I agree with you because such contest kills the time of loosing competitors and obviously not all could win in a competitions. But, since people are finding such contests as a proving arena by participating in, then I think it will too fine to have competitions for providing them such opportunities. By the way I like this particular one - http://prntscr.com/d42eavI assume that everyone who chooses to "kill time" entering this contest does so of free will, and with full knowledge of the risks and rewards. This is completely voluntary (just like Bitcoin). People can choose to take a risk or they can pass by. I don't understand the complaining. And I like that logo too!

It's working just as intended. I love it! I've been looking for something like this for so long, some apps are just too hard to get to, like coindesk.
Maybe you should have an editable chart, which you can zoom in and out of and pan along the timeline?
Whew, glad it's working for someone! Did it seem intuitive for you w/o the directions I just posted? I haven't seen this specific functionality anywhere else (including Coindesk), which is why I wanted to make this. It may exist, but I have yet to see it myself. I like all the suggestions I'm hearing! But as I'm not a developer, I have to pay someone to do the real work here, so I'm not sure how much I'll be developing this. I'm mostly interested in it being functional and easy to use. For now, I think my goal is to simply have most people reporting the site works for them as intended! Oh, and for anyone who hasn't been able to get it to work, here's what it should look like when it is working! Just fill in the BTC amount and date in the 3 2-digit fields, and the USD value should display as soon as all 3 fields have valid numbers.

Wow, so many reports it's not working, yet it continues to work for me on every major web browser I try (including iPad). I'm starting to wonder if using the site is so unintuitive that it seems broken...
Do I need to add these instructions? Type in any number for Bitcoin Amount, and valid two-digit entries for the three date fields, a USD value should appear immediately after you finish filling the last field.

Are you the developer behind it ? Seems interesting enough.I don't see how it calculates the price of a transaction in dollars though,In fact,it just doesn't work.I have tried several bug fixes.Major bug fixes needs to be done.It would be great if it can fetch all the details from the transactions and show the price on that particular time/day accordingly.
Thanks for your response. Sorry to be so slow to reply, I'm not on BitcoinTalk much nowadays. I am not the developer behind it, but it is my site. I asked a developer I know if he could build something like this for me, and he put this together very quickly (like, he built the basics in a few minutes). Then, after having the site up for a bit, the original feed stopped working. We switched to using an API from CoinDesk, which I think only provides daily prices. So I think we'd need to use a different price feed to get precise times. Unsure why it doesn't work for everybody/always. I wonder if something behind the scenes is down from time-to-time, because it works for me on every device I try it on, though there are rare occasions it doesn't.

Thanks for trying it out and giving feedback! not working for me. doesnt show the result using google chrome
it is not working on my side after enter the date and bitcoin amount it still not give usd value Even i enter todays date is not give usd value
I've never experienced a standard full-function browser not work with this page, but it seems like there are occasional backend issues. And sometimes there's operator error (which could be seen as a UI/UX issue), like not putting in two digits for each date field or putting in a date that's out of range. I haven't had a problem with it not working for awhile, but then again, I'm not checking it super-regularly. Tried it when I posted, and just tried it again now. Works fine for me on several computer browsers, and also Safari and Chrome on my iPhone (but not Opera Mini). Would you guys care to try one more time, and see if you just hit a time when there was a backend issue? Works for me. But I'd like to see an easier way to input a date rather than typing it out.
You should use one of those cool controls that shows a calendar and allows you to change month and year easily.
Yeah, that would be a nice upgrade. Think you'll ever use or recommend the site now that you know about it, or not really? Would the visual calendar interface make it more likely, or just make it a little easier to use?

Ever wonder what the USD value of a past Bitcoin transaction was? Sure, you can look up the price in a chart or graph, which takes a little time, then multiply the price by the number of Bitcoins. I never found a quicker way to do this, so I present http://BitcoinHistoricPrice.com, a quick and easy way to see the USD value of a past Bitcoin transaction. Or if you want to check a past Bitcoin price, just put in 1 bitcoin. I find this tool much handier that the other ways I've found to look up a past price. Note this tool is just looking up the daily price, so on some crazy volatile days, the spot price might have been very different. Anyone else find this useful or have suggestions? Has anyone seen similar tools out in the wild? 9/9/16 EDIT: Basic Directions - Just fill in the BTC amount (put "1" just to know the BTC price on a day) and 2-digit Month, Day, and Year, and the USD value should display in the bottom box as soon as all 4 fields have valid numbers. If any entry is out-of-range, then you won't see a result. Here's what it should look like when it is working!

It's been awhile since we've had a crazy price spike like we're currently experiencing. And it's been awhile since there's been a post on this thread. For a tiny fraction of a Bitcoin you can own your own Bitcoin keychain, as seen... everywhere! http://bkeychain.com/buy.html

those who are expecting to profit from ethereum pre-sale will be disappointed.
Well, that statement couldn't have been more wrong! Not to blame you or anyone saying the same thing, I think it made sense based on the info. But hard to be cocksure about the future of these things...

Sorry, just stumbled upon this post and thought it was fun to look at it with 20/20 hindsight. Oh, and to respond to the most recent (but very old) posts, you need a password along with that JSON.

I know of no other breathing human being to whom I'd want to promote bitcoin with a fork-pen.
That is not at all the intention of the Bitcoin Fork Pens (that's what the Bitcoin keychains are for ). These are purely an inside joke for other Bitcoiners.

They all did pay you for using your photos ? I like to think I hacked the system to get a bunch of free keychain advertising.

BitPappa, these are absolutely hillarious. Very funny. FWIW, it seems like we could eat with the fork carefully, as long as you only have to wash the metal cap. Anyway, I have too much junk in my life already to buy "collectibles", but these were too funny not to comment on. Good luck!
Ha, not sure if I'd even buy one. Well, actually, yes, if I ever went to Bitcoin meetups or conferences, I would love to pull this out any time I had to write something. Oh, and this is all plastic, no metal. I think the metallic finish is applied to the surface of the plastic. So, in theory, the finish could wear off with enough use as an eating utensil. Glad you enjoyed, my primary goal was to make something fun for Bitcoiners. Even if it's just knowing these exist (and are available on Amazon, via Purse.io, or at BitcoinForks.com).

As this got moved to Collectibles, I figured I'd bump the post. Not that the topic of a Bitcoin Fork is on everyone's minds, as it was a bit ago. But if you collect things related to Bitcoin, I think the Bitcoin fork pen is worth considering! http://bitcoinforks.com

Is threatening to report skeptical people a thing now? I see you used LTB Network in the subject post. Did you get permission from the LTB Network? Is there any endorsement by the LTB Network? Is there any connection to the LTB Network at all?
