21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: July 11, 2017, 01:59:59 PM
Weakness across the cryptosphere. I believe lead by uncertainty on the the UASF and tensions with large miner pools. Segwit and Lightning networks are the next round of innovation for Bitcoin. I feel that the blocksize is a nonissue for HODLers. Blocksize increases will NOT allow us to exceed 9 transactions per second, so there is no way that Bitcoin can be shoehorned in to the roll of Payment Channel ala Visa / Master Card (2000 tps). We must focus on this, and how cryptocurrency allows value transference. The evolution of the platform, with side chains allowing off chain processing and settlement back to the blockchain is where the next round of applications and use scenarios will unfold.

Ultimately ETH will take flak for Bitcoin, until it can stand on it's own. segwit and Lightning networks allow atomic cross chain swaps so we should see some chaotic oscillations until more harmony emerges brought about by arbitrage and traders smoothing out fluctuations.

There is a slight danger of a Bitcoin hardfork and an orphan chain. This could be largely bullish for Ethereum and the ecosystem of ERC20 tokens. Those who have their bitcoins in private wallets will be OK, those with coins on exchanges will be dependent on how the political game unfolds. ETC was never supposed to exist and yet was ushered into existence by Poloniex and a few other exchanges. This caught Coinbase by surprise. History doesn't have to repeat though it may rhyme...

VERI/BTC & VERI/ETH pairs now available for trade at https://mercatox.com/news/veri-added

Excellent. One step at a time.  Cool
The Order book is is light on the Buy side on mercatox. If you have an interest in this listing on other exchanges be prepared to put in some buy orders. The sellers have listed their tokens on offer. Whether you want to buy at that price or not, price discovery requires two sides! I'd like to see both etherdelta and mercatox with robust buy and sell orders!

is it possible to use Etherdelta without Metamask? The site only works in incognito-mode, but then Metamask doesnt work. the price at Mercatox is to expensive.

That's odd. I'm using Metamask in plain normal mode. no problems.
Don't know if its possible.

I only use https://brave.com/, didn't try Metamask mode.

Nice. BTC and ETH pairs! There is also a market API for the last 24 hours https://mercatox.com/public/json24

Maybe the reason the exchanges don't want to list VERI is because they're afraid there won't be enough liquidity?
So many holders and not enough sellers.
Yes. this will change when we cross 1/1 ether for veri ratio. That is the roadblock now; The services from Veritaseum will be worth it. Then the market will want in!
At that point the liquidity will be more open as the fractional VERI is traded.

The Jamaican deal just sealed my belief in Clif Highs webbot predictions on Veritaseum. Your a moron if you sell any of them. Rockefeller wealth is coming our way!
3,500 VERI on offer from etherdelta. Steal these! Never this cheap again. This deal is big: https://twitter.com/ReggieMiddleton/status/880804430655782912 A lot of people put in orders are gonna wish they did not sell.

Creation of the co-branded Digital Asset Exchange is HUGE people.

Folks get in before the news hits the wider market! VERI is dirt cheap at current price levels.  Cool
Agreed. We are low for previous trading sessions. This would be a good entry point for someone looking to buy a VERI or two that may not have any yet. The 3000+ tokens on offer currently will be considered cheap in the coming months. Once this news is absorbed, the cheap tokens will disappear. Remember the psychological step of 1/1 remains. Once we cross that we are in new territory!

Speaking of Jamaica, what are some real life theoretical examples of ways that Jamaica would use VERI?

A hedging strategy could be crafted using the Veritaseum P2P trading platform demonstrated previously.

Oil and Aluminum would be one such pair: http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/country/jam/#Exports and if they were found to be correlated, the hedge could be vs the Jamaican dollar (correlated assets also could be hedged for black swan type events).

This hedge could be offered to exporters, importers or both. The P2P platform had zero - counterparty risk. Such a strategy would be advised by veritaseum and a fee would be paid for the service.

Note: I'm not compiling about anything. Just want to know the reason of disqualification?
Ok then. Drop it.
I'm quite bored with this Bounty topic. The bounty period is over.
Those who qualified were more than generously compensated. Since the bounty is closed this is no longer on topic.
As a VERI token holder I am not interested in any further Bounty programs being offered. Veritaseum should buy ads on social media for sure.

It seems the exchanges are kind of ignoring VERI..

If you guys can convince Reggie to give VERI holders the opportunity to earn from the fees charged to users in using Veritaseum's services, then the price of VERI may adjust upward by at least 5 times, never mind where VERI is listed.
A percentage of VERI tokens sent to a time-locked contract would accomplish the same effect as well (thus the tokens taken off the market would be similar to a long duration instrument). Requiring interaction with existing token holders is not necessary. This of course is speculation.

poor Mehmet Ozturk@mto_46_twitter that he is f***** dumb.
Agreed.
He put in a sell order for VERI expecting 1/1 for ether and the market didn't take it. I see no evidence he was ripped off. Just ignorant in my opinion.
We can cure ignorance. Dumb not so much.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: June 29, 2017, 03:18:22 PM
It would be much better if delta would be banned from selling VERI. It is just damaging us holders and potential buyers.
You can't ban a decentralized exchange from listing a decentralized asset. VERI are software tokens, for purchasing services from Veritaseum.
Now would be a great time for those who don't appreciate this to cash out. At this time, Etherdelta is a useful platform and when and which exchanges will list this in the future will be dependent on the services that Veritaseum offers; that will drive demand. I predict when we reach 1/1 parity with ether that will be when exchanges become interested in VERI.

35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: June 29, 2017, 01:51:54 PM
Banning EtherDelta for VERI is an overreaction.  Educating yourself on the proper operation of EtherDelta is the proper reaction.  Use it wisely to accumulate cheap shares now.

Perhaps but price flip-flopping like a yoyo is ridiculous and harmful to us holders (and buyers as well). As our emails/tweets ... were ignored I have a simple question: How much do we need to pay to be included on real exchange?
I post the median price in my sig every day. Unless you know what you're doing you shouldn't be buying or selling outside of this band. (today 0.2916 <sellers> 0.3077 <buyers> 0.3333) Since Etherdelta is a distributed exchange, and takers can take any order, it is going to have these regressions.

VERI is a complicated piece of software. It is not an investment. Those who wish to accumulate can still use Etherdelta; the reward down the road will be apparent when the services are rolled out from Veritaseum. Speculators or people looking for a get rich token should steer clear. VERI is software to buy services. This is how they are accounted for.

Can anybody fill me in on the coin supply story with Veritasium ?
I've heard 100 Million and I've heard 2 Million (on coinmarketcap.com).

This has been extensively discussed earlier in this thread. If you have an issue with the marketcap reported by coinmarketcap.com you should contact them. Reggie has said repeatedly the Crowdsale for the token was equal to a gift card, he has steered this ship well. You can exchange VERI for services from Veritaseum. There would be no reason for them try to make existing tokens worthless and the token supports 18 decimal places which shows that fractions of VERI are intended for usage in the future.

The crowdsale was used to raise funds, which are used to build the Veritaseum software ecosystem. The token is not a share, or investment. It is a software object that is used for accounting the services you purchase.

Reggie has offered to refund crowdsale purchases for buyers that did not understand the use of the VERI token.

If you are looking for an investment, VERI is not for you. It is software to access services.

Sovereigns, large banks and hedge funds looking at this software will buy to use as intended; to purchase services from Veritaseum. For instance a bank buys a 5,000 seat subscription to the Wall Street Journal. Those papers are for business. Managers, analyst etc read them every day.
Those 5,000 new readers will be included in the circulation numbers for the paper, and it just isn't reasonable for them to take those papers out to the street corner and sell them in competition with street vendors. The VERI tokens are similar, you buy them because you are interested in the services that Veritaeseum offers. Reggie will expand the company and offer more services, that is his job to make you want services. Just like Steve Jobs worked to make you want an iPhone and other Apple products and services.

If you looked at business margins, the money is definitely on the side of software and services. Hardware is only profitable at a huge scale and is in a race to the bottom thanks to Moore's law in computing. Hardware margins always get squeezed - software and services are much much easier to make profitable.

This is why Bill Gates railed against the early pirates of his BASIC programing software which he sold. Piracy was theft of an easily copied digital product. The Blockchain reverses this and assigns value to the software objects, duplication or piracy is not possible.

Microsoft becomes more valuable the more copies that are shipped, this is the network effect just like the internet expanded exponentially. Reggie is building a platform. The more it is used the more valuable the services become. If you bought 100 tokens in the crowdsale, maybe you don't need that many. Maybe you sell half, the tokens are exchangeable for the services on that platform. You still have 50 VERI tokens and when you look at the what services cost, the 18 decimals places will work to your advantage.

Craig Newmark who created craigslist tried to pitch the idea to the editor of a newspaper. They refused it. Digital disruption has happened repeatedly in modern times, what is surprising is that so many people believe their industry or company cannot be disrupted. One of the reasons Facebook has been so aggressive in acquisitions is that they are trying to maintain market dominance; for them a Billion dollar takeover another company buys them breathing room as well as access to technology they may not have invented.

Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan & Barkleys are all ripe for disruption. The agile companies will adopt the new tools. Obstinate ones will be fenced out of a growing market. Blockchain is disruptive. If you believe this and that the pattern of disruption will continue you'll want to be a part of it.

Wow I never considered my position to be a whale but as I did get in on the ICO with a chunk of what I consider real money I guess I may be as I am way past the high position on the Gini coefficient.
Anyhoo as always DEX is keepin it real!

99% of VERI holders have less than 8,411 tokens... If you have more than that you are the 1%.

Bix is probably basing this idea on Clif High's Web-Bot report regarding Veritaseum. I personally don't understand why high traffic would cause problems for an exchange, because, aren't they designed to handle huge volumes and traffic?...

His comment is that they wouldn't have enough. The float is low 1.9 Million shares any appreciable demand will cause the price to sky rocket, and even with a higher price the volume may be low. The next hurdle is when we cross the 1/1 ratio for ether/veri. Psychologically that is significant. That will take some pressure off the low float / volumes because people will be buying fractions of VERI with ether.

I calculated the Gini Coefficient for VERI (calculated in Veri), currently at 0.9 compared to the USA which is 0.8 and India 0.66 (calculated in 2000 purchasing dollars)
The median holder of VERI has 30 VERI token (probably from original crowdsale 1 ether to 30 tokens). The lower hinge is 4.5 the upper is 148 VERI tokens.

The Gini coefficient measures relative, not absolute, wealth. I'd like to see this number lower through more smaller players taking a stake. Listing on a larger exchange though could cause a lot of the small holders to cash out. I think Bix's comment was that once the weak hands exit, the volume would stay low.

Real price is dependent on the services from Veritaseum, which the token is used to buy. The big whales are sitting on something incredible.
