Have you read none of this thread?

Yes, I've read it all.
I think it's bullshit too, but still in the "interested to see how they answer that" phase.
I suppose I'm still a little reluctant to accept that Andresen and Matonis seemed to have bought, or are complicit in, a lie. If they have/are, the reasoning/motivation would be interesting to see.

Not that my opinion matters. Or yours.

And another "atmosphere" blog post from the BBC which I haven't seen linked yet

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-36185267

Quote
He accused journalists of threatening to make up stories about him if he did not cooperate and said lies had been told that would affect his family and his staff.

Quote
But he bridled at my suggestion that he could be a figurehead for the currency, making clear that this was the first and last television interview he would do. Having emerged from the shadows, Craig Satoshi Wright now wants to return to them as quickly as possible.

How ridiculous is that? The genie is out of the bottle, all that remains to be seen is if it's real, or smoke and mirrors.
1991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 02, 2016, 01:09:30 PM
Yes, it's the second time that Wright has attempted this.

An FT blog article from a month ago about the preparation for this try is here

As Gavin says in his blog, part of that preparation was flying him to London to meet Wright

Quote from: from Andresen email (supposedly)
I’d want to see:
A message signed with the same PGP key Satoshi used back in 2010. (…but his computer could have been hacked)
A message signed with keys from early Bitcoin blocks (…but his wallet could have been stolen).
Email or private forum posts he sent to me in 2010 (… but email could have been hacked).
A conversation about technical stuff, ideally via email, so I can see if it feels like the same person I communicated with in 2010.

Arguments about signed messages sure, but Andresen seems to put a lot of weight on the face-to-face

Quote from: Andresen's blog
After spending time with him I am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt: Craig Wright is Satoshi.

Overall, presumably he thinks that Wright ticked enough of those boxes to convince him....

The FT article says that Matonis has also known this has been coming for a month at least and presumably done, as he says here, his due dilligence, before coming out in favor of Wright's 'proof'

Quote from: from Matonis?
“I have been contacted by a private group and I am under a strict NDA [non-disclosure agreement] and press embargo during due diligence phase.”
1992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi is revealed and nobody here cares about this?? on: May 02, 2016, 09:38:05 AM
As "Nice Try" mentioned above, this is 100% fake.  This sort of irresponsible "journalism" is just embarrassing... I mean, they were already fooled once by Wright's obvious fakery.

It is strange that someone who boasts a fairly impressive technical CV like Wright's, would put himself in the position that he has if he can't 'prove' his claims to be true by signing relevant messages. If that would be sufficient proof for the community, that is.
IF he is Satoshi, or an element of the original group, his motivation for coming out could be one of a number of reasons, but this sounds like he's not planning on going quiet into the night with his coins.
A new forum.... coool, I wonder if he'll have sig campaigns, ponzis and all the essentials that we know and love?

But I seriously doubt that that person did this unintentionally. It has to be intentional. Perhaps he owns the address 155fzsEBHy9Ri2bMQ8uuuR3tv1YzcDywd4 as well.

That's BitClub Network's mining address. So you're essentially saying that tx was staged by the miner, as discussed above it's possible but pretty risky. BCN did get a lot of publicity because of that including some mainstream news press hits.

Probably nothing to do with the fact that today is the day that they are withdrawing from the U.S.market, probably because of legal concerns about being a Ponzi selling unlicenced securities.

Hi,

Just to introduce I am Amit here this side & appreciate your effort to bring me back to the forum after such a long time (Sorry, I wasn't able to recover "highkart" handle right now, would request forum mods to help me with that)

Hi. Don't want to waste the time of such a busy man, it's just that Hshitij made such a professional post on Ver's barely read forum, but nothing on here, about Gainbitcoin. So I looked at your website, and thought it was shit.

Quote
Thanks for bringing up the issues on website & I will personally make sure all of them are rectified on high priority!

Nothing done, over a week later. This is a guy that owns a software development company?

However to keep up the pace with mining and managing 1000s of mining customers, it's very difficult to focus on these regretful issues.

Sure. Are all those 1000's of customers mining Bitcoin or Scrypt? How many of them are mining thru  http://www.bestcloudmine.com/ ? I see that you announced that one on this forum, but didn't go down too well really. Was bitcoinmarketing.net yours as well? Ah, can't win them all, can we?

These all seem to be other companies, like the BitEx, BTCminingHub, under your/Mark Lee's VARIABLETECH PVT LTD, Singapore umbrella., the one with the Gmail contact.

Talking about http://www.btcmininghub.com, hope they're doing ok too, just like Gain. Got 1000's of customers there too?

Just FYI we are not a "scam" and sincerely trying to do a respectable job. In this industry where u find scams every day on cloud mining, managing our position is very difficult for us and hence we don't market it too much unless a good set of customers have tested our services and attest to he genuinity of it.

Thanks for the FYI. I think I get the bolded bit. It means this? Fake testimonials? Or are Medicare's investments decisions in India made by a caucasian model?

We command a lot of respect in mining community across China and work directly with manufacturers, you would hear some great announcements very very soon from our side globally!

This is a pretty much routine reaction I get when I ask a few questions in the cloud mining world
1) Blow off denials
2) Claims
3) Great announcements very soon

It's easy to criticise our work, but you are not aware about the kind of efforts we put in to build the BTC community in India. You are most welcomed to verify all above information in person and get satisfied. You can reach me personally to get your doubts cleared up in Delhi, I am very approachable

I'm not criticizing your work. I don't know anything about that apart from what you share on the interwebz which isn't much, only your public face, as encapsulated in your misleading website.

Quote
Cheers for the effort! I'll request you not to push more details or queries here as I am mostly not available on the forum!

You've got two accounts now, up to you entirely. What changed? Too busy with the 1000's of customers, no doubt

It appears that BitClub has the bitcoins, but how are they able to give it back?
Is the fee not divided for the miners and they already have withdrawn?
...

Good question. I guess they could return it if:

1) they mined it with their own hardware and not as a pool
2) pool members are not entitled to tx fees

Otherwise it would be ethically questionable whether they have a right to return the funds without asking their customers first (as they would be entitled to their portion of that fee).

Quote
A more general question, where does the fee actually goes when I make a transaction, to the miner right? Then how is it possible to return the btc to the owner? Are the miner their account freezed and then the take back the fee and pay the owner?

Fees go to the miner. In case of the pool, it depends on operator whether mined bitcoins (and fees) are instantly distributed among members (and available for withdrawal) or not.

BitClubPool's biggest miner is BitClub Network, the MLM "passive income" scheme, but it has a few others. The deal is zero fees and BCP keep the tx fees.
As BitClub Network says

Our friends at BCN are in the news.
They were the accidental recipients, so the story goes, of the biggest mining fee ever paid, 291.2409BTC to send 0.0001.....  Cheesy

This was reported with varying degrees of similarity by Coindesk, Gizmodo, motherboard@vice and probably others.

The story was essentially the same, this transaction

ended up with $136,000 worth of coin in Bitclub Network's hands. Being the good guys they are, they are saying that they will send it back, although this may be a little difficult, as pointed out here.

BITCLUB NEWS

Record Setting Block... By Mistake!
Date: April 26th
Our mining pool got very very lucky today! We mined a block that was worth a total of 316.523 Bitcoin (about $147,000 USD) Here is the block - https://blockchain.info/block-height/409008 However, this was clearly a mistake made from a single transaction within the block that accidentally sent 291 Bitcoin as the transaction fee instead of putting it to the receiving address. We have actually seen this happen before many times but never on this scale. In fact, looking at all the blocks ever mined this may be the biggest mistake of all time. After doing some research into this transaction it seems to be a very unique transaction. Our initial thoughts are possibly a mixing service or some type of automated payment script that may have malfunctioned and put the wrong amount in the wrong place. (this is just a guess). We are currently waiting for someone to reach out and claim their mistake so we can verify them and send this Bitcoin back. But so far, as of this posting, nobody has been able to verify it. If we cannot verify the details then we are giving it all back to the Bitcoin community! We feel like this Bitcoin does not belong to us or our members and because it was a mistake made from what looks to be a pretty shady source we can use it for good if nobody comes forward to claim it. This gives us an opportunity to prove we are one of the good guys in this industry and despite the stigma of being an MLM and being in the Bitcoin space we can operate in an ethical manner for the benefit of everyone. So, here is what we are going to do... We are going to give the rightful owner 1 week to contact us and verify themselves. If nobody emerges during this time then we are going to donate the entire 291 Bitcoin back to the community or to a Bitcoin related charity. Ideally, we would like to provide a portion to Bitcoin core development, the Bitcoin Foundation, and we will be open for other allocation options that benefit the community as a whole! We hope this opens up some eyes as to what kind of organization we are, but honestly people will more than likley continue to believe what they want and we will continue to do what we've been doing since we launched BitClub Network 18 months ago... EXECUTE OUR MODEL! We will keep you posted as we try and validate the owner of this transaction, but one thing is for sure... We will not be keeping this Bitcoin either way!
Sincerely, -BCN Support Team

I suppose it's not uncommon for people to press the wrong buttons when sending money. How often it is returned is anyone's guess, although under these circumstances it would be impossible to conceal or justify keeping it.

I remember another "cloud mining" company returning money accidentally oversent, although not quite the same situation. Cloudmining.website returned 20 BTC sent in error, I remember. They're still EXECUTING THEIR MODEL too.
