We are only 1 week away from the 1st qualify sprint in the history of Formula 1.
It will be next Saturday and as you may know, it is not with the purpose of attracting young people to the sport since as we know the young generation is a lost cause for the level of attention.
It will be a race of 17 laps in England, Silverstone.
I am also curious about the new qualifying and sprint race format, I can not quite classify it yet but I will look at it once without prejudice.
Silverstone has always been a good track for Mercedes in recent years, what do you think, can Mercedes fight back against RedBull at Silverstone?
Mercedes had three weeks to draw some conclusions and try to reduce the gap in the race pace. On the other hand, this is not such a significant period to do something epoch-making. In any case, Red Bull's adviser Helmut Marko, who has a huge influence on the team, said that Mercedes will continue to fight in any case as long as there are at least some mathematical chances of this. Another question is what some experts saw in Hamilton's order to let Bottas go ahead in the last race, because he has a faster racing pace, as a hint that Mercedes is no longer betting on the title in the personal championship, but is shifting the focus to winning the Constructors ' Cup.

i don't know whats up with them, but they always fail miserably, even some good players couldn't do anything with Arsenal, Ozil was a really good player he helped real madrid a lot, especially with his assists, but came to Arsenal and became an average player, Arsenal need a good coach, and players who can play good with each other, there has to be chemistry between them, and i think a coach can make that happen.
They had a great coach, they had Arsene Wenger who even though at times really had bad years, still had great years as well so I am not sure if that's the case, even a coach like him who would be in hall of fame of managers in history didn't made Arsenal into some long term big name, sure in branding sense it did but that's about it. So I do not doubt that they would be improving with a great manager, but I doubt it would be as much as people assume, give Pep Arsenal for 10 years and he would not be able to turn that team into constantly championship contender, at beast maybe a chance to be top three but that's about it at the very best.
I think it is the front office and the locker room and the staff all that has to leave, the whole team looks like they ruin the chemistry of everyone that comes in, hence why Ozil became not so great as well, because whoever goes there from another place sees the difference of how not so great the atmosphere is there.
It's just that the Arsenal management was quite satisfied that with a certain budget, not the most huge by the standards of the league, but not so small, Arsene Wenger still kept the team's game at a certain level and even sometimes achieved titles. The English Premier League is a very strong league and to constantly achieve results here it is not enough to have one super-level player. We need constant work in the transfer market and the desire to invest huge amounts of money, which is not a priority of the current American owner of the team. Therefore, I am not sure that Pep Guardiola would have gone to Arsenal with such an attitude of the management to the club, and even more so for ten years, given that Guardiola does not seem to like to stay in one place of work for a very long time.

Congrats to Italy, well deserved victory, they played much better. No idea what happened to England, they were playing in their own city, with thousands of English fans and still didn't manage to pull it off. The penalty shootout is always hard to predict, it could go either way. But if even before that, Italy had so many more chances of winning than England. Higher ball possession, better pass accuracy, etc. England was lucky to make it into the shoot out. Unfortunately with my last big bet I lost even more money. This Euro 2020 was a huge red gamble for me, I lost almost all of my last 7 bets. First France, then Belgium, so many favourites just didn't perform.
Just England scored a quick goal and started playing to hold the score, giving the initiative to Italy and it was due to this that the advantage of Italy was formed according to statistical indicators. Southgate miscalculated with his bet on keeping the score, because when Italy equalized, England no longer had any arguments on how to change the game and tip the scales in their favor. I also didn't like that the head coach of the England national team entrusted the decisive blow to such a young player as Saka. Pickford did everything possible for his part to bring his team a victory in the penalty shootout, but those players whom Southgate released specifically for the penalty shootout and who obviously specially prepared for this series, still could not justify their hopes and did not score.

The more days pass the more probable Ronaldo will stay in Italy for at least 1 more year. I have a doubt that he is only talking about if extend his contract by 1 more year or not.
A player like him is not only a player who is a business, he is not like a normal player who can change a team in 3 days. A player like him needs months for the transfer, he is a player worth billions in the economy. For this reason, since Juventus should already know what Ronaldo wants to do and since they are calm in the market without spending any money (if he leave Juventus will have a decent power of fire for the market) yet I think the decision is to stay.
In any case, some work on the part of the agent in this direction is carried out in any case and under any circumstances, especially in the current times of the epidemic, when the financial condition of many rich clubs has been shaken and not the clubs are ready to pay the previous salaries to their leaders. Moreover, it is necessary to realize that we do not have all the complete information on this issue and this information is only brought to us in fragments only as rumors. I agree that the situation with such transfers is not solved in three days, but this does not deny that work in this direction can go on for more than three days, but we simply do not know anything about it.
1985  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 12, 2021, 10:27:45 PM
They can afford him but that doesnt mean they need him on the club. Manchester City needs to fill the pure striker slot left by Aguero so its either Haaland or Harry kane. Both requires a big amount so they are not going to try to sign Messi and aside from that Premier League is not the at the same level as Ligue 1 so they cant just sign Messi and hopes Messi will carry the team
Only a few clubs can afford Messi or Ronaldo also. Even if a big salary is not an issue, they are too old and they are not players you can count on for more than two years.
Top teams from PL, buy young players who have potential and they have several years of good football ahead of them. Sometimes as a backup option is an older player, but I don't believe Messi will agree to sit on the bench.
Of course, neither Ronaldo nor Messi in their current state will agree to sit on the bench, because they still feel the strength and desire to continue playing at a high level. If you remember, for example, at the time of the leadership of Sorry Juventus as a head coach, Ronaldo generally caused a scandal at the club when Sarri replaced him during the match. I think that there are other clubs in the Premier League besides Paris Saint-Germain who would agree to the transfer of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, despite their age. Of course, any top club wants to have strong young players for the future, but in such clubs the result is needed immediately, so very often young promising players are sent on loan to other clubs so that they gain experience and skill there.

My big congratulations to the Italian national team on winning EURO 2020! Italy deserved this victory with their level of play and dedication, but I still preferred that the victories in such important tournaments were won in the main or, at least, extra time, rather than in a penalty shootout, which spoils the impression a little. Because the winner of the penalty shootout gets all the glory and honor, and the losers remain on the sidelines, despite the fact that they very often were almost as good as the winners. England could not finally win their first European Championship, but still made a big step forward, finally getting to the final of the tournament. Mancini has done an excellent job in his post by making a champion of a team that recently experienced a crisis and could not qualify for the World Cup. Also, the fusion of youth and experience of the Italian team, which did not give up, conceding a goal at the very beginning and equalized the score, and then won, deserves wonderful words.

With this national title and happiness from it, will Messi sign another contract with Barcelona? 2 year contract, is it possible?
I don't know what this Copa America situation has anything to do with Barcelona situation. Don't get me wrong I am sure Messi is very very happy right now, and maybe he didn't want to renew his contract or go to another team before the cup was over, he waited until this cup was over that’s possibility. However his winning doesn't really change what his situation will be, or even if he lost it would probably not change it.
I feel like it was always his intention to declare his next move after the cup no matter what the result was, and the win doesn't really impact that. This dude is a big time Barcelona guy who has been there for over 20 years now, nearly 25 years, I really think that it would be not only surreal to see him in another jersey, but also it would be a very difficult life for him to move somewhere else, other players can because they move all the time but this dude played in Barcelona for 25 years, he is not used to moving around and I think it could be very difficult for him.
It seems that Barcelona has settled all the issues with La Liga on the salary cap and La Liga has allowed Barcelona to register a contract. Messi also instructed his father Jorge Messi to negotiate an agreement and he reached an agreement with the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta. By the way, it seems that none of the sponsors has suspended cooperation with the football player, despite some uncertainty in his future career. There was also information that Barcelona is not going to sell Griezmann and is quite happy with his game, and the player himself does not express any intentions to change the team in this transfer window.

It's been really a boring weekend as we haven't had any race this time. I was really accustomed to it after seeing 3 races in 3 weeks in a row. But this week, we're finally going to have a race in Britain. And it's going to be a little different from the other races so far. Because we're going to see the sprint qualifying for the first time. I'm really excited about it. I believe that it will increase the joy level for the spectators and they will continue to add this format to some races. And maybe, they will start adding it to every race after a point.
Yes, this will really be a new word in the long-established Formula 1 racing system and it will be interesting to see how all this will look and whether the innovation will take root in the racing calendar, because the innovation also has opponents, such as the head of the Mercedes team. Also, Lewis Hamilton expressed his skeptical attitude, who is not sure that the spectacle will be exciting and there will be a large number of overtaking. However, you should not rush to evaluate in advance and preliminary conclusions can be made only when it finally takes place. In the end, everything is done for the sake of the audience and the opinion of the audience will certainly be decisive.

Dortmund is a club that sells their best player every season for bigger money,so it's no longer news whether they will sell or not,the moment a huge amount of money comes for him, believe me,Dortmund will sell Haaland, but not for a small amount.Any team that will acquire his services must have to break the bank in securing him.
I think that Dortmund would be happy to leave a player like Haaland for some more time to try to find a worthy replacement for his position, but if there is a really impressive amount, the club will sell the player, as it has already happened many times. According to the latest information, the head coach of Chelsea in London, Tuchel, appealed to the club's management with a request to buy Haaland already in this summer window. I think that the activation of Chelsea in this direction may force other applicants for the player to also step up their efforts and the deal will really be able to take place in the near future.

It is still interesting to know about Ronaldo's future, where two big teams, PSG and Manchester United, have said they are interested in signing Ronaldo. There are also rumors that say Ronaldo will soon extend his contract at Juventus, hopefully it's true. Because I think it's better for Ronaldo to stay at Juventus, I see Ronaldo's role at Juventus is very important. But if the salary offer given by Juventus does not match what Ronaldo wants, Ronaldo will most likely leave Juventus.
Yes, I am also interested in how this situation with Ronaldo will be resolved. I think that everything will be decided by the economic situation at Juventus and whether the club is able to pay wages to such an expensive player. Also, a lot depends on the desire of the player himself, because in addition to rumors about Ronaldo's desire to change the club at the end of the season, new information about the desire of the player himself has not been received. However, recently slipped information about the fact that the player's agent allegedly offered the club to extend the contract, and the club asked for time to think, indirectly may indicate that Ronaldo still decided to stay at Juventus.
1991  Economy / Economics / Re: Is money the root of all evil as the poor to thinks? on: July 10, 2021, 11:58:04 PM
In the end we ourselves have to choose, whether to use money for bad or good things. But the sad thing is that more and more criminal acts are emerging because of money. People who are experiencing economic difficulties will lose their minds, they will turn evil to earn money. The surprising thing is that rich people can also be evil, because they can't control their greed. So it is not a guarantee that having a lot of
money will make us wise and good, it all depends on how we live this life.
It's just that some people, on the contrary, earn a lot of money precisely because they are evil, ruthless to their neighbor, have not the best moral principles and nothing can be done about it if it happened completely within the law. Also, do not forget that everything in this world is relative and it is not always possible to say with great confidence where the border lies between thrift and greed, good and evil. Much also depends on the cultural attitudes of the society in which we live, a specific time, a specific country and region. In different places and cultures, the same things can be both approved and condemned.
1992  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 Postponed 21 on: July 10, 2021, 11:47:42 PM
It's sad to see news that Olympic Games will be played without spectators. It won't be easy to watch competition in empty stadiums, especially after watching EURO 2020 in almost full stadiums and great atmosphere. For athletes it also won't be easy to compete without any support. Wouldn't be surprised if it will be worst Olympic Games ever.
For sure without fans around, the games will be dry as compare to previous Olympics. There are other sports though around the world that allowed fans to watch the game like you have said. So I agree that it will be sad to see the biggest sporting events in Japan without fans cheering for each respecting countries. Could be the worst Olympics, but health of the athletes comes first.
Japan authorities didn't decide that for the health of the athletes but to protect the health of their own people. They are really afraid to spread the virus across the population, and to import too many variant cases, including the Indian one which is the most dangerous variant to date while vaccines aren't able to stop it.
I think a country that is really afraid like this shouldnt even host the olympic games! They should have given someone else to host this games. Empty stadiums are just sad even tho its a pandemic
It's just that the time for transferring to another country has already been lost, and the excessive confidence of the Japanese authorities and the International Olympic Committee last year played a role, that the transfer to this year will solve all the problems with the pandemic by itself. As we can see, the pandemic continues and states are not yet able to fully cope with this problem even with the availability of vaccines. New dangerous coronavirus mutations continue to appear. Also, do not forget about public opinion in Japan, which is clearly not in favor of holding the Olympic Games. It's just that the decision has already been made, the funds for training have already been spent and we should already come to terms with this fact.
1993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: July 10, 2021, 11:36:15 PM
I also haven't heard about this player. It's the thing Arsenal do. They bring young players to the team and try to create a 'future squad'.  Grin  But I don't support this policy to be honest. I'm not an Arsenal fan but I sympathize with them. They're actually a big club but they're not able to win titles because of their policies. If they changed it and started to get top players also, they would also compete for the EPL title. So their main problem is not the manager I think, it is their strategies in general.
It's just that Arsenal does not want to invest in strengthening the squad above a certain limit, and in the conditions of the super-competitive English Premier League, this is an iron necessity for a steady conquest of titles. Everything depends on the figure of the club owner, who is quite satisfied with the current situation and who does not want to change the situation with financing, nor shows any desire to sell the club to interested parties. If you remember, for some time the creator of Spotify expressed a desire to buy the club, having managed to attract such club legends as Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Viyera to his side, but the American owner Stan Kroenke did not want to sell the club.

Transfer rumours:
Manchester United lead Chelsea and neighbours Manchester City in the race sign England striker Harry Kane, 27, with Tottenham asking for £100m plus two of the Red Devils' first-team players. A very interesting race, who will eventually succeed and bring Kane to their club?  Cheesy
Manchester City have made contact with France forward Antoine Griezmann, 30, about a potential move from Barcelona. Very interesting news, whether Griezmann will really go to Manchester?
Are Manchester City going for Harry Kane and Antoine Griezmann both? I really started wondering about how much transfer budget they have now. Griezmann's market value is €60m. And I don't think that Barcelona would even think of losing him while they are having some financial problems also. They want to create funds for Messi though but they wouldn't like to lose one of their best players like Griezmann.
Manchester City should look for someone else I think.
In theory, Manchester City should be much more focused on the Kane deal. I think it will be a big mistake for Barcelona to sell Griezmann, like the mistake when Luis Suarez was sold, but the situation with Messi's contract may force the club to do this to fulfill the financial conditions of La Liga. Also, do not forget about the rumors talking about the contacts of Manchester City with the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo. It is unlikely that all three transfers can take place in reality, and it is also worth considering the opinion of Pep Guardiola on all this. However, the inclusion of other Manchester City players in the Kane deal may change the configuration of the squad and the transfer goals of the club.
1995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: July 10, 2021, 11:05:58 PM
I believe that getting ready made players is never a "bad investment" in the sense that they are definitely not bad players, it is just that sometimes you overpay for them. Let's take a look at Hazard and Bale, those players were bought by paying really good amount of money, and are they bad? They are certainly not bad, hell Bale even won them an UCL but eventually they started to be not as good as they hoped they would be and that is the problem, they are not bad, but they are not as good as they paid them to be and that is an issue.
Even in that case, they are still getting a good amount of players who are good and even if not a world superstar it is still much better than almost everyone in la liga and this gives them constant chance to win the league and that is a very good thing. I personally think that they should continue to do that as a transfer method.
If a player shows a good game, then there will be a lot of bidders for the purchase and, accordingly, a large price, because we get an analog of an auction, so some overpayment is inevitable. Especially in super clubs, you need a result here and now and there is no time to fine-tune a player to the right conditions, so a fairly common story for top clubs is buying a player and immediately renting it out just for the purpose of fine-tuning. In the situation with Eden Hazard, a big role was played by the great traumatism of the player, although earlier this was not observed for him at Chelsea, and in the situation with Bale, there was simply no necessary human approach to the player.

I am confused about this game i have seen all of italy and england games and it will be really difficult for england to get past a team like italy they should be carefull of their counter attacks and carefull to not conceid a goal because it will be difficult for them judging from the defensive play italy exposed during this euro.
If England know what is good for them, then they should not attempt to lose the lead to Italy either early in the match or halfway through. Why? In all of Italy's matches where they took the lead, they ended up winning and its even more dangerous because they might score one and won't hesitate to put another one past Pickford. We saw what they did to Belgium - put 2 past Courtois before the half time mark and those two strikes were enough to get them the win despite how hard Belgium fought back with De Bruyne and Lukaku.
Let's not be quick to remember that Italy has a strong defense ~ Chiellini and Bonucci + Donnarumma
I think that at the beginning of the match, we should not expect total dominance of any of the teams, because the stakes are too high and no one wants an unjustified risk. There is also a high probability that there will be few goals from one team, because in the 21st century only one team scored in the EURO finals and in three out of four cases the match score was 1-0. Although if one of the teams opens the score, there may be a situation that the other team will have to take more risks in attack and get another goal in the counterattack. The England national team generally concedes very little at this tournament and this "little" is only one goal, but Italy attacks quite well and England can concede more.

I can't believe how much PSG is spending once again, they are getting every person they can get, usually free transfers but they are really growing the team to a huge level. I wonder if they could actually convince Messi somehow. I know he is one of the most expensive players in the world and not many teams are willing to pay that because Messi is awesome and all but does he really worth that much money at that age? If he does that City may lose another battle against PSG as well and they may have like a Neymar-Messi-Mbappe offense.
~snip~
I actually want to see Messi at Manchester City. But if that doesn't happen, I hope that he goes to PSG. I can't even imagine how strong PSG can be with Neymar - Mbappe - Messi trio. They will have a really deadly offense surely. They can achieve bigger things easier than ever. But first, PSG should be able to convince him to sign contract with them. Messi's number one choice is still Barcelona. He is waiting for them to make a new offer. But Barcelona are having financial problems which hinders them offering a new contract to Messi. Maybe PSG or City can benefit from the situation.
I still think that Barcelona will find ways to keep Messi, because too much was at stake and Laporta won the club's presidency, including with a promise to keep Messi at the club, and the player himself, unlike last year, has already expressed a desire to stay at the club, although of course the situation is already starting to drag on too much. I would also like to see Messi in another championship with pleasure and see how quickly he could fit into the playing patterns of another club and how successfully he did it. On the one hand, the English Premier League is now much more statuesque than the French championship, but on the other hand, I think that it would be easier for Messi with his style of play to play in France.
1998  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: July 09, 2021, 11:51:58 PM
I don't think they will let Varane leaves. And if he leaves then Real Madrid won't find any replacement, it might bring a terrible season for them. Alaba won't be able carry the whole defense system of Real Madrid in a long season. A good defense system need to work as a system, with some good players. Marcelo is old too and his performance is unstable already.
They also could try to make one instead of buying. They have Vallejo and some more young CB's so Ancelotti needs to work out with that much only. I also saw a report a week ago about management saying "no transfers" to Ancelotti as they plan to save up for Mbappe or Haaland transfer in future. There were also reports about Mbappe not extending his contract and his contract runs out in June 2022.
Such super clubs as Real Madrid are used to buying ready-made players for the sake of quick results, although at times this can play a cruel joke on them Wink By the way, there is information that the head coach of Roma, Jose Mourinho, wants to see Marcelo in the squad and will try to persuade the Brazilian to move to his club, especially since they already worked together from 2010 to 2013. Therefore, Real Madrid can remain without Marcelo, despite his seemingly advanced age Wink Although I think that 33 years is not such a big age for a defender in modern times. As for Mbappe, it seems that Real Madrid would like to wait until 2022 to get the player for free.

The first factor that plays into the hands of England is the location. Playing in the Wembley stadium means a lot for the English team. The second factor are the fans.
Yes, playing at home always makes the difference, England team absolutely will feel it. By playing at Wembley, they should play more comfortably and have a bigger spirit with big supports from fans. With this situation, I believe that England team will take advantage of the mentality and probably prepare better since they are at home. Another factor that England team is in the top performance during this competition. They won't miss the chance to win EURO 2020, so they will play all out.
On the other hand, it can also interfere because of excessive excitement in front of their native stands, because let's not forget that the England national team has never won the European Championship, unlike the Italian national team, and the responsibility is very high. The Italian national team also does not want to miss its chance, so it is difficult to name a clear favorite in the upcoming match. Moreover, in my personal opinion, the tournament grid of Italy was stronger than that of the English national team, so I would give a slight preference to Italy in strength. In any case, everything will be decided in one match and anything can happen, and this Euro 2020 has already given us a lot of incredible scenarios.

Fixed United, and what's wrong with PSG lol, they want every player in this planet? Next time Messi lol.
BTW, La Liga imposed on Barca to economise €187M before the next season so they can register Depay, Aguero and Messi. AFAIK, selling players and reducing salaries won't be enough and they have to choose between Messi and Griezmann. Well buena suerte PSG/City?
Yeah, it's really interesting to see in a period like this. Although we're still in the covid-19 period, PSG don't seem to be affected too much. They are ready to make an offer for everyone. I wonder where they found this much money.  Grin  I'm curious about whether how many of these players will join PSG this summer. PSG can afford them seemingly but it doesn't mean that they'll definitely choose to go to PSG in the end.
If we add here the information that Paris Saint-Germain is also in contact with Cristiano Ronaldo's agent, then a funny picture emerges that PSG is present everywhere in the transfer market Grin However, it is absolutely not necessary to have a lot of money for all potential transfers, because potential interest does not necessarily mean a deal at all. Indeed, according to the current transfer rumors, it may seem that the Arab scheikhov from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have a much more stable financial situation than many other European giants who are forced to limit transfers or even sell players. Therefore, I think that Barcelona can really sell Griezmann in order to fulfill the financial conditions of La Liga.
