ProtoSharesProtoShares uses a new Momentum Proof of Work (POW) algorithm that is designed to be GPU and ASIC resistant. http://invictus-innovations.com/s/MomentumProofOfWork.pdfThere's a $5000 bounty for anyone who can prove it is vulnerable to GPUs or ASICs. http://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=22.0BackingAs well as being an altcoin, ProtoShares is a way to own BitShares before they are launched. You can also use the debug console to start mining. setgenerate true 1 setgenerate true 2 setgenerate true 3 After 4 or 5 minutes of mining, you can type 'getmininginfo' to see the hashespermin rate. Note there is a 3 process maximum because of memory limitations on the win32 client. You can run a second or third instance of the program if you want to try running more processes. You'll need to wait 4 or 5 minutes before that figure shows something meaningful. In the meantime, you can check on your CPU/Memory usage - these should be higher than usual if you're mining. Q:Why is my win32 client crashing? This happens because too much memory is allocated. If you type 'set generate' or 'set generate -1', this is likely to run too many threads, try to allocate too much memory, and crash. Use the settings menu to start mining or type 'set generate 3' - where 3 is the maximum. To run more threads, you need to start another instance of the client. Q:How do I start another instance of the client? You need to use a different port and data directory, here's a sample command line - protoshares-qt.exe -port=5672 -datadir=C:\dataalt2 Q:Why would I want to be involved in another one of your coins after the MemoryCoin debacle? This isn't my coin, I was just contracted to get it up and running with a basic client. As far as any altcoin has an 'owner' - that would be Invictus Innovations, who have bigger plans for it. This whole thread is an unofficial information thread to distribute and gather information about ProtoShares launch and mining. Please keep discussions on-topic. Off-topic and inflammatory posts will be removed. The exchange is down for most of the day. They are upgrading and doing maintenance on it. Will they have an English version of it?

Thanks for the Beeeeer guide - I just got a droplet up and running (used your referral link), and everything seemed to install correctly. However, the mining speed is rather slow, I am getting 44.5 c/m, while I get 87 c/m on an Intel 4 core i5 running 3 threads.
It appears that the 8 cpu cloud instance running 8 threads is under-performing.... my lowly desktop is finding collisions at a 5 to 1 ratio over the Digital Ocean server.
Any thoughts?
PcGUoRite52tgEpbd5mv3dgdZi16TUkWzd
VPS/virtual cores are always going to perform less then physical cores, because those VPS cores are emulated.

They have been having a lot of server issues and the port issues don't help either. Looks like mining is working, but it sucks not to have a front-end to see mining info and coin balances.

Wait, that makes it more valuable than litecoin, doesn't it? Btc-e - LTCUSD - $4.13 i\m sorry i dont understand fiat what is it in btc? i think there are only 2 million protoshares so no it would not be worth more than litecoin... not yet at least... 1 BTC = 2640 CNY (Approximately), I might be off, but that's about the range it's in.

some one is selling 10.000.000 ifc infinitecoin for 2.5 gbp what is the true value of this coin in $ if the market cap is 121,773 Thought is was against ToS to sell cryptocurrency on ebay? That's why BTC isn't sold there. i did buy btc on ebay 1 week ago and got it in my wallet dont know what are you talking about can i buy food with ifc?? If you look at ToS (Terms of Service). it's against their policy to sell BTC or anything like that. Mining hardware is legal to sell. There was an article about it somewhere online a guy selling BTC got his paypal account froze by ebay.

I registered and did the guide for the software, but it's online and attempted to connect 11 times. It still has not started to find work to fold. I did the folding instructions exactly shown on the guide and I am doing it on a VPS. I restarted it and still the same issue:

need to register the same name as fah name? Like I said, I followed the instructions exactly. Obviously, I have to use the same user name on the pool for the user name for Folding@Home project.

Seems like all the PTS Pools are down. Is it the Pools having the issues and/or is it the PTS Network/Code the problem?
Update 8:58PM PST 11/14/13: It was down for 15 minutes and now it's up again. Geez, these pools are having major issues with PTS.

Which part is a scam, the Primecoin part, or the yPool part? 99% of people that say scam, never really give valid and tangible facts to back it up most of the time. Just an opinion until a fact is given, then it isn't a truth and speculation wouldn't hold in a court of law.
