuracy.

I am agree with our admin decission that newbies will not be able to vote due to voting manipulation. But if they can't submit vote then why they should allow to create a voting poll.

In my opinion we usually see voting on democratic countries where without being a voter you can't be a candidate or a participant on their voting system. I think if a newbie can't submit vote here on current forum system then should not be allowed here to create a poll too.

I created this new thread because our current voting rules looks conflicting to me

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5111656.0

i can not vote in this poll, is there a reason why im confused.
You will be able to vote after being a Junior member mate. There's no reason to be confused. You will have to earn 1 merit to be Junior member.
