1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to explain bitcoin to teenagers or children on: November 03, 2016, 07:43:11 PM
Based on the vernacular of the average forum member, I'm fairly certain the Bitcoin user base is mostly teenagers and children.
1942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized Ride Sharing is Here: No Driver Fees, Any Payment Method on: November 02, 2016, 11:46:51 AM
sounds like the perfect recipe to end up getting your asshole reamed or being turned into a cripple when your uninsured meth head driver smacks into a bridge. I think i'll pass.

Spot on, why would I get into the car of a total fucking stranger, without a commercial license, without business insurance, without formal training and trust my life to them?

Uber users = dumbasses that have nothing to live for

Other side of the coin: Why would I let some scumbag that I don't know get in the back of my car so they can stab me at a stop sign and steal my car to make $5?

Uber drivers = escapees from a mental institution
1943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin was made illegal by your government would you still use it? on: November 02, 2016, 11:33:44 AM
It's a payment system not an addictive drug or a sexual orientation.

If debit cards were illegal would you still use them?  No

If writing checks was illegal would you still write checks?  No

If credit cards were illegal would you still use them?  No

If PayPal was illegal would you still use PayPal?  No

Having your money tied up in an illegal payment system that's subject to government confiscation is beyond stupid. It would be more intelligent to wipe your ass with your money and flush it down the toilet. If you flush your money at least you avoid the prison sentence.
1944  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What stops you from opening a local bitcoin exchange business? on: November 02, 2016, 11:21:49 AM
There used to be quite a few people in my area that used Bitcoin but I haven't met another person using Bitcoin in my area in almost two years. I wouldn't have any business if I tried that.

Oh, and my government would probably try to put me in prison like they did BurtW because I can't afford the half million dollars worth of start up costs and licenses.
1945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be blocked too by the government or isp ?? on: October 29, 2016, 10:20:37 PM
Governments can block you from using bitcoin just like they block you from:
Gambling - They can and have multiple times. Remember Fulltiltpoker.com, Absolutepoker.com, Ultimatebet.com and UB.com?
Porn - no one cares or tries.
Music piracy - They can and have multiple times. Remember Limewire, Demonoid, Kickass Torrents, Torrent-Finder, OnSmash.com, DaJaz1.com?
Joining a terror group - I can join the gay nazi's for hitler, that doesn't mean shit. Let's talk about drone strikes instead.
Creating a fake facebook account - Why would the government give a shit about that dude? They probably have more fake facebook accounts than anyone does.
etc...
In other words, they can't can and have.  Wink

If Bitcoin came under attack from the government kiss that mainstream to the moon bullshit goodby. There is no way a payment system can be even slightly useful if under government attack. Hiding in a dark room, running TOR, and biting your nails is not the way most people want to shop on Amazon. LOL
My point is you still can do any of the banned activities. And trying to shut down a distributed network vs. a website is much, much harder. Lastly there are no legal grounds for an attack nor any suggestion of a will to do so; nor any method by which to accomplish it. We won brother.  Smiley

I agree, governments, other than the most oppressive, don't care about Bitcoin. My point was that "mainstream" does not go with "government attack".

And even after that "accident" the btc price is rising... everything is well organized ! lol

rising because people fear there would be shortage of bitcoin in market.Maybe this news will bring further hike in bitcoin price

It's rising because Bitcoin price is controlled entirely by day traders and they're all insane. They will use any reason as an excuse to rally. LOL

I, personally, won't be satisfied until the Bitcoin network is running smoothly on a global wireless mesh network.

That's a really old thread. There have been changes in TOR and government website seizures that change the game.  The truth is if the government wanted to get rid of bitcoin they could do it easily using any number of methods.  The good news is Bitcoin is such an inconsequential flea on the backside of an elephant that they have absolutely no reason to do anything.

Look at it this way, there are somewhere between 400k-500k daily heroin users in the USA alone but less than 250k daily Bitcoin transactions worldwide. There are millions of violent crimes, identity thefts, financial sector crimes from check kiting to bank hacking and thousands of other problems too numerous to list. Why would any government throw resources they don't have solving a non-issue like Bitcoin?

Every time law enforcement has been involved with Bitcoin it was related to another crime not Bitcoin. Illegal securities, illegal drug marketplace, fraud, kidnapping, etc are the crimes they care about. It wouldn't matter if those crimes were committed with gold, dollars, bitcoin or food stamps the result would be the same.

No government is going to shut down Bitcoin because no one gives a shit about Bitcoin. LOL
I am agree with you, although isp and goverment make a rule that banned the bitcoin. They still cannot stop the users to use bitcoin becouse users can use vpn to pass through it. So I think the statement that goverment is xan not control the bitcoin is true. I think bitcoin is realy appropriated to be virtual money and I think may be the most of people in the world will use bitcoin, just wait it to be happen.

You can't run a mail server from a residence in the US because most murrican isp's block SMTP port 25. Murrican isp's also routinely block ports 443, 80, 110 and 21. Windows home server setup used to commonly fail because of blocked ports.

The truth is the govt could demand isp's block any ports they want and there's nothing anyone could do about it. That would start a Bitcoin port war where updates would roll out with default port changes and the govt would block those and on and on like Apple iPhone updates. Hackers learn to jailbreak the current ios and Apple responds with an update, bla, bla. No one in their right mind would ever use a payment system that is that difficult to use.

None of that will ever happen. If the government actually cared enough about tiny little Bitcoin to do something about it they would simply pass a law banning its use. That would terrify every legimate business and force them to stop any dealings with Bitcoin effectively ending Bitcoin use in that country. If they were really serious about ending even the most casual use of Bitcoin they would pass a mandatory jail sentence for Bitcoin use. That would crush Bitcoin like jello under a steamroller in that country.
1949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another exchange goes bust. Bitcurrex loses ~2300 BTC on: October 28, 2016, 02:32:19 AM
No this one is real. Every other exchange that got hacked starting with MtGox was faked but this one is real. ROFLMAO

Why does anyone ever use or trust a Bitcoin exchange now?  If this doesn't stop people are going to believe bitcoiners are nothing more than developmentally disabled idiots playing with money.

That's great Bruno, you're a saint. I'm glad Burt will get a little extra. Maybe he can buy an extra Christmas present for his little one to help wash away the memory of government nazis.
I will get her an extra present and thank you very much!

Update on daughter:  last year (4th grade) the teacher asked all the kids in the class to research a topic of concern, create a presentation and present it to the class.  Most of the kids presented typical 4th grade topics of concern (cruelty to animals, recycling, etc.).  Her presentation was "Stop the Madness:  Civil Asset Forfeiture".

She gave her presentation to the class including details of my arrest, etc.  Interestingly she said many of her classmates flat out did not believe her and accused her of making the whole thing up.

This year the students in her class have all been tasked with presenting a civics lesson of some kind.  I can't wait to see what she does.

Haha, you're raising another one to help us fight the good fight. I love it!

PS: Sorry for the off topic Bruno. It's my last, I promise.
1952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex Seeks Communication With Bitcoin Thie on: October 26, 2016, 07:52:14 PM
To communicate with the thief all they need to do is talk into a mirror. LOL

That's what it seems to me too.  It's happened too many times before to be just another security exploit.  It's always the same story..."Hey, invest here because our security is tight!"  Then, "Oops, sorry!  We've been hacked!"  And, always a plead to the hacker with a bounty offer that never works.  Big Vern did things the same way over at Cryptsy....It's a never ending charade fueled by a ceaseless herd of victims....

Yep, they're doing everything a thief would do to divert attention from themselves.  That's essentially why I stopped using bitcoin for anything other than a long-term hold investment. Bitcoin is just too attractive to thieving scumbags.

Damn Burt, I forgot about your recent troubles. I should have donated it to you.

No problem! Here's hopefully a favorable solution: I'll personally send BurtW 0.4378 BTC, in essence splitting your (CBH) donation in half, so that Rassah still receives the added compensation for his efforts. Furthermore, to quasi-satisfy OgNasty (re: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1659475.msg16678168#msg16678168), I'll personally donate $100 USD to https://www.centraltexasfoodbank.org/bitcoin.

1) gavin gave me a few bitcoin in 2010, but i've lost access to them. Am I a user?

2) gavin gave me a few bitcoin in 2010, I still have access to them, but I don't do anything else with bitcoin. Am I a user?

3) i gave my friend some bitcoin to play with. He doesn't even remember this. Is he a user?

It seems to me the survey is pretty much unanswerable as it stands. Needs a properly defined question.

Props to you. Very sound logic.

I wanted the discussion to flow without too many constraints. The wisdom of the crowd is usually a pretty good predictor of facts.

Bittorrent say they have around 30m users a day, but they also claim to have around 170m users. Over the course of their lifetime, it could be that over 1.5Bn people have used their software.

You can make stats do and say what you want.

Very true, stats are easily manipulated. Basic logic definitely is your best friend.  If you've ever mined bitcoin then you know the miners are paid out every day. I alone was a member of four different pools and received payments from them daily. If there are 25,000 people mining and each of them receives payments four times a day then there is 100,000 of the 250,000 daily transactions. In all likelihood, there are far fewer daily purchase transactions than anyone really wants to admit.

Unbelievably great work Bruno. You know that I'm CornedBeefHash on the list. We've met in person and known each other on this forum for almost five years. I authorize you (Bruno Kucinskas) to keep the remainder of my funds as payment for your hard work, dedication and honesty in dealing with Bitcoin100.

Sounds a little bit worse than communist Czech Republic of the 70ies, where my parents had the decency to flee from - together with their child. Of course the Czech Republic had also better medical care in the 70ies than Colorado has today, but that's just as an aside.

Murricans teach their children about how oppressive the British soldiers were during the fight for independence in 1770's. Taxation without representation was a rallying cry for the starving colonists.

The murrica of today is ten times more oppressive to its people than the brits were in the 1770's and unauthorized/unwelcome taxes are commonplace.

Example one:

Then:

The Boston Massacre, known as the Incident on King Street by the British, happened on March 5, 1770, in which British Army soldiers killed five male civilians and injured six others.

Now:

The Kent State massacre occurred at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, in the United States and involved the shooting of unarmed college students by the Ohio National Guard on Monday, May 4, 1970. The guardsmen fired 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis.

Example two:

Then:

No Taxation Without Representation" is a slogan originating during the 1750s and 1760s that summarized a primary grievance of the American colonists in the Thirteen Colonies, which was one of the major causes of the American Revolution. In short, many in those colonies believed that, as they were not directly represented in the distant British Parliament, any laws it passed affecting the colonists (such as the Sugar Act and the Stamp Act) were illegal under the Bill of Rights 1689, and were a denial of their rights as Englishmen.

Now:

In 2014, Burton Wagner was arrested without any crime being committed. His house ransacked and family torn apart in fear while he was dragged off to jail while government militia members stole all his money. They refused to release him from prison without his agreement that they could keep a large block of his money. That sounds a hell of a lot like government taxation without representation to me.
