Observing the Crimeans' responses on Russian-language forums, I'd say that Polushkin, who suggested buying from Ukraine didn't score any goodwill points from the Crimean population, to put it mildly. He's already been branded as traitor.
Another observation stems from a comment of a Crimean, who draws from prior experience of dealing with Ukrainians:
- It's precisely after such statement that Ukraine will shut off to Crimea everything they can.
People also complain that during the Ukrainian occupation of Crimea, the agriculture of the peninsular was systematically destroyed. Crimea was even forbidden producing their own ice cream.

Don't count me as hater. I like the general idea of EU (while watching it from a country that voted twice against joining the EU), but I also see its flaws, which systemically remind of the flaws of USSR.
As you yourself pointed out to me with regard to your attitude towards Russia, criticizing does not mean hating.
I wasn't talking about you specifically but you did think and wrote that this might led the EU to ruin. I don't think so and I doubt that even turning off all trades with russia might inflict such a serious damage to the union. Time will tell if any of us is right but I do hope we won't have to pick a winner. I hope not, too. However, I do believe that EU stands to lose more if this kindergarten bantering of sanctions, counter-sanctions and counter-counter-sanctions continues. I would have given a different prognosis 6-7 years ago, when European economy was much stronger, but not now. Even though Russian economy saw only a moderate, if any, improvement, European economy has been on a steady downward trend. The problem is the same as in USSR, where there were only a few donor republics, with the rest living off of them. Once donor republic's excess capacity is used up, the system is in a dangerous state. In EU, such donor republics are Germany and France, and they are at the breaking point trying to sustain the union. |

Panic? What panic? They have invited them to talk. It;s that not the normal way problems should be dealt with? And russia should be thankful if they get their debt back. 8% inflation according to the central bank...and those are official numbers... What about the 8 previous rounds of talks, some of them openly sabotaged or abandoned by Kiev representatives? By your logic my electricity provider should be thankful that I at all pay for the power at the end of each month... |

I am not surprised. Those in Kiev are not smart enough to even think this one up. Yet their Washington handlers are desperate at making any case, however absurd, that they can stick to Russia - after all, that was the main goal of downing of MH-17.

The most amusing thing that I find here, is all the Westerners that seemingly dream seeing Russian economy fail and Russia plunged into 1917-style chaos. What they don't realise, is that by doing so, they cut the branch that they are themselves sitting on (or digging their own grave). I think I have enough of you. Russian weapons? Really? The whole of Ukraine and half of the former Soviet satellites use Russian/Soviet weapons. USA told Poland to ship their Soviet-time weapons to Ukraine and buy replacement NATO weapons instead. Russian artillery support?
On the video the scale of the Google-Earth angled image and the elevation of the virtual eye, and the small stretch of a water do not match. Could be anywhere in the region. Besides, the border is not exactly enforced. The freedom fighters could move their positions across the border to get a better vantage point and then drive to a new location. Now, what about Ukrainian armed groups (note that I am not saying that it was the Ukrainian army) artillery shelling the Russian cities?
Also, as other people point out, the lighting conditions in the video do not correspond to the stated time of day of the shelling - the sun setting in the north and it becomes dark at 16:00 in the middle of the summer? And this was already denied by OSCE observers in the area. Pull another one - it has bells on.

Two lies in one sentence. Well done. It's been discussed before. *Sigh* No one invaded Crimea. The Russian troops stationed there were there from Russian (prior to 1917) and throughout Soviet times, even after Crimea was stolen from Russia in 1954 and again denied independence from Ukraine in 1993. And no one invaded East Ukraine. US intelligence watches that region like a hawk and still cannot even cook any evidence? |
