Give a tramp a million dollars and see if he still eats food from bins. Give me a million dollars and see if I ever eat Ramen noodles ever again. I never said he has to spend them all, but his money is sitting in wallets doing nothing.

If somebody gave you or anybody else billions I'd find it odd if you or they just kept it in a bank and did nothing with it.

Satoshi isn't you or me. What i 'm trying to say is that the guy is obviously in a whole different level and that he is considering seriously every single move he makes. Don't forget that he managed to stay anonymous so far. I don't think that he 'll ever use any coins that can reveal his identity or risk in any way what he created.

How do you know? I could be Satoshi Grin. Him being on a whole different level is part of his myth; he's only human at the end of the day. A pioneer for sure, but look at all the cryptocoins that have popped up in his wake. Nobody even knows if he is even one person. Why does he wish to remain anonymous? Maybe he doesn't and one day will reveal himself. Maybe he's biding his time waiting for his billion to become a trillion? Who knows; it's all speculation.

I agree that his myth grows more with all that anonymity about him but i think he is doing it because he is kinda paranoid and believes that what he created might disrupt a lot of things and make some powerfull people unhappy. And you know what they say about paranoid people? That even paranoids have enemies. That's why i 'm saying that he isn't going to risk anything just to buy a car or something.

I understand that, but I don't think his world would've come tumbling down around him if he had bought a car or purchased some foie gras a year or two ago haha. I guess it makes it even more difficult to move the cash now as time goes on with more and more people watching it like hawks. It is an interesting story/myth either way and it's exciting to see what happens.  I just can't comprehend him not dipping into it at all. Even for a relatively unmaterialistic person, sitting in front of a billion and not touching it at all seems quite bizarre. I guess you could speculate eternally on his motives and whereabouts and reasons for hoarding his cash etc.

Signing up for the first time.

Question: Do I have to put my post count in this thread on the 18th of every month to enroll for the next month?

No. you do not have to post again on the 18th if you want to enroll.  You can post on the 30th if you really wanted to, or any day before the next month's 17th.

Ok now I got conflicting responses (See don response above).  I understand on the 17th I have to PM Stunna with count but then I just don't know if I just wait until the 17th of the next month to PM him again or if I need to re-post here.  Thanks if someone can clarify (I'm inclined to trust monbux as I've dealt with him before, no offense don).

I think you just post in here saying you're starting again for the new month and state your post count, then PM him on the 17th jan.
19723  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] £28 worth of BTC [UKBT] on: December 05, 2013, 09:46:03 PM
Looking to buy £28 worth of BTC in the UK, using a UK Bank Transfer.
Not done this before, hoping this small purchase will help me get established both in the market and community.
First confirm you're selling, then we can talk over Skype or even over the phone to hash out the details and rates.

Want to recieve the Bitcoin to my Blockchain wallet, so people will be able to see it all go through.

They/we can see any transaction. All transactions are recorded on the blockchain. Make sure to use escrow on all currency deals.

Escrow on what? On 0.02btc?
Really?

Good advice though.

With trusted sellers u can go ahead and no one will risk his trust being ruined for so small amount.

I've seen people get scammed out of smaller amounts than that. If you're happy to not use escrow then that is up to the parties involved, but don't put it past someone to try steal your £12 of BTC.

I dont think anyone knowns all Satoshi Nakamoto addresses, so saying he does not spend any Bitcoins recently is bit odd.

I'm just going by what everybody seems to be saying and that's that they know all his wallets. Obviously there's no way to tell how many he has, and yes, I would assume he has at least spent some of his horde.

You can still track the blocks from the Satoshi mining era.
Very few of those have ever moved , and if they moved they did long before the price went nuts and there are traces where they went. Early guys one this project.
Most of the blocks believed to be mined by Satoshi himself are untouched.

Well that is very interesting indeed. Maybe he is dead, or maybe forgot his passwords  Grin

localbitcoins.com

Thanks!

You are right to be cautious, and I understand the apprehension about using exchanges, but if you want to get currencies quickly and at market rate; you're probably just going to have to take the plunge and sign up/get verified.

Which would you use? - If I went this route was thinking BTCe rather than MtGox, as could then convert some to Litecoin (looks promising!)

Couldn't tell you - I don't use 'em and have heard bad things about both, but btc-e does seem to be far better from what I've read and heard.
19727  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are you thinking about bitcoins future? on: December 05, 2013, 08:41:40 PM
It will become more and more main stream and then the next big war will make it disappear like any currency.

Like the european currencies, the euro and dollar... they all go away sooner or later.. the euro will go first, then the dollar and then even bitcoin will cease to exist... reality is a btch^^

lol.

Any guesses about the price either later today, tomorrow, a year or several years later are all speculation.

You can buy BTC easily, quickly and safely with paypal on ebay, but you're going to pay a big premium. You could try find somebody to sell you coins on here, just make sure to use a trusted escrow.

You are right to be cautious, and I understand the apprehension about using exchanges, but if you want to get currencies quickly and at market rate; you're probably just going to have to take the plunge and sign up/get verified. Alternatively, you could try sell some of your stuff on the marketplace here.

19730  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it worth mining anything with a common desktop computer at this point? on: December 05, 2013, 07:54:10 PM
Primecoin mining (currently CPU only) yields about 1 USD/day right now on a normal computer. This should be enough to be profitable, but the price will most likely rise before you decide to do something with your money.

And how much is electricity to keep your pc on all day?

It's not worth mining on a standard PC at all. What currency are you wanting to mine? Try out a newer currency as you get more coins easier and quicker.
19731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IFC InfiniteCoin Reward Halves Today on: December 05, 2013, 07:36:06 PM
they really have 2 values. the IFC/LTC value and the fiat value. compared to LTC/BTC they are worth nothing but to individuals they appear to be relatively valuable. its this apparent value im interested in, if i trade 1m IFC for LTC i have 1 LTC but if i sell 1M IFC for £100 i can buy 3 LTC. will the apparent value increase due to perceived decrease in supply or will the decrease in supply cause this value to decrease. Guess this should be in the speculation thread!

Does anyone know when they'll be fully mined? Somebody said they would be soon, but maybe they meant the blocks halving.

I have faith in Bitcoin. What do you have faith in?

Thanks a lot for that.Do you know if they all allow me to have multiple signatures at the same time while letting me get away with posting once n a while and not constantly posting due to a great number of personal commitments? Could you just do a quick check for me as I find the long threads confusing as info is often mixed up with other things? Thanks Smiley

With Primedice you cant. The others don't say, but usually not. All info can be found on their first page. You're not going to get paid for not making many posts; that's the whole point of the advertisements.

it is a smart scheme if you can find enough people of questionable intelligence and infinite desperation.

There's millions of 'em, and one is born every minute.
19736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IFC InfiniteCoin Reward Halves Today on: December 05, 2013, 06:15:51 PM
Isn't this coin basically worthless? So I would say not real change.

Yes, but people seem to be buying a million of them for over £100 on ebay. Don't know how many of them are scammers though. It will be interesting to see how much they become worth in the future though.
19737  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A friend's idea to promote on: December 05, 2013, 06:13:46 PM
Yeah and of course people should be careful.

Again I wasn't trying to get donations or ask for anything. Maybe a simple good idea girl! Or nice butt! Lol

Im going to start selling btc/ltc for paypal as soon as gain enough reputation around here.

How do you plan on avoiding chargebacks?
Iv been selling on other large forums already, chargebacks are easy to deal with through phonecalls.
Tip: Paypal does not cover virtual items.

Yeah, and that's why they'll issue a chargeback to the buyer without warning or investigating. I bought all my coins via paypal when I first started with cryptos so I know it's possible to make good money, but it's only a matter of time before you get scammed.
actually no when i get chargedback I call paypal and tell them the item was sent, they'll cancel the chargeback since theres no proof that i didnt send

Is there proof that you did? This seems to contradict stories I've read numerous times on here. PP/ebay seem to dish out refunds for anything if you don't have proof that you posted it.
Selling on forums with other members I mean, PP will always side with the buyer on ebay

I've seen many instances of both unfortunately.
fortunately for me I know how to deal with chargebacks Smiley

Let's put it to the test. Willing to sell me some coins via paypal?
