19921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK ATM Locations on: December 03, 2013, 09:20:52 AM
No UK bank will deal with anything Bitcoin related. Banks are too hostile towards it.

A bank doesn't have to be involved. I don't see how this would be different than buying a ticket or topping up your phone or something from a machine.

19922  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientology Bank of Bitecoin – Lending / Investment opportunity. on: December 03, 2013, 09:13:12 AM
Just wondering, wtf is a "Bitecoin"?
Anyway, I totally want a share! To good to be true they say? I say "Haha, no."

Nice try however, made me laugh a bit.

Haha. Thanks. I must admit, I am a little disappointed this thread wasn't more popular Sad.

BTW, this was a parody of the following Islamic Bank of Bitcoin thread in the Lending section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=352100.0;topicseen

It was in the lending section, but I guess somebody moved it here.
19923  Other / Off-topic / Re: do you think miley cyrus... on: December 03, 2013, 09:09:13 AM
Dude, Miley Cyrus is over. Stop talking bout her

Couldn't agree more  Tongue

All this controversy is just to get people talking about her and it works. I'd hardly heard anything about Miley before until she started twerking and rubbing herself off with foam fingers and smoking joints on stage an' shit. Well done to her, she knows what she's doing.
19924  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can it be earning BTC from just ads and faucets on: December 03, 2013, 09:06:56 AM
Any good sites that offer this and still work?

You're not going to get much from free sites and it's not really worth your time. Easiest was to make some coins is here on the forums. Sell your signature space, look out for free coin giveaways, and maybe sell some stuff on the forums or offer your services for something.
19925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the bible say about Bitcoin? on: December 03, 2013, 08:58:29 AM
Satoshi appears as a bible code in genesis , 3 times.... thats proof enough for me Smiley
http://www.divinecoders.com/index.php?keyword=satoshi&book=1

I've read that Bible Code book and it seems to "predict" anything the author wants it to.

This is one piece of literature where I recommend it's ok to judge a book by its cover.
19926  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your pic! on: December 03, 2013, 08:52:02 AM

Alright.

Just stop it with Ron?

Fuck Ron, where's Max?

But still a Ron Thread.

19927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hey bitcoiner, how OLD are you? on: December 03, 2013, 08:34:17 AM
Wait until females discover they can buy shopping things using bitcoins.  When you see shoe and handbag stores using bitcoin the female user population will explode.

Or wait until they find a Bitcoin sugardaddy. Make sure  to keep your BTC balances to yourself, peeps haha.

Eminem - Rap God: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbGs_qK2PQA

But I'm just a talking head, a zombie floating
But I got your mom deep throating
I'm out my ramen noodle
We have nothing in common, poodle
I'm a doberman, pinch yourself
In the arm and pay homage, pupil
It's me
My honesty's brutal
But it's honestly futile if I don't utilize
What I do though for good
At least once in a while so I wanna make sure
Somewhere in this chicken scratch I scribble and doodle
Enough rhymes to maybe try to help get some people through tough times

Bitmit is not operational anymore.

How much do you get for chatting on coinchat.org?

19932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are the biggest threats to cryptocurrencies right now? on: December 01, 2013, 05:37:11 PM

Tom Cruise selling his shares for bitcoin.

 Grin

Satoshi comes in and sells all his BTC holdings Grin

I've often thought what'd happen if he did that. I'm sure it wouldn't be good. What if he is just an elaborate troll or is disgusted by the beast he has created and decides to kill it by dumping?

19934  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are the biggest threats to cryptocurrencies right now? on: December 01, 2013, 05:26:49 PM
Now that the USA and China seem to be benevolent and that the protocols up until now have proved to be secure. What seem to be the biggest hurdles to mass adoption?

Ignorant technophobic plebs probably  Grin.

Massive throttling by regulation and money laundering arrests could make it difficult and scare people away. More and more merchants accepting BTC/cryptos will quicken mass adoption.
19935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Overcoming Bitcoin Anxiety on: December 01, 2013, 05:15:15 PM
Even so, it's really very unpleasant to sometimes have these "anxiety attacks", especially when Blockchain decides to archive my change address and it momentarily looks like my entire wallet balance has disappeared.

OP I know exactly how you feel, as I'm sure many others do. I would momentarily shit an absolute breezeblock if that happened

Can anyone reassure me that I'm safe, or if I'm not, explain what I'm doing wrong? I'm aware of paper wallets, etc, but as I said, my balance isn't investor-sized (always less than 1 BTC) and I occasionally spend bitcoins from it, so I don't think a paper wallet is the best idea. Plus, my paranoia would probably get the better of me and I know I'd have to check the balance, thereby putting it on the Blockchain.

I think you only need to scan the public key to check the funds of the paper wallet. Try split your funds over all three options: Keep some on Blockchain.info to spend, keep some on your computer, and put any you want to save longterm on a paper wallet and keep it secure/hidden.
19936  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Uk Bitcoin exchange in progress on: December 01, 2013, 05:07:35 PM
There was a guy on the forum a couple years ago who ran a service that let you text for bitcoins in the UK.  People loved that service because if they worked for a company who gave them a fixed amount of phone credit every month, they could waste it all buying bitcoins for some 30% fee.  You might try to find that guy and ask why he got shut down.

Sorry for the bump, but is there any other services like this available? That would be a fantastic way for peeps to get Bitcoins, especially beginners.
19937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK ATM Locations on: December 01, 2013, 05:02:30 PM
If anyone feels they have a good ATM location and has rights to place it there.

Please PM would to hear your idea's.

There's tens of thousands of ATMs all over the UK, but as far as I'm aware there isn't one that dispenses BTC yet Grin. There was one at a tech fair down in London a few months ago, but I'm sure they will start to pop up all over in 2014.

Are you wanting to set one up?
19938  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB 2 BTC on: December 01, 2013, 04:53:00 PM
Preferably PayPal and escrow

LOL.

PayPal?  Seriously?

Good luck.

Maybe you could keep the Bitcoins in escrow for two months (or whenever the chargeback limit is), and then only release the coins once that's elapsed. Probably defeats OPs reasons for wanting to use it in the first place though, but that is one way to try use paypal whilst minimising being scammed.
19939  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: UK exchange options for the resident and traveller? on: December 01, 2013, 04:45:22 PM
I'm sure you could find somebody on here to meet you in London to buy some BTC for cash. There are no Bitcoin ATMs here at the moment as far as I'm aware, but there was one a few months ago at some tech conference down in London. Hopefully there'll be at least one by the time you plan to travel here.

Bittylicious is probably the easiest exchange for us UKers (IMO/experience), but I'm sure there will be easier ways to cash in BTC during next year (I take it she'll be keeping hold of it for a while? If not, may as well just give cash).

I don't believe they've blocked any Bitcoin related sites, or if they ever would, but you could always use TOR to access them.

Hope that helps. I can try find more details for you if you wish.

Oh.. and UKP should be GBP Wink
19940  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin under 1000$ tomorrow ! on: December 01, 2013, 04:43:42 PM
I've always been curious, why do some people put the dollar sign after the number?  That seems so unusual to me..

I think it's also sometimes because the currency comes last when you say it out loud, like: One thousand Dollars, so some peeps just tack the symbol on the end.

And if it does go below 1000$ - Grin - it'll only rise back up and further in a matter of time, so it's irrelevant.
