I'm happy to announce, that http://hashco.ws has now launched a 'Get Paid in MintCoin' option to the pool.  Sign Up, and head on over to 'Account Settings' where you'll see the option of changing from the standard BTC payout option to MINT.

Our pool also has the unique option of being able to keep other altcoins we mine as well, should you so choose.  We welcome all the members of the mint community who wish to give us a shot. Please feel free to join us on irc.  Freenode / #hashcows  Its in a bit of a beta these first few days, as we work out any kinks with the mint payouts specifically, however the pool itself has been operational for more than 6 months now.   MINT payouts will happen between 03:30 - 04:00 GMT daily.

For the time being, there is no additional fee for being paid out in MINT vs. BTC,

Happy Mining Smiley

Great news! Bumping it to the front  Grin

Hey guys, why should I prefer Mintcoin over Blackcoin? Any ideas? What is the difference?

Considering Blackcoin's rise ... I think Mintcoin is much more undervalued right now.

That & it pays 20% interest vs. 1% interest of Blackcoin...

Blackcoin seems to be exploding, but most of it is psychological. If you were to double Mintcoin's current price we would be at 32 satoshi, and have a higher market cap than BC has at the moment. A 16 satoshi move could happen in minutes when you consider the true value of Mint.

-20% interest for people who buy now. That's 200k extra coins if you buy 1 million.
-multipools that pay out in mint coming online
-android wallet soon
-Environmental fund established
-Added to Vault of Satoshi
-First coin to go from proof of work to proof of stake

I know there is more, but I'm tired at the moment.  Cheesy
-Mintcoin is a better name
-Mintcoin had a better PoW distribution and currently has at least 3x-6x bigger community (based on reddit subscribers 800/250 and facebook 1000/155)
-Better security as Mintcoin is still a hybrid PoW/PoS for which enhances the security of the network.

Overall, imo, Blackcoin looks very highly manipulated to me, price isn't everything, and it could be that it is wolong or 1-2 persons that own like 50% of the coins and is trading with himself to artificially inflate the trading volume and prices. Why would BC have a higher market cap than mintcoin with 3x-6x smaller community? Smells of pump manipulation to me.

Yup, and don't forget that Mintcoin already has much, much more infrastructure in place. See sig, I am a MINT and BC supporter but I think MINT has more potential in the long run. BC excites but also scares me... I'm having a hard time believing its current price is organic, and I still don't understand how it protects against attack forks as a pure PoS system (somebody plz explain if they can).
1963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FlutterCoin FLT - NEW Innovative Proof Of Transaction - PoT / PoW / PoS on: March 25, 2014, 03:14:59 AM
Why is everyone selling? This coin is the first of it's kind. guess no one values its functions, yet?
Most of those "everyone" are multipools who automatically convert the mined coins of their users into btc. And as long as the price and hashrate are so low and the mining keeps being so profitable they will keep mining and selling fluttercoins.
But I don't really see this as a problem. At least not a problem we can easily fix without other big miners mining fluttercoin permanently and making it unprofitable to mine fluttercoin for the multipools. Anyway it's not that much coins, you can see the price is rising. And every day Fluttercoin gets new people interested who are willing to invest in it, so the more time goes by, the smaller the "problem" becomes. Actually I think it's a good thing. The multipools push the trade volume.  Wink

Cheers

Yup and now there's also the BC multipool which will dump FLT if it is most profitable... FLT might want to make a similar multipool at some point. eat or be eaten  Undecided
1964  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 25, 2014, 02:59:35 AM
Soo.. Any scamcoins been killed yet? And how much money has this group gotten out of extortion so far? Just curious... Why don't you guys just put your hashpower to the blackcoin or mintcoin multipools that are popping up? Those will probably have more success at killing shitcoins, and you will profit from it without having to run a racket.

Mintcoin is a a cheesy greenwash and will be absorbed into blackcoin in no time.

How do you suppose an un-minable coin will be consumed by blackcoin's multipools? Blackcoin is great (i'm a fan of both), but keep in mind that all mintcoin needs to do is jump from 16 sat to 32 sat and it will once again have a larger marketcap than BC (at this moment, anyways, who knows with BCs growth how long that will be the case though).... also keep in mind that Mintcoin has waaaaay more infrastructure already in place than BC does, so if/once it does jump up it will be sitting pretty.

edit: Also, i think blackcoin should reconsider its motto if it has plans to go big in the long-term. "Once you go black..." seems like somewhat of a racist sexual innuendo and I don't see that helping garner mass adoption imho.

Congratulations guys, Prospercoin has been added to the shitcoin list. It's guilty until proven innocent; the burden of proving this is not so is on you. Silence is considered admission of guilt.

Everybody please report operation shitcoin to the moderators- they are running an extortion racket, making people pay them money to prevent them from killing their coin. It's a great idea in theory (to clean out scamcoins), but they are turning into more of a scam/problem than what they are trying to "fix".

Vault of Satoshi has just announced that Mintcoin will be added in April along with some other coins.

They are also going to be adding coin to coin trading to eliminate the going through BTC step...this is all great news

This is very good news indeed. I wish VoS still operated in the USA :/
1968  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *21 Exchanges *26 Merchants on: March 24, 2014, 06:35:18 PM

Lets see if we can make this our new floor.

Now that is what I call a quicky pump and dump  Cry

hold...

Indeed. HODL! This is just the beginning, I believe.

The Fluttercoin official website is now up and running, needs some polishing here and there but it looks great.  Thanks to lumeire!

http://www.fluttercoin.us/

+1. Looks great!

I'm starting to really dig the idea of this coin... Seems like PoT is precisely what is needed to balance out the incentive to hold due to PoS and encourage spending of the coin.
1972  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 23, 2014, 09:45:28 PM
We are getting close to getting operational, Pools being setup and other various attack vectors.

Soon we will be in a position to take applications and fees from coin developers who are legit and do not want to be attacked!

Probably need to put up a website and application process / quiestionarie and Attack list at this point.

This is the definition of an extortion racket. Somebody alert the authorities.
1973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *20 Exchanges *26 Merchants on: March 23, 2014, 05:03:06 PM

It doesnt matter if  it has some purpose  or good community. It is all about few rich guys, who use one or another   cryptocurrenty to pump and dump tactic, in order to earn money.

Seems like if a coin was able to break free of this self-destructive paradigm and survive the fracture then it might have a chance to be successful in a whole new way, huh? I like that. Shouldn't that be what all new "innovative" coins strive for? Rather than complying to the conventional model of "pump and dump"?
1974  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Mintcoin Fund on: March 22, 2014, 06:35:14 PM
Alright (I am getting impatient, I decide after just three persons Smiley)

The main topic will be on mintcointalk but one of the first duty will be to keep some intersperced discussions on bitcointalk for getting some newcomers to know it (I will hardly be able to handle this, this will be a job for the commmunity management team).

Here is the text I just wrote on mintcointalk.com. Since this is the first one, I will copy it in its entirety but please reply there in the future (that's topic #400, btw): Mintcoin Fund.

Quote
Hi everyone,
Project F is finally unveiled. I told you (and the dev told you also earlier) that it would be huge and it is.
Much like bitcoin, litecoin and dogecoin, we are opening up a foundation.
The Mintcoin Fund (for legal reason, it could not be named Foundation) will focus on promoting Mintcoin and sustainable development initiative. Excerpt from the bylaws (translated, the official text is in French) :
Quote
The goal of Mintcoin Fund is to promote the Mintcoin cryptocurrency and its underlying goal of reducing humany environmental footprint.
Legally speaking, this will be an endowment fund under the French Law. It will be open to anyone with no distinction of nationality or even age (although some responsabilites will be off-limit for non-emancipated minors).
There is no entrance fee. Everything is open to consideration. Here are some of the topic already considered:
  • an official escrow service. It will deal only in mintcoin, and will either be free of charge or fees will be donated to the Mintcoin Fund (which in turn MIGHT compensate the
  • Mintcoin Fund actually handling the escrow, but nothing for sure — if we can automate the process, we could avoid this).
This thread will be the main topic of discussion. Much like the ANN on bitcointalk, I believe a single very large topic draws more attention than several small topic (people judge by the amount of pages).

It will be necessary to regularly update advancements on the bitcointalk page too, at least for getting more persons involved.

Another brillant news (althoug less huge, I'd say) will be announced next week. Stay tuned!
Happy to have woken up to this good news Smiley Long term future of Mint is looking great, and that's what I'm here for.

1977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TopCoin, Unique coin with rapid Block Halving (2 Days) on: March 21, 2014, 09:23:28 PM
I really can not understand where are the dumpers from these days. There is no miner of TOP any more, and I belive most people bought higher than 3 sat, why they dump? I don't understand, but it seems MINTPAL is a scam site, every coin is dumped except the one they want to pump.

Just curious, how would this be possible? Mintpal is just one exchange, not even the highest volume exchange, so how could they control the market like that?
1978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FlutterCoin FLT Official Information Thread on: March 21, 2014, 09:01:29 PM
PoS: when does it start, what coinage is required to stake, what is the % reward?

This would be good info to have on the OP imho.
1979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FlutterCoin FLT Official Information Thread on: March 21, 2014, 08:32:39 PM
Hey all, sorry for the stupid question: What is the PoS setup for this coin? (when does it start, what coinage is required to stake, what is the % reward?). Sorry if this is already posted somewhere obvious.

Thanks

Anybody know? I don't see this info on the OP.
