yeah  we got the inverter and it has issues  so off to a bad start.

it is not like buysolar cant do different products but this one has  a lot of nice whistles and bells.

waiting for a rma  as it was doa.

we may go with a battery to smooth over voltage drops.

The 1080tis have been flawless.

The Evga
The msi
The Corsair

All work for about 6 to 9 months set to 200 watts

That has been my experience as well.  All my 1080Ti's, be it air, hybrid or water, have been mining @ 200 watts since the day I got them without a single issue.  Re. the MSI 1070 Sea Hawk that failed, don't get me wrong, I pretty much ended up scoring a 1080 Sea Hawk for $400, so no complains on that front from me!

Thanks for the link to the overstock/auction solar panels from SEP.  ~$100 for a 230 watt panel is way better than the ~$190 I have been paying for 280/290 watt panels.  Granted they are poly-crystalline panels vs. mono, but at that price, I'm not complaining.  So you just keep an eye on that website and sometime you see deals on similar panels as low as $50 each?

Looks like they have a warehouse in Indiana.  How are their shipping rates?  I typically buy 24 or 48 panels at a time to get close to a full pallet (or two).  I also like to pick up shipments directly at the local terminal, which often saves me a little on shipping.  Very tempted to bust out another 24 panel ground array.  If I do, I'll go with just a single converter vs. micro inverters, to bring cost down even further.  I can pick up a 5,000 Watt (output) SMA Sunny Buy for around $600 shipped, which works out to about $0.10 per Watt, or $25 per panel.  Micro inverters typically run around $100 a pop.

So right around $3,000 for a 5,520 Watt array before the cost of a 24 panel Ironridge ground mount kit (about $1,300 plus locally sources 3" iron pipe) and wiring (about $200 if you make your own).  I'll check with SEP to see what their ground mount kits cost compared to what I've been paying Renvu.

the really good deals are auctions in NJ.  buysolar goes to them in person  but it is bulk buys for his solar business.

NJ had  a lot of incentive plans for installers  and when some installers go out of business they have these auctions of new old stock.

The link I gave is a guy that buys at auction and sells  at very good prices.

To get the prices like 50 bucks for that panel  you would be looking at a purchase of 1000plus panels at auction.

this is what you most likely have

https://us.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1080-Ti-SEA-HAWK-X

both of the above are like this one.

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=11G-P4-6598-KR

now at one time or the other I have owned all of the above

they are all dead solid cards true troopers

Phil, I had one of the 3 MSI 1070 Sea Hawk X cards I got from you die on me almost 2 months ago.  Some sort of short that prevent the rig from powering back in.  Once I removed the failed card, all was well with the rig again.  Opened RMA with MSI and it took 6 weeks before I got the replacement.  It worked for about 2 hours, then started overheating.  It didn't even come with the fan for the radiator.  Raised a stink with MSI and they said they didn't have another 1070 Sea Hawk they could send me, and that I would have to wait until one came in.  Was able to convince them to send me a 1080 Sea Hawk instead.  Got it 3 days later and it too overheated as soon as I started mining with it.  Turns out this 2nd one had a concave mounting plate that kept the cool plate (copper part) from making contact with the GPU.  Once I fixed it, it was good to go.  The 1070 did have a failed pump, but just picked up a Corsair H55 and swapped the parts I needed to get it going again.  MSI is going to charge me $350 if I don't return the 1070, but I figured I'll just keep it since that's still a good deal for a 1070 Sea Hawk.  And of course I'm keeping the 1080 as well.

I also had a EVGA 1070 air card fail.  Their process is so much better than MSI.  Sent them the failed card and had a replacement back within a week.  And it was a brand new card one model newer than what had failed.  Compare that to a 6 week turnaround with MSI, and you get a beaten up used card back that might not work.  Needles to say, I'm going to focus on EVGA cards going forward...

The 1080tis have been flawless.

no

19845  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: June 12, 2018, 12:03:25 AM
Meh. The real ones at fault are Halong & company. It is not the fault of their customers that Halong took such a disreputable approach to their marketing. Folks should not have to pour through the thousands of posts here to discover that the T1 only works with AB pools but that is exactly the problem that Halong created by not telling anyone about it in their advertising. To Halong it is just Someone Else's Problem.

no bitmain started it all by having hidden asic boost in the s-9

and bitmain continues it by not making btc.com and antpool.com allow asic boost.

Now personally both bitmain and halong/innosilicon have behaved poorly towards us all.

For now us miners are now being attacked by both companies as they look to push more and more and more gear.

Block PARTY!!??!!
That party is over. That was three hours ago. "What have you done for me lately". We need steak guy and beer guy to do their thing to start a new party.

I had a roasted chicken today.  Yeah I know wrong pool.

Next meal will be roasted ribs of lamb.

Really good taste just started this type of meal this year.
Roasting food is the most underrated method of making a great meal. Sure it takes time, but it takes almost no effort, and ends up being a fine meal. Might bring a red along as accompaniment for this block party then.

Yep slow roasting is the key to a fatty meat like lamb can be.
Very little spicing .  I will cook them for 6-7 hours at 220 f

Salt
Sage
Rosemary

A bottle of red sounds good with it.
Heck, we should find two blocks in a row w this menu.

Yeah  soooo good.
I found them here said  So I said to wife why not try them
wife said okay

It looks like bitcoin will have a very strong dip and be back under 1k.  My prediction is telling me it will fall to around the 500 dollar range within a month.

You are tripping on some very good stuff.

I will be able to get a lot of coins at that price.

Out of my 10 rigs I have one rig with 11 gpus that the miner crashes every couple hours.  The rig has 8 GB ram, cleron processor, 100 GB ssd and asus mining board.  The CPU is near 100% a most of the time.  The risers seem good.  Do I need more ram or a faster processor?

its nice awesome miner restarts the miner.

Would be nice to get a timeline for orders.

How do you handle orders?

Preorder and wait?

Pay and quick ship?

BTC and other cryptos?

Escrow accepted?

Paypal?

CC?

I would think  you could sell a lot of these. I hope  to get some soon.
19852  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: June 11, 2018, 04:11:06 PM
...Too many people confuse the effects of increasing difficulty with Variance.
They can COMPOUND to be devastating OR highly advantagous but ARE NOT related.

A small pool CAN enjoy great luck OR bad over any given time with either NO increase or a dramatic increase in the diff...
Which begs the question:
Knowing that, wtf are you on about?  Roll Eyes

I think his point is luck sucks I want pps

So if I am correct he should go to f2pool  which does  his t1's

19853  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: June 11, 2018, 03:54:39 PM
When the pool was 10ph or less  blocks came slowly  and our luck was decent.

So pressure of variance simply did not happen.

Now at 168ph  we should hit  5 blocks in a week

So if we hit 2 blocks  we are short 60%

Ie 0.0100 in payouts is 0.0400  that is stressful

We hit  these last 5 blocks  and my payouts  went from .041 to .023  due to high hasher stripping  my %  = bad for me

We hit these last 5 blocks  and we should have hit 9 with average luck  = bad for me.

All of this was has happened in about 35 days  which makes it seem worse.

First 8 months we did about 8 blocks and had average luck.

Last month we did about 5 blocks and had shit luck

In my case  I collected around

0.1500 with poor luck

if luck was "normal"

it would have been

0.2700 btc

but  the shortfall is true for all of us.

Now I have  t1's here and they do not have much choice  but I could have them at f2pool  doing pps I did not do this.  My decision  to mine here will be me mining here and I won't grumble about "bad" luck

I always liked -ck  so for now I am here.

It just past 12 noon  EST  where is that block?

@Phil to your solar idea, i think most time you would "only" get 90% of your max solar watt/panel. And if it drops because of the short? cloud it always fall down, and miner stops hard. Doesn't cool down, could be much cycles/day. Isn't it there where you are, you could get the same rate for solar, as from the grid?  Even if only in short times of clouding, you could get lets say 30-60% power from solar, and the rest from grid. And after sun is down, stop mining. Or is it to much expensiver if grid is avaible? How long miners need for startup?

All good questions. There is a threshold for inverter.  It has soft start and power off.

This idea only works if inverter does as promised.

Still waiting for it to test it.

Putting a l3+  or two should not be much of an issue in terms of losing the gear.

As they don’t earn much
19857  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: June 11, 2018, 01:05:37 PM
What is there to celebrate about?
I just did a reality check on the true stats we've enjoyed since I started mining here in Oct.
some of us are really getting hurt bad by being here... and have been taking an average of -20% beating for 9+months?

That is just on the block find luck variance.
Add the losses due to an insane diff increase and my ACTUAL rewards here are about 35% of expected..vs a 2-3% PPS pool with NO TX fees.

Thank God I hopped off often and caught Slush on some 200% upswings after his bad luck runs or I would have been bust months ago.
I made far FAR  more on BCH and alt's than BTC...Even after dumping most of my BTC during the Dec/17 High.
I was stupid to reinvest in more Sha-256 Asics with 30% failure rates, shit service, expensive RMA shipping and down time.

BTC by PPLNS is a black hole death spiral.

Now we must watch and suffer further as Halong pushes months worth of our shares completely out of the 5nd window.
I read earlier.."One block quickly can change our luck % pretty heavily." BULLSHIT if we hit 5x successive 1% blocks right now it would not come anywhere near close to making up for the losses already suffered.

I'm staring to feel the service which small PPLNS pools do to the Bitcoin community is to take idiots like me out of the game.
It worked.

Hydro Quebec did me an even greater favor refusing an upgrade.
Ciao fellas...

At least I won't be paying any taxes as I have not made a dime in profit. Not even close to ROI...

dont fuck with stats.

the pool did fine  for the first  8 of the 9 months

the last month sucks

so to say we took a beating for 9 months  is a lie.

to say we have been hurt this last month is true.

To say We have been crushed  since we expanded hash rate is true.

And 5 1% blocks in a row makes up for the  cold streak

I trust -ck  but my complaint is this.

It looks bad.  I know  enough about programming to know  -ck 's  explanation is possible and I continue to mine here, but it looks bad.

It matches the bad luck.

And in that regard, I have two MSI 1080 Ti hybrids, water cooled, with Corsair maglev fans (white LEDs) that I want to sell.  $715 for one, incl. shipping within the US, or $1400 for both.  PM me if interested.  Both are working fine.  Can take PayPal, Bitcoin, or Ether.

Would you consider postage to Australia? Can you quote a price for that? (one unit)
I can pay in BTC through Phil.

I will do escrow for tx fees only. I no longer do escrow but I would help out here if needed.

Also if seller does not want to sell it to you I will sell it to you I have eight of them and don’t mind shipping to Australia.  But r0mi gets first preference .

Sending it to Australia is about 100 to 120 usd for shipping as I do not think it fits in a flat rate.

At vyper eggpool seems okay

If I believe you could you give me insight as to why NASA would lie to me?

So many other lies could be Said to me.

phil - help me here with some 100 level economics.  Btc price right now is less than 7k.  If one believes that btc will be worth $xx,xxx.xx a coin in the future, isnt there value in mining at a "loss" now, to acquire btc?  This is something i often find myself thinking about.  It's a like a tug of war in my mind.

Complex question.

Selling gear say an older s9 for 500 in btc.

Or mining at a loss.

I would say sell the gear.

How long does it take to earn that?

About 110 days to earn .071 btc.

If you sell the s9 for 500 you have the btc today.

I constantly hedge cash coin gear.

And try to get more solar done.
